• iPhone: Howto get notified when an UIView becomes visible

  Is there a way to get a notification, a callback or some other means to call a method whenever a UIView becomes visible for the user, i.e. when a UIScrollview is the superview of some UIViews, and the ViewController of such a UIView shall get notified when its view is now visible to the user? I am aware of the possible, but not so elegant solution of checking to which position the ScrollView scrolled (via UIScrollViewDelegate-methods) and compute if either one of the subviews is visible... But I'm looking for a more universal way of doing this.

• Can not clone git repo to server

  I'm running the same command on 2 different servers. One works, the other doesn't. I'm running git clone https://blah.com:8443/blah.git On server A, it works fine. I get the objects, files, etc. no problems. On server B, I get the following message. git clone https://blah.com:8443/blah.git Cloning into 'blah'... error: Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with known CA certificates while accessing https://blah.com:8443/blah.git/info/refs?service=git-upload-pack fatal: HTTP request failed Does anyone know what this means or what I need to do to get this to work?   Hello SAP-Gurus, im fairly new to webdynpro abap and have the following problem: I created a service returning a set of all existing customers. This function works well, if i test it in a litte program simply printing out the lines. now i created a webdynpro containing a table to display these customers. I also did the binding! AND it works, but only if an event fires the execute...function. What i need is kind of "execute initially", means that the function gets executed when the table initially loads. How can i do this? • CHtmlView class and focus

  I have an SDI application written in MFC. The frame is divided into 1 row and 2 columns using a splitter window. Below are details of Row and Column (R0C0 means Row#0 and Col#0) R0C0 view is a CFormView with multiple input controls like text box, combo box etc. R0C1 view is a CHtmlView that contains HTML content relavant to the control that has input focus in the R0C0 I am able to update the HTML content and also invoke Javascript functions through my MFC code. Problem: When user clicks on the R0C1, continaing CHtmlView, the focus is now on the html page. I wish to allow the user to tab out of R0C1 using the key board and return back to R0C0. Can you help with this please? The user can obviously click on the R0C0 view using mouse but we have a user who needs to use Keyboard for using this functionality. • Exceptions silently caught by Windows, how to handle manually?

  We're having problems with Windows silently eating exceptions and allowing the application to continue running, when the exception is thrown inside the message pump. For example, we created a test MFC MDI application, and overrode OnDraw: void CTestView::OnDraw(CDC* /*pDC*/) { *(int*)0 = 0; // Crash CTestDoc* pDoc = GetDocument(); ASSERT_VALID(pDoc); if (!pDoc) return; // TODO: add draw code for native data here } You would expect a nasty error message when running the application, but you actually get nothing at all. The program appears to be running perfectly well, but if you check the output window you will see: First-chance exception at 0x13929384 in Test.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation writing location 0x00000000. First-chance exception at 0x77c6ee42 in Test.exe: 0xC0150010: The activation context being deactivated is not active for the current thread of execution. I know why I'm receiving the application context exception, but why is it being handled silently? It means our applications could be suffering serious problems when in use, but we'll never know about it, because our users will never report any problems.

• .NET SortedDictionary But Sorted By Values

  I need a data structure that acts like a SortedDictionary<int, double> but is sorted based on the values rather than the keys. I need it to take about 1-2 microseconds to add and remove items when we have about 3000 items in the dictionary. My first thought was simply to switch the keys and values in my code. This very nearly works. I can add and remove elements in about 1.2 microseconds in my testing by doing this. But the keys have to be unique in a SortedDictionary so that means that values in my inverse dictionary would have to be unique. And there are some cases where they may not be. Any ideas of something in the .NET libraries already that would work for me?

• Boost::Asio : io_service.run() vs poll() or how do I integrate boost::asio in mainloop

  Hi, I am currently trying to use boost::asio for some simple tcp networking for the first time, and I allready came across something I am not really sure how to deal with. As far as I understand io_service.run() method is basically a loop which runs until there is nothing more left to do, which means it will run until I release my little server object. Since I allready got some sort of mainloop set up, I would rather like tp update the networking loop manually from there just for the sake of simplicity, and I think io_service.poll() would do what I want, sort of like this: void myApplication::update() { myIoService.poll(); //do other stuff } This seems to work, but I am still wondering if there is a drawback from this method since that does not seem to be the common way to deal with boost::asios io services. Is this a valid approach or should I rather use io_service.run() in a non blocking extra thread?

• When using a package or framework is there a standard way to use version control?

  i.e. Do you put the whole package under VCS or just the components you are programming? Packages by there nature will get upgraded and that code will need to be added into the VCS, plus there is a lot of code that is static. Specifically I am going to be working on Joomla, adding and building modules, customising modules and the look and feel. Initially this will be just me but will expand to possibly two more developers as the project ramps up. My reaction would be just to VCS the lot, it means that i know it is all there and deployment via CI is easier(?). The alternative is to exclude the bulk of the code that is not being altered which could be error prone and laborious. As there is not a specific answer for this and i am looking for either experience or best practice advice i have marked it community wiki.

