  • ProFTPd with sftp first login fails, seconds succeeds

    - by Nahrub
We are working with ProFTPd and SFTP module enabled. We have a problem with using the sftp module. When we try to connect to server in FileZilla we need to enter the password to the server twice, upon connection and upon each file upload, which is very undesired. How can we help this? any idea's? suggestions? when we use the interactive login type in FileZilla, it works when we enter the username and password twice.

  • postfix 5.7.1 Relay access denied when sending mail with cron

    - by zensys
Reluctant to ask because there is so much here about 'postfix relay access denied' but I cannot find my case: I use php (Zend Framework) to send emails outside my network using the Google mail server because I could not send mail outside my server (user: web). However when I sent out an email via cron (user: root, I believe), still using ZF, using the same mail config/credentials, I get the message: '5.7.1 Relay access denied' I guess I need to know one of two things: 1. How can I use the google smtp server from cron 2. What do I need to change in my config to send mail using my own server instead of google Though the answer to 2. is the more structural solution I assume, I am quite happy with an answer to 1. as well because I think Google is better at server maintaince (security/spam) than I am. Below my ZF application.ini mail section, main.cf and master.cf: application.ini: resources.mail.transport.type = smtp resources.mail.transport.auth = login resources.mail.transport.host = "smtp.gmail.com" resources.mail.transport.ssl = tls resources.mail.transport.port = 587 resources.mail.transport.username = [email protected] resources.mail.transport.password = xxxxxxx resources.mail.defaultFrom.email = [email protected] resources.mail.defaultFrom.name = "my company" main.cf: # Debian specific: Specifying a file name will cause the first # line of that file to be used as the name. • Digest authentication not working: endless cycles of asking for user/pass

    - by bcmcfc
I'm trying to setup my SVN repository for access remotely. In doing so I have some settings under Apache's dav_svn.conf file. When navigating to hostname/svn, or using Tortoise to do the same it prompts for the user name and password as expected. However, when entering the correct user name and pass that were set in the password file linked to under AuthUserFile it just asks for the credentials again. I think I'm probably missing something simple? The server is running Ubuntu Server 9.10. Accessing SVN remotely does currently work if the authentication lines of dav_svn.conf are commented out. These are the contents of the dav_svn.conf file: <Location /svn> DAV svn SVNPath /home/svn/repo AuthType Digest AuthName "Subversion Repository" AuthDigestDomain /svn/ AuthUserFile /etc/svn_authfile Require valid-user </Location>

  • What changes can be made to a Microsoft Account using net user on Windows 8?

    - by nhinkle
In Windows 8, you can log on with a local account or with a Microsoft Account. Both types show up in the Users control panel, but there are different options that you can change for each type. An administrator can change basically any aspect of a local user - name, password, access level, etc. For a Microsoft Account, you can only change the access level (admin/standard) or remove the account. From the command line though, there don't appear to be any restrictions on what you can do a Microsoft Account. Using the net user tool or the Local Users and Groups MMC snap-in, it looks like an administrator would be able to change the password, display name, profile path, etc. of Microsoft Accounts (as well as local accounts of course). Will these commands actually work when applied to a Microsoft Account? Will using them in some way break the link to the Microsoft Account, or will nothing happen at all? I'm hesitant to test since I don't want to mess up my account permanently.

  • Configuring WPA2-Enterprise with Freeradius

    - by Vincent O.
I'm trying to set up an authenticated wifi network with Freeradius. I've managed to get things working using self-signed certs etc. The problem is Windows clients need to uncheck the "Automatically use my windows logon name and password [etc.]" option in the MSCHAPv2 settings. When I connect to my local university with Eduroam, it automatically asks for a username and password instead of sending windows login credentials. How did the sysadmins accomplish this? Is it some kind of RADIUS Attribute that gets sent back?

  • Hiding a file or data from being accessed unless on scheduled days [closed]

    - by gkt.pro
Possible Duplicate: restricting access to volumes disk even for admin account windows How to restrict use of a computer? I want to limit my access to some data and what I want is that I should be able to access the data only on certain days of the month (e.g., every 3rd day). Is there any way like encryption or some utility to allow me to only access data on specific days? One idea that I was thinking of was to encrypt the data and store the password (will be complex and long so that I couldn't remember it right away) on some website which would then email me back the password in future on those specific days.

