  • How to make a table, which is wider than screen size, scrollable and keep header row fixed?

    I've a table with 2 columns and each column is 800px wide. I want to show this table in 800x50 window. So there should be horizontal and vertical scrollbar to view complete table. While I've found few related solutions (this and this) on SO, they only work if table width is smaller than screen size. In my case screen size is 1200px and total table width is 1600px. How could I do this? i want to achieve something like this. EDIT Oops, I forgot to add one more requirement. Sorry. I want the header of the table to remain fixed while user scrolls table. EDIT2 I've tried below mentioned solutions to wrap in a div, but in this case vertical scrollbar doesn't show up. Please see this table with wrapper div. It seems this problem only occurs if table width is bigger than screen size. I'm testing on FF3.6.   • overflow-y hides page contents in a webkit browsers (Chrome and Safari)

    Hi, I am currently making our website to be supported by all major browsers and I've met a very strange problem - oveflow-y attribute caused my data to be hidden. Below I've got an oversimplified code sample that works in IE and Firfox, but which doesn't work in Safari and Chrome.     Hey guys, I've created a dummy layout for my latest design, but when I resize the window in ie7 to check that the min-width works, it kicks the content area to below the sidebar, whereas in all other browsers (including ie6) it behaves exactly as it should do.     I want a widget that allows users to add a request if that request hasnt already been added, or vote for a request if it has already been added. when a user adds a request, i want it to immediately appear as the first element of the list, like what would happen to your timeline if you made new tweet. ive tried to look for a jquery plugin that offers this functionality, but i was unsuccessful (maybe i couldnt think of the right terms to search for??). i dont have enough faith in my js skills to write this from scratch, so id rather find a template to start with.   • Cut off text before read more

    I have texts that most of the time fit in a div, but sometimes it doesn't fit. There is no way to determine how many characters/words/paragraphs fit in the div, so I can't cut it off that way. The div had a fixed height and width, so can we do something with that? Or do you have any suggestion how to get everything in the div, the correct way?

  • Three vertically stacked DIVs with scrolling middle

    Is it possible to stack three DIVs vertically and have just the middle div scroll vertically? I don't want to use pixel heights, though, because the DIVs are inside of a dialog box that is resizeable. Something like this (pardon my lousy ASCII art): +-----------+ | Header | +-----------+ | ^| | || | Scroll || | || | v| +-----------+ | Footer | +-----------+ The goal is to have the header and and footer fixed and, as the dialog grows, the middle div would grow vertically. Maybe I'm just being stupid, but I've been fighting this for the last few hours and can't seem to get it right. The three DIVs probably need to be inside "another" DIV but when I do that, and set the height to 100%, it grows as the middle DIV grows. Again, it's probably something silly I'm not accounting for. I've also tried using a TABLE to no avail. Thanks for any help.

    Bikram Website If you view this page in the latest version of chrome you will notice when you click on an instructors name the scroll bar is black when fading in. It is not a webkit issue as safari is fine. Anybody know why chrome does it?

  • jQuery: How can I animate to a taller height with the height being added to the top of the element?

    Hi, I have a simple problem but I am not sure how to solve it. Basically I have some hidden content that, once expanded, requires a height of 99px. While collapsed the element holding it section#newsletter is set to be 65px in height. LIVE EXAMPLE: http://dev.supply.net.nz/asap-finance-static/ On the click of a#signup_form the section#newsletter is expanded to 99px using the following jQuery: $('#newsletter_form').hide(); // hide the initial form fields $('#form_signup').click(function(event) { event.preventDefault(); // stop click // animate $('section#newsletter').animate({height: 99}, 400, function() { $('#newsletter_form').show(300); }) }); All this works great except for the fact that this element sits in a sticky footer so its initial height is used to position it. Animating the height of this element causes scrollbars on the browser, because the 34px added are added to the bottom of the element, so my question: How can I add these 34px to the top of the element so the height expands upwards into the body not downwards?     Hey, in my quest to create as image light a site as possible, I'm looking to create two tone hr's. I've achieved this in modern browsers, but want to achieve the same effect in ie6 and 7. The current code I am using is hr { border-bottom:1px solid #FFFFFF; border-top:1px solid #dcdcdc; clear:both; height:0; border-left:0px; border-right:0px; } I've tried, with no success to make this work in ie6 and 7 without having to target the browsers specifically.   • How can Safari be prevented from scrolling an overflow:hidden iframe?

    With Safari you can disable most iframe scrolling by setting style="overflow: hidden;" on the iframe. However, if you click in the iframe and move the mouse the content scrolls anyhow. Example: <html> <body> <iframe style="width: 100%; height:100px; overflow: hidden;" scrolling="no" src="scrollcontent.html"> </iframe> </body> </html> scrollcontent.html: <html scroll="no" style="overflow:hidden;"> <body scroll="no" style="overflow:hidden;"> <div style="background-color: green; height:100px;">A</div> <div style="background-color: red; height:100px;">B</div> </body> </html> In this example, the iframe should only show a green area and it should be impossible to reveal the red area. This is mostly true: there is no scrollbar, the mouse wheel doesn't do anything and neither do the arrow keys. However click and drag still scrolls the view. This is particularly noticeable when selecting text. Does anyone know any trick to stop Safari from doing this?

    Hi All, I have a login button at the footer of my main page or landing page.Currently when user click on the button a login form will get open from TOP to BOTTOM i.e. from the start of form to the "LOGIN" button.What i want is that when i click on the login button it should open the form using slide effect but from the BUTTON to the TOP.I don't want to include library like jQuery as there are some conflict issue with it.
