  • GWT vertical layout

    I need a vertical layout, which would fill browser's viewport top to bottom, with on overflow (scrollbars). I need to layout widgets on the top, and on the bottom, and have one widget in the center which would stretch to fill the remaining space. There seems to be DockLayoutPanel for this purpose, the problem with it is that it forces me to specify widget sizes, and I don't know the sizes of the top/bottom widgets before the browser does it's layouting job, which is tricky (buggy) to track. I cannot find the right moment when to measure my widgets, and I don't want to do this kind of layouting code anyway.

  • Why do Firefox and Opera ignore max-width inside of display: table-cell?

    The following code displays correctly in Chrome or IE (the image is 200px wide). In Firefox and Opera the max-width style is ignored completely. Why does this happen and is there a good work around? Also, which way is most standards compliant? Note One possible work around for this particular situation is to set max-width to 200px. However, this is a rather contrived example.     Hi, I am using PHP 5.2 on SUN OS server. Having problems with the following piece of code that for a drop down: echo '<form action="" method="get">'; echo '<p>Information:<br />'; echo '<select name="acctno" style="width: 100px;">'; foreach ($this->account_names as $acctno => $acctname) { echo '<option value="'.$acctno.'">'.$acctname.'</option>'; } echo '</select> <input type="submit" value="view" />'; echo '</form>'; Worked perfectly fine on Firefox and Chrome; however there is a problem with Internet Explorer. In IE the dropdown width is limited to the size i.e 100px. So only the first 15-16 characters of the account name are displayed all the time. However in chrome or firefox, even if only 15-16 characters are displayed initially, when the drop down arrow is clicked upon, it show the entire name (however long it may be). This does not happen with IE. So if the account name is, lets say, "1223456789abcdefghijkl" then: For IE: shows only "123456789" all the time Ffor chrome or firefox: shows "123456789" and when it is dropped down it show the full name as "123456789abcdefghijkl".     I have a table with an image inside: <table style="border: 3px solid rgb(0, 0, 0); width: 800px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; border-collapse: collapse;"> <tbody> <tr> <td style="text-align: center; padding: 0px; margin: 0px;"><img style="width: 800px; height: 200px; border: 0px;" alt="Logo" src="logo.png"> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> No matter what I do, there is still a little sliver of white at the bottom of the image. A quick check with Chrome's Inspector reveals that the td has a height of 204px! How can I force the td to be the same height as the image? As you can see above, I've tried all sorts of things...

  • How to create a static header that remains even when navigating to other pages (lala.com)

    I'm interested in the way lala.com works. They have a header that remains fixed at the top of the browser and they have a flash music player in it. You can click on other links in the site and they are displayed below the header but the header is not disrupted and can continue playing music.     i have to design a form with an input inside it. i use background image on the input so it would look like a button. so every time somebody click it, then it would send $POST, a behavior i want to achieve. But the problem is about the outline around the form. The outline show when we click the form. It's minor, but it would be great to make the form (or input) lost it outline. i test it using Firefox 3.6 and flock. Both of them show the outline behavior that i want to avoid

  • Float: left not showing up after a certain point.

    http://test.jptgraphics.com/products?cat=APPAREL This works fine in Safari but shows incorrectly in the latest version of Firefox ( was fine in 3.5) and in some versions of IE. In the middle column the product thumbnails drop down below when the 'float: left;' parameter is used. It is as if it is being escaped by a tag from that point forward no 'float: left's work and all the items are centered moving forward.

However the black rectangle is partially see through since its transparency is set to 20%, therefore it should appear in red, but of a darker red than the rectangle sitting under since it is actually a faded black item. Some rendering problem occurs because of the last line of code that sets the opacity of the containing AbsolutePanel to 100% (which in theory should not affect the visual result). Indeed in that case the panel lying over remains still see through but straight through the background colour of the page! It's like if the panel sitting under was not there at all... Any ideas? This is under GWT 2.0 and IE7.

  • I want to use 960 or Blueprint, but I also want to use lots of Padding and Borders, is it a good fit

    I started using 960 today and thought it would be really easy. However, trying to translate a site to 960 quickly proved tough for many reasons. The first is that I can't use any padding or borders. Unless of course I add many more divs. Same thing with borders. Question is, if I want to use lots of padding and borders (where padding and borders are either 5px "thin" or 10px "thick" styles), are 960 and blueprint overkill? It seems pretty easy to create a custom grid, but once I add padding and borders, 99% of the work is making sure the grid doesn't break. I still am going to end up lining everything up to a 960 grid with 12 columns, but I want to have padding and borders included in the width, and it seems that's not easily possible with 960 or blueprint. What are your thoughts?
