  Hi I hope I can get all the help i can get here. I am new to mobile phone programming. I find networking very interesting and I have this question: Does Mobile phone like WinMo or other phone have Server:Port scheme and what are the ports ? To show what I mean, I use PC to demonstarte, there are many ports ( restricted and established ).   According to the documentation, I should be able to configure the size of my OpenLayers popup by declaring an OpenLayers.Size object in the FramedCloud constructor: this.popup = new OpenLayers.Popup.FramedCloud('featurePopup', this.options.feature.geometry.getBounds().getCenterLonLat(), new OpenLayers.Size(80, 60), this.template(this.formattedAttrs()), null, true, this.onPopupClose ); Currently the popup that is rendered is autosized no matter what dimensions I use in the constructor. I've tried manually setting the autosizing attribute of the FramedCloud to false as well as manually adjusting the css styling for the popup without achieving the results I need. I checked and found some similar issues in the OpenLayers 2.11 issues list, but I haven't found a workaround. Any ideas?

• How to handle failure to release a resource which is contained in a smart pointer?

  How should an error during resource deallocation be handled, when the object representing the resource is contained in a shared pointer? Smart pointers are a useful tool to manage resources safely. Examples of such resources are memory, disk files, database connections, or network connections. // open a connection to the local HTTP port boost::shared_ptr<Socket> socket = Socket::connect("localhost:80"); In a typical scenario, the class encapsulating the resource should be noncopyable and polymorphic. A good way to support this is to provide a factory method returning a shared pointer, and declare all constructors non-public. The shared pointers can now be copied from and assigned to freely. The object is automatically destroyed when no reference to it remains, and the destructor then releases the resource. /** A TCP/IP connection. */ class Socket { public: static boost::shared_ptr<Socket> connect(const std::string& address); virtual ~Socket(); protected: Socket(const std::string& address); private: // not implemented Socket(const Socket&); Socket& operator=(const Socket&); }; But there is a problem with this approach. The destructor must not throw, so a failure to release the resource will remain undetected. A common way out of this problem is to add a public method to release the resource. class Socket { public: virtual void close(); // may throw // ... }; Unfortunately, this approach introduces another problem: Our objects may now contain resources which have already been released. This complicates the implementation of the resource class. Even worse, it makes it possible for clients of the class to use it incorrectly. The following example may seem far-fetched, but it is a common pitfall in multi-threaded code. socket->close(); // ... size_t nread = socket->read(&buffer[0], buffer.size()); // wrong use! Either we ensure that the resource is not released before the object is destroyed, thereby losing any way to deal with a failed resource deallocation. Or we provide a way to release the resource explicitly during the object's lifetime, thereby making it possible to use the resource class incorrectly. There is a way out of this dilemma. But the solution involves using a modified shared pointer class. These modifications are likely to be controversial. Typical shared pointer implementations, such as boost::shared_ptr, require that no exception be thrown when their object's destructor is called. Generally, no destructor should ever throw, so this is a reasonable requirement. These implementations also allow a custom deleter function to be specified, which is called in lieu of the destructor when no reference to the object remains. The no-throw requirement is extended to this custom deleter function. The rationale for this requirement is clear: The shared pointer's destructor must not throw. If the deleter function does not throw, nor will the shared pointer's destructor. However, the same holds for other member functions of the shared pointer which lead to resource deallocation, e.g. reset(): If resource deallocation fails, no exception can be thrown. The solution proposed here is to allow custom deleter functions to throw. This means that the modified shared pointer's destructor must catch exceptions thrown by the deleter function. On the other hand, member functions other than the destructor, e.g. reset(), shall not catch exceptions of the deleter function (and their implementation becomes somewhat more complicated). Here is the original example, using a throwing deleter function: /** A TCP/IP connection. */ class Socket { public: static SharedPtr<Socket> connect(const std::string& address); protected: Socket(const std::string& address); virtual Socket() { } private: struct Deleter; // not implemented Socket(const Socket&); Socket& operator=(const Socket&); }; struct Socket::Deleter { void operator()(Socket* socket) { // Close the connection. If this is the last reference to the resource, the resource is released. If resource deallocation fails, an exception is thrown. • Manipulating Exchange 2003 shared contacts folder remotely

  I've got a CRM web app running on a remote server that needs to synchronise it's contacts with the in-house Exchange 2003 shared contacts. I know very little about Exchange - we are pricing a job for a new client so I'm really just getting a sense of the scope at this stage. Exchange 2003 doesn't seem to support web-services. What would the typical approach to this problem be? My initial instinct would be to open port 80 in the Exchange server, run a simple webserver and POST to it and then talk to exchange via OLE automation scripting (if that's what people are still calling it!) Any other suggestions?