  • Need help setting up OpenLDAP on OSX Mountain Lion

    - by rjcarr
I'm trying to get OpenLDAP manually configured on OSX Mountain Lion. I'd prefer to do it manually instead of installing OSX server, but if that's the only option (i.e., OpenLDAP on OSX isn't meant to be used without server) then I'll just install it. I've seen guides that mostly just say to change the password in slapd.conf and then start the server and it should work. However, whenever I try to do anything with the client it tells me this: ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49) I've tried encrypting the password as well as leaving it plain it doesn't seem to matter. The version is 2.4.28 and I've read as of 2.4 OpenLDAP uses slapd.d directories, but that doesn't seem to be the case in OSX. There was mention of an 'olcRootPW' I should use (instead of 'rootpw' in slapd.conf), but I only found that in a file named slapd.ldif. So ... I'm really confused. Has anyone got OpenLDAP working on OSX Moutain Lion without the server tools?

  • Relay Access Denied (State 13) Postfix + Dovecot + Mysql

    - by Pierre Jeptha
    So we have been scratching our heads for quite some time over this relay issue that has presented itself since we re-built our mail-server after a failed Webmin update. We are running Debian Karmic with postfix 2.6.5 and Dovecot 1.1.11, sourcing from a Mysql database and authenticating with SASL2 and PAM. Here are the symptoms of our problem: 1) When users are on our local network they can send and receive 100% perfectly fine. 2) When users are off our local network and try to send to domains not of this mail server (ie. gmail) they get the "Relay Access Denied" error. However users can send to domains of this mail server when off the local network fine. 3) We host several virtual domains on this mailserver, the primary domain being airnet.ca. The rest of our virtual domains (ex. jeptha.ca) cannot receive email from domains not hosted by this mailserver (ie. gmail and such cannot send to them). They receive bounce backs of "Relay Access Denied (State 13)". This is regardless of whether they are on our local network or not, which is why it is so urgent for us to get this solved. Here is our main.cf from postfix: myhostname = mail.airnet.ca mydomain = airnet.ca smtpd_banner = $myhostname ESMTP $mail_name (Ubuntu) biff = no smtpd_sasl_type = dovecot queue_directory = /var/spool/postfix smtpd_sasl_path = private/auth smtpd_sender_restrictions = permit_mynetworks permit_sasl_authenticated smtp_sasl_auth_enable = yes smtpd_sasl_auth_enable = yes append_dot_mydomain = no readme_directory = no smtp_tls_security_level = may smtpd_tls_security_level = may smtp_tls_note_starttls_offer = yes smtpd_tls_key_file = /etc/ssl/private/ssl-cert-snakeoil.key smtpd_tls_cert_file = /etc/ssl/certs/ssl-cert-snakeoil.pem smtpd_tls_loglevel = 1 smtpd_tls_received_header = yes smtpd_tls_auth_only = no alias_maps = proxy:mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql/alias.cf hash:/etc/aliases alias_database = hash:/etc/aliases mydestination = mail.airnet.ca, airnet.ca, localhost.$mydomain mailbox_command = procmail -a "$EXTENSION" mailbox_size_limit = 0 recipient_delimiter = + local_recipient_maps = $alias_maps $virtual_mailbox_maps proxy:unix:passwd.byname home_mailbox = /var/virtual/ mail_spool_directory = /var/spool/mail mailbox_transport = maildrop smtpd_helo_required = yes disable_vrfy_command = yes smtpd_etrn_restrictions = reject smtpd_data_restrictions = reject_unauth_pipelining, permit show_user_unknown_table_name = no proxy_read_maps = $local_recipient_maps $mydestination $virtual_alias_maps $virtual_alias_domains $virtual_mailbox_maps $virtual_mailbox_domains $relay_recipient_maps $relay_domains $canonical_maps $sender_canonical_maps $recipient_canonical_maps $relocated_maps $transport_maps $mynetworks $virtual_mailbox_limit_maps $virtual_uid_maps $virtual_gid_maps virtual_alias_domains = message_size_limit = 20971520 transport_maps = proxy:mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql/vdomain.cf virtual_mailbox_maps = proxy:mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql/vmailbox.cf virtual_alias_maps = proxy:mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql/alias.cf hash:/etc/mailman/aliases virtual_uid_maps = proxy:mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql/vuid.cf virtual_gid_maps = proxy:mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql/vgid.cf virtual_mailbox_base = / virtual_mailbox_limit = 209715200 virtual_mailbox_extended = yes virtual_create_maildirsize = yes virtual_mailbox_limit_maps = proxy:mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql/vmlimit.cf virtual_mailbox_limit_override = yes virtual_mailbox_limit_inbox = no virtual_overquote_bounce = yes virtual_minimum_uid = 1 maximal_queue_lifetime = 1d bounce_queue_lifetime = 4h delay_warning_time = 1h append_dot_mydomain = no qmgr_message_active_limit = 500 broken_sasl_auth_clients = yes smtpd_sasl_path = private/auth smtpd_sasl_local_domain = $myhostname smtpd_sasl_security_options = noanonymous smtpd_sasl_authenticated_header = yes smtp_bind_address = 142.46.193.6 relay_domains = $mydestination mynetworks = 127.0.0.0, 142.46.193.0/25 inet_interfaces = all inet_protocols = all And here is the master.cf from postfix: # ========================================================================== # service type private unpriv chroot wakeup maxproc command + args # (yes) (yes) (yes) (never) (100) # ========================================================================== smtp inet n - - - - smtpd #submission inet n - - - - smtpd # -o smtpd_tls_security_level=encrypt # -o smtpd_sasl_auth_enable=yes # -o smtpd_client_restrictions=permit_sasl_authenticated,reject # -o milter_macro_daemon_name=ORIGINATING #smtps inet n - - - - smtpd # -o smtpd_tls_wrappermode=yes # -o smtpd_sasl_auth_enable=yes # -o smtpd_client_restrictions=permit_sasl_authenticated,reject # -o milter_macro_daemon_name=ORIGINATING #628 inet n - - - - qmqpd pickup fifo n - - 60 1 pickup cleanup unix n - - - 0 cleanup qmgr fifo n - n 300 1 qmgr #qmgr fifo n - - 300 1 oqmgr tlsmgr unix - - - 1000?   • Running 'sudo' over SSH

