Ubuntu 10.04 Keyboard and Mouse Freezing Problem

I had a partition setup with Windows XP and Ubuntu 8.04 dual booting. I recently upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 by installing fresh from CD but leaving the previous /home folder as is. Things seemed to be working fine, but started finding that my mouse and keyboard were freezing. After a quick search on the internet, I found the following suggestions as shown here:- Ubuntu Forums Here the suggestion was to:- Edit /etc/default/grub, go to the line that begins like: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT= Change it to: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi=off" After that, run this command: sudo update-grub and Reboot This seemed to have resolved the issue but after a couple of days I again find my mouse and keyboard freezing. I also find that my parallel port printer had also stopped working. I have saved the output of dmesg and my syslog. The first can be viewed here but the syslog had too many characters, so if someone can suggest an alternative to freetexthost, I can post it there. Moreover, if there is any other information that should be provided, do let me know. I do hope we can get to the bottom of this issue. Thank you in advance for any help that could be provided.

WPF: Focus in a Window and UserControl

I'm trying to get a UserControl to tab properly and am baffled. The logical tree looks like this. |-Window -Grid -TabControl -TabItem -StackPanel -MyUserControl |-StackPanel -GroupBox -Grid -ComboBox -Textbox1 -Textbox2 Everything works fine, except when the visibility converter for the ComboBox returns Visibility.Collapsed (don't allow user to change database mode), then when textbox1 is selected, instead of being able to tab through the controls in the UserControl, the focus shifts to a button declared at the bottom of the window. Nothing else apart from the controls displayed has TabIndex or FocusManager properties set. I'm banging my head against a brick wall and I must be missing something. KVM machine does not start ssh, network is started, used to work

have been searching an pulling my hear out for the last 6 hours. I have a virtual machine that has been running fine for the last six months. I was happy ssh'ing into it and it was running a database and some small apps. Tonight ssh stopped working, so I decided to reboot the machine. I now have the following situation: virsh list --all states machine as running I can ping the machine and get a reply When I ssh to the machine I see "ssh: connect to host [myserver] port 22: Connection refused" nmap does not show port 22 as open I have tried to: - reboot the machine once more (no luck) - mount the filesystem and check /etc/ssh/sshd.conf (has not changed since working situation) - install virsh console, however this does not seem to work When I mount the fs directly using losetup the strange thing is that file dates seem to be frozen in /var/log/ around the time of the crash. If I look in /var/run/ I can see an sshd.pid, but the time is 6 hours ago (and numerous reboots). Working with barcode fonts in Word

I need to create labels in Microsoft Word 2010 with numbers encoded as barcodes. The barcode's format (ean, code39, upc, etc) does not matter. I have downloaded a barcode conversion font that I found at this site. When I type the number that I want and then I format it with my new font, it produces a barcode. I then print it on an OKI laser printer (1200 dpi). The result seems to be fine, at least for common people. But, when I try to scan it, nothing happens. I tried both with a barcode scanner and a data collector, but neither of them read the barcode. My barcode scanner is working fine, because I can read commercial barcodes printed on products. Does anybody have any advice? How do I do this kind of stuff? I want to do it using Word because I will generate labels using Mail Merge. Therefore using external programs aren't option for me.

I tried making some Munin Aggregated graphs but somehow I am unable to make the configuration work. I think I have followed the instructions but since its not working, I would love some assistance or guidance as to what I am doing wrong. How can I set Vim to obey accents of my spoken language?

When pressing w or e in sentences with accents (written in my native language), such as the first one (marked **) here: **Éj-mélybol fölzengo** - csing-ling-ling - száncsengo. Száncsengo - csing-ling-ling - tél csendjén halkan ring. [1] the characters o, ö, among others [2], make my gVim think they are word-ends so it stops on them (in Normal mode). gVim stops on the positions marked with _ where it shouldn't: Éj-mélyb_ol f_ölzeng_o. I would like to set gVim so it properly handle words even when containing accents and other local characters. But where do I set this? I use it on Win32, vim v 7.3.46. [1] - excerpt of a poem by Weöres Sándor [2] - "others", not mentioned here :) like í, u are also a problem. check_snmp with snmpv3 protocol giving "Unkown Report message" error

I'm trying to add a nagios command to use snmpv3 for monitoring printer status messages. When using the check_snmp command, I get the following error: External command error: snmpget: Unknown Report message Here is the command I'm typing in: ./check_snmp -P 3 -H <hostname> -L authPriv -U snmpuser -A snmppassword -X snmppassword -o 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.4.3.1.2.0 -C public -d "STRING:" -a MD5 These values for auth key, private key, username, etc all work when using snmpwalk. Can someone enlighten me as to what that error message really means? EDIT: It looks like check_snmp isn't taking my v3 credentials when passing over to snmpget. Here is my input with the verbose option: ./check_snmp -H <hostname> -o 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.1 -C public -m ALL -P 3 -L authPriv -U snmpuser -a MD5 -A snmppassword -x DES -X snmppassword -v And here is the output: /usr/bin/snmpget -t 1 -r 5 -m ALL -v 3 [authpriv] <hostname>:161 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.1 External command error: snmpget: Unknown Report message So I guess now my question would be: why isn't check_snmp passing all the commandline options to snmpget?

