• Django admin output extra HTML in ModelSite

  Ultimately, I want to add an <iframe> to the display of a particular model on Django's admin page. Django is already rendering the form for this model correctly, but I want to add this <iframe> in addition to Django's form. The src attribute needs to involve the primary key for the currently-displayed record. I've learned how to properly override the change_form.html template through Django's documentation, and I can add markup to the right block, but I can't figure out how to access the primary key value. (No amount of determined Googling has helped at all.) Alternatively, is there a direct way to specify that I want to produce extra output in my ModelSite definition?

• How to deal with routing when developing a custom CMS in Codeigniter

  Hi All - I’m a recent user of Codeigniter and am developing a simple backend CMS to manage pages. Based on a URL (in this example I have hidden “index.php”) : mysite.com/pagename I would like the system to detect if there is a value of “pagename” in my database, if there is, I need the system to re-route to a custom controller (eg: Pagemaker) and if there is no record called pagename, just do it’s normal thing (i.e. find a controller called pagename) Currently I have: $route['(:any)'] = "pagemaker/create/$1"; whereby all requests are forwarded to my custom function. However I want to change this structure so that if the page does NOT exist in the db, the traditional codeigniter request process is followed. Can anyone offer any advice about how to complete this? Or any advice about routing custom CMS’s in codeigniter in general?

NrDetail 1 0 xxx yyyy 1 2 0 aaaa bbbb 2 3 1 hhhhh ssss 0 4 2 eee sssss 0 5 2 jjj hhhh 0 As you can see, NrDetail contain the total of "child record". Unfortunately, i've to create this field... and i would like to write it in my table. So my SQL question is: how to do this type of SQL to write the field NrDetail ? Something like: UPDATE table SET NrDetail= (SELECT COUNT(*) as Total FROM table WHERE MasterID= RecordID) But i think there's some mistake... Thank you in advance !

• LINQ, Left Join, Only Get where null in join table

I am trying to do a left outer join on two tables, but I only want to return the results from the first table where the second table does not have a record (null). var agencies = from a in agencyList join aa in joinTable on a.AgencyId equals aa.AgencyId into joined from aa in joined.DefaultIfEmpty() where aa == null) select a; But this does not exclude the non null values of aa, and returns all the records just the same as if the 'where aa == null' was not there.   The application that I'm currently working on has a funky set up for the invoices that they print. The form is the invoice that is printed out. I took a look at the Northwind DB and what it does is and it actually generates a report based on the record's information. What are the limitations of using Forms vs. Reports for printing out reports? One of the limitations that I've run into so far is that the printed page is jam packed with information (all required) to fit on a single page, yet there is lots of wasted space for some stuff since elements on the page don't shrink or grow due to what's inputted into the textboxes. How are invoices designed for your applications? How do you handle space restraints for creating invoices?

• How to upload binary (audio) data from a Flash AS3 client to .NET server (WCF/REST/HTTP/?)?

  Simply stated: I'm trying to record audio in a browser, and get that data back up to the server. I originally tried to capture, encode and upload the audio using Silverlight, but because of the lack of suitable client-side encoding options, I'm now giving Flash a shot (Flash has baked-in support for encoding to Speex). I think I've figured out how to capture and encode the audio... But now what was easy in Silverlight, is the challenge in Flash. My server-side is .NET: MVC2- I'm open to receiving the audio in whatever manner is best- REST, WCF.. So that's my question: How could one upload binary data from Flash, to a .NET server-side endpoint. If the answer is WCF: then how would one setup the client-side proxies to communicate with the service? If the answer is REST or HTTP Post, then how would one construct this HTTP request and pass along the data? I've been reading up on AS3, but am new to Flash dev... Thanks for any help!

• Incremement Page Hit Count in Django

  I have a table with an IntegerField (hit_count), and when a page is visited (ie. http://site/page/3) I want record id 3 'hit_count' column in the database to increment by 1. The query should be like: update table set hit_count = hit_count + 1 where id=3 Can I do this with the standard Django Model conventions? Or should I just write the query by hand? I'm starting a new project, so I am trying to avoid hacks. We'll see how long this lasts! Thanks!

  I started an app that was initially a testing platform--user management, and managers that can view their employees tests. Recently, functionality has been extended (not built yet) to allow users to complete a test in place of an employee--basically adding a record, but no user. I have three tables in use for this: users(contains user info for login/security), profiles (all personal info: address, height, etc.), and survey (contains survey answers for user). How do I extend my application to encompass this functionality with minimal change to the structure? I assume that the best way to do this would be to insert records to the tables profiles and survey, and have no username/password/email? There MUST be a user_id associated b/c the tables are linked through the user_ids...