    - by Wesho
I'm writing a script which is to log onto a bunch of remote machines and run a command on them. I've set up keys so the user running the script does not have to type the password of each machine, but only type in the passphrase in the beginning of the script. The problem is that the command on the remote machines requires sudo to run. And at the same time the whole point of the script is to rid the user of having to type in passwords multiple times. Is there way to avoid typing in the password for sudo? Changing permissions of the command on the remote machines is not an option.

  • Cyrus: How Do I Configure saslauthd For Authentication?

    - by Nick
I'm trying to get Cyrus IMAP (v 2.2 on Ubuntu 9.04) setup and working, but I'm having a bit of trouble getting the login working correctly. I've created a mailbox for my test user "nrahl": cm user/nrahl and then created a password: $ saslpasswd2 nrahl I'm attempting to connect to the mailbox using Thunderbird. I'm using the machine's LAN IP address as the host, and "nrahl" as the username. It connects to the server and prompts me for the password. When I enter it, I get "Login to server failed." in Thunderbird, and /var/log/mail.log shows: Apr 15 19:20:01 IMAP cyrus/imap[1930]: accepted connection Apr 15 19:20:09 IMAP cyrus/imap[1930]: badlogin: [192.168.5.21] plaintext nrahl SASL(-13): authentication failure: checkpass failed Part of /etc/imapd.conf with comments removed: sieveusehomedir: false sievedir: /var/spool/sieve #mailnotifier: zephyr #sievenotifier: zephyr #dracinterval: 0 #drachost: localhost hashimapspool: true allowplaintext: yes sasl_mech_list: PLAIN #allowapop: no #sasl_maximum_layer: 256 #loginrealms: example.com #virtdomains: userid #defaultdomain: sasl_pwcheck_method: saslauthd #sasl_auxprop_plugin: sasldb sasl_auto_transition: no UPDATE: When setting: sasl_pwcheck_method: alwaystrue in /etc/imapd.conf, login works correctly. • Subversion problem, repo has moved

