    Hello, I am looking for a solution that allows me to deploy multiple load balanced Grails instances that have shared cache (EhCache Server ?) and sessions, is this possible ? I can't find any documentation on this (connecting to a common EhCache server or using Distributed EhCache, and sharing sessions (using EhCache too ?))... I'm looking for something that will work like multiple Rails instances with a common memcached and sessions/caches stored in the memcached... Can you help me ? Thank you !

    Hi there, I'm looking to calculate the total size of all shared folders (except admin shares) on a number of different servers (consolidating all accessed files to a NAS box for easier backup / restore) but am having a bit of trouble finding a solution. Hudson authenticates users against our Windows domain AD, and the project based security matrix makes it easy to manage who can access which projects. Remaining issue is, that most of the projects use git over ssh. Is there a way to make shared Hudson access git so that each project could create their and manage their own jobs without compromising security?

  • should I put the jar dependancies on the shared repo or just the source files ?

    We have a Scala project with few source files (in Scala and Java) and quite some dependencies in various binary formats (jar and DLL). I'm wondering what should go into our shared git repo. Only the source files (developers have to download or somehow resolve the dependencies themselves) or the both the source files and the dependencies? I may add that dependencies are all third parties and available for download for free.

  • Will my shared variables loose value? (asp.net vb)

    I have a class includes.vb that holds some variables (sharing them with other pages) like: Public Shared pageid As Integer = 0 I then have a function that does some work with these variables returning them with values; Return pageid When I step through the code, the variables have values (while stepping through the function), but when they are returned to the page, they come back null. Do they loose value everytime a page is loaded? Can you suggest an alternative method? Thanks a lot.

  • Cant correctly install Lazarus

    I have a little problem with installing and running Lazarus. I just upgrade ubuntu from 13.04 to 13.10. When i had 13.04, i could install lazarus without any problems, but in 13.10 lazarus magicaly dissapeared, and when i tried install it from ubuntu software center, it said something like in my software resources lazarus-ide-0.9.30.4 doesnt exist. After some research on net i tried delete all files from earlier installations, download deb packages from sourceforge and install them, but when i want to instal fpc-src, error shows up with output: (Reading database ... 100% (Reading database ... 239063 files and directories currently installed.)   • WebBrowser Control in ATL window. How to free up memory on window unload? I'm stuck.

    Hello there. I have a Win32 C++ Application. There is the _tWinMain(...) Method with GetMessage(...) in a while loop at the end. Before GetMessage(...) I create the main window with HWND m_MainHwnd = CreateWindowExW(WS_EX_TOOLWINDOW | WS_EX_LAYERED, CAxWindow::GetWndClassName(), _TEXT("http://www.-website-.com"), WS_POPUP, 0, 0, 1024, 768, NULL, NULL, m_Instance, NULL); ShowWindow(m_MainHwnd) If I do not create the main window, my application needs about 150K in memory. But with creating the main window with the WebBrowser Control inside, the memory usage increases to 8500K. But, I want to dynamically unload the main window. My _tWinMain(...) keeps running! Im unloading with DestroyWindow(m_MainHwnd) But the WebBrowser control won't unload and free up it's memory used! Application memory used is still 8500K! I can also get the WebBrowser Instance or with some additional code the WebBrowser HWND IWebBrowser2* m_pWebBrowser2; CAxWindow wnd = (CAxWindow)m_MainHwnd; HRESULT hRet = wnd.QueryControl(IID_IWebBrowser2, (void**)&m_pWebBrowser2); So I tried to free up the memory used by main window and WebBrowser control with (let's say it's experimental): if(m_pWebBrowser2) m_pWebBrowser2->Release(); DestroyWindow(m_hwndWebBrowser); //<-- just analogous OleUninitialize(); No success at all. I also created a wrapper class which creates the main window. I created a pointer and freed it up with delete: Wrapper* wrapper = new Wrapper(); //wrapper creates main window inside and shows it //...do some stuff delete(wrapper); No success. Still 8500K. So please, how can I get rid of the main window and it's WebBrowser control and free up the memory, returning to about 150K. Later I will recreate the window.   • Mercurial confusion - commit / push, backouts

    I'm trying to set up a repository on a shared filesystem. I'm using Mercurial 2.1.2 on a Windows-based architecture. I start with an empty folder on the shared filesystem and create a repository in it. After this, I dump in the baseline files, and add them to versioning, then commit the changes. I then clone the repository to my local hard drive. I then make a change in my local repository, commit it, then push back to the shared filesystem repository. The shared repo graph I get in TortoiseHG looks strange (to me). This is the shared repo: This is the local repo: On the shared repo, the working directory always shows up on the top, then the graph goes 'down' to rev. 0 then back 'up' again through various revisions. It looks to me like I have two different branches, even though everything is on the default branch. Also, that 'top' revision always says "* Working Directory * Not a head revision!" I noticed that in my local repository, I don't get that dangling working directory at the top of the list - everything is in one branch. I also noticed that on my local repository, I can back out the tip revision with no problem. On the shared filesystem repository, I cannot, since I get an error ("Cannot backout change on a different branch"). How can this be? Aren't they supposed to be identical to each other? Am I fundamentally doing something wrong?

