• Launch configuration for an Eclipse RCP project

  I am new to Eclipse and have been asked to make some changes to an RCP project. Now I can not get it to run. Unfortunately I cannot contact the author to get some help. I would appreciate an hint which could lead to the solution.   I'm having some issues with variable scope with the capistrano-ext gem's multistage module. I currently have, in config/deploy/staging.rb. set(:settings) { YAML.load_file("config/deploy.yml")['staging'] } set :repository, settings["repository"] set :deploy_to, settings["deploy_to"] set :branch, settings["branch"] set :domain, settings["domain"] set :user, settings["user"] role :app, domain role :web, domain role :db, domain, :primary => true My config/deploy/production.rb file is similar. This doesn't seem very DRY. Ideally, I think I'd like everything to be in the deploy.rb file. If there were a variable set with the current stage, everything would be really clean. UPDATE: I found a solution. I defined this function in deploy.rb: def set_settings(params) params.each_pair do |k,v| set k.to_sym, v end if exists? :domain role :app, domain role :web, domain role :db, domain, :primary => true end end Then my staging.rb file is just set_settings(YAML.load_file("config/deploy.yml")['staging'])

To inject different implementation of a repository, I want to have a switch in app.config which changes all real implementation of a repository to a mock repositories. Lets say IRepository has two implementations RealRepository and MockRepository ForRequestedType() .TheDefaultIsConcreteType(); I want to have a switch in app.config / web.config say (Mock=1), which changes all real repositories implementation to ForRequestedType() .TheDefaultIsConcreteType(); I don't want to write whole plugin definition in app.config, just want one switch, how do I implement this?

• php script dies when it calls a bash script, maybe a problem of server configuration

  Hi!!! I have some problems with a PHP script that calls a Bash script.... in the PHP script is uploaded a XML file, then the PHP script calls a Bash script that cut the file in portions (for example, is uploaded a XML file of 30,000 lines, so the Bash script cut the file in portions of 10,000 lines, so it will be 3 files of 10,000 each one) The file is uploaded, the Bash script cut the lines, but when the Bash script returns to the PHP script, the PHP script dies, & I dont know why... I tested the script in another server and it works fine... I dont believe that is a memory problem, maybe it is a processor problem, I dont know, I dont know what to do, what can I do??? (Im using the function shell_exec in PHP to call the Bash script) The error only happens if the XML file has more than 8,000 lines, but if the file has less then 8,000 everything is ok (this is relative, it depends of the amount of data, of strings, of letters that contains each line) what can you suggest me???   Hi, I have been tasked with setting up TFS 2010 for my company. After setting up TFS and configuring the basics (New collection, project, adding solution to souce control), i thought i would try out some unit testing with it. I configured the Build Controller and Agent for my solution and added in some basic unit tests. These ran ok and did exactly what i would expect (i broke the build then ran the Build Definition, and it showed me where the errors were). My question is, what advantages (apart from the "Black box call stack logger") does Test Manager have over the TFS builds? Is it worth the extra effort of setting that up and configuring it? Only knowing the basics of what Test Manager is, that may be a very naive question to ask, and i appoligise if it is. Thanks

• How do I upgrade my MacPorts Perl installation?

  I have installed MacPorts in my MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard. I hadn't explicitly installed perl there but I guess it either came installed with the default macports install or was installed as a dependency by any other port I installed. I want to upgrade the Perl v5.8.9 there with the latest stable Perl version. Whichever it may be currently (I see it is 5.12.2). So, my question is simply how do I do a complete replacement of the old Perl with the new in macports. Will sudo port upgrade perl5 work or do I need to do something else as well. I just wanted to make sure this was the right command so as to avoid screwing up my macports install.

  I've installed the newest Android SDK using eclipse's software updates feature to hit the resource at https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/. After installing it, it seems like the SDK is integrated into Eclipse, but when I try to create a new project with a single blank activity in it, I get the following error: [2009-06-06 11:41:24 - TestProject] no classfiles specified [2009-06-06 11:41:24 - TestProject] Conversion to Dalvik format failed with error 1 This is using eclipse version 3.4.2 running on top of Mac OS 10.5.7 on a 32 bit processor.   I installed LAMP on Ubuntu 10.04. Now whenever I try to access http://localhost/ I get this message: Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. Apache/2.2.14 (Ubuntu) Server at localhost Port 80 I tried changing the permissions of the var/www/ folder by clicking ALT-f2, typing in "gksu nautilus" and right clicking the folder and changing the permissions but I still get a 403 forbidden error. Any idea what's going on?

• On Ubuntu, how do you install a newer version of python and keep the older python version?

  Background: I am using Ubuntu The newer python version is not in the apt-get repository (or synaptic) I plan on keeping the old version as the default python when you call "python" from the command line I plan on calling the new python using pythonX.X (X.X is the new version). Given the background, how do you install a newer version of python and keep the older python version? I have downloaded from python.org the "install from source" *.tgz package. The readme is pretty simple and says "execute three commands: ./configure; make; make test; sudo make install;" If I do the above commands, will the installation overwrite the old version of python I have (I definitely need the old version)?

  Am having a bit of a problem making my django application run in SUSE linux 9. I have Python2.5 installed well, Django 1.0 installed well. Am able to execute django command django-admin startproject fine But when i run the runserver command i get the error below. i have a folder with sqlite3, i can go in there and actually run the sqlite3* application, now am wondering where does Django look for the sqlite libraries? and how can i fix this? • .NET 2.0 Process Elevation for App Installation

  We have an application written in both C++ and .NET that installs for all users in the Program Files folder. This application downloads new versions of itself (as MSI installers) and spawns the new installer process to replace itself. The install process as it exists today: Copy an install manager app (C#, .NET 2.0) to the temp directory. Call this 'Manager' Manager is executed with elevated privs per this article. The original application exits. Manager spawns the MSI installer (with elevated privs, since the copy is elevated) Manager spawns the new version of the app. The bug: The newly installed app is running in an elevated state. This causes problems I won't enumerate here. Ideally, the launch of the newly installed app would be run with the permissions of the original user. I can't figure out how to demote the app back to being the standard user after elevation. An inelegant hack: (yeah, yeah, this whole process is inelegant anyway) Copy the install manager to the temp directory Run the install manager with standard user privs. Lets call this instance 'LowlyManager'. Original application exits. LowlyManager spawns the app again, this time with elevated privs. Let's name this instance 'UpperManagement' UpperManagement spawns the installer UpperManagement exits gracefully, returning the exit code of the installer. LowlyManager interprets the error code from UpperManagement, and spawns the newly installed application. This time as the original invoker. Is there a better way to do this? (I've left out a bunch of other details before and after these steps that make the process smoother for the user, but this should be enough to understand the core of the problem I'm trying to solve.) Other requirements: We can't install as a per-user app The user shouldn't be presented with an authentication dialog box if UAC would have simply asked "are you sure you want to allow this?". I think this might kill a solution using WindowsImpersonationContext, but I'm not sure. The system needs to work on XP, Vista, and Windows 7 (even if there is a separate process for XP).

  Hi i am new to php, I currently learning php using eclipse. • TWiki & Cygwin configuration

  I'm trying to configure the cygwin to work with TWiki, I have to input this in the Cygwin bash shell: mount -b -s c:/... but it doesn't recognize the "-s", I already fixed the problem with -b, it changed the syntax and now is "mount -o binary" for the "mount -b"part. But now it says unknown option with the "-s" anyone?? help?? or what does the -s mean, so I can look it up :S
