    I am a complete newbie to the ARM world. I need to be able to write C code, compile it, and then download into an ARM emulator, and execute. I need to use the GCC 4.1.2 compiler for the C code compilation. Can anybody point me in the correct directions for the following issues? What tool chain to use? What emulator to use?   • Advice for building a browser-based audio mixer up to 32 tracks

    As a personal hobby I am looking to build an online audio mixer where I can upload individual instrument tracks, control individual volumes of each track, and export the mixed down version. I've been trying (and have come pretty close) with javascript. I really would like to stay away from flash if possible, but I'm really looking for suggestions for technologies to try. If anyone has any suggestions on languages that are good at stuff like this or libraries that I am missing, please let me know!   • JQGrid: Dynamically set a cell to uneditable based on content

    I'm having some issues getting some cells (with cellEdit: true) to be non-editable even though the column is set to editable. I've tried many ways, like beforeEditCell, formatters, etc. None seem to work. The closest I've got is by setting a formatter to the column that I'd like to be editable and then using setCell to set the 'not-editable-cell' class (snippet below). The first time you click the cell, it unfortunately goes into edit mode, but if you click elsewhere and try to re-edit the cell, it's successfully uneditable. I've also tried using the same snipped but inside of beforeEditCell, it successfully stops the cell from being edited but in turn 'freezes' the grid.     My function looks like that. It works but does lots of work (recursively calls itself and does lots of db queries.). There must be another way to do same thing but with array (with one query). I can't figure out how to modify this function to get it work with array.   • Grid computing projects similar to NGrid (thread based)

    Hello there, first time poster. This is a great place for reading about programming problems. I've been looking at some grid computing projects for .Net/Mono and stumbled upon NGrid. NGrid seems really appealing for grid computing because you simply pass threads to it and there is very little modification you have to make to your code. However, I see that NGrid (http://ngrid.sourceforge.net/?page=overview) is still at version 0.7 and hasn't been updated since May 2008. So, I'm wondering if there are any other grid computing projects that use a similar thread-passing architecture and if anyone has had success using NGrid.

My problem at the very first time my action is being invoked. The selectionChanged method is called only after the menu item has been displayed (and not when the user has made the selection) which means that the call to a.setEnabled() will have no affect. Any ideas on how to make my action receive selectionChanged() notifications even before the fist time it is being invoked?

  • Looking for: nosql (redis/mongodb) based event logging for Django

    I'm looking for a flexible event logging platform to store both pre-defined (username, ip address) and non-pre-defined (can be generated as needed by any piece of code) events for Django. I'm currently doing some of this with log files, but it ends up requiring various analysis scripts and ends up in a DB anyway, so I'm considering throwing it immediately into a nosql store such as MongoDB or Redis. The idea is to be easily able to query, for example, which ip address the user most commonly comes from, whether the user has ever performed some action, lookup the outcome for a specific event, etc. Is there something that already does this? If not, I'm thinking of this: The "event" is a dictionary attached to the request object. Middleware fills in various pieces (username, ip, sql timing), code fills in the rest as needed. After the request is served a post-request hook drops the event into mongodb/redis, normalizing various fields (eg. incrementing the username:ip address counter) and dropping the rest in as is. Words of wisdom / pointers to code that does some/all of this would be appreciated.

    I have a number of table rows that I would like to toggle the visibility of. They should be visible if a data item I have set on them earlier equals a selected value in a form. Thing is that I thought I was able to give toggle a function that would decide if each row should be on or off, but it turns out I can only give it a boolean condition which would be an all or nothing deal kind of... So, I have this function: function() { return $(this).data('category_id') == category_id; } How can I use that to go through all the rows and toggle them on or off? Or is there a better approach to this? What should I do?

    This is something that should be easy to answer, but is more difficult for me to find a particular right answer on Google or in K&R. I could totally be overlooking this, too, and if so please set me straight! Also, when I try to put a char into my char array with tokens[i][j] = <A CHAR>, I segfault. Where am I going wrong? (And in how many ways... and how can I fix it?) Thanks so much!

My first thought was SELECT report.id,report.content AS report_content,note.content AS note_content FROM report,note WHERE report.id = note.report_id but this only returns the ones that have a match (would not return the invalid report). after this i tried adding IF conditions but i just made it worse. My question is, is this something i will figure out after getting past basic sql or can this be done in simple way? Anyway i would appreciate any help, i pretty much lost with this. Thank you. EDIT: i have looked into related questions but havent yet found one that solves my problem. I probably need to look into other statements such as join or something to sort this out.

  • Need a Java based interruptible timer thread

    I have a Main Program which is running a script on the target device(smart phone) and in a while loop waiting for stdout messages. However in this particular case, some of the heartbeat messages on the stdout could be spaced almost 45secs to a 1minute apart. something like: stream = device.runProgram(RESTORE_LOGS, new String[] {}); stream.flush(); String line = stream.readLine(); while (line.compareTo("") != 0) { reporter.commentOnJob(jobId, line); line = stream.readLine(); } So, I want to be a able to start a new interruptible thread after reading line from stdout with a required a sleep window. Upon being able to read a new line, I want to be able to interrupt/stop(having trouble killing the process), handle the newline of stdout text and restart a process. And it the event I am not able to read a line within the timer window(say 45secs) I want to a way to get out of my while loop either. I already tried the thread.run, thread.interrupt approach. But having trouble killing and starting a new thread. Is this the best way out or am I missing something obvious?

  • Showing div based on filled form field

    I have this script where I use a slider to show some elements of a form. So far so good. The way I'm doing it is by having a slider (can't use a multistep form since it uses a plugin not allowing multistep forms, plus some graphic behaviors) and a button that goes to the next slider. So now I need that button (not part of the form) to show only if a certain field is filled. I tried teh following, but it's not working, I assume some error but can't figure what.     Say I'm trying to test a simple Set class public IntSet : IEnumerable<int> { Add(int i) {...} //IEnumerable implementation... } And suppose I'm trying to test that no duplicate values can exist in the set. Granted, testing for expected conditions generically covers more cases - but it becomes very similar to implementing the logic again (which is both tedious and useless - you can't use the same code to check itself!). Basically I'm asking whether my tests should look like "insert 1, 2, 3 then check something about 3" or "insert 1, 2, 3 and check for something in general" EDIT - To help me understand, please state in your answer if you prefer OPTION 1 or OPTION 2 (or neither, or that it depends on the case, etc )

  • Disk IO Performance Limitations based on numbers of folders/files

    I have an application where users are allowed to upload images to the server. Our Web Server is a windows 2008 server and we have a site (images.mysite.com) that points to a shared drive on a unix box. The code used to do the uploading is C# 3.5. The system currently supports a workflow where after a threshold is met a new subfolder can be generated. The question we have is how many files and/or subfolders can you have in a single folder before there is a degredation in performance - in serving the images up through IIS 7 and reading/writing through code?
