• jquery button click not firing asp.net button

  I've got a .net button that has an href attribute value set to 'javascript:WebForm_DoPostBackWithOptions(new WebForm_PostBackOptions("ctl00$cp1$ucInvoiceSearch$btnSearch", "", true, "", "", false, true))'. I've got a textbox that when I press enter I want it to fire this event. Doing the 'Enter' event isn't an issue but I can't get the event on the href to fire using .click(). Here's my function so far: $("[id*='tbInvNo']").keyup(function(event){ var $btn = $(".pnl-invoice-search"); if(event.keyCode == 13) $btn.click(); }); I've got no idea how to get this to fire. Hope someone can help - jQuery and asp.net are driving me up the wall today! :(

  I have to import the contents of a spreadsheet in my asp.net project. The code behind is c#. I figured out how to locate the spreadsheet on the user's computer and how to import the data from a given worksheet into a datable. The problem is I may not know the name of the worksheet ahead of time. I want to present the user with a list of available worksheets and have them pick one. That is the piece I don't know how to do.   Hi all, I am implementing an multilingual web site using ASP.Net. The languages are English,French and Arabic. Please note that Arabic's direction is RTL. What is the best way to implement the multilingual support. I am planning to use the .Net localization feature but the website texts are stored in DB. For the controls ( form controls) , I can used resx file. Do I need to build two different pages ( one for LTR and another for RTL )? Or can I have one ASPx file for all the three languages? • Debugging ASP.NET on a built-in web server suddenly stops

  I have Windows Server 2008 (64-bit), VS 2008 with its built-in webserver and an ASP.NET MVC 1.0 webapp. All I'm trying to do is to debug said app. I have a bunch of breakpoints, but they behave in a very strange way. When I fist start a debugging session with F5 and hit a breakpoint, the debugger stops just fine. However, after serveral F10s/F11s debugging suddenly "stops" (no exceptions at that time), but neither VS detaches from browsers' process, nor webapp execution stops: Visual Studio stays attached, and web request continues executing as usual. I tried various browsers (Chrome, Firefox, IE), but to no avail. What do I do to solve this? It really drives me insane.

• Dynamic data validation in ASP.NET MVC

  I've recently read about the model validation capabilities of ASP.NET MVC which are all very cool until a certain point. What happens if the application doesn't know the data that it works with because it is all stored in DB and built together at runtime. Just like in Drupal, I'd like to be able to define custom types at runtime, and assign runtime validation rules as well. Obviously, the idea of assigning attributes to well established models is now gone. What else could be done ? I am thinking in terms of rules being stored as JSON objects in the DB fields or something like that.

  Hi All, I am using asp.net 3.5 and C#. I have a blog site and I want that whenever user enter any comment, the suscriber related to that post will get the notification. So what I am doing that I am sending mail at the same time as the comment is inserted into the table, which sometimes take time because of the quantity of user. Is their any way that user enter the comment into the database and the send mail function will run asynchornysly which will not interfear user to go ahead with his task. please let me know how to acheieve it in a simplier way.   Basically I have an asp.net website with login and search pages. Currently, I have no idea why, when ever a user hits enter in either of the login text boxes (user name/password) or in the Seach text box, the website is redirected to the default page. I have no idea why this is happening, I've tried setting defaultButton on both the panel containing the search and the login panel but that doesnt seem to work. I've also tried catching the key press event with javascript which isnt working either. I have no idea what event is being fired and why, or why it seems to override everything I try to do. Anyone seen anything like this before?

  Hi All, I've implemented the ASP.NET Calendar control. I'm using it to show events happening in the area. THE PROBLEM Today is August 18th, so when the calendar loads, August is selected as the current month. If I navigate to say October, and then navigate to another page and then try to go back to the page with the Calendar by clicking the browser Back button, the Calendar resets back to August, instead of remaining at October. Can anyone recommend how I may circumvent this? Thanks!

  Is it possible to implement post-redirect-get pattern, with two overloaded action methods(One for GET action and the other for POST action) in ASP.NET MVC. In all of the MVC post-redirect-get pattern samples, I have seen three different action methods for the post-redirect-get process, each having different names. Is this really required?   I know, different forms of this questions were asked on this site multiple times, but I haven't seen a single answer that would satisfy my need. I need a ASP.NET based blogging engine that wouul use SQL Server as a back end and allow multiple independet blogs in one app instance. I'm writing a community website for major bank and blogging is the piece I'm not sure about. Answers to other questions include a broad spectrum from BlogEngine.NET (doesn't support multiple blogs) to CommunityServer (a beast! blogging is just asmall piece of it). I don't want to install a full-blown CRM and just use blogging, I want a blogging engine. I don't mind to buy a commercial one but I can't find one. I'm pretty much stuck, and any ideas are highly appreciated!

  Hello, I was searching for a way of detecting in my C# code if the page had been refreshed (f5). First I don’t know if a jQuery/JavaScript solution would be better than a fully C# ASP.Net. So... the first question would be: What would make you choose one over the other? And the third, and most important part, is if someone would help me with this. Some good tutorial, or article… anything. I tried some solutions out there… but maybe, because of my lack of knowledge they didn’t work. Thanks in advance.

