• ASP.NET Routing (in WebForms)not working when deployed under IIS,Works in IDE

  I have an ASP.NET web application(webforms,not MVC) developed in VS 2008 and i have implemented ASP.NET web forms URL routing by following this link http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/articles/051309-1.aspx#postadlink It works pretty good when i run it on the Visual studion IDE.But does not works when i created a site under my IIS (IIS 5.1 in XP) and deployed the same files there.I have set ASP.NET version as 2.0 in the Properties window of my application too.But does not work. Any idea Why ? Is there anything else to be setup ? Thanks in advance

  Hi All, ran into an issue, we are using webforms with a site with this dir structure: root: / secure : /securepages/ we only want users who are logged in to access /securepages/. currently we are using the login control, 3.5, forms auth, all is working ok but know we have thrown assl cert into the mix and the issue is that the login control is requesting WebResource.axd?d=XukT0PE1PS-iOKw3RT8Z6g2&t=633834231612265882 from the non secure url e.g. ht tp://www.mysite.com/WebResource.axd?d=XukT0PE1PS-iOKw3RT8Z6g2&t=633834231612265882 . This causes the browser to prompt the user to download unsecure content. I am using some redirecting in the global.asax to handle redirection to https://xx xxxlogin.aspx if login.aspx it requested from http://. thanks

  so i came across this interesting article on WPF exception handling: http://srtsolutions.com/public/item/251263 it works by declaring DispatcherUnhandledException handler in xaml <application> node. but what if a WPF window is launched from win forms application? where can i declare a general exception handler? The problem is that when WPF crashes, it brings down the whole WinForms app with it. *Edit what if instead of launching the WPF window directly, i launched an "Application" which than defined a start window?? is that possible/advisable?

  I extended the User model in django to include several other variables, such as location, and employer. Now I'm trying to create a form that has the following fields: First name (from User) Last name (from User) Location (from UserProfile, which extends User via a foreign key) Employer (also from UserProfile) I have created a modelform: from django.forms import ModelForm from django.contrib import auth from alert.userHandling.models import UserProfile class ProfileForm(ModelForm): class Meta: # model = auth.models.User # this gives me the User fields model = UserProfile # this gives me the UserProfile fields So, my question is, how can I create a ModelForm that has access to all of the fields, whether they are from the User model or the UserProfile model? • What language is to binary, as Perl is to text?

  I am looking for a scripting (or higher level programming) language (or e.g. modules for Python or similar languages) for effortlessly analyzing and manipulating binary data in files (e.g. core dumps), much like Perl allows manipulating text files very smoothly. Things I want to do include presenting arbitrary chunks of the data in various forms (binary, decimal, hex), convert data from one endianess to another, etc. That is, things you normally would use C or assembly for, but I'm looking for a language which allows for writing tiny pieces of code for highly specific, one-time purposes very quickly. Any suggestions?

  I have a simple form that generates a new photo gallery, sending the title and a description to MySQL and redirecting the user to a page where they can upload photos. Everything worked fine until the ampersand entered the equation. The information is sent from a jQuery modal dialog to a PHP page which then submits the entry to the database. After Ajax completes successfully, the user is sent to the upload page with a GET URL to tell the page what album it is uploading to -- $.ajax ({ type: "POST", url: "../../includes/forms/add_gallery.php", data: $("#addGallery form").serialize(), success: function() { $("#addGallery").dialog('close'); window.location.href = 'display_album.php?album=' + title; } }); If the title has an ampersand, the Title field on the upload page does not display properly.   Designing forms has always been fun, but getting them to send email on the server side is another story. I have used various email scripts (dynaform,phpmailer, etc), and have experienced a ton of problems. So here is the site I am working on: Contact On the Right. It is very basic: no validation, no required fields. I simply need anything that is entered to be sent back to me.   Hello im a newbie at using Drupal, and have come across a block in my progress. I have been using CCK to add new content types to my forms. I was wondering if there was any way to add to the form that is generated so that i may contain the elements and also insert visual html code like head rules etc. I have dabbled with the hook_form_alter() and it does not seem to help me in my efforts. Ive been through adjusting tpl.php files and such and have made no progress. Please if there is any one there in the inter-webs who is knowledgeable on this matter your advice would be greatly appreciated. Here is just an example of what I would want to do within the form: 1. • Is the single <form runat="server">-element requirement really necessary for ASP.NET WebForms?

