  • jQuery: Scroll down page a set increment (in pixels) on click?

    I'm trying to make a page scroll down 150px from the current position when an element is clicked. So lets say you're roughly halfway scrolled down a page. You click this link, and it will slide you down an additional 150 pixels. Is this possible with jQuery? I've been looking at scrollTop and the scrollTo plugin, but I can't seem to connect the dots.

  • Friendness and derived class

    Hi, Let's say I have the following class hierarchy: class Base { protected: virtual void foo() = 0; friend class Other; }; class Derived : public Base { protected: void foo() { /* Some implementation */ }; }; class Other { public: void bar() { Derived* a = new Derived(); a->foo(); // Compiler error: foo() is protected within this context }; }; I guess I could change it too a->Base::foo() but since foo() is pure virtual in the Base class, the call will result in calling Derived::foo() anyway. However, the compiler seems to refuse a->foo(). I guess it is logical, but I can't really understand why. Am I missing something ? Can't (shouldn't) it handle this special case ? Thank you.

All plugins inherit from this class. Ideally, I have a virtual static function in Parent named match, and all the plugins need to reimplement this function.   • JQuery, Load() contents with plugins

    I know this is not a completely new question, but none of the answers solved my problem... I have built a little menu that uses load() to load image galleries (as external html files) into a specified div ("content"). The said galleries make use of a JQuery plugin (SlideJS). Now I know that load() does not work for script tags and that I need to use $.getscript in the callback function in order to run the scripts, but it does not work. I have two .js files that need to be loaded: one is the plugin itself and another one is a smaller script with a preloader and the animations for the captions. I can't seem to merge them together; if I put them into the same document, the script won't run. So I tried just using $.getscript to load the two files. I tried using two callbacks as suggested in other answer (I know it's not ideal...): $("#proposal").click(function(){ $(this).addClass('selected'); $("a:not(:#proposal)").removeClass('selected'); $("#content").load("works/proposal/proposal.html", function(){ $.getScript("js/slide.js", function (){ $.getScript("js/slidepage.js"); }); }); }); and I tried a variable (read about it in some other faq, not sure if the syntax is correct) $("#proposal").click(function(){ $(this).addClass('selected'); $("a:not(:#proposal)").removeClass('selected'); $("#content").load("works/proposal/proposal.html", function(){ var scripts = ['js/slide.js','js/slidepage.js']; $.getScript(scripts); }); }); So none of these work. One of them is already minified, but I've tried with a non-minified version and it does not work either. Can anyone suggest any other solution around this problem? I thought of just having the div embedded in the main document and just showing it on click, but I'll have at least 4 galleries with about 8 to 10 images each... its a lot of images to load in the main page, so I don't think its the best way. if you need me to post any more code, please ask!     In the web app I'm working on I want to do a little slide up notification, like on twitter or your desktop. jQuery's .slideDown does exactly what I want, but it's upside down. The .slideUp doesn't execute an upside down version of slideDown. Instead it hides stuff, like after your cleaning up an old message you've displayed with slideDown. So what's the simplest code to do an upside down slideDown() in jQuery?

  • "Inlining" (kind of) functions at runtime in C

    Hi, I was thinking about a typical problem that is very JIT-able, but hard to approach with raw C. The scenario is setting up a series of function pointers that are going to be "composed" (as in maths function composition) once at runtime and then called lots and lots of times. Doing it the obvious way involves many virtual calls, that are expensive, and if there are enough nested functions to fill the CPU branch prediction table completely, then the performance with drop considerably. In a language like Lisp, I could probably process the code and substitute the "virtual" call by the actual contents of the functions and then call compile to have an optimized version, but that seems very hacky and error prone to do in C, and using C is a requirement for this problem ;-) So, do you know if there's a standard, portable and safe way to achieve this in C?     I am trying to get have the lower part of list view slide down, by hiding an unhiding linear layout in list_item. The problem is the view seems to get reused in LayoutAdapter so that the change does not just effect the view I intended to apply it to. Instead it shows up wherever the view is reused. How can I restrict the drop down to just the view on which I requested the dropdown? By drop down I mean unhide the linear layout.

