• Best practice for storing global data in PHP?

  Hi I'm running a web application that allows a user to log in. The user can add/remove content to his/her 'library' which is displayed on a page called "library.php". Instead of querying the database for the contents of the users library everytime they load "library.php", I want to store it globally for PHP when the user logs in, so that the query is only run once. Is there a best practice for doing this? fx. storing their library in an array in a session? Thanks for your time

• Upload 1GB files using chunking in PHP

  I have a web application that accepts file uploads of up to 4 MB. The server side script is PHP and web server is NGINX. Many users have requested to increase this limit drastically to allow upload of video etc. However there seems to be no easy solution for this problem with PHP. First, on the client side I am looking for something that would allow me to chunk files during transfer. SWFUpload does not seem to do that. I guess I can stream uploads using Java FX (http://blogs.sun.com/rakeshmenonp/entry/javafx_upload_file ) but I can not find any equivalent of request.getInputStream in PHP. Increasing browser client_post limits or php.ini upload or max_execution times is not really a solution for really large files (~ 1GB) because maybe the browser will time out and think of all those blobs stored in memory. is there any way to solve this problem using PHP on server side? I would appreciate your replies.

• Add title to jQuery Cycle slideshow from Alt attribute?

  I am building a slideshow and need to have a title appear for each picture that get cycled. I created alt attributes for them and am trying to have cycle display them for each image, but It only shows the first one. I am unsure how to get the code I have into the cycle "loop" for the gallery? • Installing JavaFX 2.0 in Eclipse Juno for Mac

  I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.x (Snow Leopard) right now, so I'm pretty sure that there could be some issues with supported systems, but I'm trying to install JavaFX 2.0 (or 2.1.x) in Eclipse Juno for Java EE (version 3.8). I have already installed the e(fx)clipse plugin, but I'm not sure if I'm downloading the right JavaFX .zip file from the Oracle website. I downloaded the JavaFX 2.2 beta release because it seemed to be the only release available for OS X, but I could be wrong. Once I download this archive, I'm not exactly what to do with it/where to place it so that Eclipse recognizes it as the JavaFX 2.2 SDK. I know that I have to go into preferences and set the location of the SDK file, but there doesn't seem to be any selectable .jar file or folder to set it to. Am I doing something wrong here? Any help is appreciated. Edit: I worked around the issue by setting the SDK location to the location of the downloaded JavaFX 2.2 SDK in the JavaFX section in the preferences tree.

• Debug .Net Framework's source code only shows disassembly in Visual Studio 2010

  Hi! I'm trying to debug .Net Framework's source code using Visual Studio 2010 Professional. I followed the steps described in Raj Kaimal's post but I must be doing something wrong since the only code I'm getting to see is the disassembly code: As you can see in the image, the Go to Source Code and the Load Symbols options are disabled. Nevertheless, symbols are downloaded from Microsoft's server since I can see them inside the local cache directory. The code I'm debugging goes as follow: var wr = WebRequest.Create("http://www.google.com"); Console.WriteLine("Web request created"); var req = wr.GetRequestStream(); Console.Read(); When I hit F11 to step into the first line of code, a window pops us looking for the "WebRequst.cs" file inside "f:\dd\ndp\fx\src\Net\System\Net\WebRequest.cs" which does not exists on my machine. • calender with multiple data sources at once??

  Im looking for a (free) solution to a bookingcalender. Among many candidates Ive found the Jquery Full Calender which has many cool features. One of the reason that I like this one is because it has "drag and drop" and resize, which I also need. But I also need to have the dayview where I the columms monday, tuesday, wedensday, thursday friday .... gets replaced with fx. Room1, Room2, Room3, Room4, Room5, Room6, Room7.   We are building a comprehensive integration test framework in C# for our application which exists on top of HTTP using IIS7 to host our applications. As part of our integration tests we want to test incoming requests which will result in EndOfStreamExceptions ("Unable to read beyond end of stream") that occur when a client sends up a HTTP header indicating a larger body size than it actually transmits as part of the body. We want to test our error recovery code for this condition so we need to simulate these sorts of requests. I am looking for a .NET Fx-based socket library or custom HttpWebRequest replacement that specifically allows developers to simulate such conditions to add to our integration test suite. Does anyone know of any such libraries? A scriptable solution would work as well.

