• Passenger connection reset by peer issue

  I am new to ruby on rails. I am using passenger 3.0.17 to deploy my ruby 3.2.6 project. My project is working fine but i got 500 internal error when i try to upload files on server. You can avoid this by using mod_rewrite to respond with a redirect when accessed with that specific User-Agent or IP address." Well, obviously I cannot use UserAgent because I minimized the server signature, but I could use IP address. However, I don't have a clue what should the RewriteCond and RewriteRule look for IPv6 address ::1. • Puppet Decentralized Setup

  I want to migrate my existing Puppet setup from master/client to a decentralized solution. I know other solutions, such as Ansible are easier to setup for that purpose, but I really want to stay with Puppet. • Failure to obtain IP with ARP over Wi-Fi with personal Wi-Fi router in client mode

  I'm trying to connect a Samsung TV to the Internet using a TL-MR3020 personal wireless router in client mode. The TV fails to connect to the network. It sees the ethernet cable connected though. Here's my network topology: Here's what I've captured with Wireshark filtering for ARP (eth.type == 0x0806): It appears the TV fails to get the IP of the gateway (DSL modem/router) for some reason. One thing I've noticed is that the source MAC for the ARP requests coming from the TV is the MAC of the Portable wireless router (that is cd:89:00), not the TV itself and the modem sends the responses to that MAC (I'm not an expert and don't know if its okay or it may make the TV fail to get the requested IP). Also I'm able to ping the TV from the DSL router (through the telnet interface) and the router has an entry in its MAC table for the TV's IP with the Portable wireless router's MAC (that is cd:89:00). If I'm able to ping the TV I suppose it should know the router's MAC to respond to the ping, but then why these continuous ARP requests... I've also tried to connect my desktop trough this Portable wireless router the same way I'm trying to connect the TV and it works fine, I can set the DSL Modem's IP as the default gateway on the desktop's NIC and connect to the Internet. The TV can connect to the Internet when connected to the DSL Router with a wired connection. Any suggestions on what may be the cause of the problem / how to further debug it are welcome. Thanks!

• Home Sharing and Remote on iTunes causing firewall nags

  It seems that enabling Home Sharing and/or hooking up my iPhone's Remote to iTunes causes Mac OS X Snow Leopard's firewall to freak out and keep nagging every time I launch iTunes to ask if I'd like it to accept incoming connections. If I turn off Home Sharing and forget all Remotes, the nag dialog no longer comes up. I could also disable the firewall, but I think that's a silly thing to do. iTunes is already in the firewall whitelist, so the only thing I know that could cause Mac OS X to nag is a bad application bundle code signature. I checked with this Terminal command: $ codesign -vvv /Applications/iTunes.app/ And sure enough, this is what it outputs: /Applications/iTunes.app/: a sealed resource is missing or invalid /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/AutofillSettings.nib/objects.xib: resource added /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/iTunesDJSettings.nib/objects.xib: resource added /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/MobilePhonePrefs.nib/objects.xib: resource added /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/MobilePhoneSetup.nib/objects.xib: resource added /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/UniversalAccess.nib/objects.xib: resource added I've tried reinstalling iTunes as suggested by this answer, but Mac OS X still nags about incoming connections and the exact same output is generated when I run the above command again. On my PC, Windows Firewall has never nagged whenever I turn on Home Sharing and hook up Remote on my iPhone. Both computers use iTunes 9.2.1. My Mac runs Mac OS X 10.6.4. Is there anything special I need to do that I might have missed? Or how do I resolve the issue? EDIT: I've updated to iTunes 10, but the nags on my Mac are still there and only go away if I turn off Home Sharing and Remote. EDIT 2: I've updated to Remote 2.0 on my iPhone, but the firewall nags are persisting. Has anyone else had this firewall issue at all?

