• Cannot add Silverlight Maps Control to Windows Mobile 7 application

  I know the bits just came out today, but one of the first things I want to do with the newly released Windows Mobile 7 SDK is put a map up on the screen and mess around. I've downloaded the latest version of the Silverlight Maps Control and added the references to my application. As a matter of fact, the VS 2010 design view of the MainPage.xaml shows the map control after adding the namespace and placing the control. I'm using the provided VS 2010 Express version that comes with the Win Mobile 7 SDK and have just used the New Project - Windows Phone Application template. When I try to build I get two warnings related to the Microsoft.Maps.MapControl dll's. Warning 1 The primary reference "Microsoft.Maps.MapControl, Version=1.0.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=498d0d22d7936b73, processorArchitecture=MSIL" could not be resolved because it has an indirect dependency on the framework assembly "System.Windows.Browser, Version=2.0.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7cec85d7bea7798e" which could not be resolved in the currently targeted framework. "Silverlight,Version=v4.0,Profile=WindowsPhone". To resolve this problem, either remove the reference "Microsoft.Maps.MapControl, Version=1.0.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=498d0d22d7936b73, processorArchitecture=MSIL" or retarget your application to a framework version which contains "System.Windows.Browser, Version=2.0.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7cec85d7bea7798e". • applet does not load

  We have a legacy program that was ported from Java 1.3 to Java 1.5. This application involves applets which worked fine before. After porting however, the applet would not load. However there are no errors or exceptions. The app would just try to load it forever. We tried to run it with Java 1.6 and poof! No problems whatsoever. Isn't Java 6 backwards compatible? • Cannot render images locally with Sql Server 2005 Report Services SOAP service calls

  I am trying to render images from SSRS 2005 via the SOAP call. When the reports service is installed on the same server as my website, the images generated do not render in the page. However, when I connect to the reporting service URL from the same web code on a separate machine the images render just fine. Is there a dependency that I am missing to allow me to run the web and SSRS on the same box?

  We use Subversion locally, and we're working on a project that uses a fork of Fluent NHibernate, which is hosted on Github. I'd like it set up so that a single svn checkout will retrieve everything necessary to build the project, but maintain the ability to fetch HEAD updates from github. Is there any way I can pull code from the Git repository as though it was an svn:external dependency? Can I just check the .git folder into our Subversion repository and just run git fetch when I need to, then svn commit the results?

• Asp.net Google Charts SSL handler for GeoMap

  Hi All, I am trying to view Google charts in a site using SSL. Google Charts do not support SSL so if we use the standard charts, we get warning messages. My plan is to create a ASHX handler that is co9ntained in the secure site that will retrieve the content from Google and serve this to the page the user is viewing. Using VS 2008 SP1 and the included web server, my idea works perfectly for both Firefox and IE 8 & 9(Preview) and I am able to see my geomap displayed on my page as it should be. But my problem is when I publish to IIS7 the page using my handler to generate the geomap works in Firefox but not IE(every version). There are no errors anywhere or in any log files, but when i right click in IE in the area where the map should be displayed, I see the message in the context menu saying "movie not loaded" Below is the code from my handler and the aspx page. I have disabled compression in my web.config. Even in IE I am hitting all my break points and when I use the IE9 Developer tools, the web page is correctly generated with all the correct code, url's and references. If you have any better ways to accomplish this or how i can fix my problem, I will appreciate it. • Updating vc6 code to vs2005 - missing two DLLs.

Once I check this with dependency walker I found that ieshims.dll and wer.dll are missing. I searched for those dll's but I could not fine them. How do I resolve this problem?

It seems that setting CoreConnectionPNames.CONNECTION_TIMEOUT = 1 has no effect because send request to different host return successfully with connect timeout 1 which IMHO can't be the case (1ms to setup TCP handshake???) Since on many systems is only Tomcat available, I wonder, if Java EE could be used without an application server but with a Servlet container like Tomcat. What would I have to do to set up an Java environment? What drawbacks do you see?

A good answer would include the name of the library and evidence. I looked at solitaire.exe with dependency walker and it shows many calls to gdi32.dll and gdiplus.dll, but also a call to Direct3DCreate9 in d3d9.dll.

  I've recently learned that the import section from feature.xml is legacy, and the actual dependency work is delegated to the p2 engine, which uses the information from the plugin manifest. I am not sure though if p2 is available for all recent versions of Eclipse, or in all Eclipse-based products, so I'm not sure if it is safe to remove the import section from feature.xml. Under what circumstances is it safe to remove the import section from feature.xml? Assume that we are taking into consideration Eclipse 3.4 or newer.

Why better isolation level gives better performance? This is a development machine and no concurrency whatsoever happens. I would expect READUNCOMMITTED to be the fasted due to less locking overhead.