    Hi, So i just started trying to develop a simple webpart today for a sharepoint foundation i put on a virtual machine. I have no previous experience with sharepoint whatsoever. As i cant run a sharepoint 2010 on my local machine for dev purposes i followed advices in this thread http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/sharepoint2010programming/thread/cda807f6-4edf-4efc-8e9b-4d446356c8ae to able to actually develop something (just the registry bit). I created the simple test web part (writes out "hi"), uploaded it to virtual machine, added it with add-spsolution and install-spsolution in powershell with success. When i do get-solution through powershell on my webpart it says deployed = true. What am i missing from here to get it to actually show up somewhere in the web interface so i can add it to a page?   • Activating a button underneath the mouse: how do you capture the OVER event?

    Observed behavior: I have a page of UI sliding onto the screen. On slide complete, activate buttons. If mouse already over a button, the rollover does not happen (since MOUSE_OVER hasn't technically occurred) Desired behavior: 1, 2 the same, but on 3, I see my rollover. Is there any way to easily do this, aside from something brute-force, like tracking the mouse and comparing its position against all buttons dims? Thanks!

  • Linux fsck.ext3 says "Device or resource busy" although I did not mount the disk.

    I am running an ubuntu 8.04 server instance with a 8GB virtual disk on vmware 1.0.9. For disk maintenance I made a copy of the virtual disk (by making a copy of the 2 vmdk files of sda on the stopped vm on the host) and added it to the original vm. Now this vm has it's original virtual disk sda plus a 1:1 copy (sdd). There are 2 additional disk sdb and sdc which I ignore.) I would expect sdb not to be mounted when I start the vm. So I try tp do a ext2 fsck on sdd from the running vm, but it reports fsck reported that sdb was mounted. $ sudo fsck.ext3 -b 8193 /dev/sdd e2fsck 1.40.8 (13-Mar-2008) fsck.ext3: Device or resource busy while trying to open /dev/sdd Filesystem mounted or opened exclusively by another program? When a user with an email account on the system sends mail from outside the network, using the server as the relay, to addresses inside the network, the email is delivered.     What I am trying to do is transition our domain from Server 2003 Enterprise x32 to Server 2008 R2 Enterprise x64. Here is what I have done thus far. The 2003 server is a physical machine, the 2008 server is a virtual machine Built a virtual machine that has Server 2008 R2 Enterprise x64 and joined it to the domain as a domain member On the 2003 DC, Raised Domain Functional Level and Forest Functional Level to Windows Server 2003 On the 2003 DC, went into the registry and navigated to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NTDS\Parameters and verified that the Schema Version is 30 On the 2003 DC, inserted the Windows Server 2008 Enterprise x32 Edition to copy over the adprep folder. This version is the only one that seemed to work On the 2003 DC, opened command prompt and went to adprep directory and ran adprep /forestprep , adprep /domainprep , and adprep /domainprep /gpprep On the 2008 server, Installed the Active Directory Domain Services role from Server Manager On the 2003 DC, went into the registry and navigated to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NTDS\Parameters and verified that the Schema Version is now 44 When I go to run dcpromo on the 2008 server, I get a message that says: "To install a domain controller into this Active Directory forest, you must first prepare using adprep /forestprep" I went back to the 2003 DC server and went through the adprep logs and I came across this: Adprep was unable to modify the security descriptor on object CN=DomainControllerAuthentication,CN=Certificate Templates,CN=Public Key Services,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=xeroxtoledo,DC=com. [Status/Consequence] ADPREP was unable to merge the existing security descriptor with the new access control entry (ACE). [User Action] Check the log file ADPrep.log in the C:\WINDOWS\debug\adprep\logs\20100327143517 directory for more information. Adprep encountered an LDAP error. *Error code: 0x20. Server extended error code: 0x208d, Server error message: 0000208D: NameErr: DSID-031001CD, problem 2001 (NO_OBJECT), data 0, best match of: 'CN=Certificate Templates,CN=Public Key Services,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=xeroxtoledo,DC=com* In fact, I got three of these errors. The LDAP error is consistent with all three, but the top part where it says "Adprep was unable to modify the security descriptor on object" are different. They are the following: CN=DomainControllerAuthentication,CN=Certificate Templates,CN=Public Key Services,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=xeroxtoledo,DC=com. I've tried various quick fixes that I've came across through Google searches that include: Disabling AntiVirus on current DCs Pointing DNS on PDC to point to itself Changing the Schema Update Allowed key to 1 and tried rerunning adprep - when rerunning adprep, told me that Forest-wide information has already been updated Disabled Windows Firewall on the Server 2008 box On the 2003 DC, went to Domain Controller Security Policy Local Policies User Rights Assignment and added Domain Admins to the Enable computer and user accounts to be trusted for delegation policy setting Both our PDC and BDC are Global Catalog Servers. Not sure if this matters or not I ran the command netdom query fsmo and verified that the FSMO role holder is the current 2003 PDC I ran dcdiag /v on the 2003 PDC and the only thing that failed was Services. Dnscache Service is stopped on the PDC I even went as far as deleting the virtual machine and recreating it from scratch - no avail... Help :(

