  • Getting Postfix to process the mail queue on Mac OS X

    I'm in the process of getting Sendmail/Postfix setup so that I can send and test my PHP scripts when using the mail() function. I've got to the point that when I run the mail() function in PHP, the script executes without any errors and the mail is sent to my mailq but it then does not get processed and simply times-out with a message of: Operation timed out. An excerpt from Terminal: -Queue ID- --Size-- ----Arrival Time---- -Sender/Recipient------- 137AA96B6C2 897 Tue Mar 16 22:27:05 [email protected] (connect to alt4.gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com[74.125.93.27]: Operation timed out) [email protected] Any ideas as to how I can fix this timeout issue?   • Slow upload, fast download on Windows 7 64bit system

    I've got a weird problem in the download speeds on my desktop PC (Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit) are consistently fast (approx. 400kB/s) but uploads are very slow (around 6-10kB/s). This has been going on for the last 3 weeks or so. I am a very competent user and troubleshooter, and have searched online for 2 weeks for a solution, to no avail. Part of the problem is that internet is provided by WiFi by my landlord and I have no access to the router (BT Home Hub router) although I know for sure he wouldn't have the first idea on how to restrict my usage :) (rules that out) Anyway, I've tried: - various drivers (my Wifi 'card' is TP-link TL-WN851N, and I've tried TP-link + Atheros + Qualcomm Atheross drivers, suggested by Microsoft) - various tweaks to network parameters (e.g. as suggested by SpeedOptimser) - various tweaks to Windows 7 services (e.g. disabling/manual-ing unecessary services) - raising and lowering head onto a reasonably firm surface at moderate frequency (jk :D) None of the above have helped, and I'm officialy asking for help now!!     JFileChooser looks nothing like the native widget. I seem to remember reading some hack to get it look like the native widget but searching for it know i can't seem to find it again i came across posts that suggest using java.awt.FileChooser but that class does not seem to be in the distribution. How can i make JFileChooser make look like the native widget?

  • Capture bitmap of window in isolation (Windows OS)?

    I know there's a way to capture a bitmap of a window in Windows without anything that may be obscuring it (e.g. you have a window with a dialog in front, but the dialog is not captured as it would be if you did a simple pixel grab), but I can't remember how to do so. Also I believe this is only possible in Windows Vista and above, with the introduction of the compositing window manager?

  • WDS (Wireless Distribution System) not work [migrated]

    I've a dlink di-524 as main router (192.168.0.1) connected to Internet and a second router (192.168.0.2), a tplink wr841n, with WDS enabled and correctly configured to "join" with dlink. After I connect via wireless a laptop (192.168.0.100) to tplink and both work good but with the laptop I can't go to Internet. It seems as WDS not work. With the laptop I can only ping the tplink but other ping (the dlink or other LAN computer not responding). What's the problem? Perhaps also the dlink must have the WDS option? Thanks.

    I followed the instructions for setting up postgresql from this site All seems to go fine until I try: createuser --superuser myname -U postgres I get the following exception: createuser: could not connect to database postgres: could not connect to server: No such file or directory Is the server running locally and accepting connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432"? For the life of me I can't figure out how to resolve this. Any ideas???

    I have two Windows Server 2003 and both have DFS and it does replication between them. I would like to migrate the primary win2k3 DFS server to win2k8. what is the best way to do that?   • Failing SSHFS connection drags down the system

    From time to time my sshfs mount fails. All programs using the mount freeze when it happens. I can't even ls anything or use nautilus. Is there a way to find out what's the cause and how to handle it? I've noticed regular SSH sessions to the server get their fair share of Write failed: broken pipe disconnects, too. If I wait long enough (and I'm talking about 20-ish minutes, here) it will auto reconnect and things start working again.

  • Storage drives is causting system crash

    I'm running Centos 5.4 with 750GB(ntfs) and 2TB drives for storage. Originally I installed the 750, everything seemed fine and then I installed the 2TB drive with NTFS already partitioned. I noticed when I would copy a lot of videos it would crash (no mouse or response from server) about 20min into it. After doing some troubleshooting I noticed the 750 would also crash when doing the same task so I decided that NTFS may be the problem. I unmounted the 2TB drive and tried to partition and format it using ext2 but when using parted it would crash at this point "writing inode tables". Looking at the dmesg logs I believe this is the error "mtrr: type mismatch for e0000000,10000000 old: write-back new: write-combining". Any idea as to what could be causing this?