  Hello, I try to execute the mvn sonar:sonar command on a machine where Maven is configured to have no access to external repositories (in reality, this is not exactly the case, but it helps me to explain my problem). So currently, if I run this command, I get the following error: [ERROR] BUILD ERROR [INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [INFO] The plugin 'org.codehaus.mojo:sonar-maven-plugin' does not exist or no valid version could be found I think it means that I have some incorrect metadata in my local repository, as I have a [local repo]\org\codehaus\mojo\sonar-maven-plugin\1.0-beta-1 directory (with the JAR inside, of course). • Multiple file types in vim

  When I am working on a PHP file for example the default filetype is php. This makes sense, however when that PHP file has HTML as well the filetype is still only php. For some plugins that means that I get the PHP functionality for that plugin, but miss out on the HTML functionality. A more specific situation where this happens is with my snippet plugin. I get php snippets and not html snippets when I am editing a php file. Possible solutions to this (which I obviously don't like, hence my posting this question) are: add a map to toggle between different filetypes when I am editing different sections of the file. update my php snippets file to include the html snippets as well (while this would work for the example above, it doesn't solve the fundamental problem). So, Is there a way to edit a file using multiple filetypes at the same time in vim?

  We have a tool that generates some code (.cs) files that are used to build the project. The tool is run during the pre-build step, but the files are updated in the solution only after the build, which means the build needs to be performed twice to clear the errors after a change to the input. Example: Modify Tool Input File Run Build Tool Runs and changes source file Build Fails Run Build Tool Runs and changes source file (but it doesn's actually change, because the input remains the same) Build Succeeds Any ideas how we can do away with the double build, and still let our tool be run from VS?   I am using SOLR along with NGramTokenizerFactory to help create search tokens for substrings of words NGramTokenizer is configured with a minimum word length of 3 This means that I can search for e.g. "unb" and then match the word "unbelievable". However I have a problem with short words like "I" and "in". These are not indexed by SOLR (I suspect it is because of NGramTokenizer) and therefore I cannot search for them. I don't want to reduce the minimum word length to 1 or 2, since this creates a huge search index. But I would like SOLR to include whole words whose length is already below this minimum.   class << self attr_accessor :n, :totalX, :totalY end The syntax above is used for defining class instance variables. But when I think about what syntax implies, it doesn't make any sense to me, so I'm wondering if this type of syntax is used for any other types of definitions. My point of confusion here is this: class << self The append operator normally means "add what's on the right to the object on the left". But in the context of this block, how does that add up to "put the contents of this block into the definition of the class instance rather than the instance"? For the same reason I'm confused as to why in one context class << self can define class instance variables while in another it seems to create class variables such as here: class Point # Instance methods go here class << self # Class methods go here end end

  What is your preferred approach to serializing BigDecimal in GWT? Are there any clever workarounds, or do you simply use Double or String? Of all of the GWT pains this is so far the biggest; I'd hate to create two models, one for server and one for GWT, and transform data from one to the other. On the other hand, while I don't care much about using String instead of, say, javax.xml.datatype.Duration, I have to use BigDecimal on the server because of the calculations, which means either two models and conversion, or tons of tiny conversions to BigDecimal for every calculation.

• java regex illegal escape character error not occurring from command line arguments

  This simple regex program import java.util.regex.*; class Regex { public static void main(String [] args) { System.out.println(args[0]); // #1 Pattern p = Pattern.compile(args[0]); // #2 Matcher m = p.matcher(args[1]); boolean b = false; while(b = m.find()) { System.out.println(m.start()+" "+m.group()); } } } invoked by java regex "\d" "sfdd1" compiles and runs fine. But if #1 is replaced by Pattern p = Pattern.compile("\d");, it gives compiler error saying illegal escape character. In #1 I also tried printing the pattern specified in the command line arguments. It prints \d, which means it is just getting replaced by \d in #2. So then why won't it throw any exception? At the end it's string argument that Pattern.compile() is taking, doesn't it detect illegal escape character then? Can someone please explain why is this behaviour?

• Server 2008 Web Edition IIS6 SMTP conflict

  I'm using IIS6 Manager to setup the SMTP service on Windows Server 2008 Web Edition. Ignoring how mental this is, there seems to be a conflict (port 25?) which means that I cannot start and stop the Default SMTP server within IIS6. I can start and stop it with the services.msc snap in and this is reflected in state of the SMTP server in IIS6 manager. I'm worried that none of the settings I want to get at within IIS6 (logging, authentication etc..) are having any effect. None of these settings are available within IIS7 in Web Edition. Idiotic.