Creating a Comment Anchor

Hello, The function below allows a user to insert a comment into a MySQL table called "comment." Then, the file "comments2.php" displays all comments for a given submission. Right after a user submits a comment, I would like the top of the user's browser to be anchored by the comment the user just submitted. How can I do this? exim4 to relay emails

I have exim4 installed on a Linux box. The basics work fine and I can send email from that machine without any problem to whatever email address. I also have a printer/scanner which is capable to send scans as emails. It needs an SMTP gateway to be able to do that. So I give the IP address of that Linux box, changed the configuration a little bit but still cannot get it to work. After I run dpkg-reconfigure exim4-config, here is what I get in /etc/exim4/update-exim4.conf.conf : dc_eximconfig_configtype='internet' dc_other_hostnames='' dc_local_interfaces='127.0.0.1;192.168.2.2' dc_readhost='' dc_relay_domains='mycompanyemail.com' dc_minimaldns='false' dc_relay_nets='192.168.2.0/24' dc_smarthost='' CFILEMODE='644' dc_use_split_config='false' dc_hide_mailname='' dc_mailname_in_oh='true' dc_localdelivery='mail_spool' My problem is that with this configuration, I can only send to emails @mycompanyemail.com... It says I can use wildcard, but when I do that, the '*' is replaced by whatever filename is in the directory where I run all that. How can I configure it to be able to send emails with any domain ? Or am I doing it wrong ? EDIT : here is the part of the log that's causing trouble : 2011-08-03 16:28:18 H=(NPI2D389C) [192.168.2.20] F=<[email protected]> rejected RCPT <[email protected]>: relay not permitted The first part ([email protected]) does not matter. I changed the email address. The point is that if this email is @mycompanyemail.com then everything works fine. Anything else does not work. I could add gmail.com, but I am looking to have any domain working...

Hello everyone, I am using a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.5. I am new to this development environment, and previously worked on Windows. I want to do very basic image editing, like cut a portion of an image, add some text label to the image, circle some part of the image, etc. I am downloading acornfree from this Url, but when executing acornfree, it said the Mac OS I am using is not supported. Shared IMAP Folders in GMail

Our office is using Google Apps for Domains for our email. Our customer support guys use IMAP clients (such as Thunderbird and Outlook) to check both their individual email addresses and a "collective" support email address. On the support account, there are several folders for organizing email threads by client. When a user gets a support-related email (either to the support email or their individual email address) they file away the email in one of thse shared folders. Many of us greatly prefer the Gmail interface (with Folders4Gmail enabled on the Better Gmail 2 add-on for Firefox, for label-to-folder support) over Thunderbird or Outlook. However, there is no way to "share" email threads, complete with labels, between accounts. The desired end result is that a user logs into their individual account and can see both their account and the support account and can pass emails (labels and all) between the two accounts - or at least from their individual account into the support account. Any ideas?

Eclipse will not show 2.3 emulator for android compatibility package code

cannot connect to vpn server (error 721)

I got 2 internet connections in my computer. One is using 3.5G HSDPA modem (vodafone huawei e220) and the other using mobile phone (cdma zte c261). Both are using different ISP and i have both. at the moment, i can connect to my office vpn using the HSDPA modem one. But when i tried to use cdma modem (dial up - mobile phone modem), i am just able to get "verifying username and password" and then after a few minutes it display error : Error 721 The Remote Computer didn't respond. I tried to ping into my office ip address, it got good result but still cannot connect to the vpn. I tried to turn off all my firewall (i'm using commodo) and has no response as well. In my cdma mobile phone modem Network connections I tried to allow iNternet connection sharing as well ... and turn on all Internet Protocol TCP/IP, File & Printer Sharing & Client for microsoft networks. But all of my effort has no effect. How to fix this problem ? note: my office using windows vpn as well. thank you .

How to make Exchange 2003 non-authoritive

Background We are a small company with an internally hosted Exchange 2003. It receives email for 2 domains (the company was renamed a few years back). For the sake of argument, the domains are: oldname.com newname.com We have moved newname.com to a hosted exchange service, and our DNS record is correctly routing emails. Our internal server still receives email for oldname.com, although we have asked our hosting company to accept emails for that domain. Problem My problem is that emails generated internally from monitoring software, printer, etc. are being caught by our (defunct) internal server and being delivered to the old mailboxes. I believe that what is happening is that our internal exchange server considers itself to be the authoritive server for newname.com. I think it must be looking in active directory for a mailbox and delivering it internally without ever going outside. Attempt to fix I started to follow the article here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321721. I removed the SMTP recipient policy for newname.com, and added a dummy address and made it primary. I also answered yes for updating the associated emails. I then restarted the Microsoft Exchange Routing System and SMTP, but emails are still being routed internally. Is there a way to force the exchange server to route all emails for the domain newname.com to the new hosted service?

