  • How to conform to update-rc.d with LSB standard?

    How do I block this particular "auto refresh" script on Drudge Report from running in my Firefox browser? I have NoScript and AdblockPlus plugins installed, but neither of them explain how to filter out a particular script and keep it from running and leave the rest alone. I don't want to stop all javascripts from running just the one listed below. Any help would be appreciated.   • SQL Server Logs: missing date ranges

    I need to be able to export SQL Server logs into CSV files, which I can easily do with the export function. However in doing so I've noticed there's a range of dates missing from the SQL Server logs in Management Studio, two months actually. I'm wondering where these logs might be found, and if it's possible to reload them so I can view and then export them. They're strictly for informational purposes, but I do need them.   • VMware Server 2.0 in Linux loads a blank screen at the login page

    I'm using VMware Server 2.0.1-156745.i386 for Linux on Ubuntu 8.10. When I run "vmware", it brings up what is supposed to be the login page in a browser, but it just loads a blank page. This is the address: https://127.0.0.1:8333/ui/ Sometimes the login page comes back if you reload it a bunch of times, but this time it won't. Doing this also doesn't help: /etc/init.d/vmware restart Does anyone know why this happens, and how to fix it?

  • safely remove webserver from nginx backent pool?

    We have 4 webservers behind nginx being hit with 262 events/second. I would like to tell nginx to stop sending requests to that server. If I remove the server from the file and reload the file, aren't all requests in process dropped on the floor then as nginx no longer knows that server. What can I add to the config so it slowly drops that server out of the pool and I can wait for current requests to complete.

  • Samba deny host not blocking that host

    I want to block access to some Samba shares from a certain machine, but somehow I can't get it to work: the machine can still access the shares, and I did restart and reload the samba daemon.   • Possible to see % uploaded when uploading a file using a form?

    I'm attempting to submit my iPhone app to iTunesConnect. The pictures loaded fine, and I picked "submit binary later" because iTunesConnect kept having the connection reset. I'm using Firefox to upload the binary. Is there any way I can see the % or data transferred of a specific file uploading, in real time? It would be great to see that the bits haven't moved in a while and manually reload the page instead of waiting for the connection to reset. Cheers

Failing which, it will not be possible for your consumers to install and use your extensions on Visual Studio 2013.   Objective In this blog post, I’ll show you how simple it is to upgrade your Visual Studio 2012 extension to Visual Studio 2013. There aren’t any reported breaking changes between VS 2012 SDK and VS 2013 SDK, the upgrade usually involves, rebuilding the extension against VS 2013 SDK and updating the vsix manifest file.              Walkthrough Download the Visual Studio 2013 SDK - You will need to download the Visual Studio 2013 SDK in order to open up the Visual Studio extension project in Visual Studio 2013. The SDK can be downloaded from here. Install the SDK before you proceed.                2. Once the VS 2013 SDK has been installed, open up your package project. For the purposes of this blog post, I’ll open up the Avanade Extension – Software Inventory in Visual Studio 2013. You will notice that Visual Studio doesn’t load the project but let’s you know that the project needs to be Migrated.                  3. Right click the project and choose the option ‘Reload Project’ from the Context Menu.                  4. Choosing the Reload Project option brings up an upgrade window, telling you that the upgrade is a one way only upgrade i.e. the project will be changed to work with Visual Studio 2013 and you will not be able to open the project up in Visual Studio 2012. My recommendation would be to create a Visual Studio 2013 branch and upgrading the project in that branch only, so if you need to go back to Visual Studio 2012 project at some point, you have a handy reference in a separate branch.             5. Upon clicking Ok, the project is updated. See below, the following changes are made at the time of upgrade,           - The runtime version is updated in the Resources.Designer.cs file                      - The Minimum version of Visual Studio in the package project file is changed from 11.0 to 12.0                    6. Reference VS 2013 dll’s rather than VS 2012 dll’s. So reference Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Client.dll and Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Controls.dll from C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\ReferenceAssemblies\v2.0 and C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\ReferenceAssemblies\v4.5. If you have any other API references, then change the references to point to VS 2013 instead of VS 2012.                          7. Rebuild your solution to ensure there are no breaking changes. Success!                8. Update VSIX Manifest file (the file source.extnsion.vsixmanifest contains the meta data for your VSIX).          - Update the Install Targets from 11.0 to 12.0. This basically enforces that the extension can be installed on Visual Studio 2013 version of Visual Studio.                         - Update the Dependencies from Visual Studio MPF 11.0 to Visual Studio MPF 12.0              9. Rebuild the solution and open up the bin folder for the Package project and look for the file *.vsix file [Microsoft Visual Studio Extension].         - This is basically the installer for your extension.                 - Double click the installer to launch the installer wizard. Viola! You can see the package installation wizard opens up and gives you the option to install the extension for Visual Studio 2013.                    - Click Install to Continue                    - Note – If you run into the exception “23/06/2013 10:42:18 - Install Error : Microsoft.VisualStudio.ExtensionManager.InstallByMsiException: The InstalledByMSI element in extension Avanade Extensions cannot be 'true' when installing an extension through the Extensions and Updates Installer.  The element can only be 'true' when an MSI lays down the extension manifest file.” Ensure you have the option “This VSIX is installed by Windows Installer” unchecked in the Install Targets tab.        10. Verifying that the extension has installed correctly.           - Open Extension Manager and verify that the installed extension shows up in the extension manager “list of installed VSIX”.                      11. First Look at the updated Extension                         - The links have now been moved to the context menu, so to see the navigation links, you’ll have to right click on the icon and select the option from the context menu.                                        Note – The Avanade Extension being used in the demo has been developed by Utkarsh and Tarun. The Software Inventory Extension for Visual Studio 2012…  allows you to see the list of Software installed on the hosted build server right from with in Visual Studio,  the extension also allows you to export this list to excel. As the per the release note from Mozilla this build works on the out of process plug-in module for Adobe Flash, Apple QuickTime or Microsoft Silver light plug-in, so that If a plug-in crashes or freezes, it will not affect the rest of Firefox.   • Visual Studio 2012 - Setting the target framework in C++ Projects

