• Creating a file server - How can I use a large VHD file in Hyper-V? (700GB)

  Hey everyone, After a few discussions (here, here, and here), I am still unable to create a simple VM that will be used as a fileserver hosted on my Hyper-V box. I have created a fixed 700GB SCSI drive (.vhd file), as I have learned an IDE drive of this size is not possible. Not to sound too cynical, but its blown me away at how much trouble its been to create a large amount of space and start using it. What is the best way to create a fileserver with a drive of this size hosted on Hyper-V Server 2008, and how can I get it going??? Inclusion of OS, driver, integration tools etc, anything you feel is required would be greatly appreciated. Extra information I am using the stand-alone version of Hyper-V server, and not Windows Server 2008. I have tried loading the Linux Integration Tools (linked in the comments of the last link above) onto a SUSE 11 VM and the installation fails, the machine cannot see the vhd at all. Eg: When user first visit www.testing.com/productdetailpage.asp I will use caching- store the whole page into productdetailpage.html When the user go to reopen productdetailpage.asp, user will be redirected to www.testing.com/productdetailpage.html It means they will see productdetailpage.html, not .asp Is this a good way? Any implication in terms of SEO and other part? Will it be better to read datas from .html into .asp and show the final page as .asp all the time?

But this way, I am repating the same code in two places and if anything is to be changed later on in the code, I have to do it in both places, which is time consuming and error prone. Thanks.   I've used %time% for timing previously - at least I think I have. I have this weird IF NOT "%1" == "" ( echo Testing: %1 echo Start: %time% sqlcmd -S MYSERVER -i test_import_%1.sql -o "test_%1%.log" sleep 3 echo End: %time% ) I run this, and it prints: Testing: pm Start: 13:29:45.30 End: 13:29:45.30 In this case, my sql code is failing (different reason), but I figure the sleep 3 should make the time increment by 3 at least. Any ideas? tx, tff

  I'm developing an iPad application that will have integration with IBM Cognos in the near future. As part of that integration I have a very special requirement: It should be possible to open my application from Cognos Mobile app (the native app). Common sense tells me it's not possible to do that, since Cognos Mobile is a closed application, but it wouldn't hut to ask anyway. Is it possible to do that? What about the other way around? iOS uses URL Schemas to open apps from other apps, but as far as I know Cognos Mobile doesn't register any Url Schema to interact with it. Thank you!

  I created a Windows Server 2008 R2 foundation VM on Windows Server 2008 using Hyper-V. But I am not able to connect to internet from the VM. If I goto device manager, the network adapter branch itself is missing. I searched in google and few sites suggested I need to install the Integration Services although in one site they said Server 2008 R2 comes with integration services installed. Anyways I tried to install IntegrationServices using hyper-v but I get error dialog "error: unable to launch one of the update programs". Any suggestions on what am I supposed to do?

  I am currently interested in switching from vim to emacs. One of the more compelling reasons for this is the smooth integration with a unix environment. The most experienced emacs users I have seen have a bash prompt at the bottom of their window, with stdout going to a buffer right above it. They then interact with the output of programs such as grep in interesting ways. I am on Ubuntu 10.04 and the default emacs environment does not seem to do much for me in the way of integration. For example, in the M-x shell mode, output from basic commands like ls produce lots of strange characters and hitting the up arrow does not go to previous commands. Any recommendations on a good direction to go in?

  this is a follow on from this question and the link given it seems that when an app is updated all of the files in the documents directory are copied into the updated apps documents directory and also anything in Library/Preferences. Whats the best way to simulate this for testing purposes? Just copy the files in ApplicationSupport/iPhone Simulator etc? or has anyone developped any funky techniques for testing this.
