  • SQL Server 2008 table variable error: Must declare the scalar variable "@RESULT".

    - by Trindaz
I'm using table values for the first time as a parameter to a function in SQL Server 2008. The code below produces this error: Must declare the scalar variable "@RESULT". Why?! I'm declaring it on the first line of the function! ALTER FUNCTION f_Get_Total_Amount_Due( @CUSTOMER_LIST [tpCSFM_CUSTOMER_SET_FOR_MONEY] READONLY ) RETURNS [tpCSFM_CUSTOMER_SET_FOR_MONEY] AS BEGIN --Prepare the return value, start with initial customer list DECLARE @RESULT AS [tpCSFM_CUSTOMER_SET_FOR_MONEY] INSERT INTO @RESULT SELECT * FROM @CUSTOMER_LIST --Todo: populate with real values UPDATE @RESULT SET tpCSAM_MONEY_VALUE = 100 --return total amounts as currency RETURN @RESULT END

  • How to insert a DataTable with existing Key to a SQL Server Table.

    - by user296575
I am working with VB.NET.. i have a DataTable called "QUESTION", containing 3 fields: QuestionNumber (unique integer key) QuestionText QuestionType In my SQL Server database I created a Table called "QUESTION" with the same fields. QuestionNumber is defined as integer unique key, auto increment Now, when i make a bulk copy to insert the DataTable into the SQL Server, the database overwrites my QuestionNumber from the DataTable and generates new ones (starting from 1 increment 1). How do i have to change my database setup, that the original QuestionNumbers are copied into the database?

  • Count times ID appears in a table and return in row.

    - by Tyler
SELECT Boats.id, Boats.date, Boats.section, Boats.raft, river_company.company, river_section.section AS river FROM Boats INNER JOIN river_company ON Boats.raft = river_company.id INNER JOIN river_section ON Boats.section = river_section.id ORDER BY Boats.date DESC, river, river_company.company Returns everything I need. But how would I add a [Photos] table and count how many times Boats.id occurs in it and add that to the returned rows. So if there are 5 photos for boat #17 I want the record for boat #17 to say PhotoCount = 5

  • Can a memory page be moved by modifying the page table?

    - by Adam
Is it possible (on any reasonable OS, preferably Linux) to swap the contents of two memory pages by only modifying the page table and not actually moving any data? The motivation is a dense matrix transpose. If the data were blocked by page size it would be possible to transpose the data within a page (fits in cache) then swap pages to move the blocks into their final place. A large matrix would have many many pages moved, so hopefully flushing the TLB wouldn't cause trouble.

  • How do I rename a table in SQL Server Compact Edition?

    - by romkyns
I've designed my SQL CE tables using the built-in designer in VS2008. I chose the wrong names for a couple. I am now completely stuck trying to find a way to rename them. I am refusing to believe that such a feature could have been "forgotten". How do I rename an existing table using the VS2008 designer, or a free stand-alone app?

  • What do these .NET auto-generated table adapter commands do? e.g. UPDATE/INSERT followed by a SELECT

    - by RickL
I'm working with a legacy application which I'm trying to change so that it can work with SQL CE, whilst it was originally written against SQL Server. The problem I am getting now is that when I try to do dataAdapter.Update, SQL CE complains that it is not expecting the SELECT keyword in the command text. I believe this is because SQL CE does not support batch SELECT statements. The auto-generated table adapter command looks like this... this._adapter.InsertCommand.CommandText = @"INSERT INTO [Table] ([Field1], [Field2]) VALUES (@Value1, @Value2); SELECT Field1, Field2 FROM Table WHERE (Field1 = @Value1)"; What is it doing? It looks like it is inserting new records from the datatable into the database, and then reading that record back from the database into the datatable? What's the point of that? Can I just go through the code and remove all these SELECT statements? Or is there an easier way to solve my problem of wanting to use these data adapters with SQL CE? I cannot regenerate these table adapters, as the people who knew how to have long since left.

  • Select a random row from table, but with odds?

    - by Don
I have a table that describes a variety of objects in my system (ie. umbrella, boots, satchel, whatever). Each one of these objects needs to have a distinct prevalence or incidence. For example, the umbrella is rarer than the boots. Based on those factors, I need to randomly select a single object (including a blank or 'no object found') based on that incidence value. Yikes. Make sense?

  • I'm cloning a table row that contains an input that's being set to jQuery TimeEntry that errors when

    - by Kendall Crouch
    I'm adding a TimeEntry to a page where the user can add a row (clone) to a table. The row that is cloned is hidden (display:none). The user clicks a button and javascript is run to clone the row which renames all of the fields and then appends the new row to the table. <tr id="blankRowShift"> <td> <input type="text" id="timeStart" name="timeStart" /> </td> <td> <input type="text" id="timeEnd" name="timeEnd" /> </td> <td> <select id="userLevel"> <option value="0">Please Select One</option> <option value="2">Admin</option> <option value="1">Employee</option> <option value="3">Scheduler</option> </select> </td> </tr> var r = $("#tbl #blankRowShift").clone().removeAttr("id"); $("#timeStart", r).attr("name", "timeStart" + nn).attr("id", "timeStart" + nn); $("#timeEnd", r).attr("name", "timeEnd" + nn).attr("id", "timeEnd" + nn); $("#userLevel option:nth(0)", r).attr("selected", "selected"); $("#userLevel", r).attr("name", "userLevel" + nn).attr("id", "userLevel" + nn).attr("value", 0); $("#tbl").append(r); $("#timeStart" + nn).timeEntry({ show24Hours: false, showSeconds: false, timeSteps: [1, 15, 0], spinnerImage: 'includes/js/spinnerOrange.png', beforeShow: customRangeStart }); $("#timeStart" + nn).timeEntry('setTime', new Date()); $("#timeEnd" + nn).timeEntry({ show24Hours: false, showSeconds: false, timeSteps: [1, 15, 0], spinnerImage: 'includes/js/spinnerOrange.png', beforeShow: customRangeEnd }); $("#timeEnd" + nn).timeEntry('setTime', new Date()); The spinner works just fine and the times can be changed. Then when submitting the form, I validate the time. The getTime errors in jQuery with the message "elem is undefined var id = elem[ expando ];". I've placed the statement 'console.dir(input)' in the _getTimeTimeEntry: function and it returns nothing for the cloned fields. el = $("#timeStart" + i); if (el.timeEntry("getTime") == null) {

  • Can I select a set of Data and directly insert that into a table in SQL?

    - by VJ
Hi I guess we cannot do this but was just curious if I could do something like - Select * from Employee where EmployeeId=1 and then use the data in the above statement and directly insert into a table with just changing the employeeid...or just this way- insert into Employee ( Select * from Employee where EmployeeId=1) its probably stupid from my side...but I just felt the need to do this a lot of times...so just was curious if there was any way to achieve it..