• jQuery Cycle plugin: One pager to control multiple slideshow on a page

  Hi there, I have a cycle plugin set up on a page (images) with a pager to control the horizontal slide. My issue is that there is a transparent overlay that needs to sit over part of the images for some text relating to each image but would rather have that with a different transition effect for this so it doesn't slide in from the left. Am I able to set up to slideshows, each with 3 pieces of related content, that I can position correctly and have them controlled with the one pager? But when I embed the .swf file into a HTML page, the application's background color covers the whole screen, and when the Flash Player Settings message box pops up it is outside of the area I defined in the code above.   Hello, On one side, in Vb.Net when you add an event handler to an object the created method is named: <NameOfTheObject>_<NameOfTheMethod>. As I like to have consistent syntax I always follow this rule when creating event handlers by hand. On the other side when I create private variables I prefix them with m_ as this is a common thing used by the community, in C# people use to put _ at the beginning of a variable but this is no CLS compliant. At the end, when I create event handlers for events raised by private variables I end with Subs like m_myVariable_MyEvent. Code Analysis (Fx Cop) is complainig about this way of naming because the method does not start with uppercase and because the _, so the question is: What naming standards do you follow when creating event handlers by hand that follow the Fxcop rules if any?   There were two things that I want to know how to do in Emacs (23.2, *nix): Go to the first character after indentation in a line Go to the first character that's the equivalent to a given character (an equivalent to vim's fx command that goes forward until it hits the x character; maybe C-s (incremental search) is the best way to do this) But, I think it would be better if I had a cheat sheet that listed navigational bindings. Maybe Emacs (self-documenting) can do this on it's own. Is there a list of commands that are equivalent to vim's default commands anywhere? How about a list of navigational key-bindings in Emacs?

• How do you use Exslt.dyn (especially the 'evaluate' method) in Umbraco?

  I am trying to execute the string contained in an XSL variable. Umbraco has hooks for several Exslt pieces, but it seems the Exslt.dyn (Exslt.dynamic) is not one of them. How do you add it in? Acceptable methods (in order of preference: Writing your own XSLT extension (possibly using existing Umbraco code for Exslt Dynamic). Uploading the XSL from http://www.exslt.org/dyn/functions/evaluate/index.html into Umbraco. Modifying the Umbraco source to add it (possibly using existing Umbraco code for Exslt Dynamic). The reason I mention Exslt Dyanmic is because some Umbraco XSLT sources show a reference that I am assuming existing in some versions of Umbraco. I cannot find it in the source code, however. I have excluded flash as a solution and would like to use those fine-looking effects of mootools fx. But the problem is that I'm really lousy when it comes to javascript. • What would you do if you coded a C++/OO cross-platform framework and realize its laying on your disk

  This project started as a development platform because i wanted to be able to write games for mobile devices, but also being able to run and debug the code on my desktop machine too (ie, the EPOC device emulator was so bad): the platforms it currently supports are: Window-desktop WinCE Symbian iPhone The architecture it's quite complete with 16bit 565 video framebuffer, blitters, basic raster ops, software pixel shaders, audio mixer with shaders (dsp fx), basic input, a simple virtual file system... although this thing is at it's first write and so there are places where some refactoring would be needed. Everything has been abstracted away and the guiding principle are: mostly clean code, as if it was a book to just be read object-orientation, without sacrifying performances mobile centric The idea was to open source it, but without being able to manage it, i doubt the software itself would benefit from this move.. Nevertheless, i myself have learned a lot from unmaintained projects. So, thanking you in advance for reading all this... really, what would you do?

Basically, each page has tabs, and all are navigational via drop down at the top, with each 'tab' being available in the drop down. Currently I'm able to text-link, but only within the page I'm on, and I'm just lost on the getting it to work correctly from page to page.   hi i have a simpel tkinter window. consists of a small window, a timer, and a button for set timer. dont want to go in details with the code... Now all the widgets in my windows eg. button, Label Ect. will have to change color. EG. i Have a global variabel wich i will set as color "red" fx... All the widgets BACKGROUND option is associated with the global variabel. Now on button press i will change the global variable to "green" so that the background of all widgets ect. will change color, but they DONT. i thought the .mainloop() sort of UPDATED the window. how can i have the widgets to change background color when my variable change WITHOUT restarting my application??? ty Xanthar

I need to position the TimeSliceLevel* on a X.. When I've got a for(int i = 0; i < slices.size(); ++i) loop, I can use x = i * width. Though I'm using an iterator as I've been told many times that's good programming : and I'm wondering if the iterator has a "index" number of something which I can use to calculate the new X position?
