  • Please help to clean up my RoR development environment

    I started RoR development a few months ago, and being new to Mac... Time flies and now I have a lot different ruby versions, rails versions and gems versions located everywhere......And currently I installed rvm and things got even worst, all things messed! And so I started want to clean all things and use rvm again! I want to uninstall all gems, all rails, and all ruby versions, except the system's default one (the very old one born with the mac). Or any other better solutions or suggestions!?   • Python networkx DFS or BFS missing?

    Dear Everyone I am interested in finding a path (not necessarily shortest) in a short amount of time. Dijsktra and AStar in networkx is taking too long. Why is there no DFS or BFS in networkx? I plan to write my own DFS and BFS search (I am leaning more towards BFS because my graph is pretty deep). Is there anything that I can use in networkx's lib to speed me up? Thx

    In my Rails app, I have some functionality that interfaces with the server's OS. I've written a bash script, put it in my lib/ subdirectory, and can run it from my controller. However, some functionality of the script requires superuser privileges. What is the most sane way to run this script securely? It is being passed arguments from a web form, but should only be able to be called by authenticated (and trusted) users.

  • What's the use of Ant's extension-point if/unless attributes?

    When you define an extension-point in an Ant build file you can have it conditional by using the if or unless attribute. On a target the if/unless prevent it's tasks from being run. But an extension-point doesn't have any tasks to conditionally run, so what does the condition do? My thought (which proved to be incorrect in Ant 1.8.0) is it would prevent any tasks that extend the extension-point from being run.     Hi guys, I've got a problem running a batch job on my server, whereas it runs fine from Eclipse on my development workstation. I've got my Spring environment set up using Roo, made an entity, and make a batch that does some work, and test it well on my develompent box. I initialize my context and do the work, but when I run my batch on the server, the context isn't initialized properly.   • Freetype2 failing under WoW64

    I built a tff to D3D texture function using freetype2(2.3.9) to generate grayscale maps from the fonts. it works great under native win32, however, on WoW64 it just explodes (well, FT_Done and FT_Load_Glyph do). from some debugging, it seems to be a problem with HeapFree as called by free from FT_Free. As a secondary question, I would like to render a font using pixel sizes, I came across FT_Set_Pixel_Sizes, but I'm unsure as to whether this stretches the font to fit the size, or bounds it to a size. what I would like to do is render all the glyphs at say 24px (MS Word size here), then turn it into a signed distance field in a 32px area. Update After much fiddling, I got a test app to work, which leads me to think the problems are arising from threading, as my code is running in a secondary thread. I have compiled freetype into a static lib using the multithread DLL, my app uses the multithreaded libs. gonna see if i can set up a multithreaded test. Also updated to 2.4.4, to see if the problem was a known but fixed bug, didn't help however. Update 2 After some more fiddling, it turns out I wasn't using the correct lib for 2.4.4 -.- after fixing that, the test app works 100%, but the main app still crashes when FT_Done_Face is called, still seems to be a crash in the memory heap management of windows. is it possible that there is a bug in freetype2 that makes it blow up under user threads?

    Hi guys, I've run into the following annoying and seemingly incorrect behaviour in the Visual Studio 2008 C++ compiler: Suppose I have a class library - Car.lib - that uses a "Car" class, with a header called "Car.h": class Car { public: void Drive() { Accelerate(); } void Accelerate(); }; What I'm actually trying to do is use the Car headers (for some other functions), but without having to link with Car.lib itself (the actual class is not called "Car" but I am sanitising this example). If I #include "Car.h" in the .cpp file used to build a managed C++ .dll, but never refer to Car, everything compiles and links fine. This is because I never instantiate a Car object. However, the following: namespace { class Car { public: Car(const Car& rhs) { Accelerate(); } void Accelerate(); }; } leaves me with the link error: Error 2 error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: void __thiscall `anonymous namespace'::Car::Accelerate(void)" (?Accelerate@Car@?A0xce3bb5ed@@$$FQAEXXZ) CREObjectWrapper.obj CREObjectBuilderWrapper Note I've declared the whole thing inside an anonymous namespace so there's no way that the Car functions could be exported from the .DLL in any case. Declaring the copy constructor out-of-line makes no difference. i.e. the following also fails to link: class Car { public: Car(const Car& rhs); void Accelerate(); }; Car::Car(const Car& rhs) { Accelerate(); } It's something specifically to do with the copy constructor note, because the following, for example, does link: class Car { public: Car() { Accelerate(); } void Accelerate(); }; I am not a C++ standards guru but this doesn't seem correct to me. Surely the compiler still should not have had to even generate any code that calls the Car copy constructor. Can anyone confirm if this behaviour is correct? It's been a while since I used C++ - but I don't think this used to be an issue with Visual Studio 6.0 for example. Can anyone suggest a workaround that allows one to "re-use" the Accelerate method from within the copy constructor and still have the copy constructor declared inline?

    Hi, I have upgraded my application from grails 1.2.2 to 1.3.1-RC1. While things seem to work when executing grails from command prompt, I cannot make it run from my IDE IntelliJ (last development version). The error I got is: Error executing script RunApp: net/sf/json/JSONException ... Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: net.sf.json.JSONException It seems that the library json-lib.jar is not in the IntelliJ classpath. Do you know how can I solve this?

  • Continuously 'Rendering template' on freemarker+struts2

    I'm using struts2 with freemarker (included in struts2 lib) and i'm trying to speed up my web-app. In the logs continuously appear: UIBean.debug(57) | Rendering template /template/xhtml/a FreemarkerTemplateEngine.debug(57) | Rendering template /template/simple/a.ftl and this for each tag. The problem is that i don't know if it's normal, i just set properties for caching templates: struts.properties: struts.freemarker.templatesCache=true and freemarker.properties: template_update_delay=60000
