  • Can I tell sitecrawlers to visit a certain page?

    Hi there! I have this drupal website that revolves around a document database. By design you can only find these documents by searching the site. But I want all the results to be indexed by Googlebot and other crawlers, so I was thinking, what if I make a page that lists all the documents, and then tell the robots to visit the page to index all my documents..? Is this possible, or is there a better way to do it?

  • jQuery: Scroll down page a set increment (in pixels) on click?

    I'm trying to make a page scroll down 150px from the current position when an element is clicked. So lets say you're roughly halfway scrolled down a page. You click this link, and it will slide you down an additional 150 pixels. Is this possible with jQuery? I've been looking at scrollTop and the scrollTo plugin, but I can't seem to connect the dots.

  • Jquery $.post() - Possible to do a full page post request?

    I know I can do an out of band Post request with Jquery and the $.post( syntax. However, I'm interested to know if it is possible for jquery to cause a post request on the whole page (as when a form is submitted) so that a brand new page is loaded. Is this possible? Thanks There is no form element in the DOM, so I can't do form.submit().

    hi, I'm loading from my main page an external js file, with a function. I have a flash file in the main page invoking the javascript function. Everything worked very well until when the javascript code was in the main file, but when I moved javascript to an external file the function seems not called anymore. So... there is no way to move the javascript code to an external file ? Or any other solution ? thanks

    Let's assume you have a big complex index page, that shows news articles and stuff. It's not going to change very often. Can you cache it somehow on the serverside, so requests don't force to server to dynamically generate the entire page every time someone visits it? Or does ASP.NET do this automatically? If so, how does it know if something has changed?

    I am trying to get Opera to re-request a page every time instead of just serving it from the cache. I'm sending the 'Cache-control=no-cache' and 'Pragma: no-cache' response headers but it seems as if Opera is just ignoring these headers. It works fine in other browsers - Chrome, IE, Firefox. How do I stop Opera from caching pages? What I want to be able to do is have Opera re-request a page when the user clicks the Back button on the browser.

    I want to place a player (flash) in the top-right corner of a page and that player will change it songs based on what play button is clicked (they are in the center of the page). Do I have to use ActionScript in order to accomplish that? If I have to, how? I want something like hits: Each time the user clicks one of the 10 buttons the song playing in the player in the top-right should change into the selected song. Thanks in advance!

Why might this be? Am I doing this all wrong anyway?

    Hi there, Which of the following would you say is the best way to go when combining files for CSS: Say I have a master.css file that is used across all pages on my website (page1.aspx, page2.aspx) Page1.aspx - A specific page that has some unique css that is only ever used on that page, so I create a page1.css and it also uses another css grids.css Page2.aspx - Another specific page that is different from all other pages on the site and is different to page1.aspx, I'll name this page2.aspx and make a page2.css this doesn't use grids.css So would you combine the scripts as: Option1: Combine scripts csshandler.axd?d=master.css,page1.css,grids.css when visiting page1 Combine scripts csshandler.axd?d=master.css,page2.css when visiting page2 Benefits: Page specific, rendering quicker since only selectors for that page need to be matched up no unused selectors Drawback: Multiple combinations of master.css + page specific hence master.css has to be downloaded for each page Option2: Combine all scripts whether a page needs them or not csshandler.axd?d=master.css,page1.css,page2.css,grids.css (master, page1 and page2) that way it gets cached as one.   • jsf immediate="true" question regarding binding to session bean

    Hi, I have a listing page that goes to an add page. The add page has a name textbox whose value is bound to a session scoped bean. The listing page has an add button that goes via an action method to the add page. This action method clears the object that the name textbox is bound to. I also have a cancel button on the add page, which is bound to an action method that again clears the value that the name textbox is bound to. If nothing is set to immediate, this all works fine. However, if I set the cancel button to immediate, if I enter values in the name field, and then click cancel, the action method is fired and clears the object in the backing bean and goes to the listing page. If I then click add, the action method clears the object again (ignore if it's best method or not) and then goes to the add page. I would now expect the add page's name textbox to be empty, but it's not?! Surely, since the add button is not immediate, the values should be re-bound and empty? Below is the relevant XHTML for the add button on the listing page <h:commandButton id="addButton" value="Add" action="#{myBean.gotoAdd}"/> Below is the relevant XHTML for the input box on the add page (myBean is session scoped), followed by that of the cancel button on the add page.: <h:inputText id="newName" value="#{myBean.newObject.name}" binding="#{myBean.newNameInput}" styleClass="name" /> <h:commandButton id="cancelButton" value="Cancel" immediate="true" action="#{myBean.cancelAdd}" onclick="return confirm('You sure?');"/>