• Can I change class types in a setter with an object-oriented language?

  Hello, Here is the problem statement : Calling a setter on the object should result in the object to change to an object of a different class, which language can support this ? Ex. I have a class called "Man" (Parent Class), and two children namely "Toddler" and "Old Man", they are its children because they override a behaviour in Man called as walk.( i.e Toddler sometimes walks using both his hands and legs kneeled down and the Old man uses a stick to support himself). The Man class has a attribute called age, I have a setter on Man,say it is called setAge(int ageValue). I have 3 objects, 2 toddlers, 1 old-Man. (The system is up and running,i guess when we say objects it is obvious) .I will make this call, toddler.setAge(80), I expect the toddler to change to an object of type Old Man. • NGINX/PHP downloading instead of executing

  I have an NGINX server with fastcgi/PHP running on it. I need to add userdirs to it, but I can't get PHP to execute the files - it just asks me if I want to download it. It does work without the userdir (eg: it works on physibots.info/hugs.php, but not physibots.info/~kisses/hugs.php) Any help is greatly appreciated. • All sites give Error 500 under Sharepoint Foundation (SP2010)

  I've just installed Sharepoint Foundatuion on my W2008 64bit server and got it up and running as far as being able to access the Central Admin etc just fine. I did have to disable 32 bit apps in the application pools for all the SP sites and also, following a tip on here, add a config option for bitness64 as a prerequisite for the services. However whenever I try to access the "Sharepoint - 80" site itself (or another site collection I created in the admin tool), I am getting an unhelpful 500 error. The log doesn't add anything - I can't find anything to give me a clue as to what it's complaining about. The server is a hosted VPS and all services like SQL are running locally (and are OK). Any ideas where I look next? M

  Anyone know of a project(s) that seek to abstract form definitions on level higher than WPF, Silverlight, Winforms, WebForms, etc... I'm working on a project where we are fixing up 16 somewhat simple WebForms. But we may convert (and probably will convert to WPF or Silverlight 3 to 4 months from now. I'd rather define these forms once and be done with it. I'm willing to write a small DSL to help define forms, subforms, validation, links, and popups. I'm only looking to solve this for 80% or 90% of the forms. Four are very complicated and I'm willing to hand code these. I guess I'm looking for something like what XUL had hoped to be.

  Hi, I need in animation of sequence of more PNG files (300 png files and size is 320x480). I've try make it with 12 fps, but sometime iPhone 3g have lags... 3gs working fine. I think 2g working with lags always. I've use one UIImageView and loading images in NStimer callback by UIImage:imageWithContentOfFile. May be this is not best way to animation png files ? note: previously i've used ImageOptim to pack (or strip ??) all my images (from 20% to 80% of size strip). regards,

• UITableViewCell and strange behaviour in grouped UITableView

  I'm working on a grouped UITableView, with 4 sections with one row per section, and have a strange behaviour with the cells. The cells are plain UITableViewCells, but the height of the cells are around 60 - 80 pixel. Now the tableview renders the cells correct with round corners, but when I select the cells, they appear blue and recangle. I don't know why the cells behave like this, because I have another grouped UITableView with custom cells and 88 pixel height and those cells work like they should. If I change the height to the default height of 44 pixel, the cells behave like the should. Does anyone know about this behaviour and what the cause is? Like I mentioned, I don't do any fancy stuff I use default UITableViewCells in a static, grouped UITableView with 4 sections with 1 row in each section. evangelion2100

  I was looking at some code in Python (I know nothing about Python) and I came across this portion: def do_req(body): global host, req data = "" s = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET, socket.SOCK_STREAM) s.connect((host, 80)) s.sendall(req % (len(body), body)) tmpdata = s.recv(8192) while len(tmpdata) > 0: data += tmpdata tmpdata = s.recv(8192) s.close() return data This is then called later on with body of huge size, as in over 500,000 bytes. This is sent to an Apache server that has the max request size on the default 8190 bytes. My question is what is happening at the "s.sendall()" part? Obviously the entire body cannot be sent at once and I'm guessing it is reduced by way of the modulus operator. I don't know how it works in Python, though. Can anyone explain? Thanks.