    Compiling VIM on Mountain Lion does not work for me. I compile VIM with the following sequence: hg clone https://vim.googlecode.com/hg/ vim cd vim ./configure --enable-rubyinterp --with-features=huge -prefix=/usr make I then try to start the compiled binary with src/vim, but it crashes like this: $ src/vim Vim: Caught deadly signal SEGV Vim: Finished. Segmentation fault: 11 What am I missing here?

    Hi Guys. I have tried to find out the working solution for implementing simple events booking system in Drupal 6 (limited places, payment, signing up/buying few places for firends). System does not have to be big but easy to customize events to reserve/book places for. I was surprised of not finding much complete solutions. Most of the time I was directed to use modules like: Date, Calendar, Singup, Singup Ubercraft integration, Ubercraft. Does anybody of you has tested it? Is it working and customizable or you would suggest other alternatives on the subject? Wiil appreciate any recomendations.

    Hello, i am trying to install VS TS 2008 on W7 Ultimate (64bit), but i have run into errors during the setup. Please take note that i have tried to mount the iso to a virtual drive, and also extracted the iso contents to a local folder. Both methods have failed and produce the same error log below. [10/26/09,03:02:40] Runtime Pre-requisites: [2] Error: Installation failed for component Runtime Pre-requisites. MSI returned error code 1603 [10/26/09,03:02:42] VS70pgui: [2] DepCheck indicates Runtime Pre-requisites is not installed. [10/26/09,03:02:42] VS70pgui: [2] DepCheck indicates Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 64bit Prerequisites (x64) was not attempted to be installed. And the list goes on and on.. This is a fresh install of W7, and i have not installed MS Office 2007 at all yet, not sure if it would be causing my errors right now.. I appreciate any help i can get thank you.

    hi in my application i have 20 icons(bitmap fields) on the home screen When i click on any icon an HTTP request is made in a separate thread. I have used invoke later method wherever necessary to take care of multi-threading problems. But still the number of threads goes beyond 16 and an error pops up indicating too many threads error and applications needs to be restarted!! can anybody tell me how to destroy these threads when they are no longer in use. I don't understand why they don't destroy on their own as usually they do.

  • How to Architect a system on AWS for scaling (with a MySQL back-end)

    I'm trying to understand how to architect an Amazon Web Services application. As I understand it, the whole point of using something like AWS is to make the eventual scaling easier, so I'm trying to understand how to do that. I have an instance, running off of EBS (EBS-based instance, not a regular instance). My application (a Django app) uses MySQL as a back-end. So the question is, where am I supposed to install the MySQL? Do I install it on the same instance? In which case, as far as I can tell, I can't simply create more server instances from that image. Or am I supposed to simply spin up another server as a DB server, and run off of that? Thanks for any help!

  • Raid system fails to boot after moving from 2.6 kernel to 3.5

    I'm running Gentoo Linux with a custom compiled kernel and I've just migrated from a 2.6 kernel to a 3.5. As my HD's are on RAID 0 mode I use a custom initrd file in order to be able to boot. While kernel 2.6 is able to boot without problems the new 3.5 compiled kernel fails to boot complaining about no block devices found. After taking a look at initrd.cpio contained scripts I can see the failure message is given by mdadm tool. Does anyone has a clue about that? Edit: this morning i noticed there was some kind of issue on my old initrd which works fine for 2.6 kernels, so created a new initrd which works fine and let me to boot into GNU/Gentoo Linux with same 3.5 bzImage.   • file copy error from system to cifs mount

    When coping a file greater than 64kB from an Ubuntu server to a CIFS mounted windows share, most of the data is copied, but it seems the last chunk doesn't get copied. The size doesn't match, and the md5 check sums don't match. I have plenty of file space, but then I use cp, I get the following... cp: closing `cloudBackup/asdf.txt': No space left on device Using rsync, I get the following... rsync: close failed on "/home/fluffy/cloudBackup/.asdf.txt.qrBWe6": No space left on device (28) rsync error: error in file IO (code 11) at receiver.c(752) [receiver=3.0.8] rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (29 bytes received so far) [sender] rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(601) [sender=3.0.8] I have full read/write permissions on the mounted share. I can copy via SSH just fine. Any ideas? Thank you
