• Unix: Sync directory with FTP or SFTP directory

  I have a website on my local computer running Mac OS X. I am wondering if there is any built-in command that I can run in the Terminal that will upload that website to my webserver either through FTP or, if possible, SFTP. Installing new commands through MacPorts is also a possibility. A big bonus would be that it only uploaded the files that needs to be updated and not everything else. It would also be nice if I can tell it to delete the files on the server that no longer exists locally once in a while. Any good tips?

• mod_rewrite directory path to deeper directory

  I don't usually work with LAMP and am a bit stumped getting a site working locally. The site is set up to be used via localhost: 1) http://localhost/mysite However, the way the site files are physically on the server the root is located as such: 2) /var/www/mysite/trunk/site I'm trying to figure out a way where I could type #1 but have apache actually looking for the files in #2 so that all of the asset/page links in the web application work. Is mod_rewrite the solution? If so, I'm stumped on the syntax. I have this but it won't work (due, I assume, to it causing an infinite loop) RewriteRule ^mysite/ mysite/trunk/site I have a hunch I need to sprinkle on some regex?

• Can vCenter 4 authenticate and authorize against a virtual directory server??

  Hi I am looking into Identity managment in our environment. We currently use Active Directory and Sun's Enterprise Directory server (6.3). I was wondering if I used the Virtual Directory Server of the Enterprise Directory server, would we be able to point the vCenter clients to this Directory service for authentication and authorization rather than at the AD source. The reason for this is that we have more users we want to add to the management role of this server but not all are in AD, a fair number are in the Sun LDAP v3. directory. Thanks in advance Ian

• Impersonation in asp.net, confused about implmentation when used with Active Directory & Sql Server

  I have an internal website that is using integrated windows authentication and this website uses sql server & active directory queries via the System.Directory.Services namespace. To use the System.Directory.Services namespace in ASP.NET I have to run IIS under an account that has the correct privileges and importantly have impersonation set to true in the web config. If this is done then when I make a query against AD then the credentials of the wroker process (IIS) are used instead of the ASPNET account and therefore the queries will now succeed. Now if I am also using Sql Server with a connection string configured for integrated security ('Integrated Security=SSPI') then this interprets the ASP.NET impersonation to mean that I want to access the database as the windows credentials of the request no the worker process. I hope I'm wrong and that I've got the config wrong, but I don't think I have and this seems not to be inconsistent? It should be noted I'm using IIS 5.1 for development and obivously this doesn't have the concept of app-pools which I believe would resolve the problem.

  Hi, I have a server with Windows Server 2008. I want to install a new Windows Server 2008 R2 on a new hard disk but on a same machine. What is the way to backup/migrate only Active Directory? I found that migration must be done with Microsoft Active Directory Migration Tool, but it requires both source and target domains running at the same time. Any other suggests are to use an ordinary system backup/restore, but this will restore all other roles, whereas I need only Active Directory role on the new server.

I am connected to the network. I looked at IIS, and I am pretty sure that is not the problem. If so, I would really need specifics. Any help would be appreciated.

  We were trying to run fllowing code in rake file: directory "tmp" file "hello.tmp" => "tmp" do sh "echo 'Hello' >> 'tmp/hello.tmp'" end We have taken this code from http://jasonseifer.com/2010/04/06/rake-tutorial But, since we are working on windows commands like'sh','echo' wont work.. according to the explanation given for the above code, it should first create a directory 'tmp' and then create a file 'hello.tmp' which will have 'hello' as its text.. Firstly, how can we do this for windows? and Secondly, a file with extension '.tmp' sounds quite wierd.. what does 'hello.tmp' specifies? Does it simply mean that 'hello.tmp' is a text file in 'tmp' directory?

  Wrote a java code to search for users from Active Directory server. We get the user list but dont know the domain to which each user belongs. How can the domain of the user be found from Active Directory programatically. One method thought of is : 1)Get the distinguished name of user from Active Directory. 2)Parse the distinguished name. 3)Get the substring that starts the first instance of "DC=". 4)Strip off the "DC=" at the beginning. 5)Replace all instances of ",DC=" with a "." 6)What is left is the DNS domain name of the user. Is this reliable. Please suggest some other solution.

• Python change the working directory for an exe opened with startfile

  In python i'm using the os.startfile command to start a windows executable that does especific stuff in its own folder, the python code is running from another folder, so when I start the file, it starts in the python script's working directory, but it has to start in its own directory. I've tried to use os.chdir(path) to change the working directory, but it fails, the file still not runs in it's own folder. I thought maybe there is a command like shortcut's "Start in" line. I've searched everywere, but not success. The only solution comes to my mind is to create a shortcut and add the "start in" line, then launch the shortcut, but that is very impractical.

  Hello, Im doing a Java application and Im facing some doubts in which concerns performance. I have a PriorityQueue which guarantees me the element removed is the one with greater priority. That PriorityQueue has instances of class Event (which implements Comparable interface). Each Event is associated with a Entity. The size of that priorityqueue could be huge and very frequently I will have to remove events associated to an entity. Right now Im using an iterator to run all the priorityqueue. However Im finding it heavy and I wonder if there are better alternatives to search and remove events associated with an entity "xpto". Any suggestions? Thanks!

