• How to give my user permission to add/edit files on local apache server? [duplicate]

  Possible Duplicate: How to make Apache run as current user I'm setting up my local test server again, and I seem to have forgotten how to successfully set up the LAMP server. I have installed LAMP server via tasksel command and I have configured the /var/www directory according to a guide I've found: After the lamp server installation you will need write permissions to the /var/www directory. Follow these steps to configure permissions. The thing with this is that I will be working on a plugin for wordpress and I don't want to deal with separate owners under www directory to create or modify files/folders. When I give my user the ownership of /var/www recursively as logan:www-data I can create/modify files but cannot view the http://localhost. I get a Forbidden error. I'm assuming that this is because of the Apache's configuration? Which one is healthier or easier considering this is just a local test website, configuring apache to give user logan to view website and chmod /var/www logan:logan so that I can create files etc. without any sudo commands; or is it easier to configure user groups to get www-data user to act like my logan user? (Idk how that's possible, maybe putting www-data user under logan group?) Please shed some light to this subject. All I want is to be able to create/modifiy files under my user, and yet to be able to successfully view http://localhost I appreciate the help!

  I wrote a site using ASP.NET MVC, and although it is not completely SEO optimized at this point I figured it is a good start. What I'm finding is that when I use Google's Webmaster Tools to fetch my site (to see what a GoogleBot sees) it sees this. • How to set default date in date_select helper in Rails

  I'm trying to set up a date of birth helper in my Rails app (2.3.5). At present it is like so. <%= f.date_select :date_of_birth, :start_year => Time.now.year - 110, :end_year => Time.now.year %> This generates a perfectly functional set of date fields that work just fine but.... They default to today's date which is not ideal for a date of birth field (I'm not sure what is but unless you're running a neonatal unit today's date seems less than ideal). I want it to read Jan 1 2010 instead (or 2011 or whatever year it happens to be). Using the :default option has proven unsuccessful. I've tried many possibilities including; <%= f.date_select :date_of_birth, :default => {:year => Time.now.year, :month => 'Jan', :day => 1}, :start_year => Time.now.year - 110, :end_year => Time.now.year %> and <%= f.date_select :date_of_birth, :default => Time.local(2010,'Jan',1), :start_year => Time.now.year - 110, :end_year => Time.now.year %> None of this changes the behaviour of the first example. Does the default option actually work as described? It seems that this should be a fairly straightforward thing to do. Ta.

• SharePoint: Filtering a List that has Folders

  I have a SharePoint document library that has a folder structure used for organizing the documents (but also for controlling access, via permissions on the folders). The documents in the library are updated every month, and we store every month's version of the document in the same folder; there's a "month" column used for filtering that will contain values like Jan 09, Feb 09, etc. It looks like this: Title Month ----- ----- SubFolder 1 SubFolder 2 [] Interesting Facts Jan 09 [] Interesting Facts Feb 09 [] Interesting Facts Mar 09 [] Fascinating Numbers Jan 09 [] Fascinating Numbers Feb 09 ... Now, because users will generally be most interested in the 'current' month, I'd like them to be able to apply a filter, and select (say) Mar 09. However, if they do this using the built-in filtering, it also filters out the folders, and they can no longer navigate the folder hierarchy. This is no good - I want them to be able to move between folders with the filter intact, so that they don't need to keep switching it off and on again. I figured I might be able to use a custom view (selecting where type=folder or month=[month]), and to an extent that does work. However, I can only get it to work for a fixed month, whereas I need the user to be able to select the month - perhaps via a drop-down control on the page (and I don't want to create 60 views for 5 years' worth of months, nor do I want to have to create a new view every month). I thought it might be possible to create a view in code (rather than via the UI), but I've not been able to figure out how to get a dynamic value (a user-specific setting) into the CAML query. Any pointers gratefully appreciated! And by the way, I am aware of the dogma that folders are bad, and that everything should just be a list. However, having considered the alternatives, I still favour using folders - if I can solve this problem. Thanks in advance.

• Excel how to get an average for column for rows that meet multiple criteria

  I would like to know the average days between open and close dates for an item with a close date in a particular month. So from the below example in Jan 2013 items 2,5 and 6 were closed (Closed can be RESOLVED or CANCELLED status), each were open for 26, 9 and 6 days respectivly. So of the jobs that have a closed date in Jan 2013 (between 01/01/2013 and 13/02/13) they have an average open time (between open and close date) of 13.67 days to 2dp. I have tried a few ways to get this to work and i think the issue I am having is with the AVERAGE function. First time using a forum so apologies if my question is unclear. • Permission denied message when starting gfs2

So I create a copy of it and run that instead and that works. • Logrotate Successful, original file goes back to original size

