  • jQuery UI Datepicker and Google Chrome not working

    Hi, I'm having some problems with jQueryUI Datepicker and Google Chrome. My datepicker is working as expected with IE8, Firefox and Safari. The problem is when clicking the datepicker connected textbox in Chrome. It gives me a crash page, "Oops, an error occurred...". On my page there's textbox with a datepicker. The datepicker is language dependent and it loads the correct language settings dynamically. The datepicker should also display the month and year dropdowns. The code is as follows $(function() {$.datepicker.setDefaults($.extend({ changeMonth: true, changeYear: true }, $.datepicker.regional['']));$('#<%= TextBoxBirthDate.ClientID %').datepicker($.datepicker.regional[$('#LabelRegionalSettings').val()]);}); If I only extend the datepicker with one option, i.e. changeYear, it works in Chrome. But if I add another option, i.e. changeMonth, the 'crash' in Chrome occurs. Is my code incorrect? If so, how do I fix it? Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Why is Dispatcher.Invoke not triggering UI update?

    I am trying to reuse a UserControl and also borrow some logic that keeps track of progress. I'll try and simplify things. MyWindow.xaml includes a MyUserControl. MyUserControl has its own progress indicator (Formatting in progress..., Copying files..., etc.) and I'd like to mirror this progress somewhere in the MyWindow form. But, the user control has some logic I don't quite understand. I've read and read but I still don't understand the Dispatcher. Here's a summary of the logic in the user control that updates the progress. this.Dispatcher.Invoke(DispatcherPriority.Input, (Action)(() => { DAProgressIndicator = InfiniteProgress.AddNewInstanceToControl(StatusGrid, new SolidColorBrush(new Color() { A = 170, R = 128, G = 128, B = 128 }), string.Empty); DAProgressIndicator.Message = MediaCardAdminRes.ActivatingCard; ActivateInProgress = true; })); I thought I'd be smart and add an event to MyUserControl that would be called in the ActivateInProgress property set logic. public bool ActivateInProgress { get { return _activateInProgress; } set { _activateInProgress = value; if (ActivateInProgressHandler != null) { ActivateInProgressHandler(value); } } } I'm setting the ActivateInProgressHandler within the MyWindow constructor to the following method that sets the view model property that is used for the window's own progress indicator. private void SetActivation(bool activateInProgress) { viewModel.ActivationInProgress = activateInProgress; } However, the window's progress indicator never changes. So, I'm convinced that the Dispatcher.Invoke is doing something that I don't understand. If I put a message box inside the SetActivation method, the thread blocks and the window's progress indicator is updated. I understand basic threads but this whole Dispatcher thing is new to me. What am I missing?

    I wish to create a custom helper based on the element being dragged. I'm dragging documents and I'd like the document's number to be part of the custom helper. I know how to create a helper during init like this: helper: function() { return $("<div class='fax16'></div>"); } But what I really want to do is maybe in response to the start event get access to the element being dragged and use some of its properties to set the helper.     Using AspProviders (TableStorageMembershipProvider etc) from Microsoft WCF Azure Samples. It is WCF Service Web Role, and in Azure Storage Explorer I can see Membership, Roles and Session tables appearing nicely when I try to connect. But is there any exisiting code to manage Membership and Roles? Some ASPX pages I guess, something like this for plain old ASP.NET, but more modern and Azure-tested hopefully? Thanks, Andres

Or any other Jquery doesn't seem to work as its in any of the tabs DIVs. Any ideas?

  • Horizontal "tab"ish scroll between views

    I'm interested in creating a horizontal scroll view that "snaps" to the viewed item, so only one item is ever shown at a time. The user can touch-drag left/right and will see previous/next views, switching to it if there's enough velocity. This interaction is exactly like what the new weather/news widget that comes with the Nexus One does for navigating between its "tabs". Are there any existing view widgets that do this? Update: found a copy of the news/weather widget (GenieWidget) and they seem to have implemented their own widget to accomplish this which they call com.google.android.apps.genie.geniewidget.ui.FlingableLinearLayout which is part of their own custom com.google.android.apps.genie.geniewidget.ui.TabView. As that source isn't available, that's not looking too hopeful a direction.

