  • How do I assign a number value to a non-numerical value in Excel

    - by Keyslinger
Greetings I have an some survey responses with values like "VU" for "Very Unlikely" and "S" for Sometimes. Each survey response occupies a cell. For each cell containing a survey response, I want to fill another cell with a corresponding number. For example, for every cell containing "VU" I want to fill a corresponding cell with the number 1. How is this done?

  • Mac OS X bug: Desktop & Screen Saver: image alignment preference is ignored.

    - by Aaron F.
I have my desktop background set to rotate through a folder of images. Even though I have the alignment drop-down list set to "Center", the images still render as "Fill to Screen". When I change the list value to something else, then back to "Center", OR I manually click on a different image to display, well, that image is rendered as "Center". But all images that follow (via the "Change picture every x minutes" checkbox) are rendered as Fill to Screen. Any fix to this bug?

  • Select part of a text that exists already in an above cell

    - by pragadheesh
How do I get Excel to partially auto-complete a word using another that already exist in the same worksheet? Let's say I have the word "Microsoft" in a cell and in the cell below I want to type the word "Microhard". When I start typing Microhard, the word Microsoft appears shaded in black. How can I select the "Micro" part alone from Microsoft and continue to fill out the rest with "hard" without it trying to fill out as Microsoft?

  • how to remove or change background fills in all tables in a microsoft word document

    - by PA.
I have a bunch of large documents, with many tables that have different and inconsistent fill styles - some of them are not readable in black and white when printed. I cannot change the background fill for all the tables at once. The problem I have is that when I open such a document, and Select All, the Table Properties are inactive. Do you know a technique for selecting all the tables, or a method for applying global format of tables, with a script or some other way?

  • WPF 3.5 WebBrowser control and ZIndex

    - by emsieja
    I'm trying to figure out why the control does not honor ZIndex. Example 1 - which works fine <Canvas> <Rectangle Canvas.ZIndex="1" Height="400" Width="600" Fill="Yellow"/> <Rectangle Canvas.ZIndex="2" Height="100" Width="100" Fill="Red"/> </Canvas> Example 2 - which does not work <Canvas> <WebBrowser Canvas.ZIndex="1" Height="400" Width="600" Source="http://www.stackoverflow.com"/> <Rectangle Canvas.ZIndex="2" Height="100" Width="100" Fill="Red"/> </Canvas> Thanks, -- Ed

  • Zend - combobox value depending on another combobox value

    - by Sorin Adrian Carbunaru
Is there a way in Zend Framework to fill a combobox with values depending on the value chosen in a previous combobox, but on the same page? In my case I have a combobox for domain and one for specialization. If i choose Informatics in the first combobox (domain), I want to fill the second one with a single specialization - "Informatics". But if I choose Math in the first, I want to fill the second one with two specialization: "Mathematics" and "Mathematics & Informatics". Thank you! Sorin

Hello, people, i,m looking for the way to populate a jsp dropdown. I want that when the jsp load it fill the dropdown with the info that i have in a database table. Down I,m icluding the code of my class that will create the array and fill it with the database info. Whant i don,t know is how to call that class from my jsp and fill the dropdown. '// this will create my array public static ArrayList getBrandsMakes() { ArrayList arrayBrandsMake = new ArrayList(); while(rs.next()) { arrayBrandsMake.add(loadOB(rs)); // CARGO MI ARREGLO CON UN OBJETO } return arrayBrandsMake; } } //this will load my array object private static DropDownBrands loadOB(ResultSet rs)throws SQLException { DropDownBrands OB = new DropDownBrands (); OB.setBrands("BRAN"); return OB; } '

  • Cucumber, capybara and selenium - Submiting a form without a button

    - by Daniel Cukier
I have a test using Cucumber, capybara and selenium driver. This test should go to a form and submit it. The normal text would be Scenario: Fill form Given I am on the Form page When I fill in "field1" with "value1" And I fill in "field2" with "value2" And I press "OK" Then I should see "Form submited" The problem is that I don't have the OK button in the form I need a way to do the "form.submit", without clicking any button or link - the same as happens when you press ENTER when you are in a form field using the browser. I don't know how to tell capybara to submit a form. How can I do it?

