  I am creating a form designer. It will generate PHP code which will produce an HTML form. Users will fill in fields and the PHP will store user input in a MySql database (and, of course, they can use the designer to generate forms which query the database). I am using Borland C++ Builder (very similar to Delphi & and you can get the same idea from VB, MSVC, Qt ... any IDE with a RAD GUI designer). Looking at the W3C page http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_forms.asp it seems that the components I can use for my form and retrieve data from are - edit box / TEdit / <input type="text" - memo / TMemo / <input type="textarea" - check box / TCheckBox / <input type="CheckBox" - Combo box / TComboBox / <select ... <option... - Radio group / TRadioGroup / <input type="radio" - Group box / TGroupBox / <fieldset ... <legend ... - Panel / TPanel / <fieldset ... I am unsure whether to allow button / TButton/ input type="button" - other than a single submit button which my form designer program automatically adds to the end of the generated form. But my real question is - did I miss any? It might be nice to have masked edit which only accepts numbers, or maybe some form of "spin control" (TUpDown, or slider + linked read only TEdit), so that the user can click & hold to increment/decrement an integer value. And a calendar component would be nice. Very important: I want to implement it all server-side in PHP, so no client-side JS or Ajax or the likes. If there anything else that I can add to make my generated forms look more impressive in the browser?

• jQuery ajax link, returned data includes a from that wont submit

  Hi everyone, I have a problem with the returned data from a ajax request. Basically when I click on a link it runs a ajax request to load some html into a div, that part is working fine the problem comes when the data has been loaded. Part of the html loaded is a form, this form works fine if I load the page directly but when it is loaded through ajax into the div it wont submit but the rest of the links in the html work fine. • How to efficiently merge a lot of vCard files for the same person?

  I currently have contact information at several places: old PDA's address book mobile phone's phone book (primarily name, phone number) email client's address book (primarily name, email) web mailer's address book (primarily name, email) instant messenger's contact list (primarily name, im, email, birthday) And there are several social or business networking sites on the Internet where contacts provide information about themselves, like LinkedIn or XING. All those sources can export as vCard, but as you might imagine, I get a lot of vCards for the very same contact that way. Are there any tools where I can import them and then merge them (it may ask me which phone number is more current in case of field clashes of course)? Bonus points if it can track which information I have discarded so when I re-export all information from one of the sources I can't import to (networking sites), it won't ask me again if I want to overwrite phone number of person X with the same ancient number... I hope you understand what I try to accomplish, if not just ask :-)

• asp.net mvc client side validation; manually calling validation via javascript for ajax posts

  Under the built in client side validation (Microsoft mvc validation in mvc 2) using data annotations, when you try to submit a form and the fields are invalid, you will get the red validation summary next to the fields and the form will not post. However, I am using jquery form plugin to intercept the submit action on that form and doing the post via ajax. This is causing it to ignore validation; the red text shows up; but the form posts anyways. Is there an easy way to manually call the validation via javascript when I'm submitting the form? I am still kind of a javascript n00b. I tried googling it with no results and looking through the js source code makes my head hurt trying to figure it out. Or would you all recommend that I look in to some other validation framework? I liked the idea of jquery validate; but would like to define my validation requirements only in my viewmodel. Any experiences with xval or anything of the sort?

• BCM 2007 not opening contacts...

  Business Contact Manager for Outlook (2007) is refusing to open contacts. This problem appeared this morning on every machine (Windows XP SP3) on our network. The contact list does populate as normal, and contacts can be printed from the context menu, but the form that displays the contact information does not display, and no error message is thrown. I have turned on logging for BCM in the help menu, but nothing is being generated (or, leastways, I cannot find it anywhere). The SQL services appear to have started as normal. Anyone come across this before I take a deep breath and go with my boss' suggestion of "just reboot the server"? Any other information you need? Thanks.

