• iPhone SDK - keep data in modal view

  Hi all, I've got a modal view loaded the following way: ModalViewController *modalController = [[ModalViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"ModalViewController" bundle:nil]; searchController.delegate = self; [self.navigationController presentModalViewController:modalController animated:YES]; [modalController release]; When the modal view appears, "viewDidLoad" is called. When I dismiss the modal view via [self.navigationController dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; the method "viewDidUnload" ISN'T called, but the next time I let the modal view appear, "viewDidLoad" is called again. My problem now is that I'm creating an NSArray in the modal view's "viewDidLoad" - and as I'm fetching the data from the web, I would like to do it only once. But this way, it's fetched every time... Any hints how I could achieve that the data is only fetched once? I would really like to do it in the modal view and not in the parent and provide the array as parameter to the modal view... Thanks!

How do I tell StructureMap to construct TenantContext(tenantID); where tenantID is derived from my RouteData or some base controller property? Given the following route: {tenant}/{controller}/{action} My base controller retrieves and stores the correct Tenant based on the {tenant} URL parameter. Using Tenant, a repository with an ITenantContext can be constructed to retrieve only data that is relevant to that tenant. Based on the other DI questions, AbstractFactory could be a solution?solution?

• What's void *userData exactly?

  In a C function declaration, I have seen this parameter definition: void *userData so, what exactly is that? My guess: the void says it can be anything arbitrary, or even nothing. Almost similar to id of objective-c. It just allows to pass in whatever data structure you like. The star in front of userData says, that the argument must be passed in by reference. So when using this stuff in the function body, typically it must be casted and dereferenced. So if I pass in an pointer to SomeClass instance, I would get that like this: SomeClass *myObj = (SomeClass*)userData; In the case I had nothing special to pass along, I would provide NULL as argument. Are my assumptions correct? Or did I get something wrong?

  Hi, I need to display some text in cocos2d layer. I added UITextView to it. I added the text in the text View. But, for setting the font by ( UIFont class), I could not do it. I saw the list of supported fonts for iPhone, In that list Copperplate Gothic Bold is not there. I downloaded it from net. It is working good for CCLabel and CCFontMenuItem. • Problem with "write" function in linux

  I am trying to write 2 server/client programs under Linux, in which they communicate through named pipes. The problem is that sometimes when I try to write from the server into a pipe that doesn't exist anymore (the client has stopped), I get a "Resource temporarily unavailable" error and the server stops completely. I understand that this is caused by using a O_NONBLOCK parameter when opening the fifo chanel, indicating the point where the program would usually wait until it could write again in the file, but is there a way to stop this behavior, and not halt the entire program if a problem occurs (shouldn't the write command return -1 ad the program continue normally)? And another strange thing is that this error only occurs when running the programs outside the ide (eclipse). If I run both programs inside eclipse, on error the write function just returns -1 and the programs continues normally.

• Using switch and enumerations as substitute for named methods

  This pattern pops up a lot. It looks like a very verbose way to move what would otherwise be separate named methods into a single method and then distinguished by a parameter. Is there any good reason to have this pattern over just having two methods Method1() and Method2() ? The real kicker is that this pattern tends to be invoked only with constants at runtime-- i.e. the arguments are all known before compiling is done. public enum Commands { Method1, Method2 } public void ClientCode() { //Always invoked with constants! • exportDocument() 'destination folder does not exist' error

  I'm trying to make a script in photoshop that will modify some layers and than export them as a PNG image. I've copied the following code from another place: function SavePNG(saveFile){ var pngOpts = new ExportOptionsSaveForWeb; pngOpts.format = SaveDocumentType.PNG pngOpts.PNG8 = false; pngOpts.transparency = true; pngOpts.interlaced = true; pngOpts.quality = 100; activeDocument.exportDocument(saveFile,ExportType.SAVEFORWEB,pngOpts); } The function export the active document of photoshop to the file specified by the saveFile parameter. It's working fine with simple paths like 'C:\images\result.png' but when trying with different paths like '~/Desktop/' or paths with some special characters the file isn't exported, and a 'destination folder does not exist' error massage appear. Any idea how can I solve it?

  I have a class Bar: class Bar { public: Bar(void); ~Bar(void); }; And a class Foo that gets a reference to Bar object as a constructor parameter and needs to save it in a private member bar_ : class Foo { private: Bar& bar_; public: Foo(Bar& bar) : bar_(bar) {} ~Foo(void) {} }; This doesn't compile : overloaded member function not found in 'Parser' missing type specifier - int assumed. Note: C++ does not support default-int Now i suspect couple of things that i need to assure, the second error is for Bar& bar_; declaration in Foo. Do i need to use an explicit constructor when declaring bar_ ? I am interested in learning how the compiler works regarding this matter, so a detailed explanation would be highly appreciated.   I have a page that contains several forms, by submitting each one of them, next form becomes visible. the last form contains a recaptcha validator, my problem starts here, if i declare an action result for that page like this [CaptchaValidator] public ActionResult myAction(SomeModel model, string lang) { return View("towing", model); } I'm getting an argument null exeption parameter "Challenge", which in fact means that you have to POST those fields from recaptcha for the validation to appear and I cannot post anyting untill the last for is visible and posted. then I've added a news ActionResult like myActionValidated, defined a route for it like: mypage/validate pointing to that actionresult and then i don't know where to go from here, i want simply do display a message if the reCaptcha did not validate and redirect to a URL if it succeeded. I hope I made myself clear. Thank you in advance

  Hello, I have the following code: NSNumber *number = [NSNumber numberWithInt:5]; int i = [number retainCount]; [number release]; i = [number retainCount]; [number release]; i = [number retainCount]; the problem is that in line 2 , the value of parameter i is 2 and in line 4 the value is 1. then in line 6 the value is still 1.???????? first i dont understand why after init *number the retaincount is 2 and not 1?? second i dont understand why after release it 2 times retaincount is not 0? it doesnt matter how many times i release the object the retaincount stay 1.

