  • Building Interactive User Interfaces with Microsoft ASP.NET AJAX: Refreshing An UpdatePanel With Jav

    The ASP.NET AJAX UpdatePanel provides a quick and easy way to implement a snappier, AJAX-based user interface in an ASP.NET WebForm. In a nutshell, UpdatePanels allow page developers to refresh selected parts of the page (instead of refreshing the entire page). Typically, an UpdatePanel contains user interface elements that would normally trigger a full page postback - controls like Buttons or DropDownLists that have their AutoPostBack property set to True. Such controls, when placed inside an UpdatePanel, cause a partial page postback to occur. On a partial page postback only the contents of the UpdatePanel are refreshed, avoiding the "flash" of having the entire page reloaded. (For a more in-depth look at the UpdatePanel control, refer back to the Using the UpdatePanel installment in this article series.) Triggering a partial page postback refreshes the contents within an UpdatePanel, but what if you want to refresh an UpdatePanel's contents via JavaScript? Ideally, the UpdatePanel would have a client-side function named something like Refresh that could be called from script to perform a partial page postback and refresh the UpdatePanel. Unfortunately, no such function exists. Instead, you have to write script that triggers a partial page postback for the UpdatePanel you want to refresh.   • How does Blizzard manage to support Mac OS and Windows in their games?

    I've always thought, that using Direct X for Windows was the most powerful, easy and modern method to create games with modern graphics nowdays. And knowing, that it's only Windows I thinks it's pretty difficult to make something similar on other platforms (Mac OS to be exact). But Blizzard somehow managed to deliver Starcraft 2 for Mac OS, and Diablo 3 will be available for Mac too. So what I'm interested in is information about: what technologies are they using for their game engines? are they using one engine for both games (Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3)? Or develop custom for each game? what are they paying in terms of time and money for Mac OS support? Thanks

  • The First Microsoft Dynamics NAV Builds on TFS 2010 Server

    We are now successfully, able build Dynamics NAV solutions using the TFS Build workflow mechanisms. Lots of test builds were made, the builds can restore the NAV Database and start from a fresh solution, take latest of the NAV objects and then import it to Navision and call the compile method. The workflow is also able to generate FOB files as output which can be directly shipped to the customers. I think this is the First in the world implementation of the TFS build concepts in conjunction with NAV. I think this is a time to change the thinking caps and try to approach ERP development and include the practises of ALM into ERP Product Development.

    This is my first blog post for new year 2011 and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the readers for making my blog very successful and accepting me a community member. As year 2010 has lots of up down in IT filed it was recession period and now we almost recovered from it. Personally year 2010 has been very successful to me as I have been awarded as Microsoft Most Valuable Professional for visual C#. And It was one of the greatest achievement of my life. I would like to take this opportunity to thanks Microsoft for this and thanks all friends specially Jacob Sebastian who has given me guidance any time I required it. I have been also awarded dzone most valuable blogger this year and it was a nice surprise from dzone. I would like thanks dzone for this. Once again I am wishing you happy new year and may this year will bring success to all of you. One more thing I have found that I have met lots of people who is quite intelligent and exceptional developers and IT professionals but they are not blogging their stuff.   • Microsoft Excel Error

    I am working with a user that has Office 2007 installed. When they open excel with a blank workbook and then they try to close excel without having done anything, it gets hung for about a minute or two and then gives the warning message: "Microsoft Office Excel is waiting on another application to complete an OLE action." Has anyone ever seen this happen before? If so can you please help me figure out how to resolve this. It doesn't matter what excel file they open or if it is a blank/new workbook. Please Help.
