Checkbox alignment in Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome

Checkbox alignment with its label (i.e., vertical centering) cross different web browsers makes me crazy. Pasted below is standard html code: <label for="ch"><input id="ch" type="checkbox">My Checkbox</label> I tested different CSS tricks (e.g., link 1, link 2); most solutions works fine in FF, but are completely off in Chrome or IE8. I'm looking for any references or pointers to solve this issue. Thanks in advance. EDIT According to Elq suggestion I modified the HTML <div class="row"> <input type="checkbox" id="ch1" /> <label for="ch1">Test</label> </div> and CSS .row{ display: table-row; } label{ display: table-cell; vertical-align: middle; } Works now in Firefox, Internet Explorer 8, and Chrome on Windows. Fails on Firefox and Chrome on Linux. Also works in Firefox and Safari on Mac, but fails on Chrome.

Java document parsing over internet using POST

I've looked all around and decided to make my own library for accessing the EVE API. Requests are sent to a server address such as /account/Characters.xml.aspx. Characters.xml.aspx requires two item be submitted in POST and then it returns an XML file. svg mouseup event not fired in IE9, unless the debugger is open

I am using d3 to build a simple chart that the user can edit interactively with the mouse. It works on in all modern common browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari), except for Internet Explorer 9 where I can start to drag an item but I never get the mouseup event. The strangest bit is that, if I open the debugger, the page works percetly on Internet Explorer 9 as well. Problem in displaying image in FireFox

Hello friends, I have a JSP page on which I have a div tag in which there is a a IMG tag. Using this IMG tag I want to show an image in it. Here the source path of an image is comes from database so I assigned a JSP variable using JSP scriplet. This JSP variable have the source path of an image. This path of image may be of different machine or of same machine i.e. images are stored on different machine or on same machine i.e. on local machine on different drive. The problem is that how to give path of image stored on different machine as well as on same machine. I have tried different ways like by giving ip address of that machine. Here is the path that of local machine where the image is stored img src= file:\localhost\D:\ScannedSheets\testproj/batch1/IMG001.jpg style="z-index:1; position:absolute; top:0; left:0; width:850; height:1099" With this syntax the image is visible in Internet Explorer but With the same syntax Its not visible in FireFox, Google Chrome etc. Please Guide me in friends. Also tell me that how to give path of the image stored on different machine which works In Internet Explorer, FireFox, Google chrome etc.

Why "Content-Length: 0" in POST requests?

A customer sometimes sends POST requests with Content-Length: 0 when submitting a form (10 to over 40 fields). We tested it with different browsers and from different locations but couldn't reproduce the error. The customer is using Internet Explorer 7 and a proxy. We asked them to let their system administrator see into the problem from their side. Running some tests without the proxy, etc.. In the meantime (half a year later and still no answer) I'm curious if somebody else knows of similar problems with a Content-Length: 0 request. Maybe from inside some Windows network with a special proxy for big companies. Is there a known problem with Internet Explorer 7? With a proxy system? The Windows network itself? Google only showed something in the context of NTLM (and such) authentication, but we aren't using this in the web application. Maybe it's in the way the proxy operates in the customer's network with Windows logins? (I'm no Windows expert. Just guessing.) I have no further information about the infrastructure.

IE sending through multiple unrequested requests for parent URL

We have a rather large/complex web site (so it's not easy to extract portions of it). The problem we're having is that IE6/7/8 (but 6 is the worst) are sending through multiple requests for the parent of a URL (which fails, a different point). As an example, if you visited (dummy domain name obviously): http://www.example.com/view/event/123/456/78 We'd get 8-20 requests for: http://www.example.com/view/event/123/456/ appear in the Apache log. We've tried: Disabling all plugins (including toolbars, Flash, etc) Disabling scripting (e.g. Javascript) And it still sends through at least one erroneous request. We've viewed the requests through ieHttpHeaders so the browser is aware of them (i.e. it's not prefetching by the network's proxy). Any ideas? What can else could cause this?

VB.NET Program Locks Up with Internet Explorer Opened

I'm using Visual Studio 2008 and developing a VB.NET application. I'm having strange lockup problems with my program, but only when Internet explorer 8 is opened. When I cover my form with another window and then uncover it, I find that it has locked up. My program has no references to IE and the only thing it even has to do with IE is using Process.Start with a web address. My program works fine and exactly as it should, but only when IE is not opened. Does anyone know why a program would lock up only while IE is running? Edit: I've done some digging and I've found the offending thread in my program. I don't know what starts this thread or what it does, but when I kill it, my program no longer freezes. Rotating an image in all browsers (canvas in IE?)

