  • Android programming. Application stopped unexpectedly.

    I've just created a prototype of interface for my android app and tried to run it. Unfortunately I get an error that my app has stopped unexpectedly (my reputation doesn't allow me to post images so follow my links): screenshot of error message This is layout mode of editing.     I have a DataGrid with one column using a UserControl via a styled DataGridTemplateColumn. I can't seem to get the UserControl to 'see' the object that is in it's containing DataGridCell though. What kind of bindings can I create on the TextBox in my UserControl so that it can look up and see that object?!     I use the ddwrt:FormatDateTime function to format the output like yyyyMMdd. inputs like 01/01/2010 work fine but when the day gets over the number 12 the output is an emtpy string. ddwrt:FormatDate(string(@myDate), 1033, 'yyyyMMdd') At first I thought it could be a language specific problem but even none of those combinations work: 13/01/2010 01/13/2010 13.01.2010

I've got an ant script that packages my code up into a war with the cometd 1.1.1 binaries and jetty binaries that are appropriate to the version of jetty I deploy the war to (so 7.1.2.v20100523 binaries when I deploy to jetty 7.1.2.v20100523 and 6.1.24 when I deploy to 6.1.24).   • How to override C# DateTime serialization with class auto-generated from wsdl?

    I have a WSDL that the consumer of my web service expects will be adhered to strictly. I converted it into an interface with wsdl.exe and had my web service implement it. Except for this problem, I have been generally pleased with the results. A simple GetCurrentTime method will have the following response class generated from the WSDL in the interface definition: [System.CodeDobmCompiler.GeneratedCodeAttribute("wsdl", "2.0.50727.3038")] [System.SerializableAttribute()] [System.Diagnostics.DebuggerStepThroughAttribute()] [System.ComponentModel.DesignerCategoryAttribute("code")] [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlTypeAttribute(Namespace="[Client Namespace]")] public partial class GetCurrentTimeResponse { private System.DateTime timeStampField; [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute(Form=System.Xml.Schema.XmlSchemaForm.Unqualified] public System.DateTime TimeStamp{ // [accesses timeStampField] } } When I put the response data into the automatically generated response class, it gets serialized into an appropriate XML response. (Most of the web methods have much more complicated return types with multiple levels of arrays.) The problem is that the default serialization of DateTime objects violates one of the requirements in the WSDL: ... <xsd:simpleType name="SearchTimeStamp"> <xsd:restriction base="xsd:dateTime"> <xsd:pattern value="[0-9]{4}-[0-9]{2}-[0-9]{2}T[0-9]{2}:[0-9]{2}:[0-9]{2}(.[0-9]{1,7})?Z"> </xsd:restriction> </xsd:simpleType> ... Note the last part of the pattern where subseconds must be either 1 or 7 characters if they are included. The client seems to be rejecting the response because it does not match that requirement. The main issue is that when .NET serializes a DateTime object, it omits all trailing zeroes, meaning the resulting subsecond value varies in length. (e.g., "12:34:56.700" gets serialized as "<TimeStamp>12:34:56:7</TimeStamp>" by default). We use millisecond precision, so I need all timestamps to format with 7 subsecond digits in order to be compliant with the WSDL. It would be easy if I could specify a format string, but I'm not sure how to control the string that the DateTime object uses to serialize to XML, or to otherwise override the serialization behavior. How do I do this? Keeping in mind the following... I would like to modify the generated code as little as possible... preferably not at all if the change can be made through a partial class or inherited class. Using an inherited class for the return type of the web method will cause the web service to no longer implement the auto-generated interface. The TimeStamp type occurs in other, more complex response types. So, manually overriding the entire serialization process may be prohibitively time-consuming.

    I'm trying to modify the behavior of an IDispatch interface already present in the system. To do this my plan was to hook into the objects v-table during runtime and modify the pointers so it points to a custom hook method instead. If I can get this to work I can add new methods and properties to already existing objects. Nice. First I tried hooking into the v-table for IUnknown (from which IDispatch inherits from) and that worked fine. However trying to change entires in IDispatch doesn't work at all.     I am trying to use Reflection.Emit to generate a wrapper class in a dynamic assembly. Automatic wrapper generation is part of a new open-source library I'm writing called "GoInterfaces". The wrapper class implements IEnumerable<string> and wraps List<string>.     I am creating UTF16 text files with Matlab, which I am later reading in using Java. In Matlab, I open a file called fileName and write to it as follows: fid = fopen(fileName, 'w','n','UTF16-LE'); fprintf(fid,"Some stuff."); In Java, I can read the text file using the following code: FileInputStream fileInputStream = new FileInputStream(fileName); Scanner scanner = new Scanner(fileInputStream, "UTF-16LE"); String s = scanner.nextLine(); Here is the hex output: Offset(h) 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 0A 0B 0C 0D 0E 0F 10 11 12 13 00000000 73 00 6F 00 6D 00 65 00 20 00 73 00 74 00 75 00 66 00 66 00 s.o.m.e. .s.t.u.f.f. The above approach works fine. But, I want to be able to write out the file using UTF16 with a BOM to give me more flexibility so that I don't have to worry about big or little endian. In Matlab, I've coded: fid = fopen(fileName, 'w','n','UTF16'); fprintf(fid,"Some stuff."); In Java, I change the code to: FileInputStream fileInputStream = new FileInputStream(fileName); Scanner scanner = new Scanner(fileInputStream, "UTF-16"); String s = scanner.nextLine(); In this case, the string s is garbled, because Matlab is not writing the BOM. I can get the Java code to work just fine if I add the BOM manually. With the added BOM, the following file works fine. Addendum I selected the answer below from Amro because it exactly solves the question I posed. One key discovery for me was the difference between the Unicode Standard and a UTF (Unicode transformation format) (see http://unicode.org/faq/utf_bom.html). The Unicode Standard provides unique identifiers (code points) for characters. UTFs provide mappings of every code point "to a unique byte sequence." Since all but a handful of the characters I am using are in the first 128 code points, I'm going to switch to using UTF-8 as Romeo suggests. UTF-8 is supported by Matlab (The warning shown below won't need to be suppressed.) and Java, and for my application will generate smaller text files. I suppress the Matlab warning Warning: The encoding 'UTF-16LE' is not supported. with warning off MATLAB:iofun:UnsupportedEncoding;
