• Parsing a string for dates in PHP

  Given an arbitrary string, for example ("I'm going to play croquet next Friday" or "Gadzooks, is it 17th June already?"), how would you go about extracting the dates from there? If this is looking like a good candidate for the too-hard basket, perhaps you could suggest an alternative. I want to be able to parse Twitter messages for dates. The tweets I'd be looking at would be ones which users are directing at this service, so they could be coached into using an easier format, however I'd like it to be as transparent as possible. Is there a good middle ground you could think of?

  Hi! A newbie question. Do languages like e.g. Ruby (if running MRI, I mean not compiled to byte-code) run actually parsed everytime when an execution of e.g. method or loop body is needed? I mean, to execute a loop, you need to parse its body N times? I just always thought that all these programs are being parsed one time at the bootstrap - transformed in a 'strongly-typed' statements tree etc.. Is that not true?

  I am not familiar with PHP at all and had a quick question. I have 2 variables @pricePerUnit and @invoicedUnits. Here's the code that is setting these to values: $InvoicedUnits = ((string) $InvoiceLineItem->InvoicedUnits); $pricePerUnit = ((string) $InvoiceLineItem->PricePerUnit); If I output this, I get the correct values. Lets say 5000 invoiced units and 1.00 for price. Now, I need to show the total amount spent. When I multiply these two together it doesn't work (as expected, these are strings). But I have no clue how to parse/cast/convert variables in PHP. What should I do?

  I'm trying to parse an HTML file and get all href's inside it. So far, the code I'm using is: (map #(println (str "Match: " %)) (re-find #"(?sm)href=\"([a-zA-Z.:/]+)\"" str_response)) str_response being the string with the HTML code inside it. According to my basic understanding of Clojure, that code should print a list of matches, but so far, no luck. It doens't crash, but it doens't match anything either. I've tried using re-seq instead of re-find, but with no luck. Any help? Thanks!

  I'm writing some code, and I need it to catch the arguments and pass them through fmt.Println (I want its default behaviour, to write arguments separated by spaces and followed by a newline). However it takes []interface {} but flag.Args() returns a []string.   I am looking for a cron expression library in java. Something that can parse cron expressions and return me future fire times for the trigger. API on the lines of. CronExpression cronExpression = new CronExpression("0 30 4 * * *"); List<Date> fireTimes = cronExpression.getFireTimes(todaysDate, nextWeekDate); I don't want to use something as complicated as quartz. The purpose is to basically use cron like a regex for timings. That's all. I do not want a background scheduler. I tried googling but wasn't able to find anything very helpful. • IIS: 404 error on every file in a virtual directory.

  I am trying to write my first WCF service for IIS 6.0. I followed the instructions on MSDN. I created the virtual directory, I can browse the directory fine but anything I click (even a sub-folder in that folder) gives me a 404 error. What am I missing that I can not access any files or folders? Any logs or whatnot you need just tell me where to find them in the comments and I will post them. • PHP suddenly failed after IIS update

  All my application pools were stopped this morning after I got to work. I can restart them, but when I try to load the website the app pool crashes again. Update: I've looked in the GAC as the error below suggests and it seems that the file is not there. How do I get it back? Update 2: I found a further error in the event log saying The Module name FastCgiModule path C:\WINDOWS\System32\inetsrv\iisfcgi.dll returned an error from registration. The data is the error. So following the information from here http://forums.iis.net/t/1153937.aspx I removed CGI and my sites are working again. This has fixed the initial problem, but now I don't have FastCGI so I'm fairly sure that PHP will no longer be working (I don't have any PHP at the moment to test).   My goal is to implement APC for opcode cache for a drupal 6 production site. I have so far tested APC with several php files with and without including other php files with include_once. Also tried to tweak the apc.ini values for shm_size, apc.include_once_override and apc.stat. Restarted apache every time. Resulting in apc.php not showing any changes in any values. I tried to set (with chown and chgrp) apache as the owner of the apc.php file and some test php files resulting in 500 server error. Is there a way to check if the file permissions prevent the apc stay running? I'm tremendously grateful for any suggestions or help.

When I navigate to http://www.example.com/wp-login.php, this brings up the "Authentication Required" prompt (not the WordPress login page) for a username and password. However, when I input the correct credentials, it downloads the PHP source code (wp-login.php) instead of showing the WordPress login page. Permission for my htpasswd file is set to 644. • How do I get the latest FastCGI and PHP versions to peacefully coexist on IIS 6?