  • Elisp performance on Windows and Linux

    - by JasonFruit
I have the following dead simple elisp functions; the first removes the fill breaks from the current paragraph, and the second loops through the current document applying the first to each paragraph in turn, in effect removing all single line-breaks from the document. It runs fast on my low-spec Puppy Linux box using emacs 22.3 (10 seconds for 600 pages of Thomas Aquinas), but when I go to a powerful Windows XP machine with emacs 21.3, it takes almost an hour to do the same document. What can I do to make it run as well on the Windows machine with emacs 21.3? (defun remove-line-breaks () "Remove line endings in a paragraph." (interactive) (let ((fill-column 90002000)) (fill-paragraph nil))) : (defun remove-all-line-breaks () "Remove all single line-breaks in a document" (interactive) (while (not (= (point) (buffer-end 1))) (remove-line-breaks) (next-line 1))) Forgive my poor elisp; I'm having great fun learning Lisp and starting to use the power of emacs, but I'm new to it yet.

  • WPF Lookless Control Events

    - by Scott
    I have the following class: public class LooklessControl : Control { public List<int> IntList { get; private set; } public int CurrentInt { get; private set; } private int _index = 0; static LooklessControl() { DefaultStyleKeyProperty.OverrideMetadata(typeof(LooklessControl), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(typeof(LooklessControl))); } public LooklessControl() { IntList = new List<int>(); for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) { IntList.Add(i); } CurrentInt = IntList[_index]; } public static readonly RoutedCommand NextItemCommand = new RoutedCommand("NextItemCommand", typeof(LooklessControl)); private void ExecutedNextItemCommand(object sender, ExecutedRoutedEventArgs e) { NextItemHandler(); } private void CanExecuteNextItemCommand(object sender, CanExecuteRoutedEventArgs e) { e.CanExecute = true; } public static readonly RoutedCommand PrevItemCommand = new RoutedCommand("PrevItemCommand", typeof(LooklessControl)); private void ExecutedPrevItemCommand(ExecutedRoutedEventArgs e) { PrevItemHandler(); } private void CanExecutePrevItemCommand(object sender, CanExecuteRoutedEventArgs e) { e.CanExecute = true; } public static readonly RoutedEvent NextItemEvent = EventManager.RegisterRoutedEvent("NextItemEvent", RoutingStrategy.Bubble, typeof(RoutedEventHandler), typeof(LooklessControl)); public event RoutedEventHandler NextItem { add { AddHandler(NextItemEvent, value); } remove { RemoveHandler(NextItemEvent, value); } } private void RaiseNextItemEvent() { RoutedEventArgs args = new RoutedEventArgs(LooklessControl.NextItemEvent); RaiseEvent(args); } public static readonly RoutedEvent PrevItemEvent = EventManager.RegisterRoutedEvent("PrevItemEvent", RoutingStrategy.Bubble, typeof(RoutedEventHandler), typeof(LooklessControl)); public event RoutedEventHandler PrevItem { add { AddHandler(PrevItemEvent, value); } remove { RemoveHandler(PrevItemEvent, value); } } private void RaisePrevItemEvent() { RoutedEventArgs args = new RoutedEventArgs(LooklessControl.PrevItemEvent); RaiseEvent(args); } private void NextItemHandler() { _index++; if (_index == IntList.Count) { _index = 0; } CurrentInt = IntList[_index]; RaiseNextItemEvent(); } private void PrevItemHandler() { _index--; if (_index == 0) { _index = IntList.Count - 1; } CurrentInt = IntList[_index]; RaisePrevItemEvent(); } } The class has a default style, in Generic.xaml, that looks like this: <Style x:Key="{x:Type local:LooklessControl}" TargetType="{x:Type local:LooklessControl}"> <Setter Property="Height" Value="200"/> <Setter Property="Width" Value="90"/> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type local:LooklessControl}"> <Border BorderBrush="Black" BorderThickness="1" Padding="2"> <Grid> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="20"/> <RowDefinition Height="*"/> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <Rectangle Grid.Row="0" Fill="LightGray"/> <Rectangle Grid.Row="1" Fill="Gainsboro"/> <Grid Grid.Row="0"> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="10"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="*"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="10"/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Path Grid.Column="0" x:Name="pathLeftArrow" Data="M0,0.5 L1,1 1,0Z" Width="6" Height="14" Stretch="Fill" HorizontalAlignment="Center" Fill="SlateBlue"/> <TextBlock Grid.Column="1" Name="textBlock" Text="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent}, Path=CurrentInt}" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" FontFamily="Junction" FontSize="13"/> <Path Grid.Column="2" x:Name="pathRightArrow" Data="M0,0 L1,0.5 0,1Z" Width="6" Height="14" Stretch="Fill" HorizontalAlignment="Center" Fill="SlateBlue"/> </Grid> <ListBox Grid.Row="1" HorizontalContentAlignment="Center" VerticalContentAlignment="Center" Background="Transparent" ItemsSource="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent}, Path=IntList}"/> </Grid> </Border> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> How do I make it so that when the user clicks on pathLeftArrow it fires LooklessControl.PrevItemCommand, or or they click on pathRightArrow and it fires LooklessControl.NextItemCommand, or they click on an item in the ListBox and LooklessControl is notified of the newly selected item? In other words, without adding x:Class to the top of Generic.xaml and thus creating a code-behind file for it, which I assume you wouldn't want to do, how do you handle events for elements in your xaml that don't have a Command property (which is just about everything other than a Button)? Should LooklessControl have it's own XAML file (much like what you get when you create a new UserControl) associated with it that Generic.xaml just pulls in as a MergedDictionar as its default template? Or is there some other acknowledged way to do what I'm trying to do?