• Default values for Content Taxonomy fields in Drupal with Hierarchical Select widget

  I'm trying to set the default value for a Content Taxonomy field in a hook_form_alter, but can't pin down the necessary format.   I am trying to get munin to notify me via email. I have configured munin and it reports critical and warning values but no alerts are being sent neither is any script being called. Can you please help me out with this?   I'm having two models: Snippet and SnippetComment. These also have their own controllers, as well as views. In /app/views/snippets/show.html.erb I have a form that starts like this: <% form_for(@new_snippet_comment) do |form| %> SnippetComment belongs to one Snippet, and a Snippet belongs to one User. This activity starts the main activity when the user presses a button (I will call it "Main"). Main can in turn start two activities from the menu. Pressing "back" again brings up "Splash". Nothing strange here. Now comes the strange part: when I am in Main, start Map, and press "back", Main comes up as expected. But pressing "back" again just restarts Main. A second press on "back" is needed to bring me back to Splash! So it seems that starting the Map activity somehow results in Main ending up on the activity stack twice while starting the Form activity does not! Both Form and Map are started like this: startActivity(new Intent(this, MyActivity.class)); I don not catch the back key in any activity. Any clues on what is going on or how to debug this?

• Django formsets: make first required?

  These formsets are exhibiting exactly the opposite behavior that I want. My view is set up like this: def post(request): # TODO: handle vehicle formset VehicleFormSetFactory = formset_factory(VehicleForm, extra=1) if request.POST: vehicles_formset = VehicleFormSetFactory(request.POST) else: vehicles_formset = VehicleFormSetFactory() And my template looks like this: <div id="vehicle_forms"> {{ vehicles_formset.management_form }} {% for form in vehicles_formset.forms %} <h4>Vehicle {{forloop.counter}}</h4> <table> {% include "form.html" %} </table> {% endfor %} </div> That way it initially generates only 1 form, like I want. But I want that one form to be required! When I dynamically add blank forms with JavaScript and vehicles_formset.empty_form all those extra forms are required, which I don't want. From the docs: The formset is smart enough to ignore extra forms that were not changed. This is the behavior the first form is exhibiting (not what I want) but not the behavior that the extra forms are exhibiting (what I do want). Is there some attribute I can can change to at least make one form required?

• Javascript error when attempting to open a modal window in a modal window

  The application is running on a windows server 2003 box using asp.net 2.0 and is an IE specific web app. There is a button that opens a form in an iframe using showModalDialog(...) from a function call located in the javascript. Here is an example of the fucntion: function ShowBusinessHoursSubForm( source ) { var retval = window.showModalDialog("htm/" + locLocaleID + "/SubFormHostFrame.htm", source, "dialogWidth:265px;dialogHeight:261px;help:no;scroll:no;status:no;"); } The host frame is loading an aspx page which contains the actual form that is being used. On the form that is opened there is a button that, when clicked, submits changed to the form. However, if no changed were made before the form was submitted, another modal window pops up stating that there were no changed to the form. This modal window is opened through registration of some javascript in the button click event. Also, depending on what server (we have many servers for testing all with windows server 2003) the error may not occur on another computer either. These computers are running the same software version using the same version of IE with the same settings. I'm inclined to believe that there is some configuration issue somewhere, but with the settings being the same it is hard to tell. I cannot really change how the app works or the technologies used either. Anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing this?

  I have been working my way through Scott Guthrie's excellent post on ASP.NET MVC Beta 1. In it he shows the improvements made to the UpdateModel method and how they improve unit testing. I have recreated a similar project however anytime I run a UnitTest that contains a call to UpdateModel I receive an ArgumentNullException naming the controllerContext parameter.   I have a many-to-many relationship with a link box, and I want to pull those models together into one form so I can update from the same page. I'm really struggling with getting the check_box to even show all the elements of my array - I've scoured the net and been working on this literally all day, and I'm finding it difficult to apply the information I'm reading to my problem. I'm also extremely new to RoR and I've been following a bit of an outdated video tutorial (pre 2.0) so apologies for my code. So far, I've got it to output only one key pair in the array (the last one) - although outside the form, the code used in the tutorial works exactly how it should. Thats of little use though! Host is the model for which the main form is for, and Billing is the outside model that I'm trying to add to the form. • after upgrade to outlook 2013 Contacts have the default picture in reading pane