  Has anyone had any issues with logrotate before that causes a log file to get rotated and then go back to the same size it originally was?   Hi, I managed to setup a SVN (over SSL) server and TortoiseSVN client on Win. I made a Post-Commit Hook for test project. The Post-Commit will update the web dir so the App in PHP can be executed with the newest version. It all works when done over shell. The only problem is, when i commit the changes over the client in Win the change is commited but HOOK throws error post-commit hook failed (exit code 1) with output: Error validating server certificate for 'https://SERVER_IP:443': - The certificate is not issued by a trusted authority. • Failed to configure CA certificate chain

  Hi All, I'm trying to setup SSL on fedora with apache. In my vhost... SSLCertificateFile /your/path/to/crt.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /your/path/to/key.key SSLCertificateChainFile /your/path/to/DigiCertCA.crt I had it working fine with a self signed key, but can't get it to work with the DigiCertCA crt. When I run service httpd restart It fails to start. This is what I get in the logs... • Why is ntpd not updating the time on my server?

  In need to find the age in days - months - years in OpenOffice. There is DATEDIF() in Microsoft Excel. You can use it to find the difference in days/months/years between two dates. Age Calculation You can calculate a persons age based on their birthday and todays date. The calculation uses the DATEDIF() function. The DATEDIF() is not documented in Excel 5, 7 or 97, but it is in 2000. (Makes you wonder what else Microsoft forgot to tell us!) • My ubuntu server is losing connectivity, require assistance troubleshooting

  I have two server monitoring tools that check the uptime of my Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS server. Over the last month both of these tools have reported the following outages: Jan - 15mins: self recovery Jan - 5 mins: self recovery Feb - 15mins: I managed to be online when this happened and logged into my control panel to find that my server was shutdown. I manually restarted it only because I was online. I wonder if it would have restarted? I have contacted my VPS provider (webbynode) who could not see any any problems with their VPS infrastructure for the February outage. I have also checked the following log files to see if there are any anomalies that could be the cause of the outages; I am unable to see anything related to the server shutdown (Feb) in these logs: /var/log/auth.log /var/log/apache2/error.log /var/log/syslog /var/log/kern.log /var/log/boot /var/log/messages Could anyone suggest any other things I should look out for, such as additional system logs? I just added bootlogging through /etc/default/bootlogd

• Cross-update Word Fields

  I want to change a date in a field within my word document, and have it update a couple other fields automatically within the same document. The behavior I'm seeking is basically the same as what a spreadsheet can do. Is this possible? More specifically, if the first page of the document has the date Jan 20 2012, I want to be able to change it, and then watch a couple other dates elsewhere automatically change to either the same date or the same date plus six days. I would also "settle" for having all three fields updated from a central document property (though I don't know how to create one of those properties). Regardless of which approach is used, I want one of the dates to be <value> plus six days such as Jan 26 2012 based on the earlier example I gave.

• What could cause a file system to spontaneously unmount or become invalid for a short time?

  We've got DB2 LUW running on a RHEL box. We had a crash of DB2 and IBM came back and said that a file that DB2 was trying to access (through open64()) unmounted or became invalid. We have done nothing but restart the database and things seem to be running fine. Also, the file in question looks perfectly normal now: $ cd /db/log/TEAMS/tmsinst/NODE0000/TEAMS/T0000000/ $ ls -l total 557604 -rw------- 1 tmsinst tmsinst 570425344 Jan 14 10:24 C0000000.CAT $ file C0000000.CAT C0000000.CAT: data $ lsattr C0000000.CAT ------------- C0000000.CAT $ ls -l total 557604 -rw------- 1 tmsinst tmsinst 570425344 Jan 14 10:24 C0000000.CAT With those facts in hand (please correct me if I am mis-interpreting the data at hand) what could cause a file system to 'spontaneously unmount or become invalid for a short time'? What should my next step be? This is on Dell hardware and we ran their diagnostic tools against the hardware and it came back clean.

• How to force browsers to always reload xslt files?

  Related: Apache: How can I force the browser to reload CSS files? I'm building an xml page (on an apache2) that is supposed to be translated to xhtml by the browser, so my server also serves a main.xslt which is used as stylesheet by the xml file, similar to the scenario with the css files in the linked question. However, none of tricks provided in either that answer, nor some issues on SO solve the issue for Opera. While Firefox responds to F5 by fetching not only the xml file but also the xslt file, Opera only reloads the xml file. I tried both, setting the Last-Modified HTTP header via an .htaccess file and using the expires module of apache2. This is what my .htaccess looks right now: AddType text/xsl;charset=utf-8 .xslt ExpiresByType text/xsl "modification plus 1 second" Header set Last-Modified "Wed, 08 Jan 2000 23:11:55 GMT" #Header set Last-Modified "Wed, 08 Jan 2020 23:11:55 GMT" If I open the xsl myself and manually reload it, the xml presentation is updated as well, but this is tedious for development. • Oracle Virtualbox does not open since upgrade
