• Rails: form input type and getting the filename

  Hi, As I am using Ruby on Rails to build an application, which only runs locally, I am lost in the woods (a nuby without a compass). I have a simple MVC application and my view is missing one thing I could really use. I want to select a local file just to retrieve it's filename. I know it's relatively easy to use the form tag helpers for uploading: <%= file_field 'upload', 'datafile' %></p> I wonder how I could get the filename from the selected file, without uploading the file.

  Hi, I need to transform an anchor tag to WordML without using relationships. Is it possible? I found the w: anchor property but seems it refers only to internal document anchors and not to links or URLs. <w:hyperlink w:anchor="chapter3"> <w:r> <w:t>Go to Chapter Three</w:t> </w:r> </w:hyperlink> So it would be great if something similar would be possible to do without making an Id in relationship document and than referring this id from w:hyperlink. Anyone knows something like that?

  I tried to find the answer in other questions but actually nothing worked -.- Somehow I hate JavaScript ... Anyway!   Hi, I have a system for the users to be able to post comments. The comments are grasped into a textarea. My problem is to format the comments with br tag to replace \n In fact, i could do something like that s.gsub(/\n/, '<br />') But the xss protection including in rails escapes br tags. So i could do this s.gsub(/\n/, '<br />').html_safe But then, all the tags are accepted even script.... causing a big security problem So my question is : how to format text with br safely ?   I am new to iphone development.I am parsing a You tube rss feed to display its content in the table view. While retrieving the content of link tag, i am able to retrieve only half of the url and the string after & cannot be retrieved. I want to retrieve the full url so that i can use the url to load in a webview. How can i retrieve the full url ? Please help me out.The parsing is done same as Lazy tables . How should the expression look like if I want to localise it? I can make the property accessible as an attribute of the control's tag, but I prefer the mark-up above, it looks more elegant and clean.   I have this code in my gwt client side: String out = result.getConsoleOutput().replaceAll("\n", "<br/>"); transOut.getElement().setInnerText(out); Basically what comes out of consoleoutput() is text from a telnet client and transOut is a HTMLPanel in a UiBinder. I want it to show up pretty so I tried to change all the \n to html , but when it shows up in firefox it looks like this on screen blah blahblah blah.... I am guessing gwt escapes the text somewhere how can I get it to write the real tag.

• Issues with Firefox 3.6 & SWFObject 2.2

  I've searched the net for a solution but still haven't found one yet. I'm on Mac OSX and I use FlashBuilder. I try to publish a movie with the values of 100% for the width & the height. These are the values I use both in SWFObject and the CSS. Flash doesn't display in Firefox but displays on Opera, Chrome & Safari. SWFObject test suite displays fine though! I've tried to replicate the test suite settings but it doesn't work :( The only way I can get the movie to display in Firefox is by setting the height value to a fixed pixel size in the flash content div, which defeats the purpose of using percentage values in the first place :) I've tried most recommendations such as putting the script in the head tag as well as a few others but nothing works except setting a fixed height size in the CSS. Help would be most appreciated! ;)

• Can any JavaScript library perform as well as the Cut The Rope JavaScript implementation?

  Now that the canvas tag is starting to get hardware execration [acceleration - thanks guys!] by many browsers, developing casual games in HTML5 is becoming more feasible. ZeptoLabs did a great job porting Cut The Rope to HTML5 for use as a Windows 8 Metro App. You can find some of the details here but they do not get into specifics. I was wondering if anyone knew if they used a library (such as Impact or Crafty) or if you need to write all custom and optimized JavaScript code in order to get this type of performance. Thanks!

• Consuming WCF REST service in multiple ways (.Net, plain XML)

  I have become quite frustrated of WCF as I just want to use this simple scenario: Provide a webservice using REST, with a UriTemplate like /method/{param1}/{param2}/ and a 3th parameter that is sent to the service as XML as POST data. Use just plain XML, no SOAP overhead. Be able to generate a proxy in Visual Studio so a .Net using client can easily use the service (don't care about SOAP overhead here). I can create 1. and 2. but no way I can use 3. I tried adding both webHttpBinding and basicHttpBinding endpoints in my services config; I fooled around with the <services/> tag, but I just can't get this working. What am I missing here?! N.B. I checked out this article: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/186631/rest-soap-endpoints-for-a-wcf-service but nothing what is described there seems to work here?!

• Nokogiri Not Parsing File

  I'm using Nokogiri to parse pepXML files from different peptide search engines. I have two pepXML files, both of which appear, inasmuch as I can tell, to be of correct format, and puts Nokogiri::XML(IO.read(file)) will output the whole XML file for both files. The problem is, doc.xpath("any valid xpath") will parse the tag from one of the files, but not the other. No errors are given, so I have no idea why it won't parse. Anyone know of any reasons why Nokogiri wouldn't parse something out?

  I cannot figure out how to get rid of errors that basically should not be halting my compile in VS 2010 and should not be show stoppers, or at least I will fix them later but I don't want the compile to just error and halt on these kinds of problems. • Emacs on Windows for C++ development configuration?

  Has anyone set up cygwin and some emacs to work well under a 64-bit Windows 7? I tried downloading cygwin recently, and by default not even dired works reliably, there are odd shell prompt characters, I get a lot of warnings, in one case C-c was read as C-g and caused various errors. (Neither xemacs nor emacs worked for me, where by "work" I mean that dired and shell work, and without warnings). I just want the usual emacs development tools: gdb-mode, shell-mode, compiling, tag-search to work as normal. I was hoping someone who has done this recently with cygwin could share whatever relevant shell files, emacs files, environment variables, and so on to make this all work. Should all these things just work out of the box?

  I did some digging in Android code, and saw the use of in the indeterminate progress bar. after trying to create my own drawable with this tag: <animated-rotate xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:drawable="@drawable/spinner_pia" android:pivotX="50%" android:pivotY="50%" android:framesCount="12" android:frameDuration="100" /> I get an error: "No resource identifier found for attribute 'frameDuration' in package 'android'" - which means that frameDuration is a private attribute. Is there a way to use this "animate-rotate" feature? My task is to replace the system's default indeterminate progress bar. I'd like to do it with as little code as possible (just change few attributes if possible). Using the ProgressBar view, setting: android:indeterminateOnly="true" android:indeterminateBehavior="cycle" android:indeterminateDuration="3500" android:indeterminateDrawable="@drawable/pia_sivuvator" and point "@drawable/pia_sivuvator" to that object would've make my task as elegant as they come but I'm stuck on those private attributes. help?

  Hello all, I have a small WordPress site. I do a lot of audio work and I'm trying to post HTML5 audio clips in blog entries on WordPress. For some reason it isn't working. It might have something to do with the style I'm using on my WordPress site but I haven't been able to nail it down. I know my audio tags are valid, as they work elsewhere.   How do I make an image appear on the top of a page and not showing up in the listing post of my upcoming website: www.xternalit.co.uk? Example: when i type: abcdefg then "more option" then below "more option", id have an image. When the user click on "read more" they will see "abcdefg the an image. I dont want that. I want when they click on "read more" they would see the image first and then "abcdefg". Is this possible with a plugin or tweaking of my template? Cheers! • modx revo snippet variable in query

  I noticed something weird when using a query in a snippet. When I have a query like this: $sql = 'SELECT * FROM table WHERE colomn = ' . $variable; And I echo $sql, the query reads: SELECT * FROM table WHERE colomn = <code class="php plain">2</code> .. wich will result in an error because the sql is no longer valid. So for now I use strip_tags to remove the code tag, but I find it not a very clean method. I couldnt find anything about this, so maybe someone can shed some light on this for me?
