  • puppet master --compile logs errors to stdout

    I see a bug about this that was accepted and then closed a year ago: http://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/3670 but I'm using puppet 2.7.14 and am getting the same issue. I'm trying to use "puppet solo" (i.e. just running puppet apply on each server to be configured) as I only have 2 or 3 servers in this project and adding another server as a puppetmaster would be completely overkill. Unless I'm mistaken, the best way to apply a node manually to a server is to do: puppet master --compile=mynode > catalog.json puppet apply --catalog catalog.json But the puppet master command outputs a couple of warnings and notices to stdout, mixed in with the desired json content. And it uses colored output so I can't just pipe it through egrep -v '^warning:' EDIT: I guess it's not too big of a deal to use grep - since puppet 2.7 pretty-prints the actual content and the warnings don't ever start with spaces, piping the output through egrep '^( |{|})' works So my questions are basically: Is there a better way than this to apply a puppet node without using a puppetmaster? I can't really find any good references online to using puppet without a puppetmaster, even though that seems like a perfectly reasonable thing to do for a small project. Is there a setting or flag that I'm missing that will get puppet master to stop being an asshole and send its errors to stderr instead of stdout? Or do I really have to turn off color logging, then grep to exclude warning: and notice: lines?

  • Puppet gives SSL error because master is not running?

    I started with two clean machines this time. My master is running 12.04 Version: 2.7.11-1ubuntu2 Depends: ruby1.8, puppetmaster-common (= 2.7.11-1ubuntu2) My client is 10.04 Version: 2.6.3-0ubuntu1~lucid1 Depends: puppet-common (= 2.6.3-0ubuntu1~lucid1), ruby1.8 To setup Puppet tutorial: http://shapeshed.com/setting-up-puppet-on-ubuntu-10-04/ To connect master and client: http://shapeshed.com/connecting-clients-to-a-puppet-master/ The first time I tried to connect master to client failed with SSL_connect error. So I did rm -rf /etc/puppet/ssl/ to remove all the keys inside ssl folders. It looked like it work.... I also have a master sheet in another workbook where i want individual data enter on those sheets precisely sheets 1 should copy to the next available row of sheet 1 in the master sheet as the users enter them. i need a vba code that can copy each record without copying a duplicate row in the master sheet but highlight the duplicate row and lookup the initial record in a master sheet and return the name of the Imputer looking up the row say column ( I) where each user sign there initials after every row of entry like below.     Hello, I want to show a master / detail relationship using two datagridviews and DataRelation in C#. The relation between the master and the detail table is an ID from type string (and there is no chance to change the ID to type integer). It seems like the DataGridView is not able to update the detail view when changing the row in the master table. Does anybody know if it is possible to achieve a master / detail view using a string ID and if yes, how? Or do I have to use an external DataGrid from another company? Thanks for any help Daniel

    Short version: How do I set a Git remote's HEAD ref to point to something besides "master"? My project has a policy not to use a "master" branch (all branches are to have meaningful names). Furthermore, the canonical master repository is only accessible via ssh://, with no shell access (like GitHub or Unfuddle). My problem is that the remote repository still has a HEAD reference to refs/heads/master, but I need it to point to a different branch. This is causing two problems: When cloning the repo, there this, warning: remote HEAD refers to nonexistent ref, unable to checkout. That's confusing and inconvenient. The web-based code browser depends on HEAD as a basis for browsing the tree. I need HEAD to point to a valid branch, then.

    Dear all. I want to write an enterprise software and now I'm in the DB design phase. The software will have some master data such as Suppliers, Customers, Inventories, Bankers... I considering 2 options: Put each of these on one separate table. The advantage: the table will have all necessary information for that kind of master file (Customer: name, address,.../Inventory: Type, Manufacturer, Condition...). Disadvantage: Not flexible. When I want to have a new type of master data, such as Insurer, I have to design another table. Put all in one table and this table have foreign key to another table which have type of each kind of master data (table 1: id, data_type, code, name, address....; table 2: data_type, data_type_name). Advantage: flexible - if I want more master data such as Insurer, I just put in table 2: code: 002, name: Insurer, and then put detail each insurer into table 1). Disadvantage: table 1 must have sufficient field to store all kind of information including: customer name, address, account, inventory's manufacturer, inventory's quality...). So which method do you usually do (or you think work better). Thank you very much

  • Git remote has master but no HEAD

    I'm new to Git, so I suspect that I'm misunderstanding something here, but I'll ask anyway. Via TortoiseGit I do the following: Init a new Git repo locally Add a readme file to it and commit Add a new remote Push the new repo to the orgin (remote) If I then Browse Refs I see the following: heads/master remotes/origin/master What I find odd is that I don't see a HEAD on the remotes. If I delete my local repo and then clone it from the server (I just pushed to above) and then browse the refs I see: heads/master remotes/origin/HEAD remotes/origin/master So why don't I see a remote head after the initial push? NB. I've done the same via Git Bash command (ie. not Tortoise Git) and am seeing the same thing.