  Hi guys, Is there any way to find out if ASP.Net runtime has served a cached copy of ASPX page or actually went through the page life cycle? Here is my problem: I'm seeing many entries in my IIS log files that were served successfully (200 OK). I've a corresponding logging code (Log4Net API) in the Session_Start and Application_BeginRequest() events that is logging every request to my DB with more details. I'm not seeing any corresponding entries in my SQL DB for some cases that should have been created by Log4Net code. Are there any logs available to find out if a cached copy was served by .NET worker process? Moreover, if my logging code would throw an exception, won't that show up as 500 in IIS logs? The code is on Windows 2008 Server, IIS 7.

  Hi, I am trying to setup ASP.Net MVC 2 application on Linux environment. I've installed Ubuntu 10.10 on VirtualBox, then installed Mono 2.8 from sources. After that I have installed nginx and configure it as recommended here. Unfortunately, FastCGI shows me standard error 500 page: No Application Found Unable to find a matching application for request: Host localhost:80 Port 80 Request Path /Default.aspx Physical Path /var/www/mvc/Default.aspx My application is located in /var/www/mvc directory. I've tried to create some stub Default.aspx file and place it in root dir of my application, but it didn't help, same error occured. Thanks.

• Continuous Deployment with a C#/ASP.NET website?

  I have a website in C#/ASP.NET that is currently in development. When we are in production, I would like to do releases frequently over the course of the day, as we fix bugs and add features (like this: http://toni.org/2010/05/19/in-praise-of-continuous-deployment-the-wordpress-com-story/). If you upload a new version of the site or even change a single file, it kicks out the users that are currently logged in and makes them start over any forms and such. Is there a secret to being able to do deployments without interfering with users for .NET sites?

  I've got a problem with the timer in asp.net ajax. The timer needs to trigger every second so I put the delay of the timer (don't know the real name atm) at 1000. Now when I put this timer inside an UpdatePanel it doesn't really trigger every second because the timer also gets updated in the UpdatePanel. But when I put the timer outside the update panel it keeps kinda refreshing the page, so whenever I put a button on the same page I need to press and release this button within 1 second else it gets refreshed. Also I saw that even outside of the UpdatePanel the timer isn't a real second. Any solutions?

  Hi For my web application, I want a 10*10 (100 cells which is created dynamically) grid to be displayed in the following manner. 0) Initially all the cells' color is green. 1) If i click on any cell its color becomes red if it is green and if i click again it becomes red.(Toggle the cell color) 2) I should be able to display dynamic number of link buttons in each cell.On the click of which it pop ups a window.   This is really an extension of this question, which asked the best way to schedule tasks which need to be performed periodically within ASP.NET in a normal environment. However, I would like to ask this specifically for a Shared Hosting Environment (most of the answers to the previous question would not work in a shared environment as far as I know). One obvious solution would be to have a page which is responsible to performing the tasks on the hosted machine, and call this page from another machine (that you have full control over) using e.g. a windows scheduled task. This is a bit nasty though - are there any better approaches?

  I have created a website in ASP.NET = www.vif-tech.com/BidsOnline When I am running it on Localhost using Visual Studio 2008, its running perfectly without any postback because I am using Ajax Update Panels (where data is changing constantly). But when I am running from my web server i.e. www.vif-tech.com/BidsOnline, its making postbacks every seconds. Even I tried changing connection string on my localhost and tried connecting to main database (not on my localhost), it's still making postbacks. Is there some error in my DB or page ?

• ASP.net Literal or Page altering HTML string, causing formatting issues

  We have a service that generates a report (using word templates and a 3rd party library), and then returns a string in HTML. While this HTML isn't great - its formatted correctly in this string. We want this HTML to show up on a page - format intact. What we currently have done is set an ASP.net Literal's text element to this string. While this works, I have noticed that it has reformatted the HTML string slightly. For the most part, it looks like it generated a bunch of new CSS classes, and a new style element in the HTML. This HTML does not exist in the string thats being returned. I could filter all of this back out, but wonder if there is a better way. I assume that the Page itself is altering something. What is the best way to display this raw HTML back to the user? I can't directly use a Response.Write(string), because this page does have a few other controls on it.

• ASP.NET WebMethod Returns JSON wrapped in quotes

  Hi, I have an asp.net page with a WebMethod on it to pass JSON back to my javascript. Bellow is the web method: [WebMethod] public static string getData(Dictionary<string, string> d) { string response = "{ \"firstname\": \"John\", \"lastname\": \"Smith\" }"; return response; } When this is returned to the client it is formatted as follows: { \"d\": \"{ \"firstname\": \"John\", \"lastname\": \"Smith\" }\" } The problem is the double quotes wrapping everything under 'd'. Is there something I've missed in the web method or some other means of returning the data without the quotes? I don't really want to be stripping it out on the client everytime. Also I've seen other articles where this doesn't happen. Any help would be appreciated thanks.
