  I wasn't able to activate my gizmo5 number because Google Voice activation(verification) requires you to enter two dial tones (DTMF) and they did not work at least not with these two variants: Using gizmo5 PC client using fring from Iphone as gizmo5 SIP client Redirecting gizmo5 to a US mobile number None of the above methods worked for me. • Printer redirection on server 2003

  On windows server 2003 when one user connects to the server via RDP the default printer of the server for her profile does not change to the redirected printer of the session. This only happens with the one user all the other users default printers defaults to their session printer automatically.   I have two Windows Server 2003 and both have DFS and it does replication between them. I would like to migrate the primary win2k3 DFS server to win2k8. what is the best way to do that? • Not getting native resolution of external monitor in Ubuntu

  Since there us a defect in my laptop screen, I am using an external Dell 1600x1000 monitor. Windows was recognizing the native resolution correctly. But when I installed Ubuntu 10.10, I get only up to 1024x768 in the Monitor preferences. I had a look at this and tried to add resolution by running xrandr --addmode VGA 1600×1000 but I am getting the error xrandr: cannot find output "VGA" What is the way out.

• Finding the reason of a force shutdown of a VM

  We have a linux VM running under XenServer that reboots itself with no apparent reason. Checking the /var/log files in Xen we noticed that it's sending a force shutdown to the VM, like this: messages:Dec 6 15:01:07 XenSrvDell2 BLKTAP-DAEMON[7309]: /local/domain/0/backend/tap/19/51728: got start/shutdown watch on /local/domain/0/backend/tap/19/51728/tapdisk-request What we can't find is the reason why the force-shutdown was initiated. Is there any "higher level log" that might tell us who or why triggered the shutdown?

• Can't connect my school laptop to my homegroup

  Well I've been trying quite a lot of things, it worked to connect through my other laptop which is not given by my school so there's nothing wrong with the homegroup itself. But I need a way to connect this "domain owned laptop" into my homegroup. It has IPv6 working, all the services are started and I've also deleted idstore.sst without success. • How to change the default domain controller when querying AD in a different site ?

  We have 2 different locations, and at both site we have multiple domain controllers (Win2008). In our application we use Serverless Binding to execute our LDAP queries http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms677945(v=vs.85).aspx. If we look at de DnsHostName of the LDAP://RootDse on site B we always get the default domain controller of site A. Therefor all LDAP queries go much slower. Is there a way to change the default domain controller per site ?

  We have a Delphi application running on a terminal server that keeps generating dump files. For the same PID, it keeps creating dump files with an interval of around 1 second until the process is killed manually. Another weird thing is the name of the dump files: ±_minidump_default_pid_7916_tid_x6590_2012_6_18_13_48_40.dmp ÷_minidump_default_pid_7916_tid_x6590_2012_6_18_13_48_42.dmp k_minidump_default_pid_7916_tid_x6590_2012_6_18_13_48_39.dmp Ô_minidump_default_pid_7916_tid_x6590_2012_6_18_13_48_41.dmp Ž_minidump_default_pid_7916_tid_x6590_2012_6_18_13_48_40.dmp The dump files aren't telling us much and we would like to have a suggestion where we should start looking.

• subversion on a local drive problem

  Hello guys, I am setting up subversion using this link http://svn.spears.at/ It says that "As the Subversion book warns, make sure to create all repositories on your local disks [FiberChannel is treated as a local disk]. Failing to do so, may result in repository corruption. " This us a big problem for me. Isnt there a way I can set subversion on shared drives. • Firefox on-screen buttons disappearing

  Firefox 8.0.1 ALL the on-sceen buttons on ALL sites have disappeared. I'm not talking about the toolbar buttons, I'm talking about buttons like NEXT and BACK and CONTINUE and PAY and GO TO BASKET and CONTACT US that should appear in varous parts of the screenh. Sometimes they are still visable (and clickable) as text, but in other cases they have disappeared entirely, although a click symbol still appears if you can guess where they are and mouse over them.

• How can I recursively verify the permissions within a given subdirectory?

  I'd like to verify that nothing within /foo/bar is chmod 777. Or, alternatively, I'd like to make sure that nothing within /foo/bar us owned by user1 or in group1. Is there any way I can recursively verify the permissions within a given subdirectory to make sure there aren't any security holes? Notice that I do not want to change all the permissions to something specific, nor do I want to change the owner to something specific, so a recursive chmod or chown won't do it... Thanks!

• E-ink screens for desktop PC?

  Are there PC monitors which are e-ink displays? E-ink is so much easier to read documents on that I'd rather like a secondary monitor just for documents, but I can't find any monitors available currently. Perhaps just an e-reader with some kind of remote control from a PC, so that it can be put in a cradle and display a document, but it would also need to have a fairly large screen to make it practical (perhaps something like A4 (EU) or Letter (US) sized?)

• Need to remove borders from multiple images

  I have a few hundred family images and they were all sent to us with borders that I would like to remove. Thankfully the borders are all the same size of 20 pixels and they are all .jpg so this will probably make things easier but im looking for a way to "batch process" all of them quickly so I dont need to open photoshop for each image and do it individually. I'm at a loss to figure out what's going on. How can I find out what's causing this? Update: The system is a fully 64-bit system, so there should be no question of memory limitations due to 32-bit issues. Update2: As I mentioned in the original question, I've already tried tuning swappiness to all sorts of values, including 0. The result is always the same, with approximately 1.6 GB of memory remaining unused. Update3: Added top output to the above info.
