  • Flurry's not collecting any data from my iPhone-app

    - by swalkner
Hi all, I want to use Flurry to collect some statistics, so I registered and created an app in Flurry. Then, I put the following code in my appDidFinishLaunching: [FlurryAPI startSession:@"code here"]; Afterwards, I installed the app on my iPhone and ran it - but I don't see any data online. Am I missing something? And is data also collected from the simulator? Thanks a lot, Stefan

  • Outstanding Silverlight User Group Meeting last night

    - by Dave Campbell
We had a great Silverlight User Group Meeting in Phoenix last night! Before I go any farther I want to say thanks again to David Silverlight and Kim Schmidt for coming to talk to us! And not to forget Victor Gaudioso over the wire :) David, Kim, and Victor talked to us about the Silverlight User Group Starter Kit they are working on with an extended stellar list of talented developers. Don't bypass looking at this by thinking it's only for a User Group... this is a solid community-supported full-up application using MVVM and Ria Services that you could take and modify for your own use. Take a look at the list of developers. Chances are you know some of them... send them an email of thanks for all the hard work over the last year! David and Kim discussed the architecture and code, demonstrating features as they went. Then Victor came in through the application itself on a high-intensity live webcast from his home in California. The audience of about 15 seemed focused and interested which says a lot about the subject and presentation. Tim Heuer came bearing some gifts (swag) ... a hard-copy of Josh Smith's Advanced MVVM , and couple cheaply upgradeable copies of VS2008 Pro that were snatched up very quickly. We also gave away a few copies of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, some Arc mice, and some Office 2007 disks... so I don't think anyone left empty-handed. Personal thanks from me go out to Mike Palermo and Tim Heuer for the surprise they had waiting for me that's been over Twitter, and to Victor for only mentioning it at least 3 times in a 5-minute webcast. Thanks for a great evening, and I look forward to seeing all of you in a couple weeks at MIX10!

  • Tmux causes Emacs glitch

    - by killy9999
Recently I started using Tmux, but I noticed that it causes a strange Emacs glitch. When I open source code for elisp or haskell, the comments aren't highlighted. Only the comment sign is (; in case of elisp, -- in case of haskell). The rest of the commented line is in normal colour. When I run Emacs outside of Tmux everything works as expected - the whole commented line is highlighted in a colour denoting a comment. Any ideas why this is happening? SOLUTION: Based on Stefan's comment I added this to my .emacs file: (custom-set-variables (custom-set-faces '(font-lock-comment-face ((((class color) (min-colors 8) (background dark)) (:foreground "red")))))) Now the comments are displayed in red, just like comment delimiters.

  • dotnet Cologne 2010

    - by WeigeltRo

  • Leaving Microsoft

    - by Stephen Walther
After two and a half years working with the ASP.NET team, I’ve decided that this is the right time to leave Microsoft and, with the help of some friends, re-launch my ASP.NET training and consulting company. The company has the modest name Superexpert. While working on my Ph.D. at MIT, I was surrounded by professors and students who were passionate about knowledge. During the Internet boom, I was lucky enough to work side-by-side with some very smart and hard-working people to create several successful startups. However, the people I worked with at Microsoft were among the smartest and hardest working. Microsoft hires a small number of people and gives them huge responsibilities. It continues to amaze me that so few people work on the ASP.NET team when you consider how much the team produces. I had the opportunity to work with a number of inspiring people at Microsoft. I’ll miss working with Scott Hunter, Dave Reed, Boris Moore, Eilon Lipton, Scott Guthrie, James Senior, Jim Wang, Phil Haack, Damian Edwards, Vishal Joshi, Mike Pope, Jon Young, Dmitry Robsman, Simon Calvert, Stefan Schackow, and many others. I’m proud of what we accomplished while I was working at Microsoft. We reached out to the jQuery team and changed direction from Microsoft Ajax to jQuery. We successfully contributed several important new features to the open-source jQuery project including jQuery Templates, jQuery Data-Linking, jQuery Globalization, and (as John Resig announced at the last jQuery conference) jQuery Require. I’m looking forward to returning to training and consulting. We want to focus on providing consulting on the “right way” of building ASP.NET websites, which we call Modern ASP.NET applications. By Modern ASP.NET applications, I mean applications built with ASP.NET MVC, jQuery, HTML5, and Visual Studio ALM. Additionally, we want to help companies that have existing ASP.NET Web Forms applications migrate to ASP.NET MVC. If you are interested in having us provide training for your company or you need help building a custom ASP.NET application then please contact us at [email protected] or visit our website at Superexpert.com.