• Exchange 2010 issuing NDRs to Hotmail/Live & few other domains on receipt of message

  I'm working through a beast of an issue at the moment. Exchange 2010 single server on prem Hybrid deployment to Office 365 ESMTP filtering turned off on ASA Certain domains (most consistently, Hotmail/Live) cannot send us mail. At one point, we couldn't send out either, but I created a new Send Connector that forces HELO instead of EHLO. I turned on SMTP logging, an example of the failed inbound message connection is below. I've read that it could be that reverse DNS is the problem, i.e., the exchange banner smtp address needs to reverse-DNS back to the same IP. Since it's the default exchange connector, its banner is the server's name, but the DNS name of the MX record is different. I'm waiting for the PTR records to update to reflect the internal name as well. Is that the right direction? Is this all DNS or something different? • Router vs switch in a LAN [closed]

  If I have a LAN and and connect it with a switch, I understand it uses a CAM table to route packets in layer 2 (by saving mac to port relations). So far all good. However, when using a router for a LAN (ONLY for a LAN, not to connect it to "the outside" WAN/internet/etc) I get a bit confused as to how it internally processes packets. I would first split this into two router scenarios: Router with buit-in switch In this scenario, I would expect that it will act exactly as a switch with a CAM table internally. This would probably benefit a bit in speed (guessing here?) compared to the next option. Router without built-in switch Here is where I get confused. If hostA wants to send a packet to hostB, it will ARP to find hostB's MAC address and send it there. Now, if we had a switch (above scenario) this would be easy. But how does it work now in a router WITHOUT a switch? If I would guess, hostA would send an Ethernet frame with hostB's MAC address to the line. The router would fetch the packet (even though the router has another MAC address, it would still fetch this packet even if it only contains hostB's MAC address). It would strip the Ethernet frame header and check the IP, and then check its own internal ARP table again for the MAC address. Now, this would seem like a waste of resources compared to a router with a built-in switch. But maybe it does not work like that at all. Does it also contain a CAM table? If that would be true, what would then the difference between these two routers really be?

• Why can't I ping a PC on my home network?

  Whenever I try to ping another box on my home network, it pings the wrong ip address: C:\Users\Papa>ping macmini Pinging macmini.belkin [208.68.143.55] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 208.68.143.55: bytes=32 time=50ms TTL=110 As you can see it always appends belkin to anything I try to ping. So I hit up ipconfig and belkin happens to be Connection-specific DNS Suffix: Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : belkin IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.7 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1 My setup is all DHCP, so I am not sure where belkin is coming from. I looked through all the networking stuff, as you can see below: Bottom line: how do I fix this?

  Hello all, I'm trying to parse some returned html to look for currently playing movies. The pattern I'm trying to match looks like: <span dir=ltr>Clash of the Titans</span> Of which there are several in the returned html. (the html is huge, I've posted a sample at the bottom) I'm trying get an array of the movie titles with the following command: titles = listings_html.split(/(<span dir=ltr>).*(<\/span>)/) But I'm not getting the results I'm expecting. Can anyone see a problem with my approach or regex? • Android Remote Service Keeps Restarting

  Ok so I've built an app that uses a remote service to do some real time GPS tracking. I am using the below code to start and bind to the service. The remote service uses aidl, sets up a notification icon, runs the GPS and locationListener. In onLocationChanged, a handler sends data back to the caller via the callback. Pretty much straight out of the examples and resources online. I want to allow the service to continue running even if the app closes. When the app is restarted, I want the app to again bind to the service (using the existing service if running) and again receive data from the tracker. I currently have the app mode set to singleTask and cannot use singleinstance due to another issue. My problem is that quit often even after the app and service are shut down either from the app itself, or from AdvancedTaskKiller, or a Forceclose, the service will restart and initialize the GPS. touching on the notification will open the app. I again stop the tracking which removes the notification and turns off the GPS Close the app, and again after a few seconds the service restarts. The only way to stop it is to power off the phone. What can I do to stop this from happening. Does it have to do with the mode of operation? START_NOT_STICKY or START_REDELIVER_INTENT? Or do I need to use stopSelf()? My understanding is that if the service is not running when I use bindService() that the service will be created...so do I really need to use start/stopService also? I thought I would need to use it if I want the service to run even after the app is closed. That is why i do not unbind/stop the service in onDestroy(). Is this correct? I've not seen any other info an this, so I,m not sure where to look. Please Help! • R Install/Update on Mac OS X (Snow Leopard): where does R put files during install/config?