  • WDS DHCP same server on Windows Server 2008

    I have been struggling with a problem on my Windows Server 2008 for the past 4 - 5 hours and cannot figure out whats wrong. I have tried pretty much everything that I found on google and all the links are purple. Hopefully you guys can help me. I am running a Windows Server 2008 Standard edition with the latest updates as of today. Furthermore I am running a Windows Server 2003. Both are virtual machines on my ESXi 5 server. My network is: 192.168.10.0/24 W2k8: 192.168.10.251 is the PDC running ADS, DHCP and WDS W2k3: 192.168.10.253 AND 192.168.1.175 running Routing and Remote Access and ISA 2006 Enterprise In my internal network (192.168.10.0/24) I have my client machine (192.168.10.10) that runs a VMWare Workstation. I am trying to deploy Windows 7 Home Premium to a virtual machine on my VMWorkstation via PXE. I have set the Workstation's VM network adapter to "bridged" so that it uses the physical network adapter and is connected to my internal network. The DHCP pool is configured to give IP addresses from 192.168.10.10-192.168.10.15 (works for normal clients and is not used up) When I start my VM with the PXE I get the error: PXE-E52:proxyDHCP offers were received. No DHCP offers were received Apperently this means "that means that WDS responded but the DHCP server did not." People suggested to direct the traffic to both WDS and DHCP on the router, since everything is on the same subnet there is no need for that as the broadcast is seen by everyone (WDS and DHCP) No reservation for the virtual mac addrs is made on the DHCP. Furthermore it was suggested to configure the DHCP options: Option 60= PXEClient Option 66= WDS server name or IP address Option 67= Boot file name However, this is not recommended by Microsoft, I tried it and it did not solve my problem. The configuration on the WDS (My System is German therefore the actual naming might be different): PXE response tab: PXE responses is set to "ALL (known and unknown)" DHCP Tab: Do not listen to port 67 is NOT ticked - if I tick this I do not get any responses and the PXE errors gets PXE-E51 that neither DHCP or proxyDHCP were received DHCP-Option 60 for "PXEClient" is ticked The confusing part here is that it is advised in the tab to tick the first option since it is on the same server. Network Configuration Tab: Use the following IP-Address range for Multicast-IP-Address: 224.0.1.0 - 224.0.10.0 Thats not the default one, however it is in the allowed range. The UDP port range is the default since it is not advised to change them. I tried to change the "networkprofile" from 100mbits/1gbits and custom. I am running a 1gbit network with CAT6 cables and 1gbit netgear switch 5 ports. Everything is configured to use 1gbit. The WDS is authorised for the DHCP server. My ISA 2006 configuration: For the internal networking i have configured the following policy array: Allow protocols on internal network including the w2k3 host: 67,68,53,ICMP, 4011 UDP receive, 64001-6500 UDP send receive, 69 UDP send Routing and Remote Access I tried the DHCP relay agent configuration that was suggested as well, but that did not work I would highly appreciate anykind of help because I am pretty much done here with my nerves.     I'm trying to configure under Linux (Kubuntu 9.10) a VPN I already use from Windows. I installed the network-manager-pptp package and added the VPN under Network Manager.
