• Android.mk - How to assemble and link ARM assembler files

  Hi, I have some *.cpp source files and some *.s ARM assembler files I want to assemble and link in my Android.mk file (by running ndk-build script). My Android.mk file looks like this: LOCAL_PATH:= $(call my-dir) include $(CLEAR_VARS) LOCAL_ARM_MODE := arm LOCAL_MODULE := libTestJNI LOCAL_SRC_FILES := Test.cpp TestAS_gas4.s LOCAL_CFLAGS := -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -DFPM_ARM -ffast-math -O3 -DOPT_ARM LOCAL_LDLIBS += -llog include $(BUILD_SHARED_LIBRARY) Unfortunately the .s file is not recognized. ndk-build says: Gdbserver : [arm-linux-androideabi-4.4.3] libs/armeabi/gdbserver Gdbsetup : libs/armeabi/gdb.setup make: ** No rule to make target /cygdrive/c/projects/TestAS_gas4.s', needed by/cygdrive/c/projects/obj/local/armeabi/objs-debug/libTestJNI/TestAS_gas4.o'. Stop. In a "normal" makefile I would have to assemble by using "as" in a rule. How is it done in the Android.mk files? /Kim

• error working with wsdl files in visual studio 2008

  Hi. I got a wsdl file in email. At first I didn't know how to use it. I've simply saved the file to my disk. Opened visual studio...added a service reference...provided path to file, and service was discovered. I opened the object browser to see the types and methods that got imported. I figure anything that ends with the name 'Client' is a good place to start using the web service. I've tried using a simple method to get data but it has run into and expception. Need help in resolving it. • python Socket.IO client for sending broadcast messages to TornadIO2 server

  I am building a realtime web application. I want to be able to send broadcast messages from the server-side implementation of my python application. Here is the setup: socketio.js on the client-side TornadIO2 server as Socket.IO server python on the server-side (Django framework) I can succesfully send socket.io messages from the client to the server. The server handles these and can send a response. In the following i will describe how i did that. I want to broadcast a message to all connected clients, so that they can be informed in realtime if a new user joins the party (for example in a chat application). So, here are my questions: How can i send a broadcast message to all connected clients? How can i send a broadcast message to multiple connected clients that are subscribed on a specific channel? How can i send a broadcast message anywhere in my python code (outside of the BaseConnection class)? Would this require some sort of Socket.IO client for python or is this builtin with TornadIO2? All these broadcasts should be done in a reliable way, so i guess websockets are the best choice. But i am open to all good solutions.

• Can Hudson branch promotion get based on project stability?

  Hudson CI server displays stability "weather" which is cool. And it allows one project build to kick off based on the successful build of another. However, how can you make that secondary project dependent additionally on the stability of multiple builds of the first project? Specifically, project "stable_deploy" needs to only kick off to promote a version to "stable" if project "integrate" with version 8.3.4.1233 has built and tested successfully at least 8 times--in a row. Until then, it's still in integration mode. IMPORTANT: A significant caveat to this is that a single set of Hudson projects gets used as a "pipeline" to process each new version through to release. So a project may have built successfully 8 times in a rolw but the latest version 8.3.4.1233 may be only the 2 most recent builds. The builds prior to that may be an earlier version. We're open to completely reorganizing this but the pipeline idea seemed to greatly reduce the amount of manually project creation and deletion. Is there a better way to track version release "pipeline"? In particular, we will have multiple versions in this pipeline simultaneously in the future due to fixes or patches to older versions. We don't see how to do that yet, except to create new pipeline projects for each version which is a real hassle. Here's some background details: The TickZoom application has some very complete unit tests some of which simulates real time trading environments. Add to that TickZoom makes elaborate use of parallelization for leveraging multi-core computers. Needless to say, during development of a new version, there can be stability issues during integration testing which get uncovered by running the build and auto tests repeatedly. A version which builds and tests cleanly 8 times in a row without change plus has undergone some real world testing by users can be deemed "stable" and promoted to the stable branch. Our Hudson projects look like this: test - Only for testing a build, zero user visibility. integrate_deploy - Promotes a test project build to integrate branch and makes it available to public for UA testing. integrate - Repeatedly builds the integrate branch to determine if it's stable enough to promote to stable branch. This runs the builds and test hourly throughout every night. stable_deploy - Promotes an integrate project build to the stable branch and makes it public for users who want the latest and greatest. stable - Builds the stable branch once every night. After 2 weeks of successful builds (14 builds) it can go to "release candidate". And so on... it continues with "release candidate" and then "release".