  • RUEI 12.1.0.3.0 dependency requirement for php-soap-5.1.6

    - by sthieme
Dear Readers, please be aware of the new php-soap-5.1.6 dependency in RUEI 12.1.0.3.For a swift upgrade to RUEI 12.1.0.3 you should be aware of this pre-requisite as it can be a time-eater to obtain individual rpm-packages inside of a datacenter for an old OS revision once you have started the upgrade process. You may use the following procedure to retrieve the required package via http://public-yum.oracle.com:Customers will have to check the /etc/issue, /etc/issue.net (or /etc/redhat-release for RHEL based OS) for their current release in order to obtain the fitting package version.Customers of OEL can download the packages from our public-yum.oracle.com Server: http://public-yum.oracle.com/repo/,  e.g. http://public-yum.oracle.com/repo/OracleLinux/OL5/8/base/x86_64/php-soap-5.1.6-32.el5.x86_64.rpmEarlier releases (up to 5.5) are located under the EnterpriseLinux instead of OracleLinux path, e.g.http://public-yum.oracle.com/repo/EnterpriseLinux/EL5/5/base/x86_64/php-soap-5.1.6-27.el5.x86_64.rpmNote: you will have to obtain the relevant RedHat rpm-packages via the login protected RHN URLs. Oracle can only provide support for Oracle Enterprise Linux and RHEL packages are not available publicly via rpm-seek.com to my knowledge. Kind regards,Stefan

  • Mobile Web Applications – A guide for professional development

    - by JuergenKress
(Tobias Bosch, Stefan Scheidt, Torsten Winterberg / Opitz Consulting Deutschland GmbH). There is a real hype around mobile solutions. Smartphones and tablets are everywhere. Frontend architecture is changing quickly to adopt cross browser technologies like HTML5 and extensive JavaScript-based development. In this book we introduce our software development process to build test-driven Single-Page JavaScript Web Applications, which will be the future next to native apps. We start with a short introduction of our RYLC showcase (know from our SOA articles), give a very short introduction to JavaScript, then talk about jQuery Mobile, Angular JS, Testing, Backend-communication and we close with deploying our RYLC-Webapp as a hybrid app using the PhoneGap (Cordova) framework. Don’t expect too much theory – it’s a practical guide explaining how RYLC Web App was built, to kickstart your own development. Currently only available in German as paperback and eBook. • Escape from DataContext

    - by grayscales
I have a window that get its data from another class that is passed as DataContext. But I now also want to do data binding within the window. The window looks as follows: <Window x:Class="WpfApplication1.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="Window1" Height="300" Width="300"> <StackPanel> <TextBlock Text="{Binding UserName}" /> <TextBlock x:Name="TestTextBlock">Hello World</TextBlock> <TextBlock x:Name="TestTextBlock2" Text="{Binding ElementName=TestTextBlock,Path=Text}" /> </StackPanel> </Window> The binding between the text blocks TestTextBlock and TestTextBlock2 works fine, but only until I change the DataContext-property of the window. How can I bind between those two textblocks so that changing the DataContext will not break the data binding? Thanks in advance, Stefan

  • When to best implement a I2C driver module in Linux

    - by stefangachter
I am currently dealing with two devices connected to the I2C bus within an embedded system running Linux. I am using an exisiting driver for the first device, a camera. For the second device, I have successfully implemented a userspace program with which I can communicate with the second device. So far, both devices seem to coexist happily. However, almost all I2C devices have their own driver module. Thus, I am wondering what the advantages of a driver module are. I had a look at the following thread... http://stackoverflow.com/questions/149032/when-should-i-write-a-linux-kernel-module ... but without conclusion. Thus, what would be the advantage of writing a I2C driver module over a userspace implementation? Regards, Stefan

  • SQL Server T-SQL statement to replace/delete sub-strings

    - by StefanE
Hi, I have a table with 6 columns containing HTML content with some markups in it and now when moving to a new designed site most of this HTML code has to be deleted. More or less all tags except <B> and </B>. Is there a nice way of doing this, identify all tags end delete them within the data? I'm sure there are no < symbols in the test so a regular expression would maybe work? My alternative is to fetch every row, process it and update the database but I'm guessing this is possible to do in T-SQL directly. My server is an MSSQL 2008 and is located in a hosted environment but I can fetch a local copy if needed. Thanks, Stefan

Hi, I have a table with 6 columns containing HTML content with some markups in it and now when moving to a new designed site most of this HTML code has to be deleted. More or less all tags except and . Is there a nice way of doing this, identify all tags end delete them within the data? I'm sure there are no < symbols in the test so a regular expression would maybe work? My alternative is to fecth every row, process it and update the database but I'm guessing this is possible to do in SQL directly. Thanks, Stefan

  • Tool to monitor IE performance running JavaScript

    - by StefanE
Hi, Company I work for are one of the largest betting companies in Europe and the website has thousands of lines of JavaScript on all our pages. Lately Internet Explorer versions earlier than version 9 are running painfully slow and I want to be able to monitor what parts of a page load (including scripts) that are slow. I know that IE are slower in general and has DOM API issues etc. What I want to accomplish is a way to quickly identify slow parts and see if we can replace the code with IE specific code that will render with higher performance. Cheers, Stefan

  • Apple in-app-purchase ALWAYS with 30 % for Apple?

    - by swalkner
Hi all, I know that Apple keeps 30 % of the money I make with in-app-purchase. But does that always count? I mean, if there's a feature allowing the user to buy something with an SMS-message, is that allowed? If yes, does Apple also keep 30 % then? Or if I make a WebService-call with username/password and return something to the user then, is it possible to charge that call and keep the money for myself? I thougt that those are options which are not allowed, but there are some apps out there which exactly do it that way - are they only "lucky" and Apple didn't see that or is it allowed to sell services that way? Thanks a lot for your answers, Stefan