I finally got to work with canvas only to find out that it is not implemented in IE. I tried explore canvas from google to use it in Internet Explorer, but it's not working for my code (http://uptowar.com/test.php - little bug though that it is not removing the old image when rotating). So, is there an other way to smoothly rotate an image around it's bottom center angle? Maybe javascript? Or is there a way to do it with IE and canvas anyway? Edit: Google Chrome also seems to add an ugly border to the canvas example.. there must be an other smooth way? Edit2: tried a hacky javascript way: it causes mayor lags and corrupts the image (http://uptowar.com/test2.php), anyone knows of a working method?

Why do I get "ignoring out-of-zone data" when restarting BIND

I've been using my own DNS server but then I moved to a third part DNS provider. Yesterday I wanted to go back to using my own DNS's and cancel this third party service. I've lowered TTL in current DNS conf, changed DNS info in GoDaddy for my domain and that's when problems started. My domain seems to be working only for some people but not for others so clearly something is wrong. Can't join OS X Mavericks to AD Domain

I'm attempting to join an OS X Mavericks (10.9) client to a Windows Server 2008 Active Directory domain, however the bind fails with this error in the OS X client's system.log: Oct 24 15:03:15 host.domain.com com.apple.preferences.users.remoteservice[5547]: -[ODCAddServerSheetController handleOtherActionError: gotError: Error Domain=com.apple.OpenDirectory Code=5202 "Authentication server encountered an error while attempting the requested operation." I've joined (bound) Ubuntu Linux clients to the same domain with net ads join in the past with no problems (using the same administrative user). I don't have access to any server logs. Here's the GUI error (from Directory Utility) on the OS X client: Here's the GUI error (from User's and Groups) in System Preferences on the OS X client: Update After some Wiresharking I've got some more info: OS X Client - KDC (over UDP): AS_REQ (no padata) OS X Client <- KDC (over UDP): KRB5KDC_ERR_PREAUTH_REQUIRED OS X Client - KDC (over UDP): AS_REQ (this time with PA-ENC-TIMESTAMP in padata) OS X Client <- KDC (over UDP): KRB5KDC_ERR_RESPONSE_TOO_BIG OS X Client - KDC (over TCP): AS_REQ (also with PA-ENC-TIMESTAMP in padata) OS X Client <- KDC (over TCP): KDC_ERR_ETYPE_NOSUPP ...and that's it. This is what I think is going on: The OS X client sends a kerberos request. The KDC says, "You need to pre-authenticate. Try again" The OS X client tries to pre-authenticate (all this so far is over UDP) Something gets lost on our network and the KDC says, "Oops something went wrong" The OS X client switches to TCP and tries again. Over TCP, the KDC says, "You're using an encryption type I don't support" Note that in its padata records, the OS X client is always using "aes256-cts-hmac-sha1-96" as its encryption type. However, in its KDC_REQ_BODY record it lists the aes256-cts-hmac-sha1-96, aes128-cts-hmac-sha1-96, des3-cbc-sha1, and rc4-hmac encryption types. When the KDC comes back with KDC_ERR_ETYPE_NOSUPP, it uses rc4-hmac as its encryption type in its padata record. I know next to nothing about Kerberos, but it seems to me that the OS X client should go ahead and try the rc4-hmac encryption type. However, it does nothing after this. Android: handle unexpected internet disconnect while downloading data

My question is, what if while reading the stream and saving the data to a file and suddenly I was disconnected in the internet, will these catch exceptions below can really catch that kind of incident? Internet Explorer 8 + Deflate

I have a very weird problem.. I really do hope someone has an answer because I wouldn't know where else to ask. I am writing a cgi application in C++ which is executed by Apache and outputs HTML code. I am compressing the HTML output myself - from within my C++ application - since my web host doesn't support mod_deflate for some reason. I tested this with Firefox 2, Firefox 3, Opera 9, Opera 10, Google Chrome, Safari, IE6, IE7, IE8, even wget.. It works with ANYTHING except IE8. IE8 just says "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage", with no information whatsoever. I know it's because of the compression only because it works if I disable it. Do you know what I'm doing wrong? (In my case, two mobile broadband connections ppp0 x2 ) Each connection has a unique & static public IP address. What I need is to control A computer's cursor, using B computer's mouse, over the Internet. In both computers, I have allowed other users to control my computer in Desktop Sharing preferences, as below: When I try to connect to A from the B using Remmina Remote Desktop Client, it refuses to connect after trying for a while. These are my settings: I expect this to be done from an available open source software, not from TeamViewer. I found this guide harder to understand. Please provide me clear instructions... How to get rid of Internet Explorer 7 reloading on fragment change

