  • JQUERY AJAX, Issues with spaces being sent to the server, Why?

    I'm using the following code to post to the server which is then sent to a MYSQL query to find matches via search. $.ajax({ url: '/search/spotlight/', data: "q=" + $(this).val(), success: function(data) { } }); When Q's val has spaces in it, it's creating problems. I'm wondering if I'm handling this correctly? Do I need to encode the value in the AJAX call? Or is this a problem on my backend, which is ColdFusion Right now JQUERY is posting the following to the server: /search/spotlight/?q=FirstName%20LastName is this right?

  • Silverlight "Out of browser application" vs. "Install from page"

    I’ve been working on integrating some controls which call in to COM classes in to a Silverlight client. Since my controls use COM, they only work out of browser. The client does have out of browser installation options turned on, and when I launch the client from visual studio, I can right click it, and install it to the desktop. That all seems to be working fine. The strange part though is that my controls don’t work when they’re out of browser – I get an error that the COM server can’t be started. The stranger part is that if I go in to the clientproperties, and set the Start Action from “Dynamically generate a test page” to “Out of browser application”, my controls work fine, and I get no COM errors. So I guess I don’t understand the difference between installing the application to the desktop through the right click menu and setting the application to start as an out of browser application. Any idea what's going on here?

  • Empty R environment becomes large file when saved

    I'm getting behaviour I don't understand when saving environments. The code below demonstrates the problem. I would have expected the two files (far-too-big.RData, and right-size.RData) to be the same size, and also very small because the environments they contain are empty. In fact, far-too-big.R ends up the same size as bigfile.RData. I get the same results using 2.14.1 and 2.15.2, both on WinXP 5.1 SP3. Can anyone explain why this is happening?     I want to insert equations into Word 2010. I'm inserting the center-aligned equations and then want to add a number to the same line, which will be aligned to the right hand side of the page. I'm having a problem with setting the alignment of the number to the right with equation aligned to center. I want it so that people can click on the left or right image in each cell, and something different happens based on the cell number. It's a little above my array manipulation skills.     Hey guys, I'm trying to write some jQuery that will toggle DIVs open and closed, and it's working, but I want an arrow that will change to "down" if the DIV is expanded, and "right" if the DIV is collapsed. One action, for example createChildNode creates child node, which in turn creates MyObject2. MyObject2 must be created with assistance of MyOject1, which was created in parent node(that one where I right click for actions ). How to get that object from selected node?   • Querying results on timestamp in mysql

    Hi, I have series of records in a table called 'hits' and each record has the current_timestamp (ie. 2010-04-30 10:11:30) in a column called 'current_time'. What I would like to do is query these records and return only the records from the current month. I cannot seem to get this to work. I have tried a range of queries that don't work such as - Select * FROM hits WHERE MONTH(FROM_UNIXTIME(current_time)) = 4 I don't know if I am even on the right lines!   • OpenGL ES perspective projection

    I'm having a hard time understanding how glFrustum & gluPerspective work. I understand the concept of perspective projection but the functions aren't behaving how I expect them to. For example, if I set the frustum this way glFrustumf(0, 10, 0, 10, 1, 100) and have a rectangle at points 0, 0, 1, 0, 10, 1, 10, 10, 1, 10, 0, 1 then the rectangle is drawn with its left edge at -5 & right edge at 5, so the left half of the rectangle isn't visible. And if x is translated, I'd expect y to be too. But that doesn't happen either. In whatever examples I've seen, the coordinates for the projection matrix are taken as glFrustumf(-10, 10, -10, 10, 1, 100) but either way, whatever part is shown should be dependent on the rectangle's coordinates, right?

  • Conversion of Single to two UInt16 values in .net

    In the good old days of C. I could cast a float to an int (assuming 32 bit system), do some bit manipluation ( bitwise and, right shift, ect ), and get the upper and lower 16 bit hex representations of the floating point number, which I could then store in two short values. I'm not seeing an easy way of doing this in C#. System.Convert.ToUInt16 just does a float to int convert (even after I shift right), which leaves a vlaue of 0 if the float is less than 0, which is not the desired effect. //useless leaves me witg a value 0f 0 UIN16 s1 = (UInt16)((System.Convert.ToUInt32(d2) & 0xffff0000) >> 16); //capture the high word UInt16 s2 = (UInt16)(System.Convert.ToUInt32(d2) & 0xffff); //capture the low word A basic cast (UInt32) doesn't work either.

  • Prevent Apache from answering invalid requests

    I have an Apache web-server that acts as a web front-end for iPhone and iPad applications that communicate by POST and JSON only. Is there any way to prevent Apache from answering requests that are invalid? I can see my error log is filled with attempts to open files such as /admin.php /index.php etc - files that don't exist on my server. I believe this is possible with IIS, but can you do the same thing with Apache? Basically I want the request to appear timed out unless you post exactly the right content to the right file - or at least if you do not request an existing file. This would make the server appear non-existing to everyone but my iPhone users as all communication is SSL and directories are not really guess-able. I did disable the ServerTokens and all that, but I still get File not found etc. when I access the server requesting a random file, which is what these bots do constantly.

But if I select multiple files and then right click and open with my program then it opens multiple instances of my program, instead of just passing the multiple files as arguments to a single instance. The program is written in vb.net but is not a windows form, it is just a module, so I can to tick the Single instance option in the properties in Visual Studio. So how do I open multiple files from explorer context menu in a single instance.

  • How do I swap triangle icons when doing expanding/collapsing divs with Javascript/CSS

    I have a div that I want to toggle between displaying or not when a user clicks on a piece of text. I have a javascript function that toggles a div on or off. That works fine. What I don't know how to do is to have a triangle that points to the right or down depending on whether the div is open. My HTML looks like this: <a onclick="toggleDiv('myDiv');">Click here to expand or close div</a> <div id="myDiv" style="display:none"> ... </div> How do I add one of those triangles and have it point the right way, ideally with just HTML, Javascript, and CSS? The triangle would appear to the left of the "Click here..." string. Thanks.

  • iPhone SDK: Keep an image from scrolling with a UIScrollView

    Hi, I've been searching all over for an easy way to do this. Right now I have a UIScrollView setup as my main view. There's an Image on the left and a column of TextFields on the right. When any TextField is tapped, the keyboard comes up and hides the bottom TextField. So I have the ScrollView move up to unhide the bottom TextField. Question #1: Is there a way to have it respond to a specific TextField instead of all of them? Question #2: Is there a way to keep the Image on the left static so it doesn't move with the TextFields?   • C++: Delete a struct?

    I have a struct that contains pointers: struct foo { char* f; int* d; wchar* m; } I have a vector of shared pointers to these structs: vector<shared_ptr<foo>> vec; vec is allocated on the stack. When it passes out of scope at the end of the method, its destructor will be called. (Right?) That will in turn call the destructor of each element in the vector. (Right?) Does calling delete foo delete just the pointers such as foo.f, or does it actually free the memory from the heap?