Hi, I've set up subversion on a CentOS fresh install. Web view works fine and gives no errors and requests password but when I try and access it through svn client (xcode) it gives the error 175011 (Repository has been moved). I've tried some of the solutions out there but no success. My subversion.conf: <Location /repos> DAV svn SVNParentPath /var/www/html/repos # Limit write permission to list of valid users. # Require SSL connection for password protection. SSLRequireSSL AuthType Basic AuthName "Authorization Realm" AuthUserFile /etc/svn-auth-conf Require valid-user </Location> My Apache DocumentRoot: /var/www/html I've only set up one svn repository so far so there shouldn't be any conflicts there. If you need any more info let me know. Thanks

When I enter it, I get "Login to server failed." in Thunderbird, and /var/log/mail.log shows: Apr 15 19:20:01 IMAP cyrus/imap[1930]: accepted connection Apr 15 19:20:09 IMAP cyrus/imap[1930]: badlogin: [192.168.5.21] plaintext nrahl SASL(-13): authentication failure: checkpass failed Part of /etc/imapd.conf with comments removed: sieveusehomedir: false sievedir: /var/spool/sieve #mailnotifier: zephyr #sievenotifier: zephyr #dracinterval: 0 #drachost: localhost hashimapspool: true allowplaintext: yes sasl_mech_list: PLAIN #allowapop: no #sasl_maximum_layer: 256 #loginrealms: example.com #virtdomains: userid #defaultdomain: sasl_pwcheck_method: saslauthd #sasl_auxprop_plugin: sasldb sasl_auto_transition: no

  • How can I monitor network traffic in an all Mac home network?

    - by raiglstorfer
I have an all Mac network consisting of an Airport Extreme, 1 MacPro, 1 Mac Mini, 2 MackBook Pros, 2 iPads, and 2 iPhones. The Mac Pro is connected directly to the Airport Extreme via Cat5 and the rest is all running via Wireless. Lately I've been getting prompted by Google to enter Capchas frequently. The message states that I might have software running on my network I'm not aware of. My wireless router is password protected using WPA2 Personal and I frequently change my password so I don't think someone is using the network from outside (but I've no way to confirm this). I'm looking for a relatively cheap (preferably open source) solution that would enable me to monitor and profile the network usage by machine and port. Can someone recommend a solution?

  • Can't connect to exchange thru my smart phone

    - by Hoorayo
We just moved Exchange server from our company to Local data center. Everything is working except mobile access. There is no problem with receiving and sending email from outlook of my laptop, but I can’t connect to exchange server from my smart phone to receive email. While I am setting up exchange account for my phone(Google) , it recognizes when I put wrong password. But it says “Unable to open connection to server” with right password and ID. Is there any option for IP address for this service when I move my server to different location? Please, help me out for any clue.

  • forwarding port 3306 on macosx in order to connect to a remote mysql db

    - by Jonathan Mayhak
I'm on macosx 10.6.2 trying to connect to ubuntu server 8.04.1 at linode. ssh -L 127.0.0.1:3306:[[remote ip]]:3306 user@server -N I want to set up ssh tunneling so that I can access a remote mysql server. First of all, I'm told bind: Address already in use. This is only after I've tried the command before. How do I manually close a port forwarding session? Second, when I change the command to be ssh -L 127.0.0.1:3310:[[remote ip]]:3306 user@server -N (I changed the local port to listen on). I'm told channel 1: open failed: connect failed: Connection refused when I try to connect to the mysql server via mysql workbench or sequel pro. To connect through mysql workbench I use the following settings: host: 127.0.0.1 port: 3310 (if 3306 is in use) username: mysql username password: mysql password database: I don't put anything in