  Looking at some of the changes coming to WebForms in ASP.NET 4.0 I can see many improvements that give developers even more control over the output. Some of these improvement have been a long time coming, and for some time it seemed that it wasn't even possible. It made me wonder if the current model with the single form element that runs on the server is really the only possible way. Why couldn't the ASPNET WebForm architecture work with multiple forms that all run on the server? Imagine if you could architect this change. How would it impact the way we write codebehind today? Would it introduce extra complexity? Would it change the way event handlers work, or validation, or ASP.NET Ajax with the ScriptManager and UpdatePanel controls?

  I just started playing with Linq to entities in a windows forms application and am not understanding one behavior that looks so simple though. If i type code below, i get ReadOnly records in my dataGridView Dim x = From n in Table1 _ Select n.FirstName, n.LastName, N.Department DataGridView1.DataSource = x But if i type the following code, i get editable rows in my dataGridView Dim x = From n in Table1 _ Select n DataGridView1.DataSource = x So, basically if i specify the column names to select and databind to my DataGridView1, the rows are readonly but if i do not specify the column names and databind to the DataGridView, the rows are editable and i don't understand why.

• IE form input data disappear after browser refresh

  Hi, I'm trying to achieve sticky forms without PHP. My setup is AJAX like javascript. The back/forward work fine on both IE and FF, but refresh only works on FF, not IE. Doesn't matter what cache options I use, I've even set IE's temporary files option to never check for updates, and the input value is gone after page refresh(the refresh button or F5) I've read many posts where people have the opposite problem, and do not want form data to persist across page refresh, and never read from browser cache, but I do. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

• Easiest way to retrofit retry logic on LINQ to SQL migration to SQL Azure

  I have a couple of existing ASP .NET web forms and MVC applications that currently use LINQ to SQL with a SQL Server 2008 Express database on a Windows VPS: one VPS for both IIS and SQL. I am starting to outgrow the VPS's ability to effectively host both SQL and IIS and am getting ready to split them up. I am considering migrating the database to SQL Azure and keeping IIS on the VPS. After doing initial research it sounds like implementing retry logic in the data access layer is a must-do when adopting SQL Azure. I suspect this is even more critical to implement in my situation where IIS will be on a VPS outside of the Azure infrastructure. I am looking for pointers on how to do this with the least effort and impact on my existing code base. Is there a good retry pattern that can be applied once at the LINQ to SQL data access layer, as opposed to having to wrap all of my LINQ to SQL operations in try/catch/wait/retry logic?

Is it possible to parse Win32 DLL/Exe in C#.NET, read its export table,import table and get managed types from it. As its unmanaged PE(.NET doesn't allows you to convert unmanaged PE files to managed .NET assemblies, only it generates COM managed assemblies). So how to parse export and import tables of PE files and take all methods(signatures from it) in managed form.(e.g if char* as argument, it should display as IntPtr)

• C# Sharp Windows Application prevents Windows from shutting down / logging off

  I have written a C# Windows Forms application, not a service (it is only used when the user is logged in and has a graphical user interface) that has a background thread running in an infinite loop. When I try shutting down Windows (7) however, it tells me the program is preventing it from shutting down or logging off and asks me whether I want to force a shutdown. Now, is there any possibility for my program to become aware (get a handler) of Windows trying to quit it or to log off? So, what I need is to make the application realize when Windows tries to quit. I'm trying to design my data access to allow various facets - from ASP.net, WCF and Windows Forms / Windows services. I'm a bit confused re: session management etc.. How would I handle this? Do i need to create different repositories for each client? The farthest I've gotten is knowing it involves Win32 Hooking and that there's this open source project called EasyHook that's supposed to allow me to do this. I'd like to know how I can get the text from a textbox or some other data from a control in a third-party Win32 application. The text/data in a control is to be captured from the external application's running window the moment the user presses a button. I guess the question can be summed up as follows: How do you determine the event to hook to when the user clicks a certain button? How do you get the value displayed by a Win32 control at the time the button is clicked?

How do I properly repaint the component?

• Generating a scalogram of a signal

  Hi there, I'm trying to build a scalogram view for my app to see whether there is relevant information we can retrieve from a wavelet transform as opposed to using a spectograms to see what can be retrieved via an FFT. So far I can take a wave form and I can perform the forward wavelet transform on it. However I am lost at the next step. How do I turn this information into power/energy information? I have a set of wave forms at different frequencies but I have, as I say, no frequency information. Can anyone tell me what the next step is for turning this transformed data into a scalogram? Any help would be much appreciated because my google skills are failing me!