Sure, I can call this directly (RESTfully) with, say, WebClient but I thought the strong typing features in ADO.NET Data Services would "hide" this from me auto-magically. • Silverlight Cannot find XML data source

  Hello.. I am very new to Silverlight development. I understand that this is client side technology therefore the paradyme is differant from that of conventional ASP.NET development. Having said that, I don't understand where my server side code is deployed. I have a silver light \ MVC application. I am trying to read an XML document from within my 'Models' folder. The following peice of code is executed from within a class that is in the same location as the XML document, 'Models'. The load() results in a SystemIOFileNotFound exception. I noticed that when building the application the XML document is not laid down in the same location as the web project's assembly. I assume this is specific to the fact that this is a Silverlight project. • How to remove previous versions of Xcode

  When the 3.2 beta of the iPhone OS first came out, Xcode for 3.2 had to be installed side-by-side with the version for 3.1.2. I installed the new version (3.2) in /Developer and moved 3.1.2 to /Xcode3.1.2. Now I want to get rid of the old version and just use the new one since we can do that now. I ran the uninstall tool at /Xcode3.1.2/Library/uninstall-devtools and uninstall-developer-folder, but the directory still exists and has lots of stuff still in it, adding up to about 5 GB. At this point, am I safe just deleting the folder if I want to totally get rid of it and still use the /Developer folder? (At about 8 GB, it's got lots more in it, but I'm not sure if that's just because it's larger or because the old version was 8 GB before I ran the uninstall tool)?

I am using jQuery JavaScript Library v1.4.2 How do I access the elements in the array of objects? Adding more findings, code and questions: I don't see __type in the JSON object that is returned. Does that mean that the object sent from the server is not JSON formatted? When the __type is not a part of the response, I will not be able to use msg.d? (msg.d is undefined) Some more: 1. I can access the elements from client side using msg[0][0].Amount - How can I specifically JSON format my return object (from the server)

  I'm looking for a solution to create a sort of template in Objective C. I'll try to explain my problem. I would create a sort of main view which has 1 side bar that remain always visible. This side bar have controls. The main view is responsible to load a Navigation Controller (UINavigationController seems to be ok) that manages other views. When switching a view to another, the sidebar always remain visible under the Navigation Controller and its views. Through the controls of the sidebar, it's possible to send event to a specific view loaded by the Navigation Controller. Any idea to create a similar template? Thank you. Best regards.

• How do I generate coverage xml report for a single package?

  I'm using nose and coverage to generate coverage reports. I only have one package right now, ae, so I specify to only cover that: nosetests -w tests/unit --with-xunit --with-coverage --cover-package=ae And here are the results, which look good: Name Stmts Exec Cover Missing ---------------------------------------------- ae 1 1 100% ae.util 253 224 88% 39, 63-65, 284, 287, 362, 406 ---------------------------------------------- TOTAL 263 234 88% ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ran 68 tests in 5.292s However when I run coverage xml, coverage pulls in more packages than necessary, including python email and logging packages which have nothing to do with my code. If I run coverage xml ae, I get this error: No source for code: '/home/wraith/dev/projects/trimurti/src/ae': [Errno 21] Is a directory: '/home/wraith/dev/projects/trimurti/src/ae' Is there a way to generate the XML for just the ae package?

• What does <project> is obsolete mean?

  My batch build has a project, lets call it 'My.Project'. That project got up-reved to .NET 3.5 (from .NET 1.1) in its own standalone project (meaning its not part of this batch build). Most of it is the same, there are calls that were upgraded, features added/removed. I go to start replacing all calls that all the other projects use to that, now old, project with new calls. I first remove the old reference and then add the new one. One of my projects only has one call. When I go to make the changes, one namespace in the new project throws a 'My.Project.Namespace1 is obsolete' while another call to that project throws nothing. Is there something I should be looking for? What would be causing this?

  Form, Redirect and Forward all send an unauthenticated user to a Form on a login page specified within an Authkit middleware application. I'd like to allow a client application to request a service via XHR and then present a custom 'client side' form if a HTTP status code of 401 is returned, which would then post to Authkit for authentication until valid authentication/authorization occured. Specifically, 1) a jquery $.get request might request a resource. 2) if an Authkit cookie check confirmed previous authorization the content would be returned. 3) if not I would like Authkit to simply return the '401 response' (and not redirect to another page, or return a form template) where a client side exception handler would notify the user and present an authentication form. Can Authkit work like this?

• Which management tools would you recommend for software development?

