    In the course of trying to figure out whether it's possible to contain text within the boundaries of a rectangle using RaphaelJS (and without doing what would seem to be a lot of work), I came across this question (and its answer) which intrigued me. I haven't seen--either before or since reading the answer--any indication that Raphael can do anything like this. My sense, therefore, is that it's a glib answer, but the concept is compelling and I'm just breaking into some Raphael work, so I thought it was worth shining the spotlight on that answer and asking for any clarification someone may be able to give.     How can I find out where an alias is defined on my system? I am referring to the kind of alias that is used within a Terminal session launched from Mac OS X (10.6.3). For example, if I enter the alias command with no parameters at a Terminal command prompt, I get a list of aliases that I have set, for example, this is one of them alias mysql='/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql' However, I have searched all over my system using Spotlight and mdfind in various startup files and so far can not find where this alias has been defined ( I did it a long time ago and didn't write down where I assigned the alias).

  • iPhone "slide to unlock" animation

    Any ideas as to how Apple implemented the "slide to unlock" (also, "slide to power off" is another identical example) animation? I thought about some sort of animating mask - but masking is not available on the iPhone OS for performance reasons. Is there some private API effect (like SuckEffect) that they might have used? A spotlight type of effect? Some Core Animation thing? Edit: It's definitely not a series of stills. I've seen examples of being edit a plist value or something and customize the string on jailbroken iphones.

    Hi all, I have found that user can associate help with his application using Help Viewer. Users typically launch Help Viewer by choosing the application help item from the Help menu, or by typing a query in the Spotlight For Help text field in the Help menu. I have some different requirement: I want to associate component specific help to my application, means that there will be a small '?' marked icon at bottom left corner of a window and when user clicks it, appropriate help page will open. This case is similar to 'print' panels where there is a small '?' icon. Can anyone suggest me some way to accomplish it, if it is possible? Thanks, Miraaj

  • Symbolicating iPhone App Crash Reports

    I'm looking to try and symbolicate my iPhone app's crash reports. I retrieved the crash reports from iTunes Connect. I have the application binary that I submitted to the App Store and I have the dSYM file that was generated as part of the build. I have all of these files together inside a single directory that is indexed by spotlight. What now? I have tried invoking: symbolicatecrash crashreport.crash myApp.app.dSYM and it just outputs the same text that is in the crash report to start with, not symbolicated. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

  • Best build dir location to use in Xcode

    I'm consolidating my Xcode/TextMate setup and is interested in where you put your build dir. Some years ago I started out having the build dir in the same dir as my xcodeproj file. However it became a mess when my project became a multi project with a applications and frameworks and tests, so I started using ../build as the build dir, so that all the sub projects used the same dir. However Spotlight is indexing this build dir and TextMate's global find is unusable when there is a build dir in the project. I'm thinking either using ~/.build or /build as Xcode's build dir. What build dir do you use and why?

  • Are VMWare ESXi 5 patches cumulative?

    It seems basic, but there's confusion about the patching strategy needed to manually update standalone VMWare ESXi hosts. The VMWare vSphere blog attempts to explain this, but it's still not clear. From the blog: Say Patch01 includes updates for the following VIBs: "esxi-base", "driver10" and "driver 44". And then later Patch02 comes out with updates to "esxi-base", "driver20" and "driver 44". P2 is cumulative in that the "esxi-base" and "driver44" VIBs will include the updates in Patch01. However, it's important to note that Patch02 not include the "driver 10" VIB as that module was not updated. Many of my ESXi installations are standalone and do not make use of Update Manager. It is possible to update an individual host using the patches make available through the VMWare patch download portal. The process is quite simple, and that part makes sense. The bigger issue is determining what to actually download and install. In my case, I have a good number of HP-specific ESXi builds that incorporate sensors and management for HP ProLiant hardware. Let's say that those servers start at ESXi build #474610 from 9/2011. Looking at the patch portal screenshot below, there is a patch for ESXi update01, build #623860. There are also patches for builds #653509 and #702118. Coming from the old version of ESXi, what is the proper approach to bring the system fully up-to-date? Which patches are cumulative and which need to be applied sequentially? Perhaps the download size is the confusing factor, but is installing the newest build the right approach, or do I need to step back and patch incrementally?
