• How Can I Add a New Command to a Control's Event

  Hi, thanks for taking a look at this question. I have been building an application (VB/WPF) following Josh Smith's example of an MVVM pattern: Click here to view My Views have Controls which trigger a Command upon an event, such as a button click and these are bound to properties in the ViewModel. My ViewModel exposes properties of type ICommand which invoke the appropriate methods. This has worked well, until now! I now want to use a Thumb Control to allow a user to move an object within a Canvas. I don't believe that the Thumb has a Command capability 'out of the box'. A Thumb raises a 'DragDelta' event when being moved. So my question is as follows: How do I extend a Control's capability to issue a Command upon an event please? I wish to issue a new Command, let's say 'onDragDelta' so that I can bind it to a property in my ViewModel just like my Buttons. Thank you very much

  I'm trying to databind to this ItemsControl: <ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Nodes, Mode=TwoWay, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}"> <ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <Canvas /> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> </ItemsControl> By using this DataTemplate, I'm trying to individually position my Node elements correctly: <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type Model:EndNode}"> <Controls:EndNodeControl Canvas.Left="{Binding Path=XPos}" Canvas.Top="{Binding Path=YPos}" /> </DataTemplate> However, it's not working as expected. All my node elements are drawn on top of each other in the same position. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

  I am using jabber bot written in python to log some MUC talks. Sometimes it drops on some network or XMPP problems. In this case I have to start it again by myself. The goal is to make it "self-respawning". I have some variants about how to do it. Bot is one process. Another process monitors its activity and starts it if bot died. Main process spawns bot subprocess and controls it. Also I think daemonizing bot process is useful here. Platform is Linux, as you could guess. What is the right way to solve this problem?

  Hello, I'm using winforms of .NET & C#. I'm developing a medical software. I need to implement "Patient History". When doctor enters the PatientID. All the previous appointment dates will be displayed in a side panel. These entries will dynamically fetched from the database. Interface will be more or less similar to Histroy in web browser. Except that I'm not going to use tree control and categorize entries into 'today' 'yesterday' 'older than 7 days' 'last week' etc.. What controls do I need to use. I'm not clear about this. If you have any better idea. Please mention.

• GDI fast scroll

  Hi! I use GDI to create some custom textwidget. I draw directly to the screen, unbuffered. now i'd like to implement some fast scrolling, that simply pixelshifts the respective part of the framebuffer (and only redraws the newly visible lines). I noticed that for example the rich text controls does it like this. If i use some GDI drawing functions to directly draw to the framebuffer, over a rich text control, and then scroll the rich text, it will also scroll my drawing along with the text. so i assume the rich text simply pixelshifts it's part of the framebuffer. I'd like to do the same, but don't know how to do so. Can someone help? (independant of programming language)) thanks!

• Trouble with using ActiveX control in .net windows application

  C#, visual studio 2005 I have several 3rd party activeX control. I need to use them in my .net windows application. These controls are graphical. I created a wrapper with aximp.exe for them. But it seems that something wrong. When I call some methods of wrapped activeX control == targetinvocativeexception occured. Or visual studio writes "you are attempting to write or read protected memory". I know that something wrong. But what is exactly wrong - i don't know. I find out about method CreateControl() or STAthread attribute. but it doesn't help me. What is the common problem and common solution for my type of problem ? These activex control from big and trusted company, other developers work with them.

• dynamically created datagridview columns not accessible unless added to a form...why?

  We simply created a DataGridView control dynamically and bound it to a DataTable. We were tying to style certain columns. But, when we tried to access the columns we got a null reference. On further investigation we found that if we add the DataGridView control to the main form, and then try to access its columns, it works fine!!! Code which throws error: DataGridView gv = new DataGridView(); gv.DataSource = GetDataTable(); //binding it to datatable Debug.Assert(gv.Columns == null); Code which works fine: DataGridView gv = new DataGridView(); gv.DataSource = GetDataTable(); //binding it to datatable this.Controls.Add(gv); //adding to form Debug.Assert(gv.Columns == null); //the assertion fails! Why is this behaviour so? Is there a workaround for this?

  I am trying to insert a user control dynamically into my default.aspx page via the following method in the page_init: Dim control As UserControl = LoadControl("~\Modules\Content.ascx") Controls.Add(control) When I run the page there is no sign of the usercontrol. Am I using the correct code to insert the usercontrol? Is there an alternative method of insertion available? Does the fact that the usercontrol has a page_load make a difference? Do I need to register the control in my aspx page at design time? Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer.

• Difference in DLL when compiling on Build Server instead of Dev Machine.

  I have an application that loads user controls into .NET web application. When I compile and test the application locally on my dev machine it works on my machine. The project builds successfully using MSBuild on our build server. However when I deploy the dll generated by MSBuild on the build server I get the following error when the application loads the control: BC30456: 'CreateResourceBasedLiteralControl' is not a member of 'ASP.usercontrols_somecontrol_ascx'. I took a look and compared the dll generated on my machine and compared it(looked at the file size) with the one created by the build server and noticed a difference in the file size. This is confusing considering the code being built locally and on the build server is IDENTICAL. I manually compared each file by hand. So my question is: What is causing this error? What would be different between MSBuild's compilation of the code and what is going on in Visual Studio when compiling the code?

