  • How can I distinguish between overlapping segments of text using HTML / jQuery?

    Easy question, it is valid to have overlapping spans in html? Example: <span id="1">This is <span id="2"> some text </span> some other text </span> ^ ^ End1 End2 Edit: I see now that the spans closing tag would be ambiguous about which one it is closing, and that first </span> would close span id = 2, not 1 like I intended. My problem is, I have a block of text which I'm trying to highlight based on what the mouse hovers over. This block of text is composed of sections, some of which "overlap" eachother. I'm trying to use some jQuery and HTML to present this document so when I hover over the sections, the appropriate one will be highlighted. So, in my example above, the first span is meant to be ended with the first span close tag, and the second span is meant to be ended to with the second span close tag. This is because of the semantics of my document, these are two overlapping segments. I want it so when I hover to the left, it will only highlight up to span id = 1 and the first span close, if I hover between the two "overlapping" spans, it will highlight both of them, and if I hover to the right, it will highlight from span id=2 to the last span close. However, I'm starting to think this isn't possible. Is there any way I can distinguish segments of text in HTML that allows overlapping? So my jQuery script that highlights when I hover over different spans will highlight the correct portions. Should I alternate between div's and spans? Would that disambiguate what I'm closing then and allow me the do the proper highlighting with my jQuery hover script? I'm wondering about more than 2 segments overlapping now. Sigh, I wish I could just be explicate about what I'm closing.

    I don't have any background in programming and this is my first shot. I wrote a Delphi program that is supposed to print on a result sheet. I work in an institute and we have to establish hundreds of result sheets every 2 months. It's really difficult to do that and different handwriting is also an important issue. MyPrinter.EndDoc();//End Printing end; end; I can't get the right coordinates to print properly. Am I missing something? How can I set the right coordinates? You know TPrinter uses pixels to get the coordinates but papers are measured in inches or centimeters. I'm really confused. I appreciate any help.

  • Scrollbar with Sprite and Rectangle won't move text, just the Rectangle it's painted on.

    Warning: school assignment. For those of you still with me, I am tasked with making some scrollable content in Flash. Load in a TextFile using LoadURL(), then display it. To get the text, we've written our own class TextFieldExtended, which is basically just there to give the textfile location to the constructor and then have the class do the various steps of getting it and loading it for you. So I needed to get a Scrollbar, which I got here: http://kirupa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=245468 (all files in a zip linked at the end of this text) The thing is, it works with Sprites. After trying to get it to accept TextFieldExtended, I bumped into a block, since the scrollbar relied heavily on a Sprite property that TextFieldExtended didn't have or could have. So I tried adding the TextFieldExtended instance to a Sprite instance using addchild. A problem occurs here that I do not know how to handle. It seems that a Rectangle is drawn and the Text is drawn on that. I say this because the scrollbar moves the Rectangle up and down a bit, but the text doesn't scroll, just the Rectangle it is positioned in and the text then moves along with it. My question: can this be fixed, or is does this implementation of scrollbars need a lot of adaptations before this is possible?   • How do I hide the text on a label in Obj-C?

    I'm using label of a button to send a value into a function. However, I want the button to be invisible. I have the background color turned of in IB, and the text color is also set to nothing, but the text still shows up on the button. Is there another way to have a clear button that sends a value when it's clicked? If I could just turn off / hide the text on the stock UIButton that would be perfect... Thanks, Doug

    I have some JPEG images that I need scale down to about 80% of original size. Original image dimension are about 700px × 1000px. Images contain some computer generated text and possibly some graphics (similar to what you would find in corporate word documents). How to scale image so that the text is as legible as possible? Currently we are scaling the imaeg down using bicubic interpolation, but that makes the text blurry and foggy.

  • InvalidCastException when getting Text from a Label referenced by dynamicaly built String, Fix?

    NET Version: 3.5 Ok, I recieve an error (System.InvalidCastException was unhandled. Message="Unable to cast object of type 'System.Windows.Forms.Control[]' to type 'System.Windows.Forms.Label'.") when trying to get Text from a Label referenced by a dynamicly built string. Here's my situation; I have an array of 250 labels named l1 - l250. What I want to do is loop through them using this while statement: int c = 1; while (c < 251) { string k = "l" + c.ToString(); //dynamic name of Control(Label) object ka = Controls.Find(k, true); string ct = ((Label)ka).Text; //<<Error Occurs Here build = build + ct; c++; } and get the text value of each to build a string named build. I don't get any build errors, just this while debuging. While debuging I can go down to view my local variables. When looking through these, I can view the contents of object ka; it does contain the correct Text value of the correct Label I want to "access". I just don't understand how to get there. The text value is listed under "[0]" which is the only subcatagory for "ka".

However, if the user hits i need the cursor to stay in that text box, and start a new line (uh....like word would)....but currently it is jumping to the next control (text box). What I'm looking for is just the right to left thing, without all the Arabic support. Is there any out there? Basically, typing typing "HELLO" should yield "OLLEH" exactly. Individual characters should not be reversed.

    an Hi, I have an UITextField in one view, UITextField A in View A. And I have another in view B, UITextField B in View B. I use a Navigation Controller Bar to switch between the views. The UITextFields are properties and connected Outlets of both views A and B. On my view A there is an "Options"-button which pushes view B. So when you are typing in Textfield A, I would like the same text to appear in Textfield B. When you edit TextField B and you go back to view A (via the "Title View A"-button in de navigation bar), I would like the same text to re-appear in Textfield A. I expected this to be easy. But I can't get it working. I tried: ViewBController *controller = [[ViewBController alloc] initWithNibName:@"ViewBController" bundle:nil]; controller.TextFieldA.text = TextFieldB.text But nothing appeared in view B. And how do I get back? I dont want to use NSUserdefaults because I would have to remove the values also.

The full justify option won't work because I don't want anything in the middle of the lines.