  I'm using Windows 8 on a domain (using a domain account not a Microsoft account) connecting to Exchange, all my Contacts were outlook contacts with pictures and other data, I could see the picture of the contact in the reading pane and people pane while using Outlook 2010. After the upgrade to Outlook 2013 I can see my outlook contacts but it appears that they are unavailable in the reading pane because all i can see is the default picture (the default picture picture is also visible in the notifications). If I put the mouse over the name of the people while in the reading pane all I can see is the card with the default info (the only data is that the contact is available in the next 8 hours), if i compose a new message and hover the name of the contact i can see the card with all the data (picture, company, etc.). Is this the default behavior in Outlook 2013 if you are in a domain and not connected to any service or there is a way to show the picture of my contacts in every part of outlook?

• Building a formset dynamically

  I initially wrote code to build a form dynamically, based on data from the DB, similar to what I described in my previous SO post. As SO user Daniel Roseman points out, he would use a formset for this, and now I've come to the realization that he must be completely right. :) My approach works, basically, but I can't seem to get validation across the entire form to be working properly (I believe it's possible, but it's getting quite complex, and there has to be a smarter way of doing it = Formsets!). So now my question is: How can I build a formset dynamically? Not in an AJAX way, I want each form's label to be populated with an FK value (team) from the DB. As I have a need for passing parameters to the form, I've used this technique from a previous SO post. With the former approach, my view code is (form code in previous link): def render_form(request): teams = Team.objects.filter(game=game) form_collection = [] for team in teams: f = SuggestionForm(request.POST or None, team=team, user=request.user) form_collection.append(f) Now I want to do something like: def render_form(request): teams = Team.objects.filter(game=game) from django.utils.functional import curry from django.forms.formsets import formset_factory formset = formset_factory(SuggestionForm) for team in teams: formset.form.append(staticmethod(curry(SuggestionForm, request.POST or None, team=team, user=request.user))) But the append bit doesn't work. Once user clicks OK, I want the apple purchase to commence. I was able to implement the single form way by passing in the request.user object in the kwargs. However, with the FormWizard, I cannot figure this out. Am I approaching the problem wrong and is the FormWizard not the proper way to do this? If it is, how can the Form __init__ method access the user object from the HTTP request?

It is a quick add information form, fill out the form and submit it add a new entry into a database and synchronize my a databasle.. This is all done with ajax. The first form submission happens correctly but the second one fails to run the desired ActionListener. The second form is posting to the server though but the saveAction isn't invoke. As you will see, I'm a real beginner with this technologies ... • Help me understand dynamic layouts in Sinatra

  Help me understand this; I'm learning Sinatra (and Rails for that matter, er, and Ruby). Say I'm doing a search app. The search form is laid out in one div, and the results will be laid out in another. The search form is rendered into the div by a previous view (maybe from a login form). I want to process the form params, perform the search, and render the results into the results div. If I have a single "yield" in the layout and render the divs from different views, the results div erases the search div when it renders. If I define the divs in the default layout, then just render the content, obviously the layout will be messed up: there would have to be two "yields" and I don't think Sinatra supports passing blocks in to yields. I tried foca's sinatra-content-for plugin, and that seems closer to what I need. But I can't figure out where to place the "yield_content" statements. If I have this haml in my layout: #search -# search form = yield_content :search #results -# search results = yield_content :results ... this in my search view: - content_for :search do %form{:method => "post"... etc. ... and this in the results view: - content_for :results do %table{:class => 'results'... etc. This sort of works but when I render the results view, the search div is emptied out. I would like to have it remain. Am I doing something wrong? How should I set this up?