  What would you generally recommend for software developement? Which combination do you use or would you recommend? I assume that tools are needed for Version control, issues/bugs/task, Release management, Requirement management. Tools for Test management and Project management should be accounted for as well, I guess. Did I forget anything? Maybe tools for Continous Integration. I'm not interested in a halfway combination of one ore two tools like a Subversion + Bugzilla (I know they are good but for a company they might not be sufficient). And also tools like make/ant shouldn't be taken into account. I'd like to know a combination that covers all what is important for professional software development. However, it could be a single tool of course if it covers all the management issues. What do you think would be a good combination? I assume a combination should be regardes as good if the tools itself are good but also if they have good integrations. Udate: Something like Ant is just a script not a management tool. Okay: we do already have Perforce. But this is somehow generic. We have different projects that uses C-, VS/.NET-, Python-, PHP and we will be starting new projects in Java. Plenty of languages and frameworks, though some are going to be legacy. So the tools should be generic. Obviously we don't want to use Bugzilla for one project and Jira for another. The management tools have to be generic. Further thoughts: Think of sourceforge: For each project they offer a version control system, an issue tracker, a wiki, ... totally independent of what the project is about. Those are some management tools that a project usually needs. I would say that most companies need such a set of tools. But I could imagine, if a company has several projects, they need further tools too: for Project management, Quality management, ... And I could imagine there are some recommendable combinations of tools. A not really apropiate comparison to this could be LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP). A combination of software that has evolved since they work very well together, and are pretty useful for a lot of applications (or rather web sites). So maybe there are some recommendable management tool combinations that also fit toghether like LAMP. The integration is important. Thank you for the incredibly fast and helpful responses!!!

• Apple Push notifications server - Feedback always returns zero tuples

  Hi, I am developing an iPhone App that uses Apple Push Notifications. On the iPhone side everything is fine, on the server side I have a problem. Notifications are sent correctly however when I try to query the feedback service to obtain a list of devices from which the App has been uninstalled, I always get zero results. I know that I should obtain one result as the App has been uninstalled from one of my test devices. After 24 hours and more I still have no results from the feedback service.. Any ideas? Does anybody know how long it takes for the feedback service to recognize that my App has been uninstalled from my test device? Could it be due to the sandbox environment?

  I working for some numbers of years in an medium size ecomerce company where we developing and maintaining large distributed ecomerce system that is a core of company business. I thinking to switch job and one of the offers is in consulting company, the model of work there is different you suppose to work for couple of months at different clients of this company developing different project, this mode of working is very different for me and I don't sure if I will like it. From the positive side I will get experience in a lot of different projects in very different problem domains and with a lot of different technologies. From the negative side, I will always be an outsider in all this companies, placed in some far away corner I probably will have little emotional connection to projects I suppose to work on. Do you have some personal experience working in both of this types of companies that you could share ?

• Add jar to EAR in Eclipse

  I have several projects in an EAR in Eclipse. These projects themselves have dependency jar's on the build path marked as "do not export, do not contribute to others". Now in Eclipse I add jar's to the EAR via the EAR properties "Java EE Module Dependencies". I browse to the jar (add jar) and click ok. The jar is added to the list. When I click apply, the added jar is gone from the list, it cannot be found in other properties, it is contained in the hidden folder .settings in the file org.eclipse.wst.common.component. This behaviour does not make much sense to me, what am I missing?

• Tinymce extended_valid_elements for BBcodes?

  I use Tinymce with BBcodes plugin so the tags used in the editor are [B] [U] [I] [quote] [color]. If you are familiar with TinyMce there is a great option to filter all unwanted tags when pasting to the editor. Unfortunately i think this is not working for BBcodes mode, what i want is to remove any <TAGS> Or Other Unwanted BBcodes such as [url] & [img] So, my white list is : [B] [U] [I] [quote] [color=XXXXXX]. I'm already filtering in the server side, but i want this to be implemented in the client side too, So by example if someone copied from a webpage a mix of images and urls and formatted text, every image will be stripped and every url will be "unclickable" directly after pasting.   I have a few software developers working for my projects and I would like to provide them a way to register time they spent on real development. There is good will to register development hours, no force, but we try to avoid techniques like excel sheets register because this is so uncomfortable. I can track svn commits, but this is unreliable. Developers also helps supporting different projects during the day, so assuming they work on one project by whole day is not true. I've seen utilities that popups a message every hour to confirm the project you're working on but this is annoying. Some kind of active-window-title-anaylzer might help (you can get solution name from there in the case of Visual Studio) but I have no experience with such idea. If you have any experience with programmers/designers work hours registration, please share with me. Thanks

  I've recently been trying out Ankhsvn and I quite like it, and more importantly, it generally likes me. But I've hit a problem adding existing VS projects to subversion using AnkhSVN. Most Windows and Web projects are added fine, but I have a problem when I try to a Websites (as opposed to Web Applications), and in these cases I get the following error: No versioned parent directories After some googling, I've come across other people with the same problems and there have been one or two suggests for solving the problem, but non so far have worked. AnkhSVN is popular enough, and although web applications are often preferred to websites these days, I'm hoping that someone here has a ready solution available.

• indentationLevelForRowAtIndexPath not indenting custom cell

  I have overridden the tableView:indentationLevelForRowAtIndexPath method in my UITableViewController derived class as follows: - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView indentationLevelForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSDictionary* item = [self.projects objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; int indentationLevel = [[item objectForKey:@"indent"] intValue]; DLog (@"Indentation Level for Row %d : %d", indexPath.row, indentationLevel); return indentationLevel; } I initially thought that this was not being called but that was operator error (err, mine) and I hadn't defined the symbol DEBUG=1.