  • Conceal packet loss in PCM stream

    - by ZeroDefect
I am looking to use 'Packet Loss Concealment' to conceal lost PCM frames in an audio stream. Unfortunately, I cannot find a library that is accessible without all the licensing restrictions and code bloat (...up for some suggestions though). I have located some GPL code written by Steve Underwood for the Asterisk project which implements PLC. There are several limitations; although, as Steve suggests in his code, his algorithm can be applied to different streams with a bit of work. Currently, the code works with 8kHz 16-bit signed mono streams. Variations of the code can be found through a simple search of Google Code Search. My hope is that I can adapt the code to work with other streams. Initially, the goal is to adjust the algorithm for 8+ kHz, 16-bit signed, multichannel audio (all in a C++ environment). Eventually, I'm looking to make the code available under the GPL license in hopes that it could be of benefit to others... Attached is the code below with my efforts. The code includes a main function that will "drop" a number of frames with a given probability. Unfortunately, the code does not quite work as expected. I'm receiving EXC_BAD_ACCESS when running in gdb, but I don't get a trace from gdb when using 'bt' command. Clearly, I'm trampimg on memory some where but not sure exactly where. When I comment out the *amdf_pitch* function, the code runs without crashing... int main (int argc, char *argv[]) { std::ifstream fin("C:\\cc32kHz.pcm"); if(!fin.is_open()) { std::cout << "Failed to open input file" << std::endl; return 1; } std::ofstream fout_repaired("C:\\cc32kHz_repaired.pcm"); if(!fout_repaired.is_open()) { std::cout << "Failed to open output repaired file" << std::endl; return 1; } std::ofstream fout_lossy("C:\\cc32kHz_lossy.pcm"); if(!fout_lossy.is_open()) { std::cout << "Failed to open output repaired file" << std::endl; return 1; } audio::PcmConcealer Concealer; Concealer.Init(1, 16, 32000); //Generate random numbers; srand( time(NULL) ); int value = 0; int probability = 5; while(!fin.eof()) { char arr[2]; fin.read(arr, 2); //Generate's random number; value = rand() % 100 + 1; if(value <= probability) { char blank[2] = {0x00, 0x00}; fout_lossy.write(blank, 2); //Fill in data; Concealer.Fill((int16_t *)blank, 1); fout_repaired.write(blank, 2); } else { //Write data to file; fout_repaired.write(arr, 2); fout_lossy.write(arr, 2); Concealer.Receive((int16_t *)arr, 1); } } fin.close(); fout_repaired.close(); fout_lossy.close(); return 0; } PcmConcealer.hpp /* * Code adapted from Steve Underwood of the Asterisk Project. This code inherits * the same licensing restrictions as the Asterisk Project. */ #ifndef __PCMCONCEALER_HPP__ #define __PCMCONCEALER_HPP__ /** 1. What does it do? The packet loss concealment module provides a suitable synthetic fill-in signal, to minimise the audible effect of lost packets in VoIP applications. It is not tied to any particular codec, and could be used with almost any codec which does not specify its own procedure for packet loss concealment. Where a codec specific concealment procedure exists, the algorithm is usually built around knowledge of the characteristics of the particular codec. It will, therefore, generally give better results for that particular codec than this generic concealer will. 2. How does it work? While good packets are being received, the plc_rx() routine keeps a record of the trailing section of the known speech signal. If a packet is missed, plc_fillin() is called to produce a synthetic replacement for the real speech signal. The average mean difference function (AMDF) is applied to the last known good signal, to determine its effective pitch. Based on this, the last pitch period of signal is saved. Essentially, this cycle of speech will be repeated over and over until the real speech resumes. However, several refinements are needed to obtain smooth pleasant sounding results. - The two ends of the stored cycle of speech will not always fit together smoothly. This can cause roughness, or even clicks, at the joins between cycles. To soften this, the 1/4 pitch period of real speech preceeding the cycle to be repeated is blended with the last 1/4 pitch period of the cycle to be repeated, using an overlap-add (OLA) technique (i.e. in total, the last 5/4 pitch periods of real speech are used). - The start of the synthetic speech will not always fit together smoothly with the tail of real speech passed on before the erasure was identified. Ideally, we would like to modify the last 1/4 pitch period of the real speech, to blend it into the synthetic speech. However, it is too late for that. We could have delayed the real speech a little, but that would require more buffer manipulation, and hurt the efficiency of the no-lost-packets case (which we hope is the dominant case). Instead we use a degenerate form of OLA to modify the start of the synthetic data. The last 1/4 pitch period of real speech is time reversed, and OLA is used to blend it with the first 1/4 pitch period of synthetic speech. The result seems quite acceptable. - As we progress into the erasure, the chances of the synthetic signal being anything like correct steadily fall. Therefore, the volume of the synthesized signal is made to decay linearly, such that after 50ms of missing audio it is reduced to silence. - When real speech resumes, an extra 1/4 pitch period of sythetic speech is blended with the start of the real speech. If the erasure is small, this smoothes the transition. If the erasure is long, and the synthetic signal has faded to zero, the blending softens the start up of the real signal, avoiding a kind of "click" or "pop" effect that might occur with a sudden onset. 3. How do I use it? Before audio is processed, call plc_init() to create an instance of the packet loss concealer. For each received audio packet that is acceptable (i.e. not including those being dropped for being too late) call plc_rx() to record the content of the packet. Note this may modify the packet a little after a period of packet loss, to blend real synthetic data smoothly. When a real packet is not available in time, call plc_fillin() to create a sythetic substitute. That's it! */ /*! • Creating colour schemes based on an existing scheme