So securityGroups is in many-to-many relationship with User table and one-to-many with LookupApplciation (FK) Now I want to select all application linked to a specific user. I have follow criteria: public IList<LookupApplication> GetApplicationByUser(User user) { return this.Session.CreateCriteria(typeof(SecurityGroup), "sg") .CreateAlias("Members", "u") .CreateAlias("Application", "al") .Add(Restrictions.Eq("u.Id", user.Id)) .List<LookupApplication>(); } It trows an exception The value "Edi.Advance.Core.Model.Security.SecurityGroup" is not of type "Edi.Advance.Core.Model.Lookups.LookupApplication" and cannot be used in this generic collection. Parameter name: value and it is right. How can I transform the result to IList<LookupApplication>? Thanks

  We'd like to create a simpler alternative to Excel's CUBEVALUE function for retrieving data from an OLAP server. The details aren't critical, but briefly, our function will "know" the source connection and accept a very simple ticker-like parameter and a date, in place of CUBEVALUE's MDX-style parameters. This is for internal use within our firm, just FYI. However, Excel has optimized CUBEVALUE so that calls to the OLAP server are batched. Question: Is there a way to code the new function so that it can similarly batch calls rather than issue a separate query for each cell?

  Is it possible to configure Hibernate reverse engineering and code generation tool in such a way that one-to-many relation between tables is mapped to entities inheritance instead of enrites relation? I have Person table and Employee table, which are related with the foreign key (Person contains basic information, Employee the rest). In my Java code I would like this relation mapped to inheritance Employee extends Person. This can be done by hand, but maybe I missed some custom configuration parameter that I can use.   I was playing with the Stack Exchange Data Explorer and ran this query: http://odata.stackexchange.com/stackoverflow/q/2828/rising-stars-top-50-users-ordered-on-rep-per-day Notice down in the results, rows 11 and 12 have the same value and so are mis-numbered, even though the row_number() function takes the same order by parameter as the query. I know the correct fix here is to specify an additional tie-breaker column in the order by clauses, but I'm more curious as to why/how the row_number() function returned different results on the same data? If it makes a difference anywhere, this runs on Azure.

  Hi, I'm having some issues trying to make a HTTP PUT (or POST) using WebClient against a MVC 2 controller. The exception is: The parameters dictionary contains a null entry for parameter 'total' of non-nullable type 'System.Int32' for method 'System.Web.Mvc.ActionResult Company(System.Guid, Int32, Int32, System.String)' The controller action is: [HttpPut] public ActionResult Company(Guid uid, int id, int total, string url) The route is: routes.MapRoute( "CompanySet", "job/active/{uid}/company/{id}", new { controller = "Job", action = "Company" } ); As you may see, what I want is to send the 'uid' and 'id' parameters via url, but the 'total' and 'url' parameters as part of the PUT or POST body. I've also tried to merge the latter parameters into a class (i.e., CompanySetMessage), doing it no longer raises an exception but I dont receive the values on the server side. Any ideas? Thank you!

  I need to deal with Affiliate Tracking on our website. In our .htaccess we have: RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} affiliate=(.*) RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1? [NC,R,L,co=AFFID:%1:%{HTTP:Host}:7200:/] Which creates a COOKIE called AFFID with the value of the URL Parameter affiliate. But the Cookie is not for the whole domain, i.e. Going to http://www.domain.com/?affiliate=bmk sets the AFFID cookie with the value bmk for .www.domain.com but I would like ti to be for .domain.com so that it can be used across our secure domain which will be secure.domain.com Any help would be appreciated Cheers

  I have an abstract class Moveable with the method abstract void move() which is extended by the class Bullet and the abstract class Character, and Character is extended by the class Survivor and the class Zombie. In Survivor and Bullet the move() method doesnt require any parameters while in the class Zombie the move() method depends on the actual position of the survivor. The survivor and multiple zombies are created in the class Gui. I wanted to access the survivor in Zombie - what's the best way of doing this? In Gui i wrote a method getSurvivor() but i don't see how to access this method in Zombie? I am aware that as a workaround i could just pass a [Survivor survivor] as parameter in move() and ignore it in Bullet and Survivor, but that feels so ... bad practice.

  hello all, i'm stuck at a point where i am using a wildcard parameter with the FtpWebRequest object as suck FtpWebRequest reqFTP = (FtpWebRequest)FtpWebRequest.Create(new Uri("ftp://" + ftpServerIP + "/" + WildCard)); now this works fine, however i now want to fetch a specific range of files. say the file naming structure is *YYYYMMDD.* and i need to fetch all the files prior to today's date. i've been searching for a wildcard pattern for that with no good results, one that will work in a simple file listing. and it doesn't look like i can use regex here. any thoughts ?
