  • How can i use a duration setting on .animate if it is inside the callback from a .fadeOut effect?

    I am trying to just fade the content of section#secondary out and once the content has been faded out, the parent (section#secondary) should animate 'shut' in a slider animation. All this is working however the durations are not and I cannot figure out why. What happens is that the fadeOut uses the appropriate slow speed but as soon as the callback fires (once the content is faded out) the section#secondary animates to width: 0 within a couple of milliseconds and not the 3000 ms ( 3 sec ) I set the animation duration to. Any ideas would be appreciated. PS: I cannot post an example at this point but since this is more a matter of theory of jQuery I don't think an example is necessary here. Correct me if I am wrong..

    Hi all, i am currently working on a web application that needs to accept video uploaded by users in any format (.avi, .mov, etc.) and convert them to flv for playing in a flash-based player. Since the site is OpenCms-based, the best solution would be a ready-made plugin for OpenCms that allowed to upload and play videos doing the transcode operation in background, but just a set of Java classes to do the transcode would be great and then i could make the uploading form and playback part on my own.

    Hi, I would like to render specific HTML snippets for displaying banners, because each banner has a different nature (some images, some flash, etc). Every banner file is under app/public/banners/. I tried many ways, like: render :file => "/banners/somebanner.html" But it can't locate the file, because Rails looks under app/views. Any ideas ?   • Actionscript can't call javasript from locally-saved html

    I try to perform calling of a javascript function from actionscript 3.0 thru ExternalInterface.call(). I've seen a lot of online examples where the method works perfectly. But all downloaded copies of the examples don't work. Flash player can't call javasript due to the swf-html container security problems. I've already tried to set allowScriptAccess value from "sameDomain" to "always". It haven't solved the problem.

    i wonder if HTML5 Web Storage will be cleared when browser clears its cache? if it did, many ppl like me may lose data if i accidentally clear cache? or like in this comment ... Since HTML5 local storage is kept separate from js cookies (like Silverlight, Gears, Flash), it opens up a world of 3rd party privacy issues for HTML5 as these objects will likely NOT get deleted with a clear cache or delete temporary data ... where web storage is not cleared, but leads to privacy issues?

Now, to do that I'm using the following code. var transform1:SoundTransform=new SoundTransform(); transform1.volume=0; flash.media.SoundMixer.soundTransform=transform1; Which solves the problem (mutes all sounds) but now there is an issue, I want to stop all sounds but one.   • FileReference.load() not populating FileReference.data.

    I am trying to use the load method of FileReference object to load the data and use it to display a thumbnail of the selected image. However, after calling fr.load(), fr.data remains null. I'm using Flex Builder 3.0.2 on Windows 7 with Flex SDK 3.4 and Flash Player 10 Debug. If I evaluate fr.load() in Eclipse's watch variables list, I get an error reading "No such variable: load." Anyone know why this is happening?

    The use case: to sign a electronic document, users view the document, and if they agree take a picture of themselves with their webcam (done through Flash from the browser). Then a PDF is generated containing the document and the picture in place of signature. This is a biometric signature, which is not as strong as a digital (cryptographic) signature, but stronger than having users draw their signature, as a photo is harder to forge than a drawn signature. Has anyone seen this technique being used on an existing web site?

You can click on other links in the site and they are displayed below the header but the header is not disrupted and can continue playing music.   • Prevent backslash from being parsed by javascript for a string

    A Flash AS3 IRC application sends me a string like "f\reak" to my javascript. Irc allows the \ in usernames which poses a problem when its passed to javascript. "f\reak" become "feak" in javascript making the \r into a carriage return. Is there a way to read the absolute value of the string instead of parsing a carriage return? These don't methods didn't work str.valueOf() str.toString() str.charAt(position of the \ ) this just sees the carriage return as well and not a backslash