  I have a wordpress page with two or three sub-pages ("TV", "WEB", "WATCH") and I would like to have the sub-page links on the page itself. So, far, I can pull the sub-pages the following way: <?php $children = wp_list_pages('title_li&child_of='.$post->ID.'depth=1&echo=0'); if ($children) { ?> <ul> <?php echo $children; ?> </ul> <?php } ?> However, is there a way to loop through $children so I can pull each link by it's tag? i.e. using has_tag('tv'), has_tag('web') Between the wordpress conditional tags and php, I am not sure how to write this.

• InstallUtil Publishing WMI Schema to 64 Bit Directory Instead of 32 Bit Directory

  This is similar to this question, but it doesn't look like a good solution was ever determined, so I'm opening a new one with clarified details. We wrote a .NET service, which among other things, publishes some of the class hierarchy using WMI. On a 64-Bit machine, we are running the 32-bit version of InstallUtil to install the service. It installs successfully, but when the service runs, we receive the following error message when publishing a WMI class using Instrumentation.Publish() DirectoryNotFoundException - (Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Windows\system32\WBEM\Framework\root\MyNamespace\MyService'.) However, this directory does exist in the C:\Windows\syswow64 directory. If we manually copy that directory structure to the system32 directory, then everything works. However, we are looking for automated solution, because we have this packaged up in an MSI which we distribute onto many servers. We have tried running the 64-Bit version of InstallUtil, to see if that would work, however... and this is the really weird part... it gives us an error on install that says Installing WMI Schema: Started An exception occurred during the Install phase. System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Windows\system32\WBEM\Framework\root\MyNamespace\MyService.mof'. It looks as if somehow, the WMI installer flipped around. Has anyone else experienced this, or know of a work around?

• Are there any worse sorting algorithms than Bogosort (a.k.a Monkey Sort)?

  My co-workers took me back in time to my University days with a discussion of sorting algorithms this morning. We reminisced about our favorites like StupidSort, and one of us was sure we had seen a sort algorithm that was O(n!). That got me started looking around for the "worst" sorting algorithms I could find. We postulated that a completely random sort would be pretty bad (i.e. randomize the elements - is it in order? no? randomize again), and I looked around and found out that it's apparently called BogoSort, or Monkey Sort, or sometimes just Random Sort. Monkey Sort appears to have a worst case performance of O(∞), a best case performance of O(n), and an average performance of O(n * n!). Are there any named algorithms that have worse average performance than O(n * n!)? Or are just sillier than Monkey Sort in general?

I know it's not idiomatically to solve such kind of problem in functional languages, because it's naturally solved using array element transposition in imperative languages like C, rather than constructing modified list in declarative languages. However this is the code I've written: (((<./@(2&{.)), $:@((>./@(2&{.)),2&}.)) ^: (1<#)) ^: # Let's apply it to an array: (((<./@(2&{.)), $:@((>./@(2&{.)),2&}.)) ^: (1<#)) ^: # 5 3 8 7 2 2 3 5 7 8 The thing that confuses me is $: referring to the statement within the outermost parentheses. Help says that: $: denotes the longest verb that contains it. The other book (~ 300 KiB) says: 3+4 7 5*20 100 Symbols like + and * for plus and times in the above phrases are called verbs and represent functions. You may have more than one verb in a J phrase, in which case it is constructed like a sentence in simple English by reading from left to right, that is 4+6%2 means 4 added to whatever follows, namely 6 divided by 2. Let's rewrite my code snippet omitting outermost ()s: ((<./@(2&{.)), $:@((>./@(2&{.)),2&}.)) ^: (1<#) ^: # 5 3 8 7 2 2 3 5 7 8 Reuslts are the same. I couldn't explain myself why this works, why only ((<./@(2&{.)), $:@((>./@(2&{.)),2&}.)) ^: (1<#) is treated as the longest verb for $: but not the whole expression ((<./@(2&{.)), $:@((>./@(2&{.)),2&}.)) ^: (1<#) ^: # and not just (<./@(2&{.)), $:@((>./@(2&{.)),2&}.), because if ((<./@(2&{.)), $:@((>./@(2&{.)),2&}.)) ^: (1<#) is a verb, it should also form another verb after conjunction with #, i. e. one might treat the whole sentence (first snippet) as a verb. Probably there's some limit for the verb length limited by one conjunction. Look at the following code (from here): factorial =: (* factorial@<:) ^: (1&<) factorial 4 24 factorial within expression refers to the whole function, i. e. (* factorial@<:) ^: (1&<). Following this example I've used a function name instead of $:: bubblesort =: (((<./@(2&{.)), bubblesort@((>./@(2&{.)),2&}.)) ^: (1<#)) ^: # bubblesort 5 3 8 7 2 2 3 5 7 8 I expected bubblesort to refer to the whole function, but it doesn't seem true for me since the result is correct.   Hello There are 2 arrays, both with the same length and with the same keys: $a1 = [1=>2000,65=>1354,103=>1787]; $a2 = [1=>'hello',65=>'hi',103=>'goodevening']; asort($a1); The keys of a1 and a2 are id's from a database. a1 gets sorted by value. Once sorted, how can we use the same sorting order in a2? Thanks!