  • Search multiple datepicker on same grid

    I'm using multiple datepicker on same grid and I face the problem to get a proper result. I used 3 datepicker in 1 grid. Only the first datepicker (Order Date)is able to output proper result while the other 2 datepicker (Start Date & End Date) are not able to generate proper result.     Hi, I bind a command to a button through command property and doing a command binding in the page it is placed. In execute method I create an instance of a class that contains the background worker and I start it (this is a long task). The background worker (bw) class contains a variable isRunning that it is set to true before DoWork method is executed and to false when RunWorkerCompleted is executed. So from the code behind of the page where button is placed, in CanExecute method I set e.canExecute to true if bw is no running (isRunning = false), and e.canExecute to false if isRunning = true. WHen I press the button, it launch bw process for a long time and the button gets disabled. Ok this is correct, but when background worker (bw) finishes, the button doesn't returns to enabled until I press it again. When it is disabled and I press (when bw is finished) it gets enabled.   • Web Safe Area (optimal resolution) for web app design

    I'm in the process of designing a new web app and I'm wondering for what 'web safe area' should I optimize the app layout and design. I did some investigation and thinking on my own but wanted to share this to see what the general opinion is. Here is what I found: Optimal Display Resolution: w3schools web stats seems to be the most referenced source (however they state that these are results from their site and is biased towards tech savvy users) http://www.w3counter.com/globalstats.php (aggregate data from something like 15,000 different sites that use their tracking services) StatCounter Global Stats Display Resolution (Stats are based on aggregate data collected by StatCounter on a sample exceeding 15 billion pageviews per month collected from across the StatCounter network of more than 3 million websites) NetMarketShare Screen Resolutions (marketshare.hitslink.com) (a web analytics consulting firm, they get data from browsers of site visitors to their on-demand network of live stats customers. The data is compiled from approximately 160 million visitors per month) Display Resolution Summary: There is a bit of variation between the above sources but in general as of Jan 2011 looks like 1024x768 is about 20%, while ~85% have a higher resolution of at least 1280x768 (1280x800 is the most common of these with 15-20% of total web, depending on the source; 1280x1024 and 1366x768 follow behind with 9-14% of the share). My guess would be that the higher resolution values will be even more common if we filter on North America, and even higher if we filter on N.American corporate users (unfortunately I couldn't find any free geographically filtered statistics). Another point to note is that the 1024x768 desktop user population is likely lower than the aforementioned 20%, seeing as the iPad (1024x768 native display) is likely propping up those number. My recommendation would be to optimize around the 1280x768 constraint (*note: 1280x768 is actually a relatively rare resolution, but I think it's a valid constraint range considering that 1366x768 is relatively common and 1280 is the most common horizontal resolution). Browser + OS Constraints: To further add to the constraints we have to subtract the space taken up by the browser (assuming IE, which is the most space consuming) and the OS (assuming WinXP-Win7): Win7 has the biggest taskbar footprint at a height of 40px (XP's and Vista's is 30px) The default IE8 view uses up 25px at the bottom of the screen with the status bar and a further 120px at the top of the screen with the windows title bar and the browser UI (assuming the default 'favorites' toolbar is present, it would instead be 91px without the favorites toolbar). Assuming no scrollbar, we also loose a total of 4px horizontally for the window outline. This means that we are left with 583px of vertical space and 1276px of horizontal. In other words, a Web Safe Area of 1276 x 583 Is this a correct line of thinking? I tried to Google some design best practices but most still talk about designing around 1024x768 which seems to be quickly disappearing. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

    I have been meaning to make use of design pattern in PHP, such as the observer pattern, but that I have to recreate the observers' relationship each time the page is loaded pains me. As references are saved as a new concrete objects in session, there is no way to preserve relationships between subscribers and their observers unless you use a GUID or some other properties to form a lookup, and store that property instead. With the cost of recreating the relationships each time a page is loaded, is it worthwhile to use design patterns such as observers in PHP, compared to having a clean design? Any real-world experience to share?
