  • Android: getting thumbnails from specific location on sd card

    AFAIK accessing thumbnails for images via MediaStore.Images.Thumbnails would generate thumbnails at first attempt, and that's what i need to perform against specific location on sd card. The question is how to make valid URI to content under specific folder? All answers i can find use just MediaStore.Images.Thumbnails.EXTERNAL_CONTENT_URI as uri to make managedQuery. And result of it is Cursor that points to all sdcard images, while none examples can be found on how to access only specific folder.

    Hi all, My task is just to get an xml string using XmlSerializer. Problem is that it seems like the serializer stops adding any new element and/or attribute to the xml document when it reaches certain length (perhaps 10,000 char?). My questions: have you experience this kind of problem? What could be possible solutions?   • How to change size of Android ScrollView

    I have a layout like this (abstracted): Scrollview - fill_parent LinearLayout - wrap_content ImageView 1 - wrap_content ImageView 2 - ... ImageView 3 ... In the course of user interaction some images are replaced by larger or smaller ones, shortening or lenghtening the area to be scrolled. And that is the problem. The Scrollview (SV) does not know about the change, so either it scrolls over a lot of empty space at the bottom, or cuts off a picture or two at the bottom. Question 1: Can I somehow make the SV readapt to the changed hight of the LiearLayout (LL)? Question 2: I can obtain the current size through getHight on the LL. But supplyong it to the SV via changed LayoutParams does not work - of course, that would only change the height of the SV on the screen. Is there a way to put the changed height of the LL into the SV in the code, somehow? Question 3: I havn't tried it yet. Would creating the SV, LL and its children in code and then adding/removing children of changed size as required, make the SV adapt to the changes? And last question: Is there a better aüpproach, except using ListViews?

  • Android: Quitting the Looper?

    I have a thread I use to periodically update the data in my Activity. I create the thread and start a looper for using a handler with postDelay(). In onDestroy() for my activity, I call removeCallbacks() on my handler. Should I then call handler.getLooper().quit()? Or not worry about it and let the OS deal with it? Or would it just run forever then, consuming CPU cycles?

    Im using the following code to adjust the brightness of the screen: public void SetBright(float value) { Window mywindow = getWindow(); WindowManager.LayoutParams lp = mywindow.getAttributes(); lp.screenBrightness = value; mywindow.setAttributes(lp); } But i want the brightness to be 0% for a specific time. But when i use SetBright(0.0f), i cant change it back. I made a timer that runs for a minute with 0% brightness, then turns it back to 100%. Works when i use 10% for example. But when i turn it to 0% i cant seem to wake it up again. Any ideas how to solve this?

    yesterday I noticed the possibility to integrate Fragments in older API Levels through the Compatibility package, but thats not really essential for the question. :) I have a Button with an OnClickListener Button button = (Button) findViewById(R.id.button); button.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { doSomething(); button.setPressed(true); } }); Because of the actual clicking, it is shown as pressed and after releasing the click, the button state is not pressed and stays that way. Is there a simple way that keeps the button state pressed after releasing? First thing I can think of would be some sort of timer, but that seems unreasonable.

    I need to knowingly isolate each row of the vcard and get its value. For instance, I want to get "5555" from X-CUSTOMFIELD. So far, my thoughts are: "X-CUSTOMFIELD;\d+" I have been looking at some tutorials and I am a little confused with what function to use? What would my regex above return? Would it give me the whole line or just the numerical part (5555)? I was thinking I i get the whole row, I can use substring to get the digits?   • Loopj Android Async Http - onFailure not fired

    I am using the great async http library from loopj, but I have run into a small snag. If the user has no internet connection or loses their connection, the app just won't return anything. This part is expected, but it also doesn't fire the onFailure method. Also, the code I have used when there is an internet connection does work so there is no problem on the server end. Here is some code that is stripped down to the minimum.   • "paste" listener on a SWT widget

    I have an application with a SWT widget, say a org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Text, and want to add some control to the paste function. The idea is that if the user can paste a string of IDs, I detect that, run some code and paste the object that corresponds to the IDs. So I'm looking for some "ClipBoardListener" of some sort to add to my widget, but that doesnt seem to exist. A keylistener would only trap the pastes done by key and then you would have to deal with different key combos for pasting in different OS's. Based on this java 1.2 question I tried subclassing the text class and override the inser method, but that didnt work Exception in thread "main" org.eclipse.swt.SWTException: Subclassing not allowed Seemed like an ugly solution anyway.

    I am using Android HoneyComb.I need to execute some tasks parallely and I am using AsyncTask's public final AsyncTask executeOnExecutor (Executor exec, Params... params) method.In each separate thread I am computing some values and I need to store then in an ArrayList.I must then sort all the values in the arrayList and then display it in the UI.Now my question is if one of the thread gets completed earlier than the other then will it immediately call the onPostExecute method or onPostExecute method will be called after all the background threads have been completed?MY program implementation depends on what occurs here.

    I have a ListActivity and in it I set my list items with a class that extends SimpleCursorAdapter. I'm overriding bindView to set my Views. I have some TextViews and ImageViews.   • Android Proxy Cursor

    I have a database with which I wish to expose data with a ContentProvider. However, it is important that all the colums are not exposed, and also they should be renamed. Is there any good way of doing this? I was thinking maybe some kind of proxy-cursor which takes a cursor and translates its columns to the desired ones, and calls to close and the like would just be replayed to the original cursor. Does something like this exist, or would it be hard to make?