    Different SOA Domain Configurations In this blog entry I would like to introduce three different configurations for a SOA environment.  I have omitted load balancers and OTD/OHS as they introduce a whole new round of discussion.  For each possible deployment architecture I have identified some of the advantages. Super Domain This is a single EDG style domain for everything needed for SOA/OSB.   It extends the standard EDG slightly but otherwise assumes a single “super” domain. This is basically the SOA EDG.  I have broken out JMS servers and Coherence servers to improve scalability and reduce dependencies. Key Points Separate JMS allows those servers to be kept up separately from rest of SOA Domain, allowing JMS clients to post messages even if rest of domain is unavailable. JMS servers are only used to host application specific JMS destinations, SOA/OSB JMS destinations remain in relevant SOA/OSB managed servers. Separate Coherence servers allow OSB cache to be offloaded from OSB servers. Use of Coherence by other components as a shared infrastructure data grid service. Coherence cluster may be managed by WLS but more likely run as a standalone Coherence cluster. Benefits Single Administration Point (1 Admin Server) Closely follows EDG with addition of application specific JMS servers and standalone Coherence servers for OSB caching and application specific caches. Coherence grid can be scaled independent of OSB/SOA. JMS queues provide for inter-application communication. Drawbacks Patching is an all or nothing affair. Startup time for SOA may be slow if large number of composites deployed. Multiple Domains This extends the EDG into multiple domains, allowing separate management and update of these domains.  I see this type of configuration quite often with customers, although some don't have OWSM, others don't have separate Coherence etc. SOA & BAM are kept in the same domain as little benefit is obtained by separating them. Key Points Separate JMS allows those servers to be kept up separately from rest of SOA Domain, allowing JMS clients to post messages even if other domains are unavailable. JMS servers are only used to host application specific JMS destinations, SOA/OSB JMS destinations remain in relevant SOA/OSB managed servers. Separate Coherence servers allow OSB cache to be offloaded from OSB servers. Use of Coherence by other components as a shared infrastructure data grid service. Coherence cluster may be managed by WLS but more likely run as a standalone Coherence cluster. Startup time for SOA may be slow if large number of composites deployed. Shared Service Environment This model extends the previous multiple domain arrangement to provide a true shared service environment.This extends the previous model by allowing multiple additional SOA domains and/or other domains to take advantage of the shared services.  Only one non-shared domain is shown, but there could be multiple, allowing groups of applications to share patching independent of other application groups. Key Points Separate JMS allows those servers to be kept up separately from rest of SOA Domain, allowing JMS clients to post messages even if other domains are unavailable. JMS servers are only used to host application specific JMS destinations, SOA/OSB JMS destinations remain in relevant SOA/OSB managed servers. Separate Coherence servers allow OSB cache to be offloaded from OSB servers. Use of Coherence by other components as a shared infrastructure data grid service Coherence cluster may be managed by WLS but more likely run as a standalone Coherence cluster. Shared SOA Domain hosts Human Workflow Tasks BAM Common "utility" composites Single OSB domain provides "Enterprise Service Bus" All domains use same OWSM policy store (MDS-WSM) Benefits Follows EDG but in separate domains and with addition of application specific JMS servers and standalone Coherence servers for OSB caching and application specific caches. Coherence grid can be scaled independent of OSB/SOA. JMS queues provide for inter-application communication. Patch lifecycle of OSB/SOA/JMS are no longer lock stepped. JMS may be kept running independently of other domains allowing applications to insert messages fro later consumption by SOA/OSB. OSB may be kept running independent of other domains, allowing service virtualization to continue independent of other domains availability. All domains use same OWSM policy store (MDS-WSM). Supports large numbers of deployed composites in multiple domains. Single URL for Human Workflow end users. Single URL for BAM end users. Drawbacks Multiple domains to manage and configure. Multiple Admin servers (single view requires use of Grid Control) Multiple Admin servers/WSM clusters waste resources. Additional homes needed to enjoy benefits of separate patching. Cross domain trust needs setting up to simplify cross domain interactions. Human Workflow needs to be specially configured to point to shared services domain. Summary The alternatives in this blog allow for patching to have different impacts, depending on the model chosen.  Each organization must decide the tradeoffs for itself.  One extreme is to go for the shared services model and have one domain per SOA application.  This requires a lot of administration of the multiple domains.  The other extreme is to have a single super domain.  This makes the entire enterprise susceptible to an outage at the same time due to patching or other domain level changes.  Hopefully this blog will help your organization choose the right model for you.