    - by Neil Barnwell
I have a colour scheme based around yellow, for warning messages on a website. It amounts to a slightly orange bordered box, with a pale yellow fill. The exact colours are: #FED626 (border) #FFF7C0 (fill) I want to know if it's possible to convert this scheme mathematically or algorithmically somehow, to come up with a blue version where the border is the "same amount" of blue as this one is yellow. Is this possible, or do I just "pin the tail on the donkey" on a colour pallet to get roughly the right one? I ask, because I'd quite like to be able to calculate this on the fly, to perhaps implement something in .less. To give you an idea, I tried swopping the red and blue values on those two, and came up with this: #26D6FE (border) #C0F7FF (fill) That wasn't too hard, but think about if I wanted a pink colour scheme... :)

  • Qt - A login dialog

    - by Narek
I want to create a login dialog by inheriting QDialog. I put in subclass named LoginDialog 2 QLineEdits: for login for password. I want to be able to warn the user with a message if the caps lock is ON while he will start to fill passwordLineEdit. Suppose I have a function that tells the current state of CapsLock button. So I want to do eventFiltering in LoginDialog class in order to understand that user starts to fill the password field (i.e. user just stepped into the password field) So for that purpose I wrote the following in the LoginDialog class constructor: m_passwordLineEdit->installEventFilter(this); So the only thing is to do is to implement a function which can understand that user is going to fill the password. Seems is should be done with the following function(??): bool LoginDialog::eventFilter(QObject *target, QEvent *event) { if (target == m_passwordLineEdit) { } return QDialog::eventFilter(target, event); } How to implement this function???