I have an anchor <a href="#!admin">General</a> somewhere in my page. Clicking this in any browser but IE7 (haven't tried IE6) causes no page reload, as expected. However, under IE7 it reloads the page as soon as it's clicked. The strangest thing is that I have the exact same anchor elsewhere in the page and it causes no reload. The only difference I can see between these is a slight difference in style, and the fact that the faulty anchor is deeply nested in divs, where the other is closer to the top. My questions: Is this a known bug with IE7? If so, is there any work around? If not, any clue as to what might be going wrong? Router reconfigures PC's and they can no longer access the internet via hardwired connection to DSL Modem. Hardware Information: Buffalo Wireless Router/access point, Model: WZR-HP-G300NH-AP DSL Modem: Generic (actually not sure of manufacture). Service Provider: TOT (Thailand) Laptop-1: Windows XP and Belkin PCMIA Network Card Laptop-2: Windows XP unknown network card & Wifi Laptop-3: Windows 7 unknown network card & Wifi Outline of Problem/actions taken: After a recent power failure the router and laptop-1 connected to router were no longer able to access the internet. Actions taken to try and recover internet access: Using Laptop-1 tried to configure Router with PPPoe settings using software from Router Manufacture. During the installation process a Timeout error was experienced, unable to connect to WAN. Used Internet Explorer to communicate directly with Router using IP address. Changed settings to use PPPoe settings given by ISP. Router was not able to communicate with Internet. Repeated steps 1-4 again with no success. Reset Router and DSL modem. Repeated steps 1-4 again still no success. Tried connecting Laptop-1 directly to DSL to gain access to internet to research problem. No Network connection with DSL could be established…connection would be established for a second and then be lost and didn’t appear long enough to actually connect to DSL. Replugged LAN back into Router and connection was regained with laptop-1. Replugged Laptop-1 directly into DSL and again unable to establish network connection. Uninstalled network card and all of its drivers on Laptop-1. Reinstalled network card and drivers and tried connecting directly to DSL. Still unable to make network connection. Plugged DSL into Laptop-3 and Internet connection was established. Being Laptop-3 does not have a CD-Rom, Laptop-2 was tried to connect to the router. With Laptop-2 steps 1-7 ended up being repeated without success. Tried plugging Laptop-2 directly into DSL and again no network connection could be established. Using Laptop-3 with a direct connection to DSL downloaded latest Router FW. Installed router FW using Laptop-1. Tired the installation process again without success. Being desperate reinstalled OS on Laptop-1 still not success. Tried using “ipconfig” with router to see what was going on without success. With laptop-1 connected to DSL went through the “ipconfig /…” inputs to see if anything made a difference. Being the network card was not able to make a connection this provide very little information “media disconnected”. So now I have a router and two laptops which are unable to connect to the internet and sure could use some advice/help.

I've been having issues with Gmail rejecting emails from my VPS server because of false spam alerts (probably caused by lfd sending too many emails). So I changed my Exim config to send emails from a different IP (my VPS comes with 3) and that fixed the issue. I also enabled DKIM and SPF on my domains for added measure. But now, all my emails appear as ("From: Sender Name via server.domain1.com") where server.domain1.com is my VPS hostname. I previously had the same issue in Outlook and turning off "Set SMTP Sender: headers" solved that problem. But I believe adding the DKIM and SPF now makes Gmail add "via server.domain1.com" to my messages. How do I fix this? I previously had the same issue in Outlook and turning off "Set SMTP Sender: headers" solved that problem. But I believe adding the DKIM and SPF now makes Gmail add "via server.domain1.com" to my messages. How do I fix this? DNS works only with ip but does not work with NS CentOS + Bind9

I am having a headache with DNS. Lets say my public IP is 1.2.3.4, my local IP is 192.168.0.10 and my domain is example.com I am running CentOS on a virtual machine (Parallels Desktop for Mac) with a LAN card reserved for it, so it gets Ip directly from the router. I have ports 80,443,53 forwarded to 192.168.0.10. Both Mac OS and CentOs firewalls are Off. nginx + apache subdomain redirection fault

i really need your advice folks since i'm experiencing some troubles with nginx & apache2 subdomains configs first of all, there's a site (say, site.com) and two subdomains (links.site.com and shop.site.com) whose files are physically located at the same level of FS hierarchy as the site.com itself my hoster has configured both apache and nginx by my request, but it still doesn't work as it used to both of subdomains point to the main page of site.com for some unknown and implicit (for me) reason :( my assumption is that's happen because site.com record is placed first in both configs?!.. please help me solve this out!