• Best way to store 3 pieces of data as a single entry

  For a game server, I want to record details when a player makes a kill, store this, and then at intervals update to a sql database. The part i'm interested in right now is the best method of storing the kill information. What i'd like to pass to the sql server on update would be {PlayerName, Kills, Deaths}, where the kills and deaths are a sum for the period between updates. So i'm assuming i'd build a list along the lines of {bob, 1, 0} {frank, 0, 1} {tom, 1, 0} {frank, 0, 1} then on update, consolidate the list to {frank, 14, 3}etc Can someone offer some advice please?

• Need some clarification with Patterns (DAO x Gateway)

  Me and my colleagues got into this discussion early this morning, and our opinions started to clash a bit, so I decided to get some impartial advice here. One of my colleagues reckons that the DAO should return an object (populated bean). I think it's completely fine when you're returning a recordset with only one line, but think it's overkill if you have to return 10 lines, and create 10 separate objects. I on the other see that the difference between DAO and Gateway pattern is that the gateway pattern will allow you to return a recordset to your business class, which will therefore deal with the recordset data and do whatever it needs to do. My questions here are: Which assumptions are correct? What should the return type be for a DAO (i.e. getContact() - for one record) Should getContacts() (for multiple records) even be on the DAO, if so, what's it's returntype? We seem to be having some sort of confusion about DAO and Gateway Patterns. Should they be used together? Thanks in advance

  Hey guys, I'm using a ldap server to store phonerecords. I want to select a record with a specific telnumber. So this is what I'm doing: LdapSearchResults lsc = _conn.Search(dnForPhonebook, 1, "(&(objectClass=*)(uid=" + id + "))", null, false); I'm using novell library for ldap commands. The options i need to give in for the Search command are the dn to the node "phonebook" (string), scope (int), filter (string), attrrs (string[]) and typesOnly (bool). As you can see, for the filter, i'm pasting the parameter as string in de stringfilter. I was wondering, does ldap have the same way of work as mysql or sql server, which can work with paramaters?   Hey guys/gals I'm writing a python script that fixes some duplicate issues on my database. I would like to display some progress status to the users, currently I just print it like this: print "Merged " + str(idx) + " out of " + str(totalCount); The problem is that it prints that in a new line for every record and that does not look so good :) I'd like to either always print the string above on the same line on the screen or use some smart widget that displays it in some sort of progress bar. I intent to run this on the command line, any suggestions will be much appreciated.

I want these metrics displayed on the map but then I want a link or button to view a full page description. I know that this is possible with Google Maps but I don't know a lot about Open Street Maps or other options. I am expecting around 50,000 views a day and am curious as to what the best option would be.

I have a model called Entry and the behavior automatically created the table entry_index. My question now is: How can I - without using the search(...) methods of my model use the data from this table? Yeah, I know I post a lot of questions, but thats because I either need assurance that I am doing it right, what I am doing wrong, or if I am totally clueless, and cant find anything in the documentation. Anyways, I am trying to check for duplicate nodes. Here is how I would want to do it: Loop thru my nodes, and compare each single node's text (record), but if I got many nodes, wouldnt that be too time and memory consuming?   I have a table with a column that will be encrypted by a trigger after the record is inserted. When I read the column, I need to apply a decrypt function in the hibernate domain class. While saving the object, the value of the column will be saved as such. While reading the column, apply a database function on the read data. @Formula and @Column annotation cannot be applied to an attribute in the entity class. How do I achieve this functionality without using one attribute for saving and another one with @Formula for reading it?

  I have multiple models which all have a FK to the same model. All I know is the FK how can I determine which of the models has the FK attached? • When does a MySQL Query actually execute in PHP?

  This sounds like a really simple question, but I am new to PHP. If I have a statement like this: $r =& $db->query("insert into table (col1, col2) values (10, 20)"); Do I have to still execute it, or does it get executed when I reference it? I have another case where I have a select query, which seems logically to run only when I call fetchrow, but the code I am presented with (to fix) does not call execute or fetch.I would have expected it to, so I cannot tell if it is just that I don't get it, or that the missing execute statement is the problem. It also does not insert the record, but it does not throw an error I can find. Also, I am a little confused by the =& notation. I looked it up on google, and found a few mentions of it, but I am still not clear on it. Thanks.