  • Using schtasks in interactive mode

    - by CFP
Hello! I'd like to create a scheduled task from the command line, in interactive mode. The at hh:mm /interactive program command fails, stating that security policies do not allow interactive execution. I'd therefore like to use the schtasks command. But when I type something like schtasks /Create /TN MyTask /SC DAILY /ST "13:10" /TR "notepad.exe" /V1 /F I get a message asking for my password, although I haven't set a password for my session. And when I leave the field blank, the command line answers that the task won't be able to run. How can I fix this problem? And how can I make the task interactive? Using /RU SYSTEM prevents the task from being run in interactive mode. Thanks! CFP.

  • How to make sure that grub does use menu.lst?

    - by Glen S. Dalton
    On my Ubuntu 9.04 ("Karmic") laptop I suspect grub does not use the /boot/grub/menu.lst file. What happens on boot is that I see a blank screen and nothing happens. When I press ESC I see a boot list which is different from what I would expect from the menu.lst file. The menu lines are different and when I choose the first entry it does not use the kernel options that are in the first entry in menu.lst. Where do the entries that grub uses come from? How can I find out what happens, is there a log? I could not find anything in /var/log/syslog or /var/log/dmesg about grub using a menu.lst. How can I set it to work like expected? Some Files: $ sudo ls -la /boot/grub/*lst -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1558 2009-12-12 15:25 /boot/grub/command.lst -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 121 2009-12-12 15:25 /boot/grub/fs.lst -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 272 2009-12-12 15:25 /boot/grub/handler.lst -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4576 2010-03-19 11:26 /boot/grub/menu.lst -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1657 2009-12-12 15:25 /boot/grub/moddep.lst -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 62 2009-12-12 15:25 /boot/grub/partmap.lst -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 22 2009-12-12 15:25 /boot/grub/parttool.lst $ sudo ls -la /vm* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 30 2009-12-12 16:15 /vmlinuz -> boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31-16-generic lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 30 2009-12-12 14:07 /vmlinuz.old -> boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31-14-generic $ sudo ls -la /init* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 33 2009-12-12 16:15 /initrd.img -> boot/initrd.img-2.6.31-16-generic lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 33 2009-12-12 14:07 /initrd.img.old -> boot/initrd.img-2.6.31-14-generic The only menu.lst that I found: $ sudo find / -name "menu.lst" /boot/grub/menu.lst $ sudo cat /boot/grub/menu.lst # menu.lst - See: grub(8), info grub, update-grub(8) # grub-install(8), grub-floppy(8), # grub-md5-crypt, /usr/share/doc/grub # and /usr/share/doc/grub-doc/. ## default num # Set the default entry to the entry number NUM.   • BlueCoat reverse proxy NTLM authentication

    - by mathieu
Currently when we want to access an internal site from Internet (IIS with NTLM auth), we have two login screens that appear : step1 : LDAPAuth, from the BlueCoat that check login/password validity against Active Directory step2 : NTLM auth, from our application. Is it possible to configure the reverse proxy to use the LDAP credentials provided at step1, and give them to whatever application that requests them ? Of course, if those credentials aren't valid, nothing happens. We're using BlueCoat SG400. Update : we're not looking for SSO where the user doesn't have to enter a password. We want the user to enter his domain credentials in the LDAPAuth dialog box, and the proxy to reuse it to authenticate against our application. Or any application that uses NTLM. We've only got 1 AD domain behind the reverse proxy.