  So Rails and Merb are sort of merging in Rails 3.0? Thats how its been described to me anyway. This means that a lot of what made Rails, Rails will now be moved to plug-ins so that it can be more lightweight. HOwever, what are those plug-ins going to be and as a new Rails developer, what are THE must have - and also more mature - plug-ins that a Rails developer should install? Some good examples I can think of might be will_paginate, ruby_prof or sqlite3-ruby.

• Sys undefined for HTTPS url in IE8

  I just discovered a rather peculiar issue in IE8 for a HTTPS link. Every time the page tries to access the HTTPS link, it produces an error. This happens only in IE8 and nothing else. Any idea what's going on? I found some items that said that means the files were not loaded, hence the issue and tried some fixes recommended, but they haven't worked so far. • jQuery events .load(), .ready(), .unload()

  Hi folks, Just a simple question, for the jquery event. Are the .load(), .ready() and .unload() run in order when the DOM is loaded? The answer seems yes when I see the jQuery Documentation. <script type="text/javascript"> $(window).load(function () { // run code initializeCode(); }); $(document).ready(function() { //run code that MUST be after initialize }); $(window).unload(function() { Cleanup(); }); </script> However, the code inside the .ready() is execute before the initializeCode(); is execute, so I feel really strange. And now I have to place my code inside the .onload() method and just after the initializeCode(); line, which means to be inside the .ready() block. Could someone explain me more about this, as I am new to jQuery. Thank you so much.

• SVM in OpenCV: Visual Studio 2008 reported error wrongly (or is it right?)

  I'm using MS Visual Studio 2008, OpenCV, C++ and SVM for a OCR-related project. At least I can run the code until yesterday, when I open the project to continue working, VS reported this error: error C2664: 'bool CvSVM::train(const CvMat *,const CvMat *,const CvMat *,const CvMat *,CvSVMParams)' : cannot convert parameter 1 from 'cv::Mat' to 'const CvMat *' It didn't happen before and I haven't changed any code relating to it (I only changed the parameters for the kernel). The code got error is: Mat curTrainData, curTrainLabel; CvSVM svm; . . . svm.train(curTrainData, curTrainLabel, Mat(), Mat(), params); If I hover on the code, I still got this tip: image. Which means my syntax isn't wrong. So why do VS bother to report such an error?

• How does Linq-to-Xml convert objects to strings?

  Linq-to-Xml contains lots of methods that allow you to add arbitrary objects to an xml tree. These objects are converted to strings by some means, but I can't seem to find the specification of how this occurs. The conversion I'm referring to is mentioned (but not specified) in MSDN. I happen to need this for javascript interop, but that doesn't much matter to the question. Linq to Xml isn't just calling .ToString(). Firstly, it'll accept null elements, and secondly, it's doing things no .ToString() implementation does: For example: new XElement("elem",true).ToString() == "<elem>true</elem>" //but... true.ToString() == "True" //IIRC, this is culture invariant, but in any case... true.ToString(CultureInfo.InvariantCulture) == "True" Other basic data types are similarly specially treated. So, does anybody know what it's doing and where that's described?

• Using Java to retrieve the CPU Usage for Window's Processes

  Hello all, I am looking for a Java solution to finding the CPU usage for a running process in Windows. After looking around the web, there seems to be little information on a solution in Java. Keep in mind, I am not looking to find the CPU usage for the JVM, but any process running in Windows at the time. I am able to retrieve the memory usage in Java by using the exec("tasklist.exe ... ") to retrieve and parse process information. Although there is an aggregate CPU cycle timer for each process, I do not see a CPU usage column. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, if possible, I would like to stay away from C libraries; however, if there is no other alternative, a solution by that means would be appropriate. Thanks a lot, Steve

  Hi all, I just installed gd2 using mac ports (sudo install gd2), which installed libraries in the following places: /opt/local/include/gd.h /opt/local/lib/libgd.dylib (link) /opt/local/lib/libgd.la /opt/local/lib/libgd.a So when I create my c++ app I add '#include "gd.h"', which throws: main.cpp:4:16: error: gd.h: No such file or directory If I set gd.h as an absolute path (as above)(not a solution, but was curious), I am thrown: g++ -L/opt/local/include -L/opt/local/lib main.o Heatmap_Map.o Heatmap_Point.o -o heatmap Undefined symbols: "_gdImagePng", referenced from: _main in main.o "_gdImageLine", referenced from: _main in main.o "_gdImageColorAllocate", referenced from: _main in main.o _main in main.o "_gdImageDestroy", referenced from: _main in main.o "_gdImageCreate", referenced from: _main in main.o "_gdImageJpeg", referenced from: _main in main.o ld: symbol(s) not found So, I understand this means that ld can not find the libraries it needs (hence trying to give it hints with the "-L" values). So after giving g++ the -L hints and the absolute path in #include, I can get it to work, but I don't think I have to do this, how can I make g++/ld search int eh right places for the libraries?