  In sum, there's a stray preference-like file or two (probably just one) that i can't find. Here's the whole story: I recently attempted to update my R install from 2.10 to 2.11. As i have done before, i installed from source. I know that all of the dependencies are correctly installed and made available to R, because my prior install worked fine. When i upgraded to 2.11, i am unable to install packages (no exception thrown, it just doesn't appear to complete the install and is unresponsive so i have to quit + restart R. Given i install from source, there are any number of points in the process that i could have messed up. What i need to do now is "start over" which requires that i clear out my my prior install. I am having trouble doing that. There is still at least one preference file or something like that i can't find and one of these is causing the problem, so i need to find it and terminate it with extreme prejudice before i do a fresh install. Although i set a number of flags during the install, i have never opted out of the default install locations during the config step. There has to be one or more preference files still in my file structure (and that's also accessible to the new install of R) because after i follow all of the steps below, then do a fresh install, when i start R for the first time, some of my preferences have persisted (e.g., quartz settings, GUI background color, editor selection, etc.). Again, the problem is that i just cannot locate those files. Finally, the problem can't be that during my last install from source, i inadvertently caused a preference file to be sent to an off-spec location--because again, a fresh R install (whether from source or from the OS X binaries) is finding those files Here's what i've done prior to attempting a clean install of R: Removed files from these locations: ~/.RData ~/.RHistory /Applications/R64.app /Applications/R.app /Library/Frameworks/R.framework (i also removed all symlinks from these) Cleared all RAM and disk caches, in particular the directory where i know R caches: ~/Library/Caches/R* (in fact i've cleared this entire directory) Checked for all 'hidden' files in the OS X directories where login/startup files are often placed: /etc/ ~/ In addition, i've checked R-help, and i've also read through the relevant portions of 'R Installation and Administration'--no luck. I've also searched searched my file structure using the various bash utilities, which nearly always solves problems of this sort quite easily, but in this case obviously searching by name or even pattern is more problematic.

I have tried the latest firefox (3.6) and an older one (3.0.13) and both don't show the file type dropdown on OSX.

Is there any risk of bricking the hardware if I just try? I have a USB JTAG ICE MKii clone, which is supposed to work for this. I'm totally new to AVR, but very experienced with C/C++ programming on Linux or OS X, up to and including kernel programming... so any hint at all would be appreciated, I can read man pages, but only if I know what I'm looking for.

We tried copying the generated apple-script code into the Apple Script editor, and here it works just fine. My App is sandboxed - i have added the bundle identifiers for the key "com.apple.security.temporary-exception.apple-events" for the apps i want to support. Any suggestions?

  Hi All, I'm writing a plugin for an application. I cannot derive from NSApplication as it is a third party application. I can get the callback in my plugin when any key is pressed. But I will not know what key is pressed. So is there any call in Cocoa to find the last key pressed when I get the callback? I only have NSView object. Any ideas will help me a lot. Thanks, Dheeraj.

• What is the correct JNA mapping for UniChar on Mac OS X?

  I have a C struct like this: struct HFSUniStr255 { UInt16 length; UniChar unicode[255]; }; I have mapped this in the expected way: public class HFSUniStr255 extends Structure { public UInt16 length; // UInt16 is just an IntegerType with length 2 for convenience. public /*UniChar*/ char[] unicode = new char[255]; //public /*UniChar*/ byte[] unicode = new byte[255*2]; //public /*UniChar*/ UInt16[] unicode = new UInt16[255]; public HFSUniStr255() { } public HFSUniStr255(Pointer pointer) { super(pointer); } } If I use this version, I get every second character of the string into my char[] ("aits D" for "Macintosh HD".) I am assuming that this is something to do with being on a 64-bit platform and JNA mapping the value to a 32-bit wchar_t but then chopping off the high 16 bits on each wchar_t on copying them back. If I use the byte[] version, I get data which decodes correctly using the UTF-16LE charset. If I use the UInt16[] version, I get the right code point for each character but it is then inconvenient to convert them back into a string. Is there some way I can define my type as char[], and yet have it convert correctly?

• "Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application" running .NET app in virtual XP mac

  I've written a few winform apps in .net 2.0 which won't run in a virtual XP (running from VirtualBox). I get the error "unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application" (.NET Framework Initialization Error). I've tried fixing the installation of .net and also installing v3.5. I think it's probably a security issue rather than a framework problem, but i'm running under an administrator account. Other .net apps (2.0) run ok, so it might be a strong name/signing problem. I've tried compiling them completely unsigned and also delay signing them with a key and turning on verification skipping with the sn tool. help greatly appreciated!
