    I have the following project layout: MVC UI |...CustomerController (ICustomerRepository - how do I instantiate this?) Data Model |...ICustomerRepository DAL (Separate Data access layer, references Data Model to get the IxRepositories) |...CustomerRepository (inherits ICustomerRepository) What's the correct way to say ICustomerRepository repository = new CustomerRepository(); when the Controller has no visibility to the DAL project? Or am I doing this completely wrong?

    I saw that on so many blogs. Lots of the people that were dealing with ASP.NET tend to play with Ruby on Rails after working hours. And It is just a matter of last one or two years. Why is it like that? Is it because when ASP.NET MVC showed up people become more open-minded - having joy with programming again they realize that some other folks had that many years ago, and they do not want to miss what they currently have?

Shall I have only 1 viewmodel of each entity (?) and then have 1 model for each form-modifing viewpage? So that viewmodel contains like all it ever would need, like: PagedFoo FooClass ..., FooClass, Foowithbunnies, FooClassStats... ? /M

    Hi, I have just started looking at JqueryMobile and want to know if the following is possible? I want to be able to select a file (similar to in html) and then show some sort of dialogue that allows me to browse to a "folder" and select the file. It would then be up to me to send some sort of AJAX command to upload it to the server (where I am using Asp.net MVC 2) Since I do not have access to an iPhone or iPad, I was told that I would only have access to the documents folder.     I have a form on my web page, it allows to submit many queries to my website, every query is on a separate line in TextArea. Because waiting for all queries to complete is too long I would like to update the web page after every query completes - send result of one query to a web browser, new result should be appended to old results that are already on the web page.     I have tried many way to install IIS in my Windows 7 Professionnel environment. And I have always an error. I tried with Web Plateform Api - "Fatal Error during installation" With Windows Features in configuration pannel - "An error has occurred. SetAccessToPerfCountersKeys() result=0x80070002 [04/10/2012 16:13:25] < !!FAIL!! Installation failure, result=0x80070002 If I uninstall/reinstall IIS, I have some error but my site run correctly, and after windows restart, the install is rollbacked and I lose my installation. Any help ?

  • IIS is overriding my response content, if i manually set the Response.StatusCode

    Hi Folks, Problem when i manually set the HTTP Status of my Response stream to .. say 404 or 503, IIS renders up the stock IIS content/view, instead of my custom view. When I do this with the Web Development Server (aka. Casinni), it works correctly (ie. my content is displayed and the response.statuscode == my entered data. Is there anyway I can override this behaviour? How To Replicate Make a default ASP.NET MVC1 web app. Add the following route public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes) { routes.IgnoreRoute("{resource}.axd/{*pathInfo}"); routes.MapRoute( "Default", "{*catchall}", new { controller = "Home", action = "Index" } ); } Now replace the the HomeController's Index method with...     We have a number of .NET4 RC ASP.NET MVC2 RTM web applications running on a Windows 2008 R2 server. All behave very well except one that we regularly find running at 99% CPU. It is the most complex of the applications, but is not doing anything extraordinary. It relies on ASP.NET Cache quite heavily, but we have limited the amount of memory it is allowed to use. Does this sound like an issue with the environment? Rich

  • Upgrading MySQL Connector/Net

    I am trying to publish a website with our hosting provider. I am getting error due to the fact that they only allow a medium trust and the MySQL Connector/Net that I am using requires reflection to work. Unfortunately, reflection is not allowed in a medium trust. After some research I found out that the newest version of the MySQL Connector/Net may solve this problem. Connector/Net 6.6 includes enhancements to partial trust support to allow hosting services to deploy applications without installing the Connector/Net library in the GAC. I am thinking that will solve my problem. So, I unistalled MySQL Connector/Net 6.4.4 and I installed MySQL Connector/Net 6.6.4. When I run the application in Visual Studio 2010 I get the error: ProviderIncompatibleException was unhandled by user code The message is An error occurred while getting provider information from the database. This can be caused by Entity Framework using an incorrect connection string. Check the inner exceptions for details and ensure that the connection string is correct. InnerException is The provider did not return a ProviderManifestToken string. Everything works fine when I have Connector/Net 6.4.4 installed. I can access the database and perform Read/Write/Delete action against it. I have a reference to the following in the project: MySql.Data MySql.Data.Entity MySql.Web My connection string in Web.config <connectionStrings> <add name="AESSmartEntities" connectionString="server=ec2-xxx-xx-xxx-xx.compute-1.amazonaws.com; user=root; database=nunya; port=3306; password=xxxxxxx;" providerName="MySql.Data.MySqlClient" /> </connectionStrings> What might I be doing wrong? Do I need any additional setting(s) to work with version 6.6.4 that wasn't required in the older version 6.4.4?

  • unable to display anything other than directory listing

    Okay i have what may seem a really easy to solve problem but i've been trying to solve it for days. I'm trying to deploy a asp.net MVC2 application to a IIS 5.1 server running Windows XP Pro. (it's actually the default MVC2 app) However when i deploy, the only thing i'm able to see is a Directory listing. I tried a lot of stuff but can't get it to display anything other than the directory listing. hopefully i'm just a noob who forgot to add something, thanks for your answer :)

  • Losing Windows Authentication intermittently

    I'm running a website on IIS6 / Server 2003 which uses Integrated Windows Authentication on a local intranet. I can browse to the site but get intermittent "Object null" errors when calling the following C# code which is called on every request: .... GetUserIdFromPrincipal(User) .... public static string GetUserIdFromPrincipal(IPrincipal principal) { return principal.Identity is WindowsIdentity ? (principal.Identity as WindowsIdentity).User.Value : principal.Identity.Name; } (Apologies for the code sample but was torn between SF and SO but think this is more to do with server config). So as the error is intermittent clearly Windows Auth is working on some level but after navigating around the site for several clicks I get the null reference error meaning IPrincipal is null (I thought this should never be null in ASP.NET). The error only happens on this newly built VM. The code is fine on other machines. Does IIS request the Windows Auth details on each request? What would cause such an intermittent problem? Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
