• Flash computeSpectrum() unsynchronized with audio

  I am using Flash's (CS4, AS3) SoundMixer.computeSpectrum to visualize a DFT of what supposed to be, according to the docs, whatever is currently being played. However, there is a considerable delay between the audio and the visualization (audio comes later). It seems that computeSpectrum captures whatever is on it's way to the buffer, and not to the speakers. Any cure for this?

  I have noticed that when you view PDFs in google docs the PDF viewer renders the PDF file into PNG images. I was wondering if you could use Google Data API to upload a PDF and get the URLs of the rendered PNG files? I have never used the google API or really had the extra time to learn it, but if it help me do this it will be well worth the extra time.

• Berkeley DB: btree prefix comparison for directory-like keys?

  I'm going to index a BDB with keys that look a lot like directory paths ('/foo/bar', '/foo/baz', etc, with levels of slashes generally < 10). Does anybody have any experience with using a Btree prefix comparison routine[1] for this? Are the savings worthwhile? Any references to experience papers on this subject?   using the delcarative_authorization gem for rails, is there a shortcut to allow a role access to all controller actions? privileges do # default privilege hierarchies to facilitate RESTful Rails apps privilege :manage, :includes => [:create, :read, :update, :delete] end isn't sufficient, because I have more controlling methods than just CRUD in my controllers. Something like: role :foo do has_permission_on :bar, :to =>[:all] end would be perfect, but I'm not finding it in the docs.

  I need to plot a normal distribution and then shade some specific region of it. Right now I'm doing this by creating a plot of the distribution and overlaying it with a RegionPlot.   I've just converted an application from MVC 1 to MVC 2 using the VS2010 wizard. Not found is the Html.RenderPartial which I have sprinkled around a number of views. I am guessing that this is something that I've done wrong because I see no mention of this as a breaking change in the white papers and docs.   Not sure if many people are familiar with Scaffolding Extensions for Ruby, but I've looked through their docs, forums, and even the source code of the Heroku test site, and not found an answer. I made a basic Sinatra app and followed right from the RDoc's instructions: require 'scaffolding_extensions' require 'sinatra/base' class Thingy < Sinatra::Base scaffold_all_models end gives undefined method 'scaffold_all_models' for Thingy:Class (NoMethodError) and I know Scaffolding Extensions is loadable because I can successfully set some config variables in its classes.

• JMF. Create new custom streamdatasource

  Hi there. I am looking to create a means of building a DataSource object (and hence a Processor) that gets data from a stream instead of a file, RTP, and so on. I am writing a module for a much larger application that is meant to transparently transcode audio data. Going through the JMF docs only specify how to create a source from file however I need to be able to create a source from a stream within my application. Any idea where I can start looking?
