• Having an issue with Onejar-Maven-Plugin

  I am trying to package a simple maven java project (uses javax.persistence api) into a single jar using the onejar-maven-plugin. I can run the program fine in eclipse; however when execute the onejar I get the exception below. If someone could provide some insight, that would be appreciated. • connecting clients to server with emulator on different computers

  I am writing an application that communicates using sockets. I have a server running on one android emulator on a computer, then i have 2 other clients running on android emulators on 2 other computers. I am trying to get the 2 clients to connect to the server. This works when i run the server and clients on the same computer, but when i attempt to do this on the same wifi network and on separate computers it gives me the following error. The client and server code is posted below. A lot is stripped out just to show the important stuff. Also, after the server starts i telnet into the server and run these commands redir add tcp:5000:6000 (i have also tried without doing the redir but it still says the same thing). Then i start the clients and get the error. Thanks for the help! Both the 5000 port and 6000 port are open on my router.   Hello, everyone! The Character class in Java defines methods which check a given char argument for equality with certain Unicode chars or for belonging to some type category. These chars and type categories are named. As stated in given javadoc, examples for named chars are HORIZONTAL TABULATION, FORM FEED, ...; example for named type categories are SPACE_SEPARATOR, PARAGRAPH_SEPARATOR, ... However, being byte or int values instead of enums, the name of these types are "hidden" at runtime. So, is there a possibility to get characters' and/or type categories' names at runtime?

• Polygonal Triangulation - algorithm with O(n log n) complexity

  I wish to triangulate a polygon I only have the outline of (p0, p1, p2 ... pn) like described in this question: polygon triangulation algorithm and this webpage: http://cgm.cs.mcgill.ca/~godfried/teaching/cg-projects/97/Ian/algorithm2.html I do not wish to learn the subject and have a deep understanding of it at the moment. I only want to see an effective algorithm that can be used out of the box. The one described in the site seems to be of somewhat high complexity O(n) for finding one ear. I heard this could be done in O(n log n) time. Is there any well known easy to use algorithm that I can translate port to use in my engine that runs with somewhat reasonable complexity? The reason I need to triangulate is that I wish to feel out a 2d-outline and render it 3d. Much like we fill out a 2d-outline in paint. I could use sprites. This would not serve cause I am planning to play with the resulting model on the z-axis, giving it different heights in the different areas. I would love to try the books that were mentioned, although I suspect that is not the answer most readers are hoping for when they read this Q & A format. Mostly I like to see a code snippet I can cut and paste with some modifications and start running.

• Apache (XAMPP 1.8.0) access.log/Intrusion Detection Concern

  [I originally posted on SO but it earned me a Tumbleweed badge. This looks like a better venue for the question.] I have Apache (XAMPP 1.8.0) running on Vista Pro x64. A couple times now I have seen a pattern like the example below in access.log. Concerning is the "attack" seems to somehow shift from a public IP to a valid private IP on my network (happens to be the WAN address of one of my routers). Two questions: How is this possible, and what happens if the "attacker" stumbles on a valid request? • Unable to access the server via SSH?

  when I am trying to access the server through ssh it says: ssh: connect to host xx.yyy.zzz.x port 22: Connection refused and on the server in auth.log it shows following log entry: Address xx.yyy.zzz.x maps to xx.yyy.zzz.x.static-pune-vsnl.net.in, but this does not map back to the address - POSSIBLE BREAK-IN ATTEMPT! I have created a user account for that user and it is also in enabled status.   In a new interview up on otn/java, titled “Java Champion Dick Wall on the Virtues of Scala (Part 2),” Dick Wall explains why, after a long career in programming exploring Lisp, C, C++, Python, and Java, he has finally settled on Scala as his language of choice. From the interview: “I was always on the lookout for a language that would give me both Python-like productivity and simplicity for just writing something and quickly having it work and that also offers strong performance, toolability, and type safety (all of which I like in Java). Scala is simply the first language that offers all those features in a package that suits me. Programming in Scala feels like programming in Python (if you can think it, you can do it), but with the benefit of having a compiler looking over your shoulder and telling you that you have the wrong type here or the wrong method name there.The final ‘aha!’ moment came about a year and a half ago. I had a quick task to complete, and I started writing it in Python (as I have for many years) but then realized that I could probably write it just as fast in Scala.   I was at school SSHing to my homebox. All of a sudden, my connection was closed. Attempting to reconnect failed. When I returned home, I discovered that my computer was off. Nobody was at my house and I am sure that I did not have a power outage. How can I figure out how or why my computer shut off? Is there some log in /var/log that could point me in the right direction? Should there be a core dump somewhere that I should find? If so, how do I use core dumps?

• MySQL can only log in as root, even after creating new users with their own database

  Problem: I just set up a Debian Wheezy installation for testing, and installed the LAMP packages and PMA. I can log in as root with my pre-defined password, create/edit/delete both databases and users. The problem comes when I create a new user 'something', set a password for it, and grant it all privileges on a table 'something' (same as the username). Upon connecting, it denies access to the user. Details: Host: localhost using MySQL 5.5.24-8 Creating user: CREATE USER 'something'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY '***';GRANT USAGE ON *.* TO 'something'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY '***' WITH MAX_QUERIES_PER_HOUR 0 MAX_CONNECTIONS_PER_HOUR 0 MAX_UPDATES_PER_HOUR 0 MAX_USER_CONNECTIONS 0;CREATE DATABASE IF NOT EXISTSsomething;GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ONsomething.* TO 'something'@'%'; Checking privileges: GRANT USAGE ON *.* TO 'something'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY PASSWORD '*92F9DAF5F5129554509489FDB6A433510223C799'; Result: Access denied for user 'something'@'localhost' (using password: YES) More Info: I use this same exact procedure for the Squeeze distribution, and it works perfectly. Is there a chance it's because of Wheezy, or something else? I need to continue using Wheezy because of the updated packages (for this test server -- the others work fine), so 'just use Squeeze' is not an option. Note: I HAVE tried flush privileges; to no avail.

Someone wanted to hack my account, so I changed password to a pretty complicated one, which I could not remember..(I know:)) I needed to prove my identity by typing in 3 codes that were sent to 3 friends on fb. I did it. Fb told me to come back in one day. I did so. But this is the message I keep getting: "We're sorry. The email you used to start the account recovery process is already in use. Please restart the process with a new email address.". I really do not want to log back in again with a new subscribtion. • java 7 upgrade and hibernate annotation processor error

  I am getting the following warning, which seems to be triggering a subsequent warning and an error. I have been googling like mad, though have not found anything that makes it clear what it is I should do to resolve this. This issue occurs when I execute an Ant build. I am trying to migrate our project to Java 7. I have changed all the source='1.6' and target="1.6" to 1.7. I did find this related article: Forward compatible Java 6 annotation processor and SupportedSourceVersion It seems to indicate that I should build the Hibernate annotation processor jar myself, compiling it with with 1.7. It does not seem I should be required to do so. The latest version of the class in question (in hibernate-validator-annotation-processor-5.0.1.Final.jar) has been compiled with 1.6. Since the code in said class refers to SourceVersion.latestSupported(), and the 1.6 of that returns only RELEASE_6, there does not seem to be a generally available solution.
