• Problem with Google App Engine Appstats

  I'm having an issue getting Appstats to work correctly. Using /appstats or /appstats/stats ends up in an infinite loop that keeps redirecting back to /appstats/stats. This results in a 404 error saying the page isn't redirecting properly. Any idea what the issue is? Here are the relevant lines in my appengine-web.xml. • How can I prevent Telerik RadChart from generating an onerror attribute?

  We're using the Telerik Rad Controls for ASP.Net Ajax on an ASP.Net MVC project. I can't see any way to control the markup that this control generates. Google searches provide no help. Has anyone dealt with this before? How do I remove the onerror attribute?

• Compression algorithm for IEEE-754 data

  Anyone have a recommendation on a good compression algorithm that works well with double precision floating point values? We have found that the binary representation of floating point values results in very poor compression rates with common compression programs (e.g. Zip, RAR, 7-Zip etc). The data we need to compress is a one dimensional array of 8-byte values sorted in monotonically increasing order. The values represent temperatures in Kelvin with a span typically under of 100 degrees. The number of values ranges from a few hundred to at most 64K. Clarifications All values in the array are distinct, though repetition does exist at the byte level due to the way floating point values are represented. A lossless algorithm is desired since this is scientific data. Conversion to a fixed point representation with sufficient precision (~5 decimals) might be acceptable provided there is a significant improvement in storage efficiency. • Rotate and Save Image - C#

  Hello, I'm trying to rotate and save an image, along with returning a BitmapSource. I pass in the rotation value (90 or -90) and the full path to the image I want to rotate to the method shown here. It works fine if I start and stop my application between calling this method. however, if the application calls rotate multiple times the rotate only happens once. I know the original image must be cached in memory, because if I pass values 90, 180, 270 I see the rotations work. I want to be able to pass in a value of 90 or -90 and have that rotate and save the original image. How can I make the rotate work for each call? Is there a way to clear the cached value of the image? If I don't set the BitmapCacheOption to OnLoad, I am unable to transform and save the image since the image is "being used by another process". public BitmapImage Rotate(int val, string path) { //create a new image from existing file. • Rewriting An URL With Regular Expression Substitution in Routes

  In my Pylons app, some content is located at URLs that look like http://mysite/data/31415. Users can go to that URL directly, or search for "31415" via the search page. My constraints, however, mean that http://mysite/data/000031415 should go to the same page as the above, as should searches for "0000000000031415." Can I strip leading zeroes from that string in Routes itself, or do I need to do that substitution in the controller file? If it's possible to do it in routing.py, I'd rather do it there - but I can't quite figure it out from the documentation that I'm reading.

• Will html5 change everything for designers?

  What impact do you think html5 will have on the workflow/way graphic design is done for the web? Right now most designers stay in an Adobe tool, doing most of the design work there, and implement some elements with graphics and some with code. Checking out http://www.apple.com/html5/ it seems that almost everything done in a graphic can be done in code. Will designers have to learn very advanced levels of html5 and do the actual design work in the browser or do you see a more "designer friendly" gui being made for html/graphics work? Will tools like photoshop evolve in a way that handles this new lack of image files?

  I'm trying to develop a grid-like application for the iPad. Has anyone seen a control that displays info in a grid? In the demos they use a grid-like layout in both the iBooks store and the pictures application. Specifically in pictures, they are displaying a dynamic list of data in a grid. I can work around it, of course, but I'd rather use a control if one exists. Thanks!

• WinDbg fails to find symbol file reporting 'unrecognized OMF sig'

  I have received a 64bit dump of a 32bit app that was running on Win7 x64. I am able to load it in WinDbg (hint: !wow64exts.sw) running on a 64bit OS. The symbols for most of my dlls are loaded properly. The pdb for one though does not load. The same pdb does load properly for the same dll when reading a 32bit dump on a different system. I've also confirmed that the dll and pdb match each other via the chkmatch utility. I tried .symopt +40 but the pdb still didn't load. I did !sym noisy then .reload - WinDbg reported: DBGHELP: unrecognized OMF sig: 811f1121 *** ERROR: Symbol file could not be found. Defaulted to export symbols Any ideas on what to try to get WinDbg to load my pdb when reading a 64bit dump?

• API Wrapper Architecture Best Practice

  Hi, So I'm writing a Perl wrapper module around a REST webservice and I'm hoping to have some advice on how best to architect the module. I've been looking at a couple of different Perl modules for inspiration. Flickr::Simple2 - so this is basically one big file with methods wrapping around the different methods in the Flickr API, e.g. getPhotos() etc. Flickr::API - this is a sub-class of another module (LWP) for making HTTP requests. So basically it just allows you to make calls through the module, using LWP, that go to the correct API method/URL without defining any wrapper methods itself. (That's explained pretty poorly - but basically it has a method that takes an argument (a API method name) and constructs the correct API call). e.g request() / response(). An alternative design would be like the first described, but less monolithic, with separate classes for separate "areas" of the API. I'd like to follow modern/best practice Perl methods so I'm using Dist::Zilla to build the module and Moose for the OO stuff but I'd appreciate some input on how to actually design/architect my wrapper. Guides/tutorials or pointers to other well designed modules would be appreciated. Cheers

  I am a WCF / Security Newb. I have created a WCF service which is hosted via a windows service. The WCF service grabs data from a 3rd party data source that is secured via windows authentication. I need to either: Pass the client's priveleges through the windows service, through the WCF service and into the 3rd party data source, or... Limit who can call the windows service / wcf service to members of a particular AD group. Any suggestions on how I can do either of these tasks?