• What is the best method for implementing mouse wheel activity in Delphi VCL forms?

  As a long time user of Delphi 7, I've rolled my own mouse wheel handling in a few controls but lately I've noticed that some recent applications only need the mouse cursor to be placed over a control (e.g a list box or tree view) for the mouse wheel activity to cause that control to scroll. This feels nice (as opposed to having to click focus a control before it responds to the wheel. Now I've moved to Delphi 2010 I'm wondering what is the 'correct' behavior? And what can I use in Delphi that avoids me having to bodge this with my own solutions now? Thanks.

Maybe I could invalidate each time the Parent in the OnPaint, but if this is not a good solution if the parent has a time consuming repaint logic or I have a lot of my custom component moving at the same time. How do I properly repaint the component?

Our first plan is to move the code into code behinds per file, then refactor etc... were doing this to upgrade the client to the latest version of their cms At the moment we are going to have to manually copy and paste from hundreds of files, create a code behind, copy the code, add the namespaces based on the client-side imports and then do any tidying up does anybody PLEASE know of a tool that can do the majority of this work for us ?   I have a problem with performance of my code under Windows Forms. Have a form, her layout is depending on constructor data, because he layout must be OnLoad or in Constructor generated. I generation is simple, base FlowLayoutPanel have other FlowLayoutPanels, for each have a Label and TextBox with DataBinding. Problem is this is VERY SLOW, up to 20 seconds, i drawing less than 100 controls, from Performace Session i know a problem is on 70% procesing functions: System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlCollection.Add(class System.Windows.Forms.Control) System.Windows.Forms.ControlBindingsCollection.Add(class System.Windows.Forms.Binding) How i can do with this? • Repeater ItemDataBound Complete Trigger

  Hi I have a Repeater and I am doing various things during the ItemDataBound event. My Repeater is in a control. What I am noticing is that the things that are supposed to happen in the ItemDataBound event happen after the Page_Load of the page hosting the control. Is there a way to use some sort of ItemDataBoundComplete trigger so I can do other things on my page after the events of the ItemDataBound have taken place? [Edit] I have controls that are being bound to the ItemDataBound and they are not available until after the Page_Load for the page hosting the control. • Recommendation for serial communications in Access 2007

  I need to communicate with a bar code scanner connected over a serial port in Microsoft Access. In older versions of Access I was able to use a wrapper around MSCOMM32.ocx that no longer seems to work. I can't use wedge communication because I need to use ACK/NACK which is only supported through the RS232 interface and I need to send messages to the scanner, which is also only supported through the RS232 interface. Are there any controls in widespread use that support serial communication in Access 2007? EDIT: In case anyone comes across this, the newest version of MSCOMM32.ocx (I believe dated 3/09) still works fine as of this writing. It is older versions of MSCOMM32.ocx that do not work.

• How do I get all values from a listbox that are not selected in ASP.NET MVC

  Hello, I have a form that (amongst other things) contains 2 multi-select listboxes. Basically you can add items to the one on the right from the full list of items on the left using some add/remove buttons. The problem is that I cannot see a way of picking up the contents of the listbox when posting back to the controller. I have followed this example: http://ittecture.wordpress.com/2009/04/30/tip-of-the-day-198-asp-net-mvc-listbox-controls/ This works fine if you have actually selected the items in the listbox before posting.   I have Window that has a ListBox ListBox(MyListBox) has a DataTable for its DataContext ListBox's ItemSource is : {Binding} Listbox has a UserControl(MyUserControl) as DataTemplate UserControl has RadioButtons and TextBoxes (At first They're filled with values from DataTable and then user can change them) Window has one Submit Button What I want to do is, when user clicks the submit button For each ListBox Item, get the values form UserControl's TextBoxes and RadioButtons. I was using that method for this job : foreach(var element in MyListBox.Items) { var border = MyListBox.ItemContainerGenerator.ContainerFromItem(element)as FrameworkElement; MyUserControl currentControl = VisualTreeHelper.GetChild(VisualTreeHelper.GetChild(VisualTreeHelper.GetChild(myBorder,0) as Border,0)as ContentPresenter,0)as MyUserControl; //And use currentControl } I realised nothing when using 3-5 items in Listbox. But when I used much more items, I saw that "var border" gets "null" after some elements looped in foreach function.   I want to create a GUI driven application for a micro-controller (Atmel XMEGA) that is connected to a 128x64 dots graphics LCD (EA DOGL128-6) and 4 buttons for navigation. Controlling the display itself (e.g. drawing pixels and characters) is no problem but in order to prevent me from reinventing the wheel I was googling for a GUI-Library/-Toolkit that is written in c, includes its source code, will run on a 32 MHz 8-bit micro-controller and provides at least the following controls: panel (to group elements) menu (scrollable) icon label button line-graph (optional) But I didn't find any thing useful. Does anyone know (or better uses) such a library(preferably for free)?

• How to close a window (unload a NIB)?

  I have a custom NSWindowController subclass that loads a NIB file during initialization like this: self = [super initWithNibNamed:@"myNib"]; if (self != nil) { [self window]; } The nib contains some custom views and some other controls. The NSWindowController is the file's owner and at least one of the views even binds to it. Simply, what do I have to do to close and release that window? I spend the whole day trying to figure that out and I am still clueless. Please help me.