  • No events are fired from an imagebrush via ImageOpened/ImageFailed

    - by umlgorithm
A canvas is received from the server, and an image brush is extracted from the canvas via searching for a bunch of pathes. In summary, Canvas - Path - Path.Fill - ImageBrush. Now, I want to take a snapshot of the ImageBrush using WriteableBitmap when it is loaded and here is what I did var imageBrushes = VisualTreeUtility.FindVisualChildren<Path>(canvas) .Where(i => i.Fill.GetType() == typeof(ImageBrush)) .Select(p => p.Fill); foreach(var image in imageBrushes) { image.ImageOpened += delegate { //never gets here }; image.ImageFailed += delegate { //never gets here either }; // if the image is already loaded if (((BitmapSource)image.ImageSource).PixelWidth != 0) { // never gets here either } } As you can see the comments in the code above, no matter what I try, I can't seem to catch an event from the image. Any suggestions?

  • Alternative to c++ static virtual methods

    - by Jaime Pardos
In C++ is not possible to declare a static virtual function, neither cast a non-static function to a C style function pointer. Now, I have a plain ol' C SDK that uses function pointers heavily. I have to fill a structure with several function pointers. I was planning to use an abstract class with a bunch of static pure virtual methods, and redefine them in derived classes and fill the structure with them. It wasn't until then that I realized that static virtual are not allowed in C++. Is there any good alternative? The best I can think of is defining some pure virtual methods GetFuncA(), GetFuncB(),... and some static members FuncA()/FuncB() in each derived class, which would be returned by the GetFuncX(). Then a function in the abstract class would call those functions to get the pointers and fill the structure.

  • Nested form using accepts_nested_attributes_for with pre-population from another table

    - by mikeydelamonde
I'm using Rails 2.3.5 and have a nested structure as follows: Lists has_many Items Items_Features has_many Features Items_Features has_many Items Items_Features has a text field to hold the value of the feature Then I have a nested form with partials to update and display this so that it updates Lists, Items and Items_Features What I want to do is generate input fields for each of the rows in features so that the user can fill in a value and it gets inserted/updated in items_features. I also want a label next to the box to display the feature name. It might look like this: List name: Cheeses Item1 name: Edam Feature, hardness: - fill in - <= this list of features from feature table Feature, smell: - fill in - How can I interrupt the nice and easy accepts_nested_attributes_for system to display this as I want?

  • Any form autofill for 'Developers'?

    - by Majid
Hi all, I have looked at some autofills for Firefox. But they are not designed with the developers' needs in mind. General internet surfers will need a tool to fill in many different forms with constant values for each form. Developers need exactly the opposite, when you want to test a part of your app you'll need to fill a single (or a couple of) forms many times with different (but valid and sensible) data. So, does such a thing exist? An autofill to fill form inputs based on perhaps a class name (email, password, address, url, ...)? I strongly feel if it doesn't exist someone should roll up their sleeves and make one! I for one will put in my share if some others want to team up. But right now, I am desperately in need of one if it exists

  • UITableView with Core Data and fetchedResultsController - don't want to call it at start up

    - by zebulon
Hi all, I started with the Navigation-based application. I have a UITableView that shows the content fetched from CoreData - using the - (NSFetchedResultsController *)fetchedResultsController from the template. The thing is that I don't want to fill the TableView with the results at the start-up, instead I want to fill the TableView with the results from a search. In my app I have an UITextField, where the user can type a string. And from that string, using predicate, I want to fill the UITableView with the results. In other words, at start-up, the UITableView should be empty and later filled with the search-results. Does anyone have an idea on how to accomplish this? Thanks in advance! EDIT: Solved it by moving out if (![fetchedResultsController_ performFetch:&error]) { and calling it later. I feel a bit stupid ;)

  • Converting mxml Rect & SolidColor to actionscript

    - by touB
I'm trying to learn how to use actionscript over mxml for flexibility. I have this simple block of mxml that I'm trying to convert to actionscript, but I'm stuck half way though <s:Rect id="theRect" x="0" y="50" width="15%" height="15%"> <s:fill> <s:SolidColor color="black" alpha="0.9" /> </s:fill> </s:Rect> I can convert the Rect no problem to private var theRect:Rect = new Rect(); theRect.x = 0; theRect.y = 50; theRect.width = "15%"; theRect.height = "15%"; then I'm stuck on the fill. What's the most efficient way to add the SolidColor in as few lines of code as possible.