• ASP.NET Line Breaks in Title Element

  I'm trying to optimize SEO readability on our websites and one issue I've come across is ASP.NET butchering the title element of my MasterPage. Entered as such in my MasterPage (manually reformatted to remove line breaks caused by the <% %> tags): <title><asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="TitleContent" runat="server" /> - <%=WebsiteSettings.WebsiteName %></title> This is the output I receive: <title> Home - Website Name</title> As you can see ASP.NET is adding preceding and trailing line breaks where the <asp:ContentPlaceHolder /> is substitute becaused Visual Studio auto-formats <asp:Content /> to start and end with a line break. Obviously, this can be prevented in the Visual Studio formatting options, but this is not ideal because I only would want to remove that behavior for the TitleContent placeholder and not the rest. Is there any way I can ensure my Title is trimmed before it is rendered? I am using MVC so code-behind is not an acceptable option.

• How to best implement Version Control for Web Development?

  Version control systems are obviously important in development projects but there use in web development projects appears to be more complex, what with the requirement of having a web server to run all but the simplest of web applications. With that in mind, I have looked around and discovered a few different methods of using version control in web development projects: Provide each developer with a virtual machine which is a replication of the development server and have the developer run their working copy of the application in the virtual machine. Have each developer use a sub domain on the development server, e.g. john.project.com and checkout their working copy of the app to the directories the sub domain points to. Use the version control system to checkout code, make a change, commit the code and then check it on the development server (which points to the head of the repository). I can see a drawback of 1 being the added time required to create the virtual machines and ensure that the virtual machines are kept insync with the development server (also the need(?) to continuously change the developers host file to point at the virtual machine not the development server). I can see 2 possibly being a problem if absolute URLs are used within the site unless there is an easy way to update the configuration to use the new subdomains as well. 3 is the easiest to set up but is rather primitive and it will presumably become quite tedious for a developer to keep checking in the code after every time change. How have the users of stackoverflow used version control with web development projects and which method/workflow was most effective. Please also include extra methods I haven't thought of / read about.

  I've read in one of my AI books that popular algorithms (A-Star, Dijkstra) for path-finding in simulation or games is also used to solve the well-known "15-puzzle". Can anyone give me some pointers on how I would reduce the 15-puzzle to a graph of nodes and edges so that I could apply one of these algorithms? If I were to treat each node in the graph as a game state then wouldn't that tree become quite large? Or is that just the way to do it?

• Are there any code libraries that validate/convert blog comments to XHTML strict?

  I am working on a website in PHP where people can make comments similar to a blog, and I only want particular tags to be allowed. Are there any pre-built libraries that process comments and produce valid XHTML Strict code? I would need to do this in JavaScript so I can generate a live preview like Stack Overflow, plus in PHP before saving it to a MySQL database. The allowed HTML tags will be: strong, em, blockquote, and links (rel=nofollow not required) One way would be to allow people to directly enter the HTML into the comment field but I would prefer to use a simple mark up something like this (can be different - this is an example): *strong* _em_ [blockquote] http://www.link.com I want line breaks to be converted to <br />. Are there any code libraries that do the above?

[DTVehicleValueRange] VehicleId DTVehicleValueRangeId AverageValue ... [DTValueRange] DTVehicleValueRangeId RangeMin RangeMax RangeValue Note that DTValueRange does not have a VehicleID. I want to flatten DTVehicleValueRange into my Vehicle class. Tgis works fine for AverageValue, since it's just a plain value, but I can't seem to get a ValueRange collection to map correctly. public VehicleMap() { Id(x => x.Id, "VehicleId"); Join("DTVehicleValueRange", x => { x.Optional(); x.KeyColumn("VehicleId"); x.Map(y => y.AverageValue).ReadOnly(); x.HasMany(y => y.ValueRanges).KeyColumn("DTVehicleValueRangeId"); // This Guy }); } The HasMany mapping doesn't seem to do anything if it's inside the Join. If it's outside the Join and I specify the table, it maps, but nhibernate tries to use the VehicleID, not the DTVehicleValueRangeId. What am I doing wrong?

  Hi All, I need to change the locale/language of the browse button in input type="file" We have a special function to change the locale of any text to the browser language such as en-US es-MX etc. Say changeLang("Test"); //This will display test in spanish if the browser locale is es-MX What I need to do is to change the language of the browse button. • Eclipse IDE's Hello World Cheatsheet seems to have a mistake

  Hey guys, Just a warning: I'm completely new to Java and am trying to teach myself Android programming. I installed the Eclipse IDE today and tried to walk through the first Java Hello World "cheat sheet," and it didn't work! I was really quite surprised. When it asked me to select the checkbox to create the main() method, there wasn't anything on-screen that looked like a checkbox with "main()" or "method" next to it, so I guessed that maybe what they meant was the "Modifiers" radio button. So I left that checked for "public." It didn't compile and I got red X's next to every folder in my Package Explorer. Has anybody else had this problem? Thanks!