    The Visual Studio 2012 doesn’t have a UI to set the Target Framework in C++ Projects.     Target Framework : 4.0   The online documentation does say to edit the .vcxproj project and change the TargetFrameworkVersion Tag. However, The C++ projects don’t have that tag by default. They just assume that the target framework is v4.0.   Instead, you have to add the TargetFrameworkVersion-Tag to the PropertyGroup Globals.   1: <PropertyGroup Label="Globals"> 2: ... 3: <RootNamespace>...</RootNamespace> 4: <TargetFrameworkVersion>v4.5</TargetFrameworkVersion> 5: </PropertyGroup>   When you reload the project, the target framework version in your project will be changed.   • Which, among the humble indie bundle V games, work on 10.04?

    Inevitably, I've coughed up for the latest Humble Bundle, containing 5 games: Amnesia, Bastion, Limbo, Psychonauts and Superbrothers: Sword and Sorcery. At the download page it says download for ubuntu but after that it transpired (after much head scratching) that the three games it lists "are not available for your version of ubuntu". The other two, Bastion and Psychonauts "will appear on the page soon", but until then does anybody think they might work? I don't want to to be disappointed after downloading a 4gb file, causing me to reminisce on childhood memories of loading 8-bit tape games for 45 minutes only to find out that you had to reload them once you died after 30 seconds in.

    Hi There is this weird problem going on with putting ssl on the server I keep on getting this error in the terminal after I already created the .key and .crt files but it keeps on saying I placed the files in the conf.d directory and I already configured the thing so there is something that I did wrong there I also used openssl to create a .key and the .crt files thanks for the help if anyone can service apache2 reload Syntax error on line 1 of /etc/apache2/conf.d/www.domainname.crt Invalid command '-----BEGIN', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration Action 'conftest' failed. The Apache error log may have more information. ...fail!

  • tail-like view on HTML logfiles

    I'm working on an application that creates HTML log files. I'm tired of having to manually reload and scroll to the bottom in the browser to see the latest entries. A solution that does not really satisfy me is using the Firefox plugins ReloadEvery and ScrollyFox. In many situations reloading frequency and scrolling speed are just to slow. Of course I could actually use tail, but I would prefer a rendered HTML page. Do you have any suggestions? Firefox extensions are preferred, but any other tip is appreciated, too.

