    Hello, I am making a string class in C as a homework and I was wondering how I can make multiple constructors with the same name given the parameter. The commented out area is what I tried to do with results from a few searches but that gives me errors. Pretty much I have some cases where I want to create my new string without any parameter then in other cases create a string with a pointer to character.     I would like to sort alphanumeric strings the way a human being would sort them. I.e., "A2" comes before "A10", and "a" certainly comes before "Z"! Is there any way to do with without writing a mini-parser? Ideally it would also put "A1B1" before "A1B10". I see the question "Natural (human alpha-numeric) sort in Microsoft SQL 2005" with a possible answer, but it uses various library functions, as does "Sorting Strings for Humans with IComparer".     I want to select data from one table (T1, in DB1) in one server (Data.Old.S1) into data in another table (T2, in DB2) in another server (Data.Latest.S2). How can I do this ? Please note the way the servers are named. The query should take care of that too. That is, SQL server should not be confused about fully qualified table names. For example - this could confuse SQL server - Data.Old.S1.DB1.dbo.T1.

    There is a static class Pipe, defined in C++ header that I'm including. The static method I'm interested in calling (from Objetive-c) is here: static ERC SendUserGet(const UserId &_idUser,const GUID &_idStyle,const ZoneId &_idZone,const char *_pszMsg); I have access to an objetive-c data structure that appears to store a copy of userID, and zoneID -- it looks like: @interface DataBlock : NSObject { GUID userID; GUID zoneID; } Looked up the GUID def, and its a struct with a bunch of overloaded operators for equality.   • Db4o Mvc Application Architecture

    I am currently testing out Db4o for an asp.net MVC 2 application idea but there are a few things I'm not quite sure on the best way to proceed. I want my application to use guessable routes rather than Id's for referencing my entities but I also think I need Id's of some sort for update scenarios. so for example I want /country/usa instead of /country/1 I may want to change the key name though (not perhaps on a country but on other entities) so am thinking I need an Id to use as the reference to retrieve the object prior to updating it's fields. From other comments it seems like the UUID is a bit long to be using and would prefer to use my own id's anyway for clean separation of concerns. Looking at both the KandaAlpha project I wasn't too keen on some aspects of the design and prefer something more along the lines of S#arp architecture where they use things like the [domainsignature] and EntityWithTypedId, IEntityDuplicateChecker, IHasAssignedId, BaseObject and IValidatable in their entities to control insert/update behaviour which seems cleaner and more extensible, covers validation and is encapsulated well within the core and base repository classes. So would a port of S#arp architecture to Db4o make sense of am I still thinking rmdbs in an oodb world? Also is there a best practice for managing indexes (including Unique ones as above) in Db4o? Should they be model metadata based and loaded using DI in a bootstrapper for example or should they be more loaded more like Automapper.CreateMap? Its a bit of a rambling question I know but any thoughts, ideas or suggested reading material is greatly appreciated. Thanks Mac

  • Graceful termination of NSApplication with Core Data and Grand Central Dispatch (GCD)

    I have an Cocoa Application (Mac OS X SDK 10.7) that is performing some processes via Grand Central Dispatch (GCD). These processes are manipulating some Core Data NSManagedObjects (non-document-based) in a manner that I believe is thread safe (creating a new managedObjectContext for use in this thread). The problem I have is when the user tries to quit the application while the dispatch queue is still running. The NSApplication delegate is being called before actually quitting. - (NSApplicationTerminateReply)applicationShouldTerminate:(NSApplication *)sender I get an error "Could not merge changes." Which is somewhat expected since there are still operations being performed through the different managedObjectContext. I am then presented with the NSAlert from the template that is generated with a core data application. In the Threading Programming Guide there is a section called "Be Aware of Thread Behaviors at Quit Time" which alludes to using replyToApplicationShouldTerminate: method. I'm having a little trouble implementing this. What I would like is for my application to complete processing the queued items and then terminate without presenting an error message to the user. It would also be helpful to update the view or use a sheet to let the user know that the app is performing some action and will terminate when the action is complete. Where and how would I implement this behavior?