EFI Partition Types

Another employee was working with a mounted VHD and was using diskpart on it and I'm not sure if he messed something up or not. I think it's fine but I wanted to double check. We have a Windows 2008 x64 machine that boots with EFI because of the large disks in the system. What should the different labels be within Disk Manager for this system? Here is what is currently set: 200 MB Partition - EFI System Partition C Partition - Boot, Page File, Crash Dump There should not be an active partition under EFI, correct? Also, is there supposed to be a "System" label in addition to "EFI System Partition"?

NFS-Root not working when booting over PXE

I am desperately trying to get a diskless client running over PXE-Boot using a NFS-Share as a root file system. I did this before some years ago but for some reason I am stucked at this since days. The TFTP-Server itself is running fine and booting a netinstaller works also fine. The kernel and initrd are loaded also but the bootprocess stops with this (screenshot) kernel panic. I'm using the squeeze standard i386-Kernel and I have prepared the initrd with this config: MODULES=most BUSYBOX=y KEYMAP=n COMPRESS=gzip BOOT=nfs DEVICE= NFSROOT=auto I also tried MODULES=netboot with the same outcome. My PXE-configuration looks like this: LABEL linux KERNEL diskless/debian-default/vmlinuz-2.6.32-5-686 APPEND root=/dev/nfs initrd=diskless/debian-default/vmlinuz-2.6.32-5-686 nfsroot=192.168.140.2:/storage/nfs-boot-images/default-squeeze ip=dhcp rw Furthermore I have captured the network communication of the client via tcpdump and learned that the client isn't even trying to connect to the NFS-share. Does anybody has got an idea what is going wrong here?

Win8/7/XP print spooler not getting along with Zebra ZT230 via WIFI

I have a graphics-intensive 4"x6" label I'm printing to the ZT230. I'm printing multiple (10) copies. When connected via USB, all goes well. However, when connected via wifi, I only get 2 of the labels. A wireshark capture shows that at some point in the process my computer (presumably my windows spooler) is sending a reset packet, which, I believe, would pretty much kill the print job. I'm getting the same results on Win8, Win7 and WinXP. The print job was originally generated on Zebra's ZebraDesigner2 software. For easier diagnosis, I captured it to a .prn file. How do I disable certain folders from appearing in my IMAP client when using Gmail?

I'm using the newest version of Gmail, as far as I know, and there used to be the option in Settings - Labels that said "Show in IMAP" next to label/folder names. This option is no longer there, unfortunately. How do I hide specific labels/folders, e.g. All Mail, from Thunderbird, my IMAP client? In both Firefox 17.0 and Chromium 20.0.1132.47 on Ubuntu 12.04, without an extensions, these options do not appear, so it doesn't appear to be a browser issue. In the past, I had to enable "Advanced IMAP Controls" in Settings - Labs for the "Show in IMAP" controls to appear, but according to this post, those controls "graduated" and should appear under Settings- Labels. What can I do to show or hide specific folders in IMAP?

How do I record video to a local disk in AIR?

I'm trying to record a webcam's video and audio to a FLV file stored on the users local hard disk. I have a version of this code working which uses NetConnection and NetStream to stream the video over a network to a FMS (Red5) server, but I'd like to be able to store the video locally for low bandwidth/flaky network situations. I'm using FLex 3.2 and AIR 1.5, so I don't believe there should be any sandbox restrictions which prevent this from occurring. Things I've seen: FileStream - Allows reading.writing local files but no .attachCamera and .attachAudio methids for creating a FLV. flvrecorder - Produces screen grabs from the web cam and creates it's own flv file. Doesn't support Audio. License prohibits commercial use. SimpleFLVWriter.as - Similar to flvrecorder without the wierd license. Doesn't support audio. This stackoverflow post - Which demonstrates the playback of a video from local disk using a NetConnection/NetStream. Given that I have a version already which uses NetStream to stream to the server I thought the last was most promising and went ahead and put together this demo application. Reinstallation version Windows 7?

I ordered a Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit os online and just received a DVD & Key Code sticker. The DVD label shows it to be a reinstallation DVD, Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit Dell branded and states that the DVD is only to be used to reinstall the OS on a Dell PC. I built this PC & it previously has had XP Pro installed for the last several years. A couple of weeks ago I had a problem with some Malware & made the mistake of attempting to reinstall the XP Pro only to find out that MS has locked out my key, the same one I have been using on this built PC for the last 3 years. The previous PC was built by a local PC builder & I just reinstalled the OS on the new system. Should I send this Win7 DVD back to where I bought it, or can I use it? What a mess, Thanks DWB
