• computer plays movie fine but ps3 plays it with no sound?

  i have a movie that plays fine on my computer but when i copy it to an SD card and play it in my PS3 it has no sound. the audio format is mpeg layer-3 bit rate is 128 frame rate is 25frames/ second data rate is 1068 kbps video sample size is 12 bit video compression is DivX i got these stats by right clicking the file and viewing properties. can i open it in some editor and re-save it? what editor? thanks all

• Python to see if a file falls into a date range

  I have a script that I want to have an if statement check if a file falls between several specified date periods as it searches directories. I have been able to get the time in %Y-%m-%d format for the file, but I can't seem to be able to specify a date range for python to go through. Any ideas/help?   I have a wps file (Microsoft Works), but no Microsoft Works, and no Microsoft Office. Ultimately, I want to get a PDF but happy to convert to an intermediate format if I can.   My cable TV company gives me a Cisco Explorer 8640HDC DVR box that can record shows from TV. I know that it contains a hard drive to save the shows on. What format and file system are used to store the videos on the hard drive? I have looked at the documentation for this DVR box and there is no technical information about the manner in which recordings are stored. Is it possible to connect the hard drive to a computer and extract the recordings from it?

  Some of the files I copy to a USB stick seems to be corrupted? Maybe the stick is bad but I haven't used it much and want to know for sure. Is there a Windows utility to test the stick? Mark bad areas as bad so the file system doesn't save to them? I format before I copy but I still get corrupted files? Does chkdsk work on USB sticks reliably?

When I change the format, the number is perversed, the number is something like 4112523 (excel probably interprets the cell as date and then converts to number or something like that...) There is a trick for importing CSV files, but is there any solution when you are pasting your data directly from a web browser?

  If I connect my Kindle Fire to the computer, Calibre gives me an option to convert to Kindle Fire mobi format. Is this different from just asking to convert to mobi? I don't want to connect my Kindle anymore, I want to send to the cloud, but I'm not willing to lose conversion quality because of lack of ebook reader information. Of course, I couldn't find the convert to Kindle option without it being connected.

• how to know if a video file can be played on a dvd player

  Is there an application that can emulate a dvd player? I've converted a .mp4 video using allok video converter. And choose the output format to be xVid(.avi)<--that is exactly what is written on the application. I don't want to waste a blank dvd and try if it really can be played. So if you have tried this before please tell me if it works. And I have tried burning .avi files and it works because they are genuine avi files which I did not convert