• Rolling back or re-creating the master branch in git?

  I have a git repo which has a few branches - there's the master branch, which is our stable working version, and then there is a development/staging branch which we're doing new work in. Unfortunately it would appear that without thinking I was a bit overzealous with rebasing and have pulled all of the staging code into Master over a period of time (about 80 commits... yes, I know, stupid, clumsy, poor code-man-ship etc....). Due to this it makes it very hard for me to do minor fixes on the current version of our app (a rails application) and push out the changes without also pushing out the 'staged' new features which we don't yet want to release. I am wondering if it is possible to do the following: Determine the last 'trunk' commit Take all commits from that point onward and move them into a separate branch, more or less rolling back the changes Start using the branches like they were made for. Unfortunately, though, I'm still continually learning about git, so I'm a bit confused about what to really do here. Thanks!

• Why is my condition onsubmit not returning false?

  After asking a couple of questions I managed to create this form. I didn't have troubles making it return false if the submitted value was 0 but I cannot make it return false when it's the string 'Cambia de ciudad". I'm sure I'm messing with the quotes or something like that.   I've seen some limited resources on checking for cookies with Nginx, but I couldn't really find the answer I was looking for, hopefully some of you Nginx masters can give me a hand. • PATH_INFO in Apache is eating the first part of the path. Why?

  I'm writing a simple mod_perl handler that relies on $r-path_info() to do some request routing. However, I find that it's always eating the first part of PATH_INFO when mounted on root. Let's say that the handler just prints the value of $r-path_info: <Location /TEST> PerlHandler MyHandler </Location> Request: /TEST/123 Expected PATH_INFO: /123 Got PATH_INFO: /123 (yay!) <VirtualHost *:80> # or <Location /> for that matter PerlHandler MyHandler </VirtualHost> Request: /123 Expected PATH_INFO: /123 Got PATH_INFO: nothing! • Algorithm design: can you provide a solution to the multiple knapsack problem?

  I am looking for a pseudo-code solution to what is effectively the Multiple Knapsack Problem (optimisation statement is halfway down the page). I think this problem is NP Complete so the solution doesn't need to be optimal, rather if it is fairly efficient and easily implemented that would be good. The problem is this: I have many work items, with each taking a different (but fixed and known) amount of time to complete. I need to divide these work items into groups so as to have the smallest number of groups (ideally), with each group of work items taking no longer than a given total threshold - say 1 hour. I am flexible about the threshold - it doesnt need to be rigidly applied, though should be close. My idea was to allocate work items into bins where each bin represents 90% of the threshold, 80%, 70% and so on. I could then match items that take 90% to those that take 10%, and so on. Any better ideas?

  Hello, This question mixes client-side scripting with server-side parsing. In some cases, I'm writing a cookie to the user's browser using the document.cookie property. In other cases, I'm writing the same cookie to the user's browser through the ASP.NET Response object. When I'm writing the HttpCookie on the server-side, I am using the Values collection (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/library/system.web.httpcookie.values%28v=VS.80%29.aspx) to store key/value pairs in the cookie. I would also like to be able to write key-value pairs to the cookie through JavaScript. How do I create cookies with Key/Value pairs via JavaScript that ASP.NET can parse? Thank you!

• Single static HTML file: how can I serve it efficiently?

  Good afternoon. I have a domain and server that I've procured for non-HTML services. Should anyone stumble across port 80 of this server, I'd like to serve them a page explaining what the domain & server is for, instead of just 404'ing them. How can I serve one small, static, independent (i.e.: no images or CSS) HTML file, with a minimum of effort (meaning both a smooth setup for me, and minimum CPU expense). The server contains an untouched installation of ArchLinux, and I'm open to solutions in any language. (Note: I am a slight newbie when it comes to this, so forgive me if this question seems trivial or obvious.) Thank you.

  I have been doing a little reading on Flow Based Programming over the last few days. There is a wiki which provides further detail. And wikipedia has a good overview on it too. My first thought was, "Great another proponent of lego-land pretend programming" - a concept harking back to the late 80's. But, as I read more, I must admit I have become intrigued. Have you used FBP for a real project? What is your opinion of FBP? Does FBP have a future? In some senses, it seems like the holy grail of reuse that our industry has pursued since the advent of procedural languages.
