• odd problem with jni interacting with dll's - not sure why a change to gc ergonomics fixes it

  We were having a problem with our Tomcat jvm blowing up and giving us an hs_* dump at random times but always in the same spot, that wasn't very informative other than saying we had an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION Commenting out various parts of the java that called particular jni functions just made it blow consistently in another spot. By changing our jvm options from: set PAF_OPTS=-Xms1024m -Xmx32000m -server -XX:+UseParallelGC -XX:+UseParallelOldGC -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+UseCompressedOops -Djava.library.path="%CATALINA_HOME%"\jni -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote TO set PAF_OPTS=-Xms1024m -Xmx32000m -server -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+UseCompressedOops -Djava.library.path="%CATALINA_HOME%"\jni -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote The problem went away. The solution does not give me a warm and fuzzy however and am wondering anyone might understand what's going on under the covers here. Environment: jdk1.6, 64 bit OS and Java, Tomcat, Windows

• WPF - Virtualizing an ItemsControl?

  I have an ItemsControl containing a list of data that I would like to virtualize, however VirtualizingStackPanel.IsVirtualizing="True" does not seem to work with an ItemsControl. Is this really the case or is there another way of doing this that I am not aware of? To test I have been using the following block of code: <ItemsControl VirtualizingStackPanel.IsVirtualizing="True" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=AccountViews.Tables[0]}"> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBlock Initialized="TextBlock_Initialized" Margin="5,50,5,50" Text="{Binding Path=Name}" /> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> If I change the ItemsControl to a ListBox, I can see that the Initialized function only runs a handful of times (the huge margins are just so I only have to go through a few records), however as an ItemsControl every item gets initialized. I have tried setting the ItemsControlPanelTemplate to a VirtualizingStackPanel but that doesn't seem to help.

  I try to install GlassFish on my ubuntu, and gets the error: Could not locate a suitable jar utility. Please ensure that you have Java 6 or newer installed on your system and accessible in your PATH or by setting JAVA_HOME when I type: echo $PATH it prints out: /usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games:/opt/jdk1.6.0_20:/opt/jdk1.6.0_20/bin Can anybody explain me where is the problem and how to solve it? i have also read this topic, but it doesn't work. N.B. Before to reinstall Ubuntu it works fine. This problem comes after reinstallation.

• Running Command via Java ProccesBuilder Different to Running the same in the Shell

  I'm tearing my hair out trying to work out why the command I'm executing via Java using a ProcessBuilder & Process is not working. I run the "same" command at the Windows command line and it works as expected. It must be that they're not the same but I can't for the life of me work out why. The command is this: ccm start -nogui -m -q -n ccm_admin -r developer -d /path/to/db/databasename -s http://hostname:8400 -pw Passw0rd789$ The output is should be a single line string that I need to grab and set as an environment variable (hence the v. basic use of the BufferedReader). • Distance by sea calculator, intermediate coordinates?

  How do I calculate distance between 2 coordinates by sea? I also want to be able to draw a route between the two coordinates. Only solution I found so far is to split a map into pixels, identify each pixel as LAND or SEA and then try to find the path using A* algorithm. Then transform pixels to relative coordinates. There are some software packages I could buy but none have online extensions. A service that calculates distances between sea ports and plots the path on a map is searates.com

Within scripts/sessions.php i have a function to save whatever the $_POST information is to a file, and the sessions.php never saves this saveFormValues call. It never shows up to the file. But if i keep trying to get it to save, about once every 15 will actually allow it to be saved. This leads me to believe that the forms POST is somehow blocking this value saving post. Any help?

  I am using VBScript to copy files using xcopy. The problem is that the folder path has to be entered by the user. Assuming I put that path in a variable, say h, how do I use this variable in the xcopy command?   Hello all, I am trying to connect to a SVN server in order to import my project into it with svn+ssh authentication method. I am using the NetBeans IDE (6.8) with subversion plugin installed on Windows XP SP2. I have plink installed with its path set in the Windows PATH env variable. When I use the similar looking repository URL (XXXX and YYYY replaced with sensible things) svn+ssh://XXXX@YYYY/home/dce/svn/trunk along with this external tunnel command plink -l <myUserName> -i C:\\privateKey.ppk I keep getting this error: org.tigris.subversion.javahl.ClientException: Network connection closed unexpectedly I searched about it on the Internet and tried many things but didn't work out. Please help if anybody has some idea what may be going wrong. Thanks a lot in advance.

• Java type for date/time when using Oracle Date with Hibernate

  We have a Oracle Date column. At first in our Java/Hibernate class we were using java.sql.Date. This worked but it didn't seem to store any time information in the database when we save so I changed the Java data type to Timestamp. • Writing to a new line of a file in Objective-C

  For some strange reason, the \n and \r escape sequences do not seem to be working in my code. I want to write each NSString on a new line of the file, but it just appends it the last string on one line. Here's the code: for (Entry *entry in self.entries) { NSString *path = @"/Users/me/File.txt"; NSString *string = (@"%@\r\n", [entry thisEntry]); NSFileHandle *fh = [NSFileHandle fileHandleForWritingAtPath:path]; [fh seekToEndOfFile]; [fh writeData:[string dataUsingEncoding:NSUnicodeStringEncoding]]; [fh closeFile]; } Am I doing something wrong? • Visual Studio .dll Reference not found ?

  I had never had this error before, and I didn't move any file, or exclude any reference. I'm getting this error (link). In the ajaxcontroltoolkit.dll.refresh file, I get a path to the DLL, but it is a path that was located in someone else's computer (who no longer is in charge of this). It might as well work if I just re-do the reference, but what is weird is that I've used this reference before, and had no problems. I don't know what triggered it.. Does anyone have any clue ? --[UPDATE]-- As expected, I've fixed it, but this question remains unanswered. Besides, the exact same problem with a coworker..

  Hi all. I want to draw some curve in my scroll view using CGPathRef. I tried to draw this path but i see only the part of my CGPathRef which located at 320x480 pixels. Is it way to do that. Thank you in advance. • gnome-terminal. New tab opening

  I am launching the gnome-terminal and I am working in a specific path For example: /home/user/programs/c/. Now I am opening another tab. When I am opening the new tab it is also in the same path. i.e. the new tab's pwd will be /home/user/programs/c/ But what I want is when I am opening a new tab its pwd should be /home/user. How can I achieve this? Any help much appreciated. Thanks in Advance!