  • ETPS/" Elantech Touchpad fails detecting single finger

    I have a new laptop with an "ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad". A single finger is only detected, if it is held in such a way that a big area touches the pad. If one touches the pad only with the fingertip, it wil not be detected, both for clicking and for moving the pointer. Strangley, two-finger gestures are detected even if the pad is only touched with the fingertips. On ubuntuusers.de I found that Elantech touchpads require to reload the psmouse-module by: sudo modprobe -r psmouse sudo modprobe psmouse proto=imps If I do this, one finger finally gets detected as it should, but all two or more finger gestures stop working. Also grep -B 5 mouse /proc/bus/input/devices tells that the touchpad now is identified as a mouse, while before the changes it was identified correctly as ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad.

  • Volume indicator issue after xubuntu 13.10 upgrade

    Last night I decided to upgrade my system to the latest version of Xubuntu, 13.10. The process went fine, but now I'm facing this strange issue. There is no sound settings available in the settings manager window and the volume indicator looks like when the volume is muted, clicking the indicator being broken as well. The indicator looks like this: I tried to do a alsa force-reload followed by a restart of the computer, but didn't help. Any thoughts ? l.e. After some digging I found out that the volume control exists, so this must be a volume indicator issue.

  • Loading files during run time

    I made a content pipeline extension (using this tutorial) in XNA 4.0 game. I altered some aspects, so it serves my need better, but the basic idea still applies. Now I want to go a step further and enable my game to be changed during run time. The file I am loading trough my content pipeline extension is very simple, it only contains decimal numbers, so I want to enable the user to change that file at will and reload it while the game is running (without recompiling as I had to do so far). This file is a very simplified version of level editor, meaning that it contains rows like: 1 1,5 1,78 -3,6 Here, the first number determines the object that will be drawn to the scene, and the other 3 numbers are coordinates where that object will be placed. So, how can I change the file that contains these numbers so that the game loads it and redraws the scene accordingly? Thanks

  • Google analytics goal funnel visualization issues

    This is the goal funnel for checkout. Does anyone have any idea where the "/" is coming from? The cart page is at site: game on glove dot com (I don't want this stackoverflow page being indexed in google particularly well). Go to the site, click on the order button, make your selection, and click the button to enter the cart (it resolves to /Cart and /Shop-Cart). I believe I used the regular expression matching to match "cart". So why the "/" (I don't know what is causing the home page to reload when users are on the Cart page within a Colorbox lightbox where the only way back to home or "/" is to hit the exit button in the top right of the lightbox)? Here's my one guess for the former question but it doesn't seem likely: See the "check out with paypal" button? If you hovered over it, it does default to the home page which is what might be the "/"... but it really redirects the user to the paypal.com page so it shouldn't also load the home page.

As explained in the answer above, this is achieved by adding: # avoid duplicates.. export HISTCONTROL=ignoredups:erasedups # append history entries.. shopt -s histappend # After each command, save and reload history export PROMPT_COMMAND="history -a; history -c; history -r; $PROMPT_COMMAND" This works fine if the bash shells are separate (e.g. opening different bash terminals using CTRL+ALT+T. However it doesn't work if I use tabs (from an open terminal `CTRL+SHIFT+T) rather than new windows. Why this difference in behaviour? How can I share the bash history also among various tabs?

    I am currently running a small affiliate-program for Facebook users. We use an auto-poster to publish links to fan pages. Every hit is stored in our database and we have included a 24 hour reload block for the IP-addresses. My problem right now is that the PHP script also stores every hit from all the bots that crawls my website. Now I was thinking to block those bots with the robots.txt of my website but I am afraid that this will have a negative effect on my AdSense ads. Does anybody have an idea for me how to work this out?

  • sudo: source: command not found

    I've been updating some of the default profile for bash, and saw from the tutorials I was following that I could reload the new profile with the new environment settings by using: source /etc/bash.bashrc The only thing is - the new environment variables were only available to my current user - and were ignored when I used sudo. They only became available to sudo when I closed my terminal session and rejoined. When I try to use: sudo source /etc/bash.bashrc I get the error: sudo: source: command not found Is there a simple way to load in the new bash profile settings for sudo without having to close the terminal and restart?