  I have been going round and round trying to get any sort of PHP running on IIS 6. I somehow managed to successfully get version 5.1.4 running using the php5isapi.dll file. However, I want to upgrade a website to begin using a Content Management System. I have never dug into CMS before so I'm open to programs that are easy to use. I am currently looking into TomatoCMS and ImpressCMS - but that's beside the point. I have never done an installation with PHP before and I think I'm getting familiar with how it works. However the current situation is this. Microsoft's Web Platform Installer 2.0 installed FastCGI for me. I need to upgrade to PHP 5.3.1 for a CMS system. So I downloaded the Windows installer and let it go at it. After consulting several other blog articles, I believe I know how it is supposed to work but I am currently not having luck. THE SETUP *.php is a registered extension in IIS 6 for all websites (on Win 2k3). The application that it calls is C:\Windows\system32\inetsvr\fcgiext.dll, like it should. The fcgiext.ini config has the proper lines: [Types] php=PHP [PHP] ext=C:\program files\PHP\php-cgi.exe And the php.ini file also has the correct configs. All extensions are disabled and I changed the correct things for FastCGI. And everything is registered correctly with the PATH variable. Everything is exactly how it should be. BUT when I launch the "info.php" page () on another computer, I get the following error: FastCGI Error The FastCGI Handler was unable to process the request. Error Details: * Section [PHP] not found in config file. * Error Number: 1413 (0x80070585). * Error Description: Invalid index. HTTP Error 500 - Server Error. Internet Information Services (IIS) A quick Google search reveals that I have it all setup correctly as far as the INI's go and the mapping of the php extension. I am completely at a loss. Does anyone have any suggestions? Although the server is hosting three small websites, I don't really care what I have to do to it to get it to work.

  I am in a LAN and have to use a proxy given to access the web in a very limited way. I can't even use google, github.com or SE sites. However I can use ssh to log into a server, which I have root access so basically I can do anything I want with it. So I was thinking that maybe I could use that server as a proxy so I can visit sites through it. I tested it using ssh -vT [email protected] which gave a proper response. And In my computer I can't do this. Also I tried downloading something from the gun.org using wget, which can't be done in my computer too. And it succeeded on that server. I don't know if that's enough to say that this server have full access to the Internet. But I assumed so and I installed squid3 on it. After trying some while, I failed to get it working. After configuring my computer, I got this error: Access control configuration prevents your request from being allowed at this time. Please contact your service provider if you feel this is incorrect. And the log in the server showed that my TCP requests had all been denied. So, first of all, is what I am trying to do achievable? If so, how to configure the squid in the server so that I use it as a proxy to surf the Internet? My computer and the server both run Ubuntu11.04. Thanks for any help~

• nginx, php-fpm, and multiple roots - how to properly try_files?

  I have a server context which is rooted in a login application. The login application handles, well, logins, and then returns a redirect to "/app" on the same server if a login is successful. The application is rooted elsewhere, which is handled by the location block shown here: location ^~ /app { alias /usr/share/nginx/www/website.com/content/public; location ~ \.php$ { try_files $uri =404; fastcgi_pass unix:/tmp/php5-fpm.sock; include fastcgi_params; } } This works just fine, however the $uri getting passed to PHP still contains /app, even though I am using alias rather than root. Because of this, the try_files directive fails to a 404 unless I link app -> ./ in /usr/share/nginx/www/website.com/content/public. It's obviously silly to have that link in there, and if that link ever gets lost, bam dead website without an obvious cause. The next thing I tried... Was to remove the try_files directive entirely. This allowed me to rm the app link in my /public folder, and PHP had no problem locating the file and executing it. I used that to dump my $_SERVER global from PHP, and found that "SCRIPT_FILENAME" => "/usr/share/nginx/www/website.com/content/public/index.php" when the browser URI is /app. This is exactly right. Based on my fastcgi_params below, this led me to beleive that try_files $request_filename =404; should work, but no dice. nginx still doesn't find the file, and returns 404. So for right now, it will only work without any try_files directive. PHP finds the file, whereas try_files could not. I understand this may be a PHP security risk. Can anyone indicate how to move forward? • How to stop a random ramp in FCGI Processes Killing the server

  So got the below earlier to day... Around that time the logs show a ramp in processes(600) and associated memory (1.2g), cpu usage load average (80) untill the server gave out. Server had to be hard reset by host as there was no ssh or plesk panel access. Fast CGI is configured as below and is setup for one high use site. As I understand it FcgidMaxProcesses 20 should protect against what happen but has not. I've read many forums with differing answers and references to many different fcgi directives, but have found nothing conclusive. Any one got some definitive answers on how to stop this sort of server process ramping and subsequent server failure? If you need more info let me know.