  • JVM throws OutOfMemory during gc though there are plenty memory left...

    I have my java application configured to use 5G memory. I got an OutOfMemory out of blue. I inspected the gc log and found plenty of memory left: young generation occupies 4% allocated space, tenure generation occupancy is 5% and perm generation is 43%. I am puzzled why JVM throws an OutOfMemory at the gc time. Does anyone know why this is happening? Your help is greatly appreciated.   • Move million records from MEMORY table to MYISAM table.

    Hi, I am looking for a fast way to move records from a MEMORY table to MYISAM table. MEMORY table has around 0.5 million records. Both tables have exactly the same structure (same number of columns, data types etc.). But the MYISAM table is indexed (B-TREE) on a few columns. There are around 25 columns most of which are unsigned integers. I have already tried using "INSERT INTO SELECT * FROM " query. But is there any faster way to do this? Appreciate your help. Prashant

If you are still following me so far, you probably know that the new Office Document formats are incompatible with IStorage containers. The application I'm trying to update, relied upon the IPersistStorage interface that all Office applications have, and the code as written calls the load method of IPersistStorage to read in a document from IStorage interface.     I'm creating about 150 nodes programmatically and running into 'out of memory' errors when doing it all in a single request. (I have a menu callback that generates the nodes and calls node_save() on them.) Example: for($i=0; $i<150; $i++) { $node = new stdClass(); $node->title="Foo $i"; $node->field_myfield[0]['value'] = "Bar $i"; ... node_save($node); } I've heard of BatchAPI, but never used it. Is that the right tool to get around this? The docs talk about timeouts, but not memory issues. Is there something simpler that I might be missing?

  • C++ Microsoft SAPI: How to set Windows text-to-speech output to a memory buffer?

    Hi all, I have been trying to figure out how to "speak" a text into a memory buffer using Windows SAPI 5.1 but so far no success, even though it seems it should be quite simple. There is an example of streaming the synthesized speech into a .wav file, but no examples of how to stream it to a memory buffer. In the end I need to have the synthesized speech in a char* array in 16 kHz 16-bit little-endian PCM format. Currently I create a temp .wav file, redirect speech output there, then read it, but it seems to be a rather stupid solution. Anyone knows how to do that? Thanks!

  • Could not see memory being released on closing MFC modal dialog that hosts wpf user control using HW

    This is in continuation with my last question posted "Continuous Memory leak while using WpfHWndSource" I have to load an WPF User Control in an MFC Modal Dialog that is being invoked from the ocx control. For this I have created a MFC Regular Dll(Mixed Mode Regular dll with clr option enabled), I have created a modal dialog which will host wpf user control using HWndSource. This exported dialog is placed as a child Dialog of the above MFC dialog that is being invoked from the ocx. Ny intermediate dialog uses C++/Cli code. When the main MFC dialog is closed, I am deleteing the ptr reference of the intermediate dialog created on the heap. In the the dipose of the .Net User Control, I have set most of the references that I have created to null, unsubscribed to the events (to avoid weak refernces), unbinded from the propertes(by using clear binding). Called delete on the HwndSource and the user control(which basically calls the dispose method). But I do not see complete memory being released. Any help would be greatful.

  • Is there a way to load an icon from a memory file handler?

    I am writing wxWidgets application where I am importing the .ICO file as a header. I am attempting to use a wxMemoryFSHandler to make this icon (and others as well) accessible as files. I am using the following code to do this: wxFileSystem::AddHandler(new wxMemoryFSHandler); wxMemoryFSHandler::AddFileWithMimeType( "app_inactive.ico", CsiWebAdmin_ico, sizeof(CsiWebAdmin_ico), "image/vnd.microsoft.icon"); Unfortunately, if I try to load an icon from this "file" as shown below, it does not work. As I stepped through the MSW source (wx 2.8.10), I can see that the loader never attempted to resolve the virtual file name. wxIcon icon("memory:app_inactive.ico"); I have also tried the following: wxIcon icon(wxIconLocation("memory:app_inactive.ico")); and have encountered the same results. I realise that I can use resources to load these files but I would still face the same dilemma when the time came to port my application to GTK. Is there something obvious that I am missing?