  • LDAP installed, running, but can't connect remotely [Ubuntu 10.10]

    - by Casey Jordan
Hi all, I installed LDAP on my ubuntu 10.10 system, using the tutorial found here: https://help.ubuntu.com/10.10/serverguide/C/openldap-server.html Everything seems to be working well, when logged into the server via ssh I can run commands like: > ldapsearch -xLLL -b "dc=easydita,dc=com" uid=john sn givenName cn dn: uid=john,ou=people,dc=easydita,dc=com sn: Doe givenName: John cn: John Doe So I think that's a good sign that things are working well. However I have had zero luck connecting to the server remotely via GUI tools or command line. I have tied JXplorer, and LDAP administration tool. Running commands like this: > ldapsearch -xLLL -W -H ldap://ice.rit.edu -d1 "dc=easydita,dc=com" ldap_url_parse_ext(ldap://ice.rit.edu) ldap_create ldap_url_parse_ext(ldap://ice.rit.edu:389/??base) Enter LDAP Password: ldap_sasl_bind ldap_send_initial_request ldap_new_connection 1 1 0 ldap_int_open_connection ldap_connect_to_host: TCP ice.rit.edu:389 ldap_new_socket: 3 ldap_prepare_socket: 3 ldap_connect_to_host: Trying 127.0.0.1:389 ldap_pvt_connect: fd: 3 tm: -1 async: 0 ldap_open_defconn: successful ldap_send_server_request ber_scanf fmt ({it) ber: ber_scanf fmt ({i) ber: ber_flush2: 34 bytes to sd 3 ldap_result ld 0xb8940170 msgid 1 wait4msg ld 0xb8940170 msgid 1 (infinite timeout) wait4msg continue ld 0xb8940170 msgid 1 all 1 ** ld 0xb8940170 Connections: * host: ice.rit.edu port: 389 (default) refcnt: 2 status: Connected last used: Thu Mar 17 19:42:29 2011 ** ld 0xb8940170 Outstanding Requests: * msgid 1, origid 1, status InProgress outstanding referrals 0, parent count 0 ld 0xb8940170 request count 1 (abandoned 0) ** ld 0xb8940170 Response Queue: Empty ld 0xb8940170 response count 0 ldap_chkResponseList ld 0xb8940170 msgid 1 all 1 ldap_chkResponseList returns ld 0xb8940170 NULL ldap_int_select read1msg: ld 0xb8940170 msgid 1 all 1 ber_get_next ber_get_next: tag 0x30 len 16 contents: read1msg: ld 0xb8940170 msgid 1 message type bind ber_scanf fmt ({eAA) ber: read1msg: ld 0xb8940170 0 new referrals read1msg: mark request completed, ld 0xb8940170 msgid 1 request done: ld 0xb8940170 msgid 1 res_errno: 49, res_error: <>, res_matched: <> ldap_free_request (origid 1, msgid 1) ldap_parse_result ber_scanf fmt ({iAA) ber: ber_scanf fmt (}) ber: ldap_msgfree ldap_err2string ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49) I am pretty sure that I set up the admin password correctly, but the tutorial was not very specific about that. • Cannot access Windows 7 share from Windows XP

    - by artfulrobot
I have a new Windows 7 machine named PAP44 in the PAP workgroup. The networking is set to "Work" mode for the wired LAN. I have a couple of users and I've shared a folder and set it so both users can read/write. Confusingly for me, rather than sharing just that folder (as I'm used to with older versions of Windows) it appears to be sharing a path (\\pap44\users\...\myFolder) From another machine on the LAN, running XP, when I go to \\PAP44\Users I'm asked for a username and password, but neither of the usernames+passwords work. It just jumps back to the username and password dialogue, except that the username I entered gets prefixed with PAP44\ My end goal is to get my Debian/Ubuntu machines to be able to access this share, but first of all I thought I'd try to get it working in Windows, after all, that's supposed to be easy! Is there another step? (PS. I am not a "hit and run" case!)

  • pam_exec.so PAM module does not export variable PAM_USER as stated in the documentation

    - by davidparks21
I'm trying to use the pam_exec.so PAM module to execute a script which needs to know the username/password coming from the application (OpenVPN in this case). I have a script that executes printenv >>afile, but I don't see all the environment variables that the man pages states that pam_exec.so exports (namely PAM_USER I think), I only see the following: PAM_SERVICE=openvpn PAM_TYPE=auth PWD=/usr/local/openvpn/bin SHLVL=1 A__z="*SHLVL I do successfully pick up the password off of STDIN and output it with this same script. But for the life of me I can't get the username. Any thoughts on what I should try next?
